We're not sure if it is nerve damage caused by the cancer in her neck, or if she has had another stroke. It's a bit odd that she can use her hand (albeit weakly) but not move her arm......

Ali that is worrying about you DM hun. hugs.

Kathy great news and Shirley hope you're is the same.

Off to WI tonight but then straight back home to Dee. Panto was good but had to keep in touch with Dee as I'd been a dreadful mum and left her at home with Nanny popping in then dad running through at lunch so I came off school as soon as we were back at base and the children were on late lunch. She's still rough but feels she's up to getting through tomorrow thank goodness. Then it's only friday am and she's done.

Hope you get the house delivered ok Claire.

Definately a good idea for TLC evening Lynne, watching Spooks here too :D
Poor Peter having all the worry of DGD, not surprised you are both seeking a bit of comfort in the evenings. (((huggles)))

Great that you have your results Kathy and that they were good. I had a call back last time but hopefully nothing changed as they put it down to a rather over zealous radiographer!

Hope Dee manages her day tomorrow Kay she is a real trouper.
Went to Hobbycraft today and managed to get the cardstock I needed for January, thanks for saving me some money. :D

Alli hopefully all will go OK for your Mum and that the injection works for her.

Been busy most of the day, had a lovely lunch with my work mates, was so nice to catch up, just our office, my boss and 3 colleagues. We are all out - bar one - on Friday to our Christmas do, having it in the dinning hall at the Uni, they do these 'Party Nights', dinner and disco. So will be good to meet up with other work colleagues, but nice today just the 5 of us, swapped Christmas presents.

Had all the children in this evening, lovely to see the little ones walking. Have been discussing Christmas and who is doing what, all at mine, DS1 & DS2 Christmas day and DS3 Boxing day. So will make sure all is prepared.

So pleased you results came back clear Kathy:wub:, Shirley I hope your boobies are not too squashed and you get results very soon too.

Alli I do think that you should go to Drs with your DM regading her arm. Well done for getting the DHW done for your DM&D. You are so good:wub:

Lynne sorry to hear that things may have deterioated that VP may be taken into care, you and Peter must be devasted. Lucky for Zak that you were able to collect him from school, nothing better than cuddles from Nannie!! OUCH for you leg!

Hope Dee is feeling much better and that she can managed the day and half at school (((huggles))), hope you cold is also improving Kay.

I better you cannot wait to finish work Claire and get you craft room sorted, where did you get your paper trays?

Sorry to hear that parcels are going missing or not arriving on time, Claire, Kathy, Lynne & Shirley.

You are good baking your Christmas cake Barbara, I use to love making the cake and puddings, but gave up as it was only me that would end up eating them! I chuckled when you said you had to get the bike out to go and get the eggs, could just see you trundling down country lanes on your bike to go and buy some eggs!!!!

Mary I love you LO, never seem to have my camera with me for these spur of the moment pictures, or it is in the boot of the car as we are going along when I see something interesting!!!

I have reserved some things in Argos, but they are at 3 different locations!!! So will go out early tomorrow to collect them. Have hairdresser coming tomorrow evening. Sounds as if we are all having Christmas hair do's!!!

Hope Karen got on alright today at her hospital appointment.

Shirley say hi to Pa for me and have a lovely mooch! Don't forget to ask about wed lunch too please.

Dee more with it for sure this morning enough to pinch her dad's cup of tea much to his annoyance. So think yesterday has helped a lot.

My cold is still thick and horrid and cold sores are now starting up too so feeling sorry for myself. But this is it last day so yippee!

Claire I'd relish putting everything away too in your lovely postition of starting a whole new room.

Ali hugs I too think you should go along if you can hun but it's a lot to ask as you have so many ties. Hope it gets sorted.

Barbara well done on the cake and bike riding, way to go.

Lynne major hugs hun to you and to Peter. One of our children has never looked back from being placed in care although I know it's a dire situation so hugs and hope it works out for you all. Please feel free to call if you want a vent.

Off to serve mince pies and hot apple juice at the carol service for Dee's school tonight so hope that's fun and not too long.

Paula hope you're not doing all the work for the festivities I'm sure you shouldn't be working too hard yet should yo hun? Take care you.

Morning all, another bad night so got up in the end as off out to hit the shops with Emma once she finishes work at 8am!!! Weather does not look at all frosty here this morning, just wet from the rain we now have.

Yesterday we had a severe frost which stayed in the area most of the day with heavy snow fall around 4pm, but it had all cleared by 9pm!!

I think I must be stalking you today Shirley as I seem to be folowing you around

Glad the play went well Shirley and hope the mammogram results come back clear  Have a great day at Henley with Pauline :)

Kathy thats great news on yours coming back with the all clear, I am really pleased for you

Lynne lots of {{{{huggles}}}} coming your way for both you and Peter, what a nightmare for you both  You know where I am if you need anything.

Paula it sounds like you had a really busy, but fun day yesterday :) I hope you manage to get everything you wanted at Argos today :)

Alli I agree with others in that maybe you should take DM to the doctor, as something is definitely not right re her arm - it would be best to get it checked out  I hope the injections help :)

Barbara it sounds like you have been very busy with your Christmas cooking, did you get it all completed??

Claire I hope you can get your trays in your room soon so you can get really settled in there :)

I hope both you Kay and Dee are feeling a bit bettter today

Hope the sale goes well today Mary.

I hope all those that have missing parcels have them arrive today :)

Yesterday went pretty much as expected! Consultant really pleased with how quickly I am mobilising the neck, but still not happy re the pain and numbness. Had anonther nerve conduction test which is still showing problems, so I have been booked in for yet another MRI for 22nd Dec to see whats happening re the bleeding and nerves. He has also requested that I need to see the neuro/spinal consultant up at Kings along with my neurologist, but that will be after Christmas thankfully.

