Rosani

IT's BRILLIANT!!

You have to come, everyone is really friendly, we have learned lots about each other, there are always new people AND we have the best cakes of ANY crop ANYWHERE. Guarantee it.

PM me if you want more info. Where in MK are you?

17-11-2005, 03:22 PM
I don't go because I go to the Bedford one but I know several people that do - they are a lovely bunch. I think one of the ladies that runs it also runs another "non Scrapaholic" crop - but as far as I am aware they are the only two in MK.

I am sure one of the group will be along soon to help, but go for it - you will have a great time!!!

CraftyCaz

I also go to the MK Scrapaholics Club.....great fun....great bunch of ladies....and FAB Cakes.....

I just had a look at your cardmaking wedding site - WOW. Already married myself but I'm helping out a friend who's getting married next year so had a good trawl through.

You must MUST come to our crops. Lynsey and Rachael run the MK Scrapaholics one but there is also one on Monday evenings (once a month) where we also have yummy cake. Oh, and we do some scrapping!

Honest, we're all really nice! You should come and sit next to me and I'll look after you, I promise! :D (I'll also make you complete about 10 LOs and handwrite your journaling, but certainly not on the first visit ;) )

There is also a non-Scrapoholic crop once a month on a Monday, it is organised by the same lovely girls, (am now in Lyns good books for calling her a girl) and the next one is next Monday the 21st so do come along. PM lyns11ocraft for details as we have moved location this month. Everyone is really friendly, all ages, some who crop loads, some who love to chat and scrap a little but all enjoying the cakes!!! If you cant contact Lyns pm myself or Caz or Claudia(Rosani) and I'm sure 'ginny' can also help you.
Maybe see you Monday

gismo
17-11-2005, 03:35 PM
oooohhhh you lot are naughty LOL

whats the difference with the one on the monday - apart from stuffing cakes!!!

gismo
17-11-2005, 03:38 PM
oooops posts overlapped!!! So what happens on the mondays then and what time does it start???

Rosani
17-11-2005, 03:44 PM
Mondays we just do our "own thing" as there is no kit or anything. Sometimes we'll have a shop there so we can stroke all sorts of nice things. We also admire everyone's new purchases since we last met and meet the new girlies. We also eat cakes. Yummy, yummy, YUMMY ones that are home made and so tasty...

But I digress. Mondays we start at 7.00 - or is it 7.30? Im usually there as soon as I can to make the most of time. We're there until usually 10. PM Lynsey (lyns11ocraft) as she's the boss, she'll send you details.

Lynsey: remind me where we're meeting, BTW. I FORGOT!!

gismo
17-11-2005, 04:53 PM
how much stuff do you lot take along with you then??? can you recommend any good all in one bags etc - I have so much stuff that I wouldnt know where to start!!!!

Rosani
17-11-2005, 05:04 PM
Aha! you're in the right place, then. Some of our girls (no names!) have so much stuff it's unbelievable.

I personally take 3 bags - one is a paper holder for my papers (and I don't take everything I own, just the papers or sets I think I may use), a Megatote for all my embellishments (I do take all of these, but I am quite embellishment-lite) and a fabby record bag from Asda that Caz got for me, where I store the photos, trimmer, album and other bits.

There are those out there that will say that you need to plan what you'll be doing and then take only what you need. I'm bad at that but I do know what photos I'll be doing so it helps me choose what paper to take. Also, there is a tool table for use at the crop (trimmers, stamps, diecuts, whatnot) so no need to carry any of that big stuff.

For your first go I'd say to try and take enough to make maybe one or two layouts. After you see what happens at these crops you'll know better yourself as to what to bring and what to leave home.

My first ever crop I took all my stuff in a wooden box! It then evolved into a series of bags and boxes. Don't buy storage until you know what you want (and at the crop you'll see lots of examples!). A few trips to and from the car to carry stuff aren't strange!

CraftyCaz

HI guys - not at work today as I've got the worst cold ever. Not as bad as tonsillitis, though (I've had mine removed) but I think you should also send me all your stash to make me feel better. WEll, okay, give some to Lynsey and then the rest to me :D

Cake: CARROT. No question. The best cake EVER.

Gotta go as I need to go get a kleenex. See you Monday, though, no cold is gonna keep me away (and I have the weekend to get better)

ginny

Claudia, you can't have my stash it doesn't like being tidy.

scraplori
18-11-2005, 06:06 PM
Gismo,

I can definitely vouch for the MK crop, as I went to it for the first time last month and everyone was so friendly. The cake was lush too.

And I can also vouch for everyone who has admitted to being a stash addict!! I took the Scrap Revolution shop with me, and I nearly got trampled by everyone stampeding towards the stash!!

(Seriously though, thanks to everyone for your custom and for your positive feedback regarding the stock)

Lynsey, hope you have received your order by now, and hope you are feeling better soon!

By the way, I have now officially launched on UKS too. You can see the post and the special offer here http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=83182

Lorraine

Will pack them in the bag for Sunday...as long as people don't take the mick out of me all day.....I will allow 10 minutes of mickey taking....and that is it...LOL

We need an MK Crop Girls Blinkie....I just wish I knew how to make one.....

I am sitting here in bed, with my scrapping supplies all around me, working on my DLO in an "It's all about me" CJ belonging to Bex.....watch out I will be finished by Sunday, so it will go to her next victim......

Back to work for me tomorrow, but seeing as how I work from home.....not such a hardship.....will be great to get some peace & quiet as Georgia is back at Nursery.

Hey...stock picking on me and my shopload of stash.....I had no chocolate or cake at the crop....I am a good girl. You all tell me I talk too much...so I decided to be quiet.

