You could also gather it quite lightly and make a border - just add a piece of cardstock (scalloped maybe?) over it, raised with popdots, so the ruffle is on show, but the gathered bit is hidden. Start with maybe 14 or 15 inches and gather down to 12.
Or what about adding a gathered ribbon ruffle to the edge of a minibook page? Or make a page using two CDs back to back with the ruffled ribbon between them, along maybe 3/4 of the edge (not the binding bit if you BIA it, but the whole edge if you book ring it.)
I'm sure I can come up with a few more - can't have wire edged ribbon languishing in your stash, now can we?
Oh I just did a quick search for wire edge ribbon - this (http://www.offray.com/73.html) link has some lovely versions, much nicer than mine. This SBS (http://www.vintagevogue.com/assets/images/pansypattern.jpg) is nice too - the written instructions are here (http://nostalgicneedleart.blogspot.com/2008/03/ribbon-pansies.html)
General ribbon How Tos (http://www.offray.com/howto.html)from Offray have potential too!

You can also use ordinary ribbon to get a similar effect to the wired flowers, by using a running stitch along one edge and gathering it up tight. It's a technique I've used in needlework with narrowish ribbon, and is probably more of a rosette rather than a flower though!

I have loads of wire edged ribbon that I bought to make bows for my Christmas tree, and what's left has laid in a box for about 5 years now. I can see my friends having white and silver flowers on their cards this year. Thank you, they're all excellent! xx
