I am wondering if you are heating up the embossing powder for too long? What kind of ink are you using? Perhaps the textured card is just not suitable for using a heat gun on?
It might be worth trying the same ink and powder on a scrap of plain card and seeing if it still blackens. If not, its the textured card that's at fault, or it's just possible that if you are using a black or dark-coloured ink pad, the ink is seeping ino the card and making it look like it is blackening. You could also try again removing the heat gun as soon as the powder has melted (you can always re-heat if you haven't melted it enough). Otherwise, try the same method but with a different ink pad and see what happens.

maybe you are holduing it to close to the card. I sometimes use a toaster and find this happens on the back of the card if it is too close

Thanks for the tips. I have had a bit a of a play with other powders and if you look closely it still leaves mark but they blend in to the paper so they do not note is them. So it must be the paper.
Thank again for the replies
