Hi Linda !

I wonder if we've bumped into each other at some stage. I think you took your Clansa course, the year before I took mine and the KS3 !!! Are you still in touch with Andrea ?

Since moving to Lancashire, I've heard that the courses have now been dropped due to funding ??? It would be a shame if it has stopped because it was a condensed course which meant you could get your qualifications quicker.

Sooooo how long have you been scrapbooking and 'altering' ?? I've had a good nosy through your gallery, and your altered work is fabulous - i'll defo be draining you for hints, tips and techniques if thats ok ???!!!

I've just completed a scrapbook album for my mums 70th Birthday on Friday. Its taken about 3 months to complete as it was my first album, but I must say that i've really enjoyed doing it, and I know she's going to love it and appreciate the work thats gone into it. She's actually a cardmaker, although i'm trying to get her into scrapping !!

Oh well, i'm now rabbiting, so i'll sign off for now - chat soon - Cal xx

Hi Carole not seen much of Andrea. I used to see her a lot when she lived in Wallasey but since she moved to Heswall I dont. I know she is a Granma as she keeps in touch with my friend :)

I am still working in West Kirby been there 5 years now.

I never used my clansa as with us being the first year ours never made the NVQ level we wouls have had to pay £250 to do some more units so I never bothered as I already had my NVQ3 in childcare children and young people up to 18.
I work on the care side in school not the school side but sometimes help with homework :)

I did the school fair for years but stopped when I fell out with Mr S so all the energy I used to put into the fair now goes into craft

I used to make all the games like Harry Potter :)

Do you have kids if so how old did they go to St G?

Someone else had said that to me about the fair's and why they didn't help anymore - i think it was a couple of the mums who were on our course. Mr S was NOT a popular man !!!

I have a son who is 10 at the end of this month. He's nothing like me tho, he's very very quiet !!! When we were in Wallasey he went to Somerville not St G. I really loved that school, and it was a shame that we had to move, but I got married nearly two years ago now, and my husband is from Rochdale !!! I'd love to move back, but with the price of houses there, I wouldn't have a job .... and my hubby is now disabled and can't work, so unless we win the lottery there's no chance of moving back sadly !

I try to get back every 4/6 weeks tho - to keep in touch with all my friends, and Aaron's friends. His friends are changing now .... and they all have different interests, its quite surprising how quickly kids change isn't it !!!

Do you have children ?

Yes mine have left school now.

Sorry about your dh.

Is Lancashire cheaper the houses in Wallasey dont seem to go up as much as the rest of Wirral dont know why there seems to be loads for sale

It is nice you get to come back here maybe we can meet sometime.

I love making altered books cards mini books and some scrapbooking.

What is your next project?

I have to been to the crop in Chorley have you tried it ?:)

I've never been to a crop anywhere Linda !!! I've really only just got my confidence showing my work off.

I really really love doing ATC's, scrapping and altered books. I'm slowly making less and less cards than I used to do.

I also enjoy being involved in CJ's, and I'm currently working on my CJ's for the Canny retreat in January - I can't wait to go !!!

I'm really dying to have a go at altering other things like the paint cans, tins and one of those 'cigar' boxes of yours - they look fab. I'm still really experimenting with techniques ie., inks and dyes ...... and still making a mess ..... so i'm going to be keeping my eyes open on the forum for tips and techniques !!!

I think the house prices are probably about the same, although in Wallasey there's more larger properties than here. There's a lot of Coronation Street type houses here and some fabulous back to back properties that look really tiny until you go inside and they are massive !!!!!!! I just don't fancy living back to back as such !!!

So do you work with Primary school aged children or Secondary ? I work in a large Secondary School which is inbetween two large housing estates. It can be pretty hair-raising at times, and we have a lot of children with behavioural and learning needs. I love the job though, and just can't imagine myself doing anything else.

LME

I will pm you my addy and you can send me yours they just dont think out address's should be on the thread.
It is only big swaps that have to be approved as we are just swapping ourselves it is ok :)

Afternoon !!

Well, i've started on my ATC's. Made one lot, decided I didn't like them, so i've started again ! I've also just finished the altered tin I was making for my mum, so i'll post a pic later. It's annoying that photographs don't always portray something exactly as they are.

Right, going to start tea - so hope you've had a nice day !

Wow - i meant to add - what a rewarding job you have, I'd love to have more one-to-one.

I work with 3 children in class, and the lessons I take are small groups of 4 at a time.

The one to one means you can really build up a relationship. I'm soooo jealous !

Me too - i worked in Law for 11 years !!! Talk about stressful !!!

Isn't it fab that your parents can get away too, you must be a blessing for them. My husbands cousin Linda has a son Christopher who is physically and mentally handicapped, and its only because her mum (hubby's aunty) has Christopher overnight (with help) ... that Linda gets a break. He's a lovely lad as well, and really makes the effort to communicate - He couldn't understand my accent when I first met him, and he kept pointing at me laughing at me - still does actually ! So of course I now tease the living daylights out of him !!

Doesn't it make a difference though when you love your job ?!!

Meant to ask as well .... i've noticed that there's a Wirral Crop thread. Even though I no longer live there, do you think i'd be allowed to hop on anyway, just so that I can be near people at home ???? I might even get to the odd crop if its a weekend when i'm 'home' ?? Or would it be frowned upon ?

Hi Elaine ! Sorry, i've been mad busy ! I had a craft fair on saturday (managed to sell a couple of cards), i've been doing some layouts, ATC's (will post them shortly on the swap thread), and i've joined the Nooby Booby's group for newbies.. I'm also trying to get a report for school typed up, but i'm spending far too much time on here i'm afraid - i've got to get this report in as well, so I will have to ban myself from UKS until I've done it !!!!

How's things with you ? How did the crop go. I still haven't managed to catch up with the thread, although i've subscribed to it, so I got the jist that everything went well ??
