I've got a title I want to do, it's going to be circular text and has to be quite small so chipboard and sizzix dies are out, but I'd like to make it a bit more special than just printed onto paper and cut out. So, I'd like to emboss it in gold, and I've heard you can do this by printing in 'best' quality using an ink jet printer and a paper that is less absorbent and applying the powder to it as soon as it comes out of the printer.
The plan is to use vellum and try this, has anyone else done it, what was your experience, was it successful? Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

I've done similar using inkjet transparencies. I printed onto the glossy side .. used the "ordinary paper" setting ... and waited five minutes for the ink to settle a bit before covering with embossing powder - that way it is more resistant to smudging. Knock off the excess powder and heat emboss as usual, but don't get too near the transparency as it can buckle in the heat. I would think vellum would work in the same way. It's a great way to get white lettering!!

I often emboss on vellum. Just print on usual setting, and it stays wet long enough to get the powder to stick. Works on my printer anyway!

I had a fair bit of success printing onto card with my HP printer. I used advanced settings with max ink and minimum drying time and managed to emboss about 2/3 of a page of text this way.
I did a load of orders of service for a friends wedding like this - used a slightly pearlescent card and it worked really well.