As said earlier Emma and I are out for the day today shopping and for lunch, hopefully this will be the last of the pressie shopping, although I will need to go back out with DH at some stage as we still have 2 more things we want for DD, then I think the pressie side is finished :D

Youngest DGD has her Christmas party at Rainbows this evening, plus is taking her Promise, so need to be back in time for that as she has asked Nannie to go and see her do her Promise, plus it is DH and I who take her anyway. Camera at the ready

I'm not sure if I can get back in time to go to the hosp with M&D on Monday as I am working at our office in Newbury. But I will try. Monday is my last day of work until 4th Jan.

Well never got to the shops with DD as she is really not well. Feels dizzy and keeps vomiting about every five minutes  Have told her to keep herself tucked up in bed, which she has and she has managed to keep down two small mugs of hot milk this afternoon, which was more than she was doing this morning. I really feel for her as she looks awful and I know she feels really rough, but I pray I don't catch it :nono: She thinks she caught it from one of the children at work as they had it on Monday!!

Spent this morning working on my mini books, plus wrapping a few pressies, but still need to get the rest of DH's pressies at some stage!!

Mary I am sorry to hear you are loaded down with a nasty cold - try and keep yourself warm and lots of fluids

Good luck Lynne for this afternoon with the nurse  It was nice to catch up with you and look forward to meeting up again soon :)

The weather here has been really horrible, what with rain on and off and strong winds!! Have had a little sleet inbetween the rain showers, but no heavy snow showers - not yet anyway  It has been so dark as well that I have had a light on most of the day!!

Right I better go and carry on with my jobs while I can - I think Emma may have gone back to sleep again as its all quiet in her room, but will go and check on her as well and then also make a nice hot chocolate :)

Bailey’s Cupcakes
Oven temperature 350°F/180°C/Gas 4 Makes 12 regular cupcakes
6oz self raising flour
6oz soft brown sugar
1oz cocoa powder
3 medium eggs
6oz butter (softened)
2-3 tbsps Baileys
Method
1. Beat the sugar and butter until mixture is pale and fluffy.
2. Weigh out the flour & cocoa powder.
3. Break one egg and add it to the mixture, beat until blended, repeat with the second egg, add Baileys and mix well/same with the third.
4. Add the sieved flour & cocoa powder to the mixture, mix slowly. The mixture should be a soft dropping consistency.
5. Fill the paper cases ¾ full with batter.
6. Place the tray of cupcakes on a shelf in the centre. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until firm and springy to the touch, well risen and golden.
7. Remove from the oven and place on the wire try to cool.
Frosting
7oz icing sugar
3oz butter (softened)
3tbsps Baileys
Method
Beat all ingredients together until well blended, swirl on top of cooled cupcakes and dust with cocoa powder

ummm, I usually double the Baileys in both the cakes and the icing. Gives them a bit of a kick  I think everything else was done as per the recipe - again I use the muffin cases to make them nice and big ;)

I'm off to bed as soon as my 2nd batch of cakes are cooked. Nite x

Morning all

Happy Birthday Zoe.

I've been up a while and done the WC here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=204645&cat=503) if you want a peep. Woke to snow want to take Dee in to school but she's set on going on the bus and standing at the stop freezing for however long it takes to get there! Just can't help some people.

Have been googling the school closures hoping they may have shut but no such luck.

BBL have a good day all.

Morning all, no snow here but we have had a night of storm force winds, consistant hail storms, thunder and lightening - at one stage the wind was so strong I swear the house was shaking  Really wet and cold this morning, plus we still have the strong winds!

According to the radio a lot of areas in Kent have been badly effected by snow, so I guess we have been lucky :)

Hope the leg starts to heal now Lynne with the antibiotics :)

Mary how are you feeling this morning?? I hope you are feeling a bit better

Looks like James could be in for a busy weekend Claire ;) HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZOE

Alli sounds like you have a busy morning, I hope you get the chance to wind down a little this afternoon :)

Heard Emma get up several times during the night, but she is still asleep ATM so will leave her to rest. Hopefully she will be over the worst of it today.

Little ones Rainbow Promise ceremony went well, she is so proud as apparently she tells me she is a 'real' rainbow now  She was on a real high yesterday as she had had her school christmas party, then the Rainbow christmas party so thought that it was christmas eve last night  :nono: Bless she is so looking forward to Christmas, but I guess at 5yrs of age they do :D

I have a friend coming over today for lunch and a good catch up, so probably won't get much else done :nono:

Have a good day everyone, whatever your plans and keep warm :D

Good morning girls
I feel a lot better today, I can breath which is a bonus. hopefully I will be OK for this afternoon and evening. (two different events) a Christmas get together at the Library at 2.00 with a short concert by the Merribells (hand bell ringers) and this evening a Christmas meal at the Devere with the Ladies Club.
I still have LOs to print out for an album for Gemma's mum and mincepies and coconut crisps to make and anything else that I feel they may like. but the cooking can wait till Monday I think, just don't want to start to panic. still when the children were young I used to cook all these things on Christmas eve because I only had a little freezer.

Morning all - just!!!

Thanks for Zoe's birthday wishes. Her nativity went really well - bought a tear to my eye.

Just bought a bargain of a new rug for the lounge - just waiting for the sofas to be delivered now.

Two dolls houses have turned up - the original one and the one that they then sent on next day delivery. Just waiting for my trays now.

No snow here but it did snow a tiny tiny bit whilst we were in the church.

Hope everyone is ok and keeping snuggly warm.

We're back and going nowhere else today. Freezing outside! It did definitely snow Mary, only for 10 mins or so - the boys were watching the little flurry from the bedroom window. Was cold in the playground too and the teacher asked me to 'give her a minute' - from past experience that means 'I want to tell you that your son has been messing about today' but it was nothing like that. She had a bottle of wine for me to say thanks for helping out. Thought that was lovely of her.

