TEAM NOW FULL - NEW ONE STARTS SOON
I know there are a lot of newbies - or not so newbies who are a bit shy - out there who would like to be in a team and join in with the fun and games .... and the chat .... so I have decided I will start a new team for you .
I will help the team for the first month, after which time you should have found your feet a little and you will have picked a team leader from amongst yourselves.
Remember - there are fab new fun House challenges starting this year and you can't be in a house if you are not in a team. Now is the chance.
I WILL NOT be a full member of your team as I already have a team I belong to, but I will set you up, help you on the way and then you can just fly free.
I am interested in finding ten people -you DO NOT have to be a newbie but newbies are especially welcome- who would like to be in a team to
a) chat and get to know other people
b) collect points each month (It doesn't matter if you scrap little and your points are only ten a month!) and be prepared to submit them when asked
c) take part in challenges if and when you fancy them - You DON'T have to
d) meet other people in one of the four houses once you have settled as a team and take part in the new House challenges
e) Have FUN!
The whole idea of the team thing is to have fun and enjoy being part of a group. The points are for fun.
Remember, on every team are people of different abilities and interests and a mix of people who like to be online 24/7 and those who visit rarely. That is normal. remember not everyone will have the same time availability/limitations that you have. Please be understanding of this if you join ANY team.
This thread may help you decide if you want to be part of a team and tell you a little about the team set up here on UKS.
http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=196938"]ALL ABOUT TEAMS
Do make sure you really want to be part of a team before you sign up (check the link in this thread) and if you do - then please, come join us and play along.
If this all appeals to you then register your interest in this thread and I will set up the team. It's fun and will help motivate your scrapping. I can guarentee it

afternoon all,
welcome to barb,do you know what you are letting yourself in for??
I am off to do some Christmas shopping today as we only have 2 paydays to go and the next one is new years eve :( Still I am getting my pressie then as I will get what I want cheaper hopefully.
Anyone going to the Craft Fair in Exeter in Jan??
scrapdolly
08-11-2008, 01:00 PM
Some lovely names suggested her - I love the idea of Giggle Sisters LOL
The reason you need Excel is to fill in the ready made spreadsheet. It wouldn't matter I guess if the leader didn't have excel but it would mean soemone else would take responsibility for the points and that is the only thing the leader has to do.
You need a leader to be a team - but I promise, the spreadsheet is very simple and it only takes time once a month when you enter the points the team has scored.

awww, poor Shay! Tell him I'm sending him big cuddles, (btw - I'm sure that chicken pox is one of those sly picture moments, just don't show that page whenever he brings a girls home! lol)
My whiplash is nearly gone now thanks, feeling quite proud, drove again for the first time today. Only 2 mins from Sainsburys to nans but I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. Had to stop cos got a bit panicky but I made it.
Julie I hope you are feeling better, lots of tea and rest!
Sarah, it sounds like you need plenty of rest too! Watch you don't over-do it when the nesting kicks in! I got my hand slapped for climbing on the kitchen side to clean the top of my cupboards! (Not that I intended to put my baby up there of course but somehow you've just got to clean and tidy everywhere!)
Do you think we should decide on a team name and leader now or wait till we get a couple more people? I wonder how long we'll be here in 'limbo'?

Hi my name is Lesley and I'm mum to three girls who seem to be growing up so fast! I live on the Isle of Wight which is pretty quiet but I love it. I've been cardmaking for 18 months or so and really want to start scrapping. Have been lurking on the site for a while and have now plucked up the courage to join in more. I've only had a go at a few layouts and want to make more time for scrapping as so much on UKS has inspired me. Waiting for a Pagemaps book to arrive to give me some ideas and have the stash now just need to get cracking.
I would love to join the team and take part in things and above all make some lovely friends. Where I am a complete novice to scrapping I don't know if I would be suitable to be part of a team. I also love the suggestion of The Giggle Sisters for a team name if I'm lucky enough to be part of it. :D

Hi and welcome to Lesley and Faith!
Lesley, the best thing about being in team is the support and friendship you can get. It doesn't matter how much or how little you know, or how many LO's you can get done, just that we are supportive of each other.
Faith, I changed my email and I have had sooo many problems! TBH, it's easier to just set up a new account and let everyone know you have changed your name! (and your posts will soon be flying so you can pm etc!)
Well done on the challenge Barbara, my subscription to SI has just finished so having a teamie in a mag sounds like a perfect excuse to start a new sub - and get a cool freebie as a reward of course!
Hope everyone else is ok?
FaithUK
10-11-2008, 04:35 PM
That's what I thought Sarah.
BTW - I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Babs, a thirty-something Mum to two boys, and been happily married to DH for 10 years. We live in Kent, with our mad dog - Digger, and two recently adopted Goldfish - Patch and Tabs.
I've been a crafter for longer than I care to remember - my Mum reckons I was born with a pen and paper in my hand, but I am definitely "crafty" and not "arty". I'm not exactly a newbie - I've been scrapping for about 5 years, and owned my own online shop until this year when we had to close (I was a sponsor on here as well) It was a sad time, so I drew away from scrapping for a while - BUT NOW I'M BACK and enjoying it even more now that I've not got the stress of the shop!
So, I've got TONS of stash left over from when we closed down, and really want to use some of it up - so I'm hoping to get loads of points for the team lol.

