The tildas, sat down santa and Mary Christmas are the same size as normal Jakkie. The father xmas bent over handing out a pressie is a big stamp, just over 7cm wide and 10 tall. Funny thing is tho I just measured pink tilda with rose against the tilda I just used and there's only about 6mm difference but she looks huge.

angeljakki
05-11-2008, 02:35 PM
thanks for that sue, yeah I noticed that the tilda holding rose was bigger and wondered if they where just getting bigger in general but that santa sounds like its huge. Would be great for an A5(A4 folded) card

not sure if I can ask this, I've ordered a couple of old stamps from magnolia, whats the delivery usually on these.

debby4000
15-11-2008, 12:02 AM
If you actually ordered them from Magnolia, I always used a credit card that I can view online and usually once the payment shows up its about a week. If its from somewhere like one of the sponsors on here like Sir Stampalot its usually almost the next day but this weekend is NEC so it might next week before they can send them out.

117105 I cannot show my first card finished in my new surroundings yet - but this is on its way to Scotland and it was the second card. Pure bliss to work when everything is where it is supposed to be. Perhaps I can be creative without chaos afterall??? B)

Difficult to see, but title, 1st and the frame around the Magnolia girl is metallic red cardstock.
I used QK Bright, Mary Jane and Moxie. The craft cardstock used as background has been stamped with hearts using Versamark watermark ink pad. The large heart is a punch. I added 2 brads with white dots, glitter on cupcake and wings, mini rick rack and a QK envelope.

Thanks for looking

yeah, I have cut the circle then triple embossed the circle. Ink up the stamp and then stamp the circle while the embossing powder is still wet and that makes it look more like a metal charm

Some fab cards on here girls!
Sarah - I love the santa and snowman stamps!
That triple embossing looks fab Jakki, I might try that with my new catslife press xmas greeting. Although last time I tried it I got in a right state!!

.. made this for a little friend in Scotland - he is such a good boy and often helps his grandad in the garden - this Edwin was perfect on his card.

As much as I love to go overboard with flowers and frills and girly stuff - I restricted myself to male embellishments.

Dusted off my old Sizzix tree - quite like it for autumn cards.

I'm addicted to the tilda stamps. All the tilda cards on here are gorgeous. My tilda cards can be seen on my blog but are nowhere near as good!

Details on my blog. Turquoise and purple might not be the obvious choice for a xmas card - but I quite liked it for this one.

Emzy - I had a quick look at your blog - your card are pretty - the pink Tilda with the rose is beautiful. NOTHING wrong with cards with a pretty stamp and a few embellishments "less is more" you know - but sometimes I am just a "more is not enough - kind of gal.".)

Just wondering what size of base card you all tend to use when including a tilda image on your cards? A5, A6, 13cm or 15cm square??

CraftyCaz

I personally use a 5.75 inch square...so that I can use A4 cardstock....this is just slightly smaller than 15cm.

My youngest daughter will be 31 this Tuesday. Can't show this on my blog yet, as she is a frequent visitor there - but I did share how I found a FAST way of making the bling-circles. I coloured Tilda with the patterned paper in front of me - gee that's faster than colouring her and spending HOURS trying to match the paper to the image:D. Funny thing is - I never thought of doing that till one day my DH saw me searching through a pile of papers and said - "why don't you do that the other way around??". Guess he is not just a pretty face afterall :P:lol:

Happy New Year everyone!
I have a question....I wondered which is the best way to stamp and cut out your Magnolias.
Is it...1. Stamp and colour directly on card?
2. Stamp onto card, colour and then cut to image edge?
3. Stamp onto card, colour and then cut out leaving thin white border?
4. Any other suggestion?

I am sure it is probably a personal preference thing but I just wondered?

pinkladymel
01-01-2009, 05:12 PM
I am no expert as I only started last night but I loved to stamp.. colour.. and then cut out right to the image edge. If I mess up on the colouring then at least I haven't wasted time already cutting the image out!

I think you can get different effects by leaving a border. If you look through this thread you will see peoples work. Some people have left a border.. some people cut to the edge. You can see from this which you think looks the best.

I am sure it is probably a personal preference thing but I just wondered?

I think you have hit it just there.

I personally like to stamp, colour and cut out on the edge, as it lets the image blend in with the background better. It only takes a little long but that is what I prefer.

Lovely cards mel and that cake is lovely scrappy duck.

happy new year everyone.

tobysmum

Definetly a personal preference. I like to stamp them, colour them and then cut them out leaving a little border.

I have some new ones on my blog by the way ;) xxx

I am now the proud owner of some Magnolia stamps but before I start can I just ask how to you attach the stamp to the clear block ?, do you have to use anything or do they just stick to it ?, might sound like a daft question but I thought I'd ask anyway, many thanks..............

CraftyCaz
10-01-2009, 04:22 PM
Hi Victoria

If you bought them unmounted (no ezmount on them) then you need to use herma/DST or Pritt stick to attach the stamp to an acrylic block. If they are on EZMount all you need to do is peel of the white backing and they will cling to the block unaided.
HTH, and have fun.

Thanks Leeann, it all in the practice ... I had also watched a tutorial using the markers that I use and it helped ... But I've been colouring in stamps for a while now ... I use them a lot on layouts ... its the actually card making that I need help with ...

BTW, a question that I need help with ... what measurements do cards have ... I've been cutting 12x12 cardstock into fours, then folding in half ... what do you all do?

CraftyCaz

My cards are generally 5.75 x 5.75 inches, as they can be cut from a piece of A4 cardstock with enough scrap left over to make a couple of ATC's.

If you email me I will send you the links, as they are not a sponsor (florists).

How do you apply the inks Caz?

I use a paint brush and a small amount of water.....basically I water colour with them. I have used a water brush but have been known to make a mess and find it easier to have a little egg cup of water next to me....and them add more colour to deepen the shades....Marlene is much more of an expert...I have only been using them a couple of weeks.

Val, I make my cards up from sheets of A4 cardstock that I buy in bulk from the Papermillshop. Last time I ordered a whole box (like the ones copier paper comes in that holds 5 reams) that means I can make a 5.75 inch x 5.75 inch card with enough left over to make 2 ATC's.