The roads were quite bad when we went out earlier, had to go to Screwfix and to see DMIL.

Have to decide what i am wearing tonight, not really in the mood, but know I will be fine once I get there!!

Alli how nice, shows how much you are appreciated!!!

Have a good day Mary, dont over do things though.

Hope you managed to get the ink and the photos printed Barbara, so annoying when they come out different colours!! Saw TW on the news, he seems upset, know DM&D will also miss him.

Karen hope Emma is over the bug and that you dont go down with it. I bet your DGD is going to be so excited!!!

Kay hope Dee wasnt too cold by the time she got to school, not cool having a list whatever the weather!! Hope you cold is getting better.

I wanted the one that had 5 x 5 12" squares and we have managed to collect the one that you put the TV in the middle of it:lol: All is not lost though as I think in a way it will be the better one as I can put my paper trays where the TV would go and the 2 little shelves will house little containers better.

Good evening all,

Been keeping a bit of a low profile today, feeling tired and achy so resting up!
Very little snow here, however, it came down thick and fast at one point when I was in Henley yesterday.
May just have been out in the cold for too long yesterday.

Lynne glad you have heard form Abbie, she was so pleased that her Nannies friends
had supported her.
Great that the AB's are working, shame about the big toe!!!

Sorry I missed Zoe's birthday Claire but it sounds like she had a lovely day with a big adventure to Ikea at the end of it.
Sounds like you might have made a happy mistake with the expedit shelves, happy sorting.

Paula and Mary you will no doubt be out having a good time ATM, hopefully no sore heads in the morning!

I hope all goes well with the oncologist on Monday Paula.
Colin's got his appointment on the 31st!!!!!

Alli good to know that you are appreciated at school, you are no doubt worth your weight in gold to them.

Head thumping ATM so early night needed here I think!

Sleep well everyone.

Thanks Alli.

Abbie had her swine flu jab when I did amonth ago she was ok but had a sore arm for a few days.
Must admit the swine flu jab was more uncomfortable than the seasonal flu one
It is hard to make these decisions for your children but Abbie's immune systems so low, that the Dr really encouraged DD1 to go ahead with it for her.

Not much help to you I know, you can only go with the info you have, I know that the vacinne is not a live vacinne which reassured DD1 a bit.

All Expedits are all built - finished at about 11.45pm. The little one he did in about 30 minutes so I talked him into doing the big one and it took ages. It is so big that we struggled to build in the hall - plus he kept doing it wrong:P
They are in my room but I still can't put stuff on them as they need fixing back and then the additional drawers and doors need putting on. I don't want to hassle James anymore.
Poor James - his DIY is never ending - he is going to build Zoe's trampoline on christmas eve so it will be ready for christmas day.

What is everyone up to today? Christmas shopping or just staying in and keeping snuggly warm? I think I prefer the latter.

What was last night for Mary?

Claire, lucky you, hope James finished them today and you can arrange stuff!
Paula, hope you aren't suffering this morning! Did you enjoy yourself?
Shirley, take care, don't want you poorly for Christmas!

Morning all - yes we have a very white, white world this morning!!! It has been snowing consistently all night and it is still coming down really thick, so thick I cannot see the end of our drive or garden  Poor DH had to go out in it this morning at 7-30am to pick the DGD's up as they are going to Canterbury today (if they can get there!!) to see Peter Pan Pantomine (different theatre to the one we went to a few weeks ago!) with the Brownies and Rainbows. He had to drop them off at the coach pick up point by 8am. He said its a nightmare out on the roads because there is so much ice under the snow, plus because its registering -2 the snow is settling really thickly - I think he was rather pleased to be driving a 4 x 4 :)

Emma left yesterday and went back to Ashford, but got caught in snow :( What would normally take about 1 1/2hrs took her over 4hrs, but at least she got there safely  She is at work today, starting at 8am so I hope she was okay on the roads this morning - being a lot younger she is not so experienced at driving in these sort of conditions!!!!!

Thankfully I do not need to go out this weekend - I am looking forward to a lovely quiet weekend at home :) All pressies now bought, but not wrapped!!

Shirley I hope you are not going down with a nasty cold, keep warm and wrapped up  Glad the cheque and card arrived safely :)

Kathy I hope DH gets to work through his list of jobs! When does he break up for Christmas??

Difficult decision to have to make Alli re the vaccine  I must admit I refused both the flu vaccine and the swine flu vaccine, as I always find when I have had the flu vaccine in previous years I have always been really poorly with the flu after having it :( So have not had it for several years now. Again I chose not to have the swine flu vaccine, but then I do not have the contacts with the schools where it seems the risk of catching it is higher - a difficult decision to make

I had a lovely day yesterday, my friend came over and we went out so I managed to get the rest of DH's Christmas pressies, we had a lovely lunch out at a small resturant down in Broadstairs and then a wander around a victorian Christmas market which was down on the main green in town. She then came back and we had hot mince pies and warm fruit punch :) She stayed in the end for some dinner and after a lovely evening together she left around 11pm - a busy, but relaxing day :)

So as said I am planning a relaxing and warm weekend at home, lots of baking, wrapping pressies and crafting

I hope everyone else has a lovely day. Stay safe and warm

morning all. Beautiful bright and sunny day here. Sorry you did not have a very good meal Mary but glad the company was good fun.

Hope Paula had a great time.

Do hope those with snow are very careful on the roads if you are going out. DH has got the car today and plans being out most of the day I think so I shall be staying in and wrapping pressies. Was going to make the malteser cakes but although I got the maltesers and the flour didn't get any horlicks powder. Perhaps I'll just use the crushed maltesers instead. Got DD1 and 3 DGD tomorrow for dinner and afternoon tea.

I am mostly going to be wrapping pressies today though.

