View Full Version : Indigo Mill challenge for September/October

Hi all!
We thought that this challenge thread for the sponsors was looking a little sad and forlorn, so we thought we'd bring it back to life!
So here is the Indigo Mill challenge for September/October - there are two elements to it, and both must be used on the same layout to qualify for the competition.
1) We want to see some nifty use of acrylic paint on your layouts.... and....
2) Some serious Alphabet abuse. Use at least 3 different alphabets / fonts on the same layout. It can just be a few letters from each alphabet, or complete overuse of alphabets.
To enter, scan or photo your layout and resize to no more than 600x600 pixels (same as uploading to UKS gallery) and email to designteam@indigomill.co.uk
Closing date is 9th October 2008 - and we will notify the winner and runner up by 20th October. (So we can send them their winning goodies!)
If you're stuck for alphabets, check our section out here (http://sfts.indigomill.co.uk/shop/category/alphabets/).... free P&P too!
Good luck! ;)

When I saw this first I assumed it was just for those on your October retreat but I've re-read now and see it's open to all. I'll have a think about it, thanks.

Thank you - am guessing the smile came from the journalling?
He really does have a personality of his own, he's a fighter - we got him from a Bonfire Fair and he was the smallest fish in a bag (4cm long) picked out by my son who was only 4 and we knew he wouldn't last - but 4 years on (and NO SWAPSIES, honest!) he is 8ins long, and every new tank costs us a fortune! :)
Yours is great - I never scrap myself but am considering a BOM and your LO has definitely shown me how important it is to scrap about ourselves xx
And I think you win when it comes to fonts there!

Thank you everyone who has entered!
Have just got back from our retreat weekend, so unpacking the shop and sorting niggles out, but will be judging these ASAP. Although if it's as difficult as the challenges over the retreat weekend, it may take some time!!

I wonder how many people , apart from those who have posted on here, actually entered?
leanie
17-10-2008, 05:57 PM
I hope there's quite a few - it would be a real shame if they'd revived the challenge only to find that people weren't interested!
Then again I suppose that there may be plenty who want to enter but miss the deadline, or are too busy to finish it (which is what normally happens to me - something ALWAYS comes up!)

Wow ladies,
You have made this one a really difficult one to judge!!
I'm uhming and ahing, so I'm going to have to call in some independant non-scrapping help... namely my husband, and tell him the challenge and see what he thinks, since I love them all!!
Will have you a winner tomorrow and don't worry, I have a demon challenge coming up next!

Phewee.... this was a tough one, honestly all the entries were fab!
I will put them all up in a gallery, but bear with me as it's only 3 per day!!
I really couldn't choose it myself, so I had to go to DH - told him the challenge and let him choose with his 'designer's eye' (even if it is just for websites)
And so (drum roll please) our winner is:
SHIRLEY YOW - the Simple Story of a Garden Chair. The crackle paint effect is fantastic, an inspired choice to use with the subject as it looks just like a plank of wood which was used for the simple chair. Well done Shirley....
Our runner up is:
HILARY BLUMER - with Ssssplash - We loved how the white paint looks like a water splash around the layout, it really brings it to life (and what are the little bubbly bits at the bottom of the photo!? Really interesting!)
Well done girls, please PM / email me your addresses to send your goodies to you.
Well done all of you in fact, I shouldn't be surprised, but I am with the top quality work I've come across! If you weren't lucky enough to win this time, keep your eyes peeled, I'm now putting up the next challenge, and it's mean!
