Hi, as im quite new to using ink and stamps i wanted to ask if you can use ink on photos ? either to stamp an image directly or to stamp the edges for effect?
I dont want to ruin any pics so would like to hear if anyone has tried this B)
If this can be done does anyone have a good technique for doing this? Pictures as examples would be great.
Thanks
ps , most of my inks are versa color if this helps.

This YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl18A8X5Yq0) shows using Distress Inks to colour photos
I'll collect some links and perhaps use this as the new Library post on the homepage next week. :)

They are - although I'm not sure how much Ranger would share about HOW different. They are dye based, not pigment ink based, so if you wanted to experiment I would pick a dye based ink to begin with and see what happens. I imagine the different types of photo paper would behalve very differently as well - glossy, coated, matt, silk finish will all probably give a slightly different look, take the ink differently, give richer or paler colours... minefield! But maybe quite fun for an afternoon of arty play :)

You can also sand the edges which takes the gloss off the photo and gives a nice aged effect. Then ink.

What a great idea to add interest to a photo. I've never thought of stamping onto one before but I will definitely be giving it a go. Thanks for bringing it up Kate.

'Staz on' inks work brilliantly and don't run off or smudge. I've put flourish style edges on photo's with these inks.

staz on is the best, and it dries very fast, some of the others I have to blow on them before touching or else it smudges

I have also used chalk inks directly on photos to distress them - and I have coloured in certain parts to "age" them further ...