Keep warm everyone. Hope your shelves /units get finished today Claire. They sound lovely. Perhaps you can put a piccie in the SG group. If you are not a member of UKS you can't see the SG's so it is a bit more private.

Karen I like the sound of your day. I would love to be doing all those things but we have to go out and order the things for our ensuite so the plumber can come back in the new year and start it.

James is also on call so the day could go totally awry yet! He is now working Monday and Tuesday as suddenly work has got busy - he was meant to be on holiday but he doesn't mind as he is on call from 5pm each day so not much fun to be on holiday knowing you have to be on call at the end of each day. Can't plan to go anywhere too far as you have to be back ready in case you get called out.

I really want to get my craft room done but don't want to hassle James to get it done as he has been working so hard already on it. But I am so close to getting it done. Then I could spend Monday sorting it all out whilst Zoe is at nursery and James at work.

I have had a really lovely day, busy but relaxing sort of day IYKWIM :D We have had snow on and off all day, but its been nice with not having to go out. Although DH did go out to collect the girls at the coach drop off point after the panto at about 3pm. Apparently the car was registering -5 and DH said it was definitely freezing because the snow was getting really crisp and crunchy under foot as it was freezing up  Apparently we have more snow forecast for tonight and tomorrow, then I think it is going to warm up a bit - well rise above freezing

We had a gorgeous sunset this evening across the fields so took a photo of that just to finish off the collection of photos I had been taking during the day!! Have added it onto the end of my post!

:thanks: for all your lovely comments on my blog, they are appreciated. I would of loved you and Zoe to have built me a snowman Claire as the garden was definitely lacking one

Sounds like your DGC are enjoying the snow Barbara :)

Great photos Alli, the jacket looks lovely and warm, ideal for this weather

My TP kits came on Thursday, its a rather yummy one this month isn't it?? May have to just stroke them both for a while

Still no snow:angry:

But the good news is that all the DIY has been done in my craft room - everything fixed back, shelves up - just need to sort everything out now. Have started but will be up early in the morning for that:lol: May even get to play on Monday. James has worked like a trojan! Zoe has her birthday party tomorrow afternoon. She has been a bit hyper before bedtime.

Kath you can either come and play in my craft room or sit by the fire - your choice! Unfortunately I will be at Karen's building snowmen!
Fingers crossed for the house sale. Fancy wanting to spend christmas in the IOW:lol:

Isn't the dancing good? I can't make up my mind who I want to win:wacko:

Lynne how is the VP situation?

How is the cold Mary - is it easing off a bit?

Karen you have been busy today - make sure you don't overdo it. The TP kit certainly is scrummy but I have no excuse not to use it now:lol:

Sorry I am on so late in the day, certainly not due to a hangover!!! Just busy out visiting friends and shopping!!

Had a lovely evening at the works do, shame I forgot to take my camera, cant believe that, nor could my friends, alteast someone else remembered!!! One of the guys was a good sport and played secret santa and handed all the gifts out with the appropriate HO HO HOs!!! His present was a leopard skin thong, which he wore over his trousers!!!!

Had good food, good company had a great time and a few drinks - then they ran out of Dry Martini!!! My mate Susie didnt fail me and made me laugh so much!!! I do miss her!! I had a lovely secret santa gift a 'links of London bracelet with a glass bead' obviously not the real thing, but so pretty and almost matches a necklace that I was given for my birthday a couple of years ago - actually from the same person!

Love the photos Alli like the satsuma coat, certainly wont get lost, I like it when DH wears his yellow jacket, I can spot him a mile away!!!

Karen great snow photos, bet the DGC enjoyed the panto, sounds like you had an idealic (sp) day. But take things slowly, dont want you laid up over Christmas!! Glad to here that DD got home ok, albeit late, safe and well.

Clare you certainly have a one in a million in James, you lucky thing!!!!!!
I hope goes well for Zoe's party tomorrow, and that you get you units stocked up to!

Kathy, fingers crossed for DD2 and the house purchase, that certainly would be a great Christmas Present!! Yes more snow tonight/tomorrow and it has been soooooo cold.

Lynne pleased to hear the leg is healing, but dont run before you can walk my dear, take it slowly!!!! Sorry to hear your nail vanish has come off already. You have been busy cooking again!

I didnt get to have my nails done for last night, so will book an appointment for Tuesday if I can get in, if not I will do it for New Year. Must get my eyebrows done too!!

I had my Amazon purchases delivered today, so have 3 more items to wrap, plus the bean bag chairs I bought from Argos, then it is all done. A first for many years, that I wont be still wrapping frantically Christmas Eve!!!!!

Barbara sounds as if you had a lovely day with your friend, enjoy your day tomorrow.

Kay hope you have had a good day home alone, all wrapped up I hope!!

Mary I am sure you will have a lovely time with Neil, Gemma and Baby Rufus, perhaps next year you could go up to Helen's. Or could you accommodate everyone at your home?

Just a note on the Swine Flu, when DH and I had ours done, our doctor was saying that Pregnant Women were the most vulnerable and were the worst take up on the vacinations. He quote two cases that shocked us, and said he wishes that the press highlight these more, so that pregnant women would think again before decided not to have it!!! Just thought I would pass that on, I know it is personal choice.

Hope everyone has lots of supplies in, just incase we have more snow and cant get out.

Night night

I don't know Lynne, you say you have the munchies.......

Thanks for all your comments about the swine flu jab. I need to think about it properly. Joe has also been invited for his 2nd MMR as well. I really hate taking them for those, I know there is no proven link to autism but I just don't like getting it done (I always get them done but fret about it for ages!).

I've just done day 15 of JYC. Will try to get completely up to date tomorrow as just 2 days behind now - hopefully I will get time. Just realised I do have a bit of a busy week next week as well with working Monday at the office, then present delivery visits on Tue, M&D stint on Wed. Then it will be chilling on Christmas Eve watching Polar Express (again!) - boys love it.