Did you all see the thread about the paper pack from Costco. Bex and I went there tonight...paper is really nice and co-ordinates, and well worth the £9.38 for 360 sheets...all acid and lignin free...

ginny
13-01-2006, 11:46 PM
OK that's a deal then. Actually it's may not be of interest to you. I have been looking for a rotary card file and I think they may have them in Lidl. Not sure if they are the right size. If you get there before me don't buy them all. LOL.

P.S. Don't let Bex see this.

CraftyCaz
13-01-2006, 11:49 PM
I actually knew about them, as I am on their email mailing list. They are too small for business cards and ATC's...I remember seeing that on another thread.

ginny
13-01-2006, 11:51 PM
Too small for business cards? They must be tiny then so perhaps no good for me.

CraftyCaz
13-01-2006, 11:55 PM
I think they are fractionally too small from what I can remember about the post. The best thing to do is take a business card with you when you go there.

I was supposed to be good this month and not buy anything, but that's definintely gone out the window today and its all Lynsey's fault!

First she pointed out where I could get the stitched border stamps and then ordered them for me when I couldn't coz I don't have a Paypal account (got to love her :D). Then when I popped over to give her the money she told me about a really good deal on a sewing machine and I was forced to buy that as well! So all in all it's been an expensive day, but I'm definitely happy.

Maybe I'll try and be good next month (but I'm not promising).

Have you ladies noticed that WH Smith is now selling a few interesting bits of scrapbooking stash? There are Chatterbox album sets, basic embellishments (brads/eyelets) a few tools, glue dots, DCWV packs (including a limited edition 12x12 one that is only otherwise available in the USA) and things like that?

Although, by the look of the selection either they didn't get much stock or you guys have been as there isn't much left!!

Proper introduction, My names Jay, I live in Furzton with DH and our 2 boys, except I shouldn't call them boys anymore, not since they can both see clear over my head and call me shortie.

I've lived in MK for 20 years, and love the place, Born in London, then moved to Portsmouth (waves to Mum and Nan), moved to MK when I met DH.

Being crafting since I was about 8, (everything, pottery, rubber stamping, jewellery making, cross stitch and the list goes on and on).

Love scrapbooking, after years of having to sit and trawl through people picture albums with a fixed grin on my face, I can now enjoy the experience.

right got to run, lunchboxes aren't made and hair is still up in a towel :)

Hi Jay - nice to meet you! I see that Caz has already given you all the info on the MK crops. Do come to one (Monday in Two Mile Ash, Tuesday in Olney as the July Sunday one I think is full), you'll see that we're all nice and, if you sit next to me, I'll make sure you finish at least one page. I like to complete layouts!

Having said that, I really haven't done much lately. The football's on every night and I find myself watching it instead of scrapping! Plus, I don't have too many photos at the moment and I'm kinda saving them for the crop... :D

Sounds like you guys have emptied out the scrapping stuff in WHSmith! Good - maybe we'll get a larger display next time. (apparently MK got the smallest retail space for scrapbooking, hmmmmm...)

Hi Jay
I'm a foreigner i.e. live in Bedford but not MK but the girls are such fun that I don't want to look for anywhere nearer home. Amazingly Bedford Smiths have Scrapbook stuff and have to admit to buying 2 stacks, one of paper and the other of white-core card. Had to make an effort before they think Bedford is not worth it and remove it all. Look forward to seeing you Jay.
The next Monday one is the 26th and not next week isn't it?

And how did the operation go??? Missed you at Salsa, btw because I totally forgot you were on holiday!!

Jay: a scrapaholics crop does include a kit which you can buy if you want. We don't actually get the "Scrapaholics" kits anymore because the ones Lyns and Rachael put together are nicer and cheaper :D

You are free to do whatever you want: the kit or your own stuff. I often do my own stuff as I never know what photos I'll use until I see the kit IRL. It's basically an excuse to meet for a whole day and scrap!

Lumpy Sue: yes, next monday is the 26th. What paper pack did you buy? I'm probably gonna go up to town today and see what I can spend my money on, bearing in mind I already have TOO MUCH PAPER. I just can't resist DCWV cardstock, the best!

Oh, $%£$%£%$, I'd totally forgotten about the felt kit!

I did one page last night and was looking for a kit, as well. Obviously I didn't look hard enough. Oh well, will have to use it for other photos - I have an idea of what to do with the felt, just need the photos.

I do like the florals stack, it's a happy one. I've just never bought it as don't get much chance to do flowers... but maybe we can do a swapsie for a couple of sheets??

Sue,

Ashamed to say I have't done any scrapbooking since the last crop (hangs head in shame) but I am hoping to do some tonight at my friends house. I'd actually forgotten about the felt kit so I won't be doing that one tonight - will have to have a think about how to use it and the doodling one which I still haven't plucked up the courage to try. Oh and the one with the brown curvy card (mmm... me thinks there is a pattern forming here of buying kits and being too afraid to use them!). Note to self will try and complete at least one of them before I see you all again (maybe!)

Lyns we missed you too.

Have you seen the desk sets, though? They are so cute and you get tons of bits: ring binder, folders, journals, files, sticky notes, to do lists... they are by Colorbok and are under £10 with the VAT.

They are literally next to the Heidi Swapp stuff. I just couldn't resist, it will all look so gorgeous on my desk and as I'm just trying to organize my new job, this is perfect.

Here's a photo!

Hi Claudia,

I have to admit I went a little crazy at costco (most of it is hidden in the car boot, waiting for hubby to go out so I can smuggle it into the house), the desk sets were so yummy I got quite a few as Christmas pressies for the girls, I got one set for myself, but I have been eyeing up the lovely flower print on the folders with a pair of scissors :) I think they would look fab on a layout