I prefer the name Giggle Sisters, but will go along with the majority.
Someone asked how I had gone about entering the challenge for the magazine. (I don't know how to highlight the quote as my computer skills are naff!) It is a new challenge that they have just started in the last magazine and they asked if anyone wanted to have a go. I picked a LO that I was pleased with and was economic with stash that I have used and emailed it to them. They just asked me if I would like to have a go. I have got to have them in by 12th January ( it would be over Christmas wouldn't it?!) and my mind is now buzzing with ideas. I don't think they will be published until next summer, but will let you all know when the mag is coming out and how I get on.

Took the pics of my little spottolopicus,he posed quite well considering he is so poorly.I shall take them to Tesco soon.
Looks like I have lost everything on my laptop which is annoying as although most of it had been printed(thanks to the latest offer of 100 free prints) the latest pics had not yet been printed.....plus my family tree AGAIN!!
So I am now stuck in my freezing office on a old and slow pc when OH is around and I can't use his laptop.Still bonus was I did 12 lovely Xmas cards today!! Silver linings and all that I guess

I think a poll is a great idea.
Your little boy is good to have his piccie taken when he is poorly. I hope he soon feels better. My eldest daughter came down with chickenpox during my BIL's wedding and she looked so fed up. The trouble was she was a bridesmaid and every one kept telling her to smile. At the time she didn't much feel like it.
Such a shame to lose your family tree. Sounds like you had a good crafty time today though.

Hi All,
Spent the afternoon with poorly son making Christmas cards,he made a good job of them too so I may go to The Works and get another pack.We just added some Tesco toppers and some glitter and ages later we had 4 nice cards for the family :) And me and him got some mother/son time which was nice.
Tonight I am making some more cards for family and close friends...its not cheap but I am quite getting into it now.Never thought I would enjoy making cards but I really do now.

Hi ladies
so we are nearly full
I can't set a poll as it would mean everyone on UKS could vote on it.
I suggest you each post here your fave name and go with the one with the most posts IYSWIM.
Faith UK if you have excel and everyone is happy maybe you would be team leader.
I am sorry I am not around much - it is parents' evening week so mad at work.
See if you can decide on a name and then we will be nearly ready to set up a proper team.

Crafty Giggle Girls
The Giggle Sisters
Glitter Giggle Sisters

I don't have enough posts for PMs yet, but I think we need to weed it down to the top 4 then if there isn't a clear winner, we can have a vote on the final name. So, can you each post your fav 4 names from the list. Then I'll work out which one (or ones) come top.

Hi.
I'm more than happy for Babs to be our team leader.
I prefer the name ScrappinGigglers as well. Straight to the point and rather catchy!
I like the idea of doing something Christmassy as a team but I can't really afford to join in the organised one at the mo. I have craft stash overload! Hubby may turn a very funny colour if I do that as well as everything else. Perhaps we could think of something smaller to do between ourselves and then if anyone wants to join in with both they will be able to. What do you think?

Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been about much, my PC has been poorly!
Debbi, I hope Shay is starting to feel better. It seems you have your spark about you again hun. A count down to Christmas sounds like fun, esp as I have just finished my Christmas shopping so won't have anything to get me in the Christmas spirit!
Faith, I think it's a fab idea for you to be leader. My name vote is craftygigglers.

Well, I have to be organised as I have 4 children, my sister has 3, my hubby's brother has 4, and his 2 sisters have 4 each too! (There is also a 5th on the way so next year wil be even worse!) Thats without 8 cousins and 23 adults! Plus working at Argos is just too tempting sometimes!

Morning Sarah,
Good Luck at the hospital today,we all hope everything is fine.
I think it would be nice to organise a team Christmas countdown.I slept on the idea and thought if we could each start a mini album(6 x 6 or 8 x 8) and make as many pages as we like. Here some ideas.
1. 12 days of Christmas
2. 1st Dec-1st Jan
3. 1st Dec-Christmas Day.
Then we could all join in with prompts and/or ideas. No one has to follow it but if like me you have a brain full of mush, something a little structured might keep you on track.
I already have some ideas for pages.:P
OK now tell me off if I am becoming a exciteable child and running off with this idea please :wacko::wacko::wacko::wacko::nono::nono:

Well you buy packs of papers and then don't use half because all your pages would look the same.I swap some with Eannee as we both have bought paper stacks and then realised we would never use them all .:rolleyes:
Also I have lots of embellis I have never used, usually picked them up in a sale thinking I would use them and then don't.
I also find it hard to use up really bright coloured hand made papers.Impulse buying is never good!!

