The Slice-Question

I've recently bought the slice and I'm thoughly loving it, so easy if a bit noisier than I thought it would be. Can anyone tell me, when I cut a 4" letter my cut out measures 3 1/2 and each cut out seems to be about 1/2 smaller than selected, so is that OK. I'm new to die cutters so this may seem obvious to everyone else, but not sure if this correct.

Hi there,

The fonts are measured from the top of the ascenders to the bottom of the descenders so that the main part of the letter or 'x' height will not be 4" in total. Hmm, don't think I am explaining myself very well. If you look on the 'WhySlice' site, it may be explained in logical English.
