Thought I would start us off with somethng that I mentioned in a General Scrapping post on Matting and Layering. Hard to phto a two-handed technique with one hand on the camera, but I hope I have managed to do it :)
There is both a JPG with all the info, and the text here - still experimenting with what will work best for people.
What you need:
your photo
acrylic paint
washable work surface or protective paper
Fan brush
You can use other types of brushes but this one seems to work best for me.
How to:
1. Load the brush with paint - more paint means a heavier, thicker edging.
2. Hold the brush perpendicular to the edge of the photo
3. Drag the brush down along the edge of the photo.
4. Work your way around the entire perimeter, being careful to hold the photo in the middle to avoid smudging.
(You can do one side at a time, allowing the paint to dry between sides, if you prefer.)
5. Leave to dry on a protective surface.
Drying time will vary depending on how thick your edging is. You can add additional colours to the edge once dry - black or white are good choices.
You can do the same with glitter glue, or with wet adhesive - add glitter while wet, or allow to dry tacky and add gold leafing for a different look.
