Tracey ... that is so gorgeous. I love the blue.

Janet Is it pencils you use or markers??

Maureenp
26-07-2009, 11:44 AM
oops stupid question ... just realised that they are markers!!!!

craftycairn
26-07-2009, 11:49 AM
Hi Maureen,

I use Copics mostly but I do like the Khoor-in-oor pencils too

I love the effect of the pencils but blending with the stumps after a while makes my finger joints ache and cramp up a bit (must be old age lol)

The copics are a lot easier to use......I used a combination of both on the Birthday Milly card as they both require very smooth card and I stamp with Memento ink which is good to use with both colouring mediums

Another of my favorite colouring mediums is watercolouring with Tim Holtz Distress inks on watercolour paper.....gives a lovely effect too X

Maureenp
26-07-2009, 11:55 AM
mmm, haven't tried any of Tim Holtz distress inks but a friend of mine was telling me this week that she loves them!!

Just ordered a couple of stamps from you Janet ... The Ice Skating one ... so cute I just had to have it :)

Will stamp a few images for my grandaughter when they come as well. :)

Just waiting for my ProMarkers to come so will be able to try them next week

craftycairn
26-07-2009, 12:02 PM
Hi Maureen,

Just processed your order, thank you :)

You should enjoy the Promarkers too.....not really tried them but believe they are similar to Copics. you will need a very smooth coated card to stamp on.
Rymans do a pack of 'Bright White Coated Card' 50 A4 Sheets 200gsm. I think it is about £5.99 but it is often on BOGOF....it is excellent.

I also use Windsor and Newton Bristol Board which is a very smooth white drawing pad.....I save this for best as it works out a bit more expensive than the Rymans....but it is lush!
Happy hunting Maureen! X

Another Christmas card made with 'Little Gem & Snowflake'. The image has been coloured with Ciao Copic Markers with glamour dust added for a touch of sparkle. My 'own little Gem' who the stamps are based on is grey in colour. This time I have left her white apart from a bit of blue shadowing for all the Westie fans out there!:)

:thanks: Maxine for your fab customer service.....my parcel has just arrived!

I just love Pink....it's my favorite colour so I just had to have this kit. I love 3 bugs in a rug so it's a fab combination.

The ornate corners were made with a cuttlebug die.....I think it came in a set of four

Well my proMarkers arrived and I have had a play and DON"T LIKE THEM !!!!!!!!!

Help. Is it just me .... I just couldn't get them right. I have a blender pen but the colour looked "wishy washy" after I had finished ... just like a kid would do!!! Maybe I have to play and play. I bought some "High White, Ultra Smooth" 225gsm card to stamp on as well.

Sob sob!! So I resorted to my Prisma Pencils to colour my image which I will hopefully later on make a card with.

Does it take a while to get used to using the markers then??

Maureen, I rarely ever use my blender...You don't need to use the blender like you do when using Prisma pencils. I found it best to pick to colours close in colour...use the lightest, add shading with the darker, and then go over the join in the colours with the lightest colour...and it will soften.

They are totaly different to Prismas Maureen. I have copics as you know and when I first got them I thought I had wasted money because I tried to colour and blend with the blender pen. I only really use the blender to act as an eraser If I go outside the stamp line. It doesn't really erase but acts like a bleach so you can rectify small mistakes with it. I bought my pens seperately not in a set. I chose the colours I wanted and bought a lighter and a darker shade of each so I could use the darker one where I wanted my shaded bits to be. I then went over it again with the lighter to blend out the line between the two shades. I am still building my collection and have 3 shades of each colour now to work the shading but you will be fine with two to start with. X

I cant wait for my stamps to arrive. Love all your cards.
I must say I did not like my promarkers at all when I first got them. They definitely grow on you! It helps when you have a few more colours for blending as in the beginning I found I preferred my watercolour pencils (still love them), If you look on the promarker challenge blog (http://promarkerchallenge.blogspot.com) there are some great tutorials

I am enjoying playing with my new Christmas Stamp and since the two I did on watercolour paper with the pro-markers which I was happy with I have done another two on smooth white card and made them really vibrant instead of subtle and I love them. Will get round to uploading but I am very lazy as far as that is concerned so don't hold your breath!

Just meant to ask, out of interest, how many people actually make halloween cards? it isn't anything that we celebrate and I would never send a halloween card.

craftycairn
18-08-2009, 09:37 PM
Hi Val,

I am so looking forward to seeing your creations!

re your question:-

I have a lot of wonderful customers from the US and they are very into 'Halloween' and 'The Fall'.A lot of my halloween stamps are already winging their way to The States I have also sold a lot to UK customers too!

Last year I sent my grandchildren and young neices halloween cards and they just loved them! I added a spooky little ryme inside.

If you love card making like I do then any excuse to make a card will do! We released these stamps as a limited addition......there is only so many available. When they are gone they are gone and believe me they are selling fast!

TracyG_04
18-08-2009, 10:17 PM
I think the Halloween stamps are gorgeous, but Halloween is not celebrated here at all, although it is starting to be a bit more popular. Last year DD and some of the other kids from our road went trick or treating and a neighbour sent a letter to one of the other kids mums. Basically told her she was a satanist and shouldnt be allowed out and how could she call herself a Christian!
SO I dont think there would be much scope for me to make Halloween cards lol

VAL DER RE
19-08-2009, 09:39 AM
Hi Janet,

It is great that your stamps are selling to the US, they really are big into Halloween, probably as big as Christmas. I do know what you mean about any excuse to make a card, but I have such a small family and the few children that there are don't really celebrate halloween, although some of the designs would be lovely for birthdays around that time.

It just seems such a faff having to get the lighting right to take the photo of the card and then upload it to the computer, then play about with it etc., etc. A BIG exaggeration I know but that is how it feels to me. When I have finished a few other cards I will do them all at once, it doesn't seem worth it for one or two cards. I suppose because I am sat at a computer all day at work the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit in front of the computer.