Mind you I am staying snuggled up in my craft room today so I don't really mind :P

Claire if you let me know what time you are coming to build my snowmen I will pop the kettle on for you  I hope you get your craft room all sorted today and that Zoes party goes well

Kathy did DH get his jobs finished yesterday??? Good luck that all goes well for DD2 and the house, will keep everything crossed for them

Enjoy your day today with friends and family Lynne :)

Glad you had a good day Paula :)

DS is taking all the DGC up to Bluewater today to see the lights and ice skating, plus Father Christmas - he must be mad but it is his only day off now before Christmas, so I guess he has no choice really!!

Very cold here, DH said it poured with rain in the night!!! Babysitting Rhianna-Rose, Mummy having hair coloured, DS2 working, private job! She is sleep at the moment, so chance to come on here, otherwise can see it being another late one!! Do need to get to Argos before they shut, have reserved some vertical blinds for the french doors, if I can get them today will get a £5.00 voucher, every little helps!!

Hope Mary is safe, being out on the slippery paths etc. DS1 went out on his moped but didnt get to the top of the road, black ice, so DH took him out. DS1 and family went to a wedding yesterday and left the car at the venue, as DS2 picked them all up last night!

DS1 is hoping to buy a car later, (DDIL has their car!!), just hope it hasnt already been sold before he gets to view it! Fingers crossed.

Mmmmm Yummy Alli, need to get the rest of the ingredients, will probably make Christmas Eve, as I have done the wrapping!! Well done for getting up to date with JVC, must do mine! Hope your week goes smoothly. I bought Polar Express this year, so we can watch it at some point over the holidays when we have the children!!

Karen good job you dont have to go out in it, looks so lovely from the cosiness of being indoors.

It has remained below freezing here all day so none of the snow has thawed!!! It is like a skating rink outside so have not dared risk venturing out, although I had not planned to anyway

Have spent the best part of the day crafting but still no pressies wrapped - I really do need to make a start

Have you seen Scrapdolly's new weekly challenge for 2010?? You can check it out here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=281931)although for full details you need to check out her blog :)

Yes the weekend was fine but have just checked out our forecast and it looks as though we may have this at least until Wednesday

Claire I think after today I will send it up to you :P

Its still coming down by the bucket full, but its sheer ice under the snow, thats the problem  Even the main roads do not seem to have been gritted or salted, so everywhere is quite bad - I heard on the local radio that 3 people died last night when their car came off the road due to heavy snow and ice :(

The council knew it was coming so why are they not out there keeping the paths and main roads clear - cost I guess, yet they are quick enough to put up our community charge each year

Gosh sorry off my soap box, but it is a sheer sheet of ice and snow everywhere and the council have done nothing :(

Have found my old skiing suit and thermals for DH plus hats and gloves so if we go tobogganing with DGC we can keep warm.

I have looked at Scrapdollys blog too but not sure yet what it will entail. Keeping options open. May try to combine everything - soft toy and craft everyday should be possible to do together. Have loved doing the 52 tags. May do something similar for the soft toy project

was supposed to be going to Winchester to meet up with dil and dgc,

Oh Kathy what a shame, although best to be on the safe side with this freezing weather. I bet the DGC were also really disappointed not to see their Nannie.

Did you manage to get your cake marzipaned??

Paula I am thinking of you and hoping that everything is going well

Take care Barbara if you go tobogganing with the DGC, we don't want any broken bones :nono:

Alli I hope you are managing to get your work done from home without too many interuptions :)

Gosh I know its Winter Solstice today but talk about dark  I have had to have a light on all day. My computer seems really slow today when online which is unusual, so not sure if its that everyone is on the web ordering all their last minute pressies  UKS seems to be particularly slow :(

Have tried taking some photos of my finished craft projects, but it is sooo dark, they are not coming out very well so will leave it until tomorrow and try again  I have been in the craft room most of the day - I really need to try and tidy it up now though before I start anything else as I think somebody has dropped a bomb in there whilst I was not looking :P

Shirley I hope your snowmen are coming along - looking forward to seeing some photos. How is this cold weather effecting Abbie?? Is she coping with it as I know it does not help

Well as all of you know it has been a truely horrible year this year for us what with one thing and another, the worst year I think I can ever remember!! I know you should not wish your life away but I will be really pleased to see 2009 out and 2010 in, hopefully for a better year :) On saying that I do have some very special and good news - now shall I tell you or shall I make you wait - Mmmm I will have a think :P

Right if my computer decides to play nicely I am going to try and upload my mini book with instructions onto my blog. If it decides to go slow on me it can wait as well

I hope everyone is having a good day despite the weather :)

Mind you, the snow is just perfect for today's JYC prompt :D And when Dave took the boys into town this morning I packed Liam off with his camera to take photos of the shops etc. He is a star cos he doesn't care what people think!

Just back from the hospital, thanks for the good wishes for today. We had a good talk with the Oncologist, start the treatment at the end of January it will be for 5 weeks, 3 days one week, 2 the next. The Dr was quite pleased with all the results and thought the radio therapy would sort out anything that was left IYKWIM!! The car park was madness, never seen it so busy, at one point I was thinking I wouild have to go in on my own!!!

Kathy it has been the same here, quite rainy at one point but turning more to snow!!! Keeping busy I see!! Sorry you day was ruined by the train service.

Wise move Alli not to go to the office!!! Hope Liam gets some good shots for you!!

Karen.......wonder what the news is.........:P You take things easy, you have been soooo busy. Scrapdolly's challenge looks interesting.

Car sounds great Kay, I hope the cooking goes well for DMD. Shame you DB is abroad for Xmas.

