Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to die cut polymer clay using a big shot, and if so does the clay need to be baked or unbaked?
I like the effect of polymer clay shapes, but am not very good at getting them to look like the shape i intended, so thought maybe die cutting could be the answer.
Thanks
Caz :)

I can't remember her UKS name but there was def. a scrapper who worked with either Sculpy or Fimo and is a real expert in this - I want to say it was Em but I just cannot remember. Does anyone know? I think she would be the one to ask!

I've done this using the original red sizzix with their dies. Personally I always baked the clay first so that it doesn't make a mess on the blades and foam.
Works well too (unbaked) with the cuttlebug embossing folders, I usually put some cling film or paper between the folder and the clay so they don't get covered in clay though they are pretty easy to clean
Don't know how different things would be between using it in the red sizzix and the big shot due to the different way they cut, the sizzix being a push down action and the bigshot a rolling one.
Oh and if you have any of the fiskars texture plates then roll out you clay, place it over the plate and go over it gently with your rolling pin
Emy, is who you mean MA. She's a Bristol Scrapper. :D

What a great idea. Now have something else for my To Do list! - hve a red sizzix which works great with the embossing folders

I once decorated a cake using shapes cut out by putting ready-to-roll icing (rolled VERY thin!) through a Quickutz. Need to dust both the die and the rolled icing with icing sugar first

I've used Fimo with all my cake decorating cutters.... (washed them well afterwards!)

If you roll it thin enough you can put it in a paper punch too, keep a pin handy though to get the stubborn ones out!
Hi Caz,
My girlfriend, Maddy Hill has worked with Fimo for years, she may know. She hasn't been able to log in here for a while for some reason, but you could always ask on her blog or email her through there. I'm sure she'd be only too willing to help with any questions.
If you Google "Mad Imaginations", you'll find her there.