13-11-2008, 09:56 AM
I do just the same as you with papers etc. There is also the issue of buying things and them being too nice to use so just looking and stroking instead. I'm very guilty of that one.

Add to that 4 cats and 12 chickens and I think you'll see why I need to escape lol.
Anyway thanks for all the welcomes-the Christmas idea sounds great-wanted to do the shimelle one but not sure if I could justify the cost

Hi all, what a miserable wet day! I'm thinking I might actually get a page done today - although I really should be doing some work as I have a maths assignment due in a week! (I am doing an OU course).
It's been a long time since I have got anything done scrapbook wise, I've been working pretty much non-stop for the past year. I'm not sure where to start again now! I pressume that if I complete a weekly challenge from here we will be able to claim the points once we are 'officially' a team?
I feel a little stash shopping trip coming on.....

Hiya
From the original post it appears that there's a space left, and I'd like to join a group. I'll PM Scrapdolly to check but in the meantime here's some info about me:
I'm Tanya, 35, married, no kids yet but can't wait to start! I'm currently living in Bedfordshire but I'm moving to New Zealand soon, so I'm not sure whether you'd want someone that far away in your group, but as it's online I thought I'd see if you'd still be interested - I won't be offended if you think it wouldn't work as I'll be 12 hours ahead.
I love making cards and scrapbooking, I have a cat called Guiness who I adore and I'm just a regular gal who loves crafting, chatting, making friends and having a giggle.
I'm often online and love to participate in discussions and chats - friendship and support are my main interests in being in a group, so I might not be able to take part in every challenge, but I do upload my cards and LOs and would be up for having some fun.
Oh and I have Excel so although I wouldn't make leader being in NZ I could do the Excel bits for the group.
I like Scrapalicious and Giggle Girls.

I'm glad our points collecting has begun, I think the incentive of building team points will keep me focused. I have decided to do a rather ambitious project so need to get going if its going to be finished by August - I need 50 LO's! Hopefully some will qualify for challenge bonuses :)
Sue, I have always wanted to go to the big NEC shows! I was once on a coach on my way there with my nan, but we were both so ill we had to get off at Taunton! (Not even a quarter of the way!) I haven't attempted the journey since.

Got home and said friend was going to Asda,I need some red card(theres a PaperMill and The Works next to it) so went with her but we got caught in traffic so only went to Sainsburys so still stuck for red card.I live very rurally(sp) and don't drive so its hard to get to buy anything unless I get a lift somewhere.
Got home in time to sort out daughters cake, pressie and cards(15 today) and finally got 10 mins to sit and chat with you all.

Hi everyone, and a special hello to Sue and Tanya who have both joined since I last posted.
It has just occurred to me that I did not really introduce myself. I guess I am probably the grannie of the group as I am 57! I can hardly bare to type it! I have 2 children and 2 grandchildren, but I don't see them much as they are in USA. I don't see much of my daughter either as she is in Hampshire and I am in Scotland. I am a Social Care Worker and work in a Residential Home for the Elderly so I work shifts.
I have been a crafter of some sort all my life, and I was into flower arranging in a big way at one time. I started making cards first, and then started scrapping just over 2 years ago. I have a LO published for the first time in Scrapbook Inspirations magazine that is just out today in the shops. Mine is on page 75 if anyone is interested.
I may be being extremely stupid, but can someone explain to me exactly how the points thing works. Do we have to do all the challenges and do we let everyone else down if we don't do one for any reason? I really feel that I have too much on m y plate until after Christmas to do too much scrapping, but will try and do what I can. I certainly think it would be good to do some kind of challenge to introduce ourselves.
sillyscrapper
14-11-2008, 08:08 PM
Hi Barbara, basically the points are awarded for any LO or paper craft project you do, exploding boxes, circle journals etc. The challenges that are set weekly and monthly are optional, and you get bonus points for including the things they have specified, like blue ribbon or a song lyric in the title etc. You are by no means obligated to do any of them, or collect any points at all come to that. Some people use the points tally to spur them on, like I do - but only my personal points - and others aren't a bit interested. I feel very strongly that we should be a very supportive group, and celebrate the variety of team members. I wouldn't be happy to be in a 'clicky' team, or one that insisted on minimum points or posts. So my personal view is that we all do as much or as little as we like, and post as much or as little as we like.
Obviously these are only my personal feelings about the sort of team I would like and I already feel that we are going to be a great group. :)