Shirley, I hope you have had a lovely day with DGD and the snowmen are fab. Sorry you have family problems down south, hope things are sorted out soon. Enjoy your meals out this week. Give Sal my love and wish her a Happy Christmas,

When will you be going up North Barbara, you might need your skisuits in the car with thermus too! Did you get out to the shops?

Lynne hope you have had a good day with Zac, glad you family day went ok, albeit a little stressful.

I did manage to get my eyebrows and top lip done this morning!

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Glad you have your treatment plan in place Paula. Better to have a few weeks of radiotherapy to make sure there are no nasty cells left.

Mum also had her oncology appointment this afternoon, I didn't go as Dad said he was fine  but he mentioned the arm problem and they are going to do another scan of mum's neck to see if it is a nerve problem. Other than that, they say it is probably a stroke. If that's the case, and there is nothing that can be done then it is fine, just be good to know!

Well it is snowing again here, who knows what tomorrow will be like. I'm supposed to be present delivering but that may be cancelled

Paula, glad all went ok and at least now you know what to expect! Now forget about it all and enjoy Christmas!
Alli, glad they are doing something for your Mum, hope it is something they can sort!
DD1 was sent home early from work, near Basingstoke, her car was stuck at the bottom of a slope in the car park, so someone kindly gave her a lift home! Then dd3 phoned, walking home from work, again in B'stoke, in 5 inches of snow! She wanted "company" on her walk after she parted from two other girls!
Seems that part of the county is grid locked! Wondering about dd2 and her dh, they were taking his sister to Portsmouth today to get ferry to IoW, and knowing dd she would then go shopping! Just hope they get home ok!
Not snowing now, but they say more later! Then it will freeze! Count yourself lucky Mary!

Glad your DDs got home OK Kathy, that must have been the snow they had at work - the office is in Kingsclere, it's only about 10 miles from Basingstoke. Makes me even gladder I didn't go there today.

Snow stopped again now Mary. I'm not making it up, honest!! Just doing my JYC for today, altho DH has managed to take blurry photos of the boys in the snow. Never mind!

Glad you have an idea of your treatment Paula so you can be prepared.

Alli lets hope another scan will reveal the problem your DM is facing.

Flat iced my christmas cake but will wait and decorate when it arrives at its destination!!

Sounds like the snow has been very bad for people round Basingstoke. Miserable for people trying to struggle home from work. Hope all yours are home safely now Kath.

Trying to do a bit of a catch up with JYC.

Kathy and Alli, and any others, I think looking at the weather forecast we may be sending our snow up towards you - sorry  I was trying to send it to Claire but I think it went the wrong way!!! I hope all your family got home safely Kathy, what a nightmare for your DD.

Paula its good that at least you know what the plan of action is for your treatment and it it sounding positive which is great news. I hope you can relax a little now and enjoy Christmas with your family. Sending you lots of {{{huggles}}}

Alli I am glad your Dad mentioned about the problems your Mum was having with her arm. Hopefully they will be able to find the cause of the trouble for her and be able to do something to help

Well I was going to wait until the morning to tell you my good news, but depending on the weather I may or may not get online as I have my scan and physio appointments tomorrow - I am hoping the roads will be clear by then. We have had some rain this evening so looks like hopefully the snow will start to thaw tomorrow, although it is all frozen over solid ATM!

Soooooo actually its not just my news it is Emma's (DD) as well, but she cannot get online ATM so has agreed I can tell you all - yes, you guessed it she is pregnant - expecting her first baby in June 2010  Although DH and I knew a while back, she miscarried earlier this year so did not want to say anything with this pregnancy until she was a bit further down the line IYKWIM!!! Looks like a lot of new Nannies again on 365 next year!!

On that happy note I am going to have an early night, curl up with my book again.

I may have time to pop on briefly in the morning - it depends on one: what time I get up and two what the weather conditions are like!!!

Have a lovely evening everyone, keep warm and safe

We have had a bit of snow here but it is more slush than snow and not settling. Sounds like it causing chaos everywhere. Still I would like some as Zoe would love it.

Least your dad mentioned the arm Alli - hopefully the scan will show something up.

When do you travel up north Barbara - hopefully the weather will not cause you any issues.

Good morning all,

How lovely to come on the thread and see that we have another baby on the way. :D
Congratulations Emma, this is wonderful news, Karen you must be thrilled so thrilled, it is certainly a great start to your happy 2010.

I have so much to catch up on just by not being on here much for a couple of days!

Claire your lounge looks so cosy and I think Zoe looks like she is another Leona Lewis in the making with her lovely Pink Keyboard.
Hope you slept well and don’t feel groggy this morning. (((huggles)))

Paula  I am so glad that you now have a plan of action, I hope that you will now be able to relax and enjoy Christmas and get yourself fit for the final steps in your treatment. (((huggles)))

Barbara you sound like you are planning for a fun Christmas with the family I hope that you manage to do some tobogganing in and that we get to see some photos. :)

Lynne so glad that you had Zac had a lovely day with you and well done for getting all that filing sorted. Hopefully family stress will get sorted soon but not an easy time for you and Peter.((((huggles)))

Alli it certainly looks like you made a very wise decision not travelling to work yesterday. I hope that the Dr’s can help regarding DM as you say not knowing what the problem is that can be the big worry. (((huggles)))
A BIG well done for being up to date with your JYC. :D
Looking forward to seeing it on your blog, do we have a link somewhere?

Kathy what a shame that the weather stopped you getting to Winchester, mind you it sounds like it was a very wise decision looking at all the snowy reports on the news. :o
I wonder is Steph is snowed in. Basingstoke looks like it was completely cut off last night!

Mary your Seven ducks a skimming is lovely you have certainly captured the chilly weather with you LO.
Make sure you take care when you are out and about with your camera, it is so slippery at the moment. You and Alli seem to have different Micro climates down there in Swindon! Are you making Neal his Christmas pasties this year? ( I hope I have remembered this correctly!)

