Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I love the little bottles of flock and really wanted to use them on stamped images. I have a glue pad which is well inked(glued!) but I find that the flock doesn't seem to adhere very well and just rubs off no matter how long it's left to dry. I've tried on a variety of cardstock and doesn't seem to make any difference.
Anyone have any tips on how to get the best out of this?
Thanks,
Yvonne

I tried this in a class and didn't get on very well with it and then someone explained the trick. When the ink/glue is wet. put a LOT of flock on and squeeeeeeze it onto the surface.
Haven't tried it myself since but they others using it seemed to get it to work well.

I use a fine wet glue pen and draw with it. Could you stamp the image and draw over the lines. If you are using two colours, do the darkest one first and allow to dry then do the lighter one.

Ooooh - wouldn't flocked swirls look lovely? I have to admit I've resisted it because it sounds like there is the potential to make a HUGE mess and it's bad enough going to a meeting with rhinestones stuck to my trousers, if I showed up flocked it would be not very impressive :D

LOL MaryAnne - your right - it's even worse than embossing powder!
Swirls would look great and I have a lovely damask stamp that I wanted to try it with, and birds......
My table looked like it had black soot all over it when I had a small accident with the black flock:D

You can use pigment ink on stamps as an adhesive - stamp, then cover with flock and press down, then leave to dry :) Looks fab - works with glitter too :)

Oooh - great tip, thanks Vikki - I have just treated myself to some flock powder and used it with the adhesive letters , but I did try with glue, with no success. I had thought about using it with shapes cut from adhesive sheets because it works very well with DSS. Funnily I didn't find it messy at all, loads better than glitter, and just loved the effect!:)

Monica (Passionflower) gave me a fab flock demo at the GoGo Getaway. She used a SU product (Stamp and Stick?) heated it up with a heat gun covered it again in flock and then quickly over again with the heat gun to make sure it had stuck. Looked fab and I don't think much came off it.
I bought the Doodlebug glitter - and have only used it once cos of the mess involved!!

Hi Sharon, it's flock that comes in little bottles - like glitter or embossing powder. You can use it with glue, or double sided tape to make velvety designs. HTH

I had the same problem when I used the flock at the weekend, didn't help that the flock was a bit lumpy! think its a technique that needs a bit of experimentation and practise!!!

I watched JoolsG use the Doodlebug glitter at a PaperArts crop recently. She did a gorgeous layout with wavy lines drawn with a glue pen. She let it dry slightly and then rubbed on the glitter. Obviously that would work equally well with the DB flock.
I was so impressed, I was compelled to purchase both flock and glitter myself
I saw a demo where the girl pushed it down really hard with the back of a Teaspoon - it worked really well and none came off

Did you manage to get the flock working ok? The best way I've found with mine so far, is to put loads on, and then rub in circles over top of it, then put the excess all back over and press and then circle again, and it's worked perfectly
Think I'm going to invest in some d/s punch sheets, I just can't get it to work on wet glues..... ;) and rubbing that round in circles is just a blimmin' mess! lol

I tried the techniques again - still not great results with the glue pad but with acrylic paint got a fantastic result - love how it looks!
Many thanks again to everyone who took the time to reply

timely with the hoime page being all flocked....one of the links there suggest you do it 'upside down' so put the paper on the flock and push the paper into the flock rather than put the flock on the paper. I guess it is easier to apply pressure that way...
I bought some white flock this year was going to try it on Christmas cards but need to go think of a design now I know how to use it :)

Last time I used some flock I used the punch sheets, sprinkled the flock on and pressed down and then I lightly sprayed with hairspray - the same way you would seal chalk. It worked anyway cos nothing came off!

I have the glue pad by TSUKINEKO and well I just cant get it to work. I saw it at a demo and you know how it is you just have to get it.
The lady used it with ultra fine glitter and a rollagraph stamp it looked stunning.
I bought the lot got it home and tried it out. Wow it also looked stunning.
However the glitter just rubs off.
Did I miss something, is there a secret?

You need a Kirsty Wiseman demo with the DB flock. I saw her demo this at CTM and it worked really well and I have tried it too.
She used the sticky foam dots and stuck on the end of her finger then witht he glitter or flock tipped into the lid of the bottle it came in press the glue dot down into the glitter/flock. Rub it with your finger to make sure it sticks an any bald patches redo. They make really good middles for flowers.
Kirsty also suggested using a die cutting machine to cut out a shape etc on a sticky sheet and do the flock/glitter the same way but using a clear away tray so it is contained and you don't waste it.
Hope this ides helps someone.

You're very welcome BUT I really can't take the credit for it as I said I watched Kirsty demo it at CTM and I was amazed at it as it looks so good when it's finished.
