Anyone know what the difference between a hot melt and a cold melt glue gun is?

Also, if you have one, what do you use it for?

Love Katy x x x

I have both and they are both HOT when the glue melts so be careful. The so-called cold gets cold v. quick. I used mine a lot for other crafts - decorating baskets etc - but don't use them much now. I keep meaning to get one out and experiment a bit but that's as far as it's gone. I'll be interested to see how others use them in scrapping.

I occasionally use it for holding metal down but as Sheoila says the hot one gets very hot.
Or sticking beads on the front cover of something.

I've used it to sort of distress in the past and also made pictures with it as it stands up

Hiya Katy :)

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I taught a class locally nearly 3 years ago now making a hot glue faux wax seal and use on a LO, you can see an example if you would like to on this LO here :)( its not the class LO, its one I made a year or so later)

You really need to squeeze as big a blob of glue as you can( just keep on pumping the trigger until no more will come out) onto something like an old wall tile( its easier to peel if off afterwards and seems to be heat resistant). And then make sure the stamp you use has a barrier of ink on it, I just used an embossing ink I think( it makes the stamp come away from the glue safely after the glue cools). Then I painted it with acrylic paint and before it dried I blotted/rubbed off the excess. To finish it off I rubbed some metallic creams over it, you can also use a creamy eyeshadow as a substitute ;) They are fun to make, but its a blighter if you burn your fingers, I am clumsy scrapper