Kay  it was so lovely to catch up with you last night and off load my stresses onto you.
Thanks for the IRL hugs.
I can really recommend the Peppermint Bark to you all it tasted wonderful, I begrudgingly let DH have a piece and now I think I might have to share it with him too as he thought it was pretty yummy too.
I was amazed that you could face eating any food after your marathon cooking session yesterday, mind you the food was VERY tasty. Looking forward to our lunch out with Sandie tomorrow, I will definitely have start behaving myself foodwise after Christmas.<_<

Abbie and I had a lovely day yesterday, we both enjoyed our crafty morning.
I have attached a couple of photos of our project, it is a table decoration and a game all in one. The open box in the centre has different Christmassy shaped tags with a selection of questions in which people dip into and try to answer for a prize, the area between the snow drift edge and the central box will be filled with mini marshmallows to simulate snow. After we had finished the class we had a girly lunch out and finished off DGDs Christmas shopping, she needed to shop without her Mummy!
The cold weather really doesn’t help Abbie’s arthritis but she is very brave and just takes the painkillers and copes, bless her.

As for my family stresses in Devon, I have dealt with them the best I can ATM and am now taking Kay’s advice and letting them get on with it!
Not easy when I feel so hurt but their problem not mine!!!!
:thanks: for all the (((huggles))) they are appreciated.

I have a whole day at home today.:o
I plan to finish my parcel wrapping and make some Malteser and Baileys cupcakes, I also have a project I want to finish too.

Gosh this has become a rather long post! sorry.
Think I have caught up now.

And it's a big NO from me too :stop:

Been to visit one friend this morning, was nice to see them and Joe loves their dog which is great as he went through a phase of being petrified of them. Got home and couldn't reverse back on the drive - too icy, so had to go to bottom of round to turn round so I could drive on. Just as I was getting the boys out the car, we saw 2 cars almost collide on the bend at the bottom of our drive :o So the boys and I walked up to get some grit from the top of the estate (which was soaking wet as someone had kindly left the lid of the box open ) and I've flung a load across the bend. Hopefully that will do the trick as it is just solid ice. I really struggled to get out the top of our road this morning, but the sun is on that bit now and it has melted most of it already.

oh that turned into a bit of a long one... anyway, this afternoon we are off to see my other friend - hopefully the roads round her way are OK.

Muffins turned out brill - am saving them for tomorrow night's party. My brother and mum are coming round tomorrow day time for the kids to have their presents - then I will cook and clean like a demon ready for the family party at 6.30pm.

No snow or ice here!

No DS today he cried off giving us a meal tonight so Iain, Perdita, Zac, Peter and I went to a Beefeater for our meal! Think he is severly depressed and not physically ill and says he might not go to Reading for Christmas, will try and get to see him between SW and seeing Jo tomorrow with our pressies and see what he is like and what is wrong!!

Good morning all,

Barbara it looks like your DGS2 is really enjoying his early Christmas present.
A lovely photo for your JYC.

Mary Bongo may look cute but he is turning out to be a bundle of mischief especially when Abbie is around!

Lynne sorry that you did not get to have dinner with DS I hope that you manage to see him today, such a worry for you (((huggles)))

Final wrapping all done here, so hopefully all I have to do now is collect the Turkey and relax!
Out to lunch with Kay, Sandie and Pauline today and DD2 arriving home for a weeks stay :D

Keep warm everyone it is - 6 here ATM and very icy on the road outside!

Morning all - its very cold here as well, looks really icy outside as I can see it glistening in the light  Had a really bad nights sleep, have been up since around 3am - over tired, over sore and over active mind!! Why does the brian always seem to go into over drive when you want to sleep??

Alli your JYC pages are fabulous and I have left you some comments, its really coming together well :)

Bongo looks really cute Shirley, although he does have a bit of a mischievious glint in his eye  Enjoy your lunch with Kay, Sandie and Pauline.

Claire have a fab time with your family tonight :)

Great photo Barbara :)

Have the dreaded big shop to do this morning at Sainsburys so I know now I will probably spend longer in traffic jams than in the shop  Apparently they have marshals up at Sainsburys ATM directing their traffic in the car park as it has been grid lock :(

I hope you all have a good day whatever you are all doing :)

Hope you get your turkey ok hun.
It should be OK as it is all ordered at PC Farm Kay and they so organised when you arrive you are greeted with a glass of mulled wine whatever time of day it is!
They also have all the veggies you need too, so no supermarket shop for me thank goodness!

Hope that you manage to get to Sainburys with too many hold ups Karen.

Morning all

Very cold here too - I opened the patio doors to take a photo of the back garden as the sky was such a strange dark colour - but that is as far as I got and then shut the door quick:lol:

Love the snowy photo Barbara - I know snow is a pain but do I love it. Mind you hoping it will warm up a bit as I want James to build Zoe's trampoline tomorrow whilst she is at nursery.

Alli - how successful was the Tesco trip - any unlisted items?

Bongo certainly looks a cheeky monkey - perhaps you will have to introduce the naughty step to him:nono:

My advice for the supermarket shop is either go very early or very late. I just have to pick up my turkey from the local farmshop too and then I am all set. We are just having a little xmas dinner for the 3 of us on xmas day and then I have my brother, his wife and my mum on Boxing day when I will cook a bug dinner.

Huggles Karen - perhaps you need to drink some of the Horlicks from the Malteaser cup cakes:)

Right I need to get up and make some custard for the trifle for tonight. May make some more cupcakes.

I bet your brother is looking forward to his 'bug' dinner on Boxing Day

It's still a white wonderland here, the road is pure ice :( Know it will be fine once i get out onto the main roads but dreading trying to get off the drive today when I leave to go to M&Ds.

Enjoy your lunch Shirley, kay et al.

