I would say that you've definitely found the right place for advice and inspiration, so you're half-way there!

The main thing is to enjoy yourself. Also there is no right or wrong way, only what YOU like.

It can be daunting seeing the amazing stuff that more experienced crafters have made, but be patient and remember we were all new once.

A good tip is to browse the gallery here and some blogs, and find something you like and try to do your own version. If you see something you like, but not sure how to do it, just ask!!

Welcome and enjoy!

Hi Emily, welcome to UKS. This a very friendly place and it is full of ideas, help and advice. I would suggest keeping an eye on the general scrapping thread to see what is being asked / discussed there, and it's the best place for you to ask any scrapping-related questions. I don't think so many people look at this techniques thread as it tends to concentrate on a particular subject, for example, embossing, or how to use a particular item, and your inquiry might get missed.

Have a good wander through the gallery, click on the camera icons in people's details (in the box on the left hand side) to see an individual's style and generally .... have fun!

Don't be afraid to ask anything here - there's no such thing as a stupid question!

Hi Emily, I'm new to this site, but not to scrapbooking and there are 2 things I want to say to you:
1) You are going to love it, just play. Play with all your bits and bobs and see what you like. Don't glue straight away place everything where you want and then try moving it around and see what looks best before you stick it all.
2) I wish I started scrapbooking as young as you, by the time you're my age, you'll be a super super expert.

Have Fun xxx

Welcome Emily, I don't think there are any hard and fast rules on the best way to do things. We all learn as we go along, just go with what feels right to you and follow your heart, most of enjoy!!

My advice is all of the above but what i found really hard to deal with is how critical we are about our own work. I say dont be critical of yourself ,as in a way it limits your own creativity try to always be proud of what you achieve because scrapping is such a personal thing so enjoy it to its full ,relax and you will find that you enjoy it even more. you become so proud of what you can achieve. anyway sorry for ranting

Hi Emily and Zhuimengren!

My tips ... let's think ... DON'T be like me, clean up as you go along! That way you won't be left with a tiny little area to work on, surrounded by piles of stash. Get a mini bin or even just a plastic bag and put all your rubbish into it as you create it.