Shame about your dinner last night Lynne, hope you manage to get to see DS today and he is OK.

Sorry Claire but it made me chuckle.

Had trouble with my computer this morning. Think the cold has got to it. Very icy here. Not sure when my DM is being picked up - probably a bit later than planned.

Good luck with all the food shopping. Have been very smug this year - not having to do any although I have just had an emergency phone call from DD2 for a jar of mincemeat. Apparently they have run out up North!!

Hope you manage to see your son Lynne.

Morning All!!!

We went shopping at 10.30 last night, got most of it, just need to tie up the loose ends either today or tomorrow, it was freezing literally, fog, coming home, -5.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH not well, silly man, cleaned the lounge window again yesterday and got caught with a neighbour, he was not dressed suitable for the weather, WHY not they listen, just like children, wrap up warm it's cold out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So last night he had such a sore throat and I have left him in bed this morning, can see we are going to have a great Christmas!!!

Glad to hear DH obeyed the list Alli, albeit an extra jar of shallots!!! Go careful driving out to DMD! We certainly wouldnt being having Christmas if I left it to DH, hopeless at shopping, or alteast makes out he is so he doesnt have to do it on his own!!

Sorry you missed seeing DS, Lynne, hope you manage to see him before Xmas.

Have a lovely lunch Kay & Shirley say hello to Sandie and Pauline. Sounds great Shirley, which we had a farm shop near by.

Claire will be thinking of you later doing a manic clean, sure it will be fine, have a super day with your family!!!

Kathy go careful when you go out, there is not much traffic moving round near us, perhaps everyone is all prepared and does need to go out today!!!

Mary will you be staying over at Neil's, when will you be going? Take care if you need to go out today!!

Karen take it easy when you go out, sounds as if your Sainsburys has it sorted, traffic wise!!! It is always the way when you need to sleep that you tend to be awake ((((((((((((huggles)))))))))))))).

Have a good day everyone, I just have the last of the presents to wrap, thought it was sorted  and a quick tidy up, check my shopping list from last night to see what else is needed and perhaps get one of the DSs to go instead........nar....wishful thinking....

WhoooHooo ALL shopping done and all put away :D I cannot believe how smoothly it all went - Sainsburys was a doddle - managed to get everything we needed and a bit more, straight through the checkout with no queue. Stopped on the way home and had lunch out, then home and all put away - I have totally finished AND DO NOT need to go out again - YeeeHee :D :D Can't you tell I am pleased

Now I really should wrap some of these Christmas pressies, but as the sun is shining straight into my craft room I think I am going to craft - I will do the pressies tonight once its dark!!!

Glad you managed to get your shopping Kathy and had no problems on your road as it sounds quite horrendous with all the ice!! I hope DH gets home with not too many problems :)

Barbara drive carefully and enjoy your time away

Hi back a happier bunny as DS1 was feeling bette? and off to reading, then Dorset on Sunday and then home and London so he says... though no pressies as they are all waiting to be delivered via our house by Amazon!!! I have to explain that to his brother:(

Peter not happy as we had tp go to his daughters house and then he becomes very unhappy :(

Off with his footie friend and wife [who I introduced to SW at the beginning of this year, she has lost over 2st :)] to a pub so will enjoy that :)
Last minute invite to peter's son and family in Battle for evening meal tomorow Christmas Eve so no cooking for me until Boxing day, already have too much food in as had planned meals for today and tomorrow, thank goodness for freezers!

Damp here all day though cold out

Lost 11/2lb at SW today but didn't go for my target as I said and have bought another 12 weeks as I want to def be a size 14!! and that was with eating sweets, spirits and no excercise, just think of the loss otherwise LOL!!

Off in a mo to look at Alli and Karen's blog and download SD's 1st prompt, gettting excited and Clement F is ready for his adventures next year too!! No naughtly step for him he is far too haughty LOL!!

We actually popped in to a tesco Extra on the way home pm and we were in and out for 3 things in 10mins!! think everyone though had been paid and were buying for England, no more shops or cooking for me, a little ironing and put filing away tomorrow then Kidz Carols at out church at 4pm and meal in Battle :)

Have a great evening xxx

We managed to get out about 11 to Sainsbury's it was MANIC!!! Not like Karen's!!! All done and dusted now, forgot the crackers, so DS2 is on that case!!!

May have to take DH to Dr in the morning, phoned the surgery earlier to see if I could get over the counter medicines, Lemsip or something, but he is not allowed due to his medication, doctor adviced paracetamol and plenty of fluids and if no better to ring in morning for appointment!!

Presents all wrapped, dusted and hoovered, crockery all washed (something I do every year - DH things Im mad!!!). Going to look at JVC now.

Safe journey Barbara!

I have had a nice day today spent shopping with my son & grandson (though he was asleep all the time) We went to tesco's not a shop I know as not easy for me to get to. so was an experience but we managed to do all the shopping needed and without too much hassle. Kay have a great day in London:wub:

Well done on your lovely pages Alli and Mary.

 Paula I hope that your DH is feeling better this morning, if not that you manage to get him in to see the Dr. and get him some meds.
DD2 came home full of cold so we might end up sharing that with her at
some point!!!!
I will just keep taking VitC and Echinacea and hope it she keeps her
germs to herself. Although both DD1 and DGD have colds too so we will be
surrounded by sniffly people all Christmas. It seems everywhere you go at the
moment people are coughing and spluttering.

Looks like you had a good time lastnight and on Sunday Lynne, great photos.:D
Good news that your DS's plans for Christmas are now back on course, hopefully they will hapen.

Sorry I missed your party lastnight Claire ... that will teach me to log on more often.

Glad your DH is home safe and sound Kathy, I hope you get taken out to lunch today.
We are off to the cinema this morning, DSIL is off work today as he is working boxing day.
