Spent a long time on the phone yesterday and it does not look good for getting a space.

Was invited down to have a look behind the scenes but I have been there as a shopper and dont think that there is an big secrets I need to take 3 days off work to find out.

With the way trade is some one might pull out, she had 5 last minuet pull outs last time but does not think there will be any for October. There is a list of stands up on the web site for those who want toc check out whos there.

Just stamps, but they say if we demo we need to have the other things to sell too. I would much rather pass the trade on to another stand as to demo I would need
acrylic block
stazon
pens
blender and then if we take it on to a card, trimmer , paper, gems, ribbon........

I might take the whisper christmas gift set as you are getting all three sets for the price on one, but its bulky and we only have a little stand.

I dont know, I have not slept much thinking over how to show them off, which ones to take, security, payments etc

Hey everyone, seeing as most of you are going to the SECC in October, I was wondering if any of you had been to the one in March of this year? I bought some lovely handmade mulberry flowers from a stand called Purple Elephant. Unfortunately they don't have a website and are not on the stand list for this show in October. I am having trouble finding anyone who sells the same flowers, and as I am running low, I am desperately trying to get some more! Do any of you remember that stand? Does anyone know where I can get the same stuff from again? I was so looking forward to stocking up at the show but was really disappointed when I checked out the lists of exhibitors and they were not on it! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hiya Floppy. Welcome to UKS!

I can't quite remember the shop but were they prima flowers in a bottle? Or aunty sarah's bloomers (http://www.sarahscardsltd.com/shop/213/254/index.htm) or angel kisses (http://www.scrappingangels.co.uk/zencart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=165_176) ones? Many of the sponsors have these ones.

Hi Floppy, did the stand also sell stamps? If so I have the details of the website but since it is non sponsor I don't want to get into bother posting here... gimmie a shout

Hi Elin, thanks for the welcome :)

Unfortunately they are not either of the ones you suggested! Although they could be similar ish to the angel kisses...I have a photo, which would help...is it ok to post it here?

Hi Heather, As far as I know they didn't have a website, and I don't remember seeing stamps but can't be sure! I hadn't yet tried stamping in March so wouldn't have been that interested in stamps...I will be at this show though!

03-10-2008, 02:19 PM
Hi girls

FLOPPY - Purple Elephant, I actually spoke to the guy who owns the stall and he explained to me they are actually based in the far east (I think Thailand) and only make a couple of UK trips per year so they are only avail through the shows. This is the only show I saw him at though. Hope this helps and explains why you can't track them down, I hope they are there this year as well.

OK, I will wear my crop badge so if no one says hi I will be annoyed !

Floppy
03-10-2008, 03:08 PM
I think you might be right that I need more posts first but will have a go at putting on a photo later!

Poet Crafty, I think we are talking about the same guy here! Glad someone remembered! I seen some of the same flowers in someone's ebay shop ages ago and they said they were from Thailand too, so that makes sense...Unfortunately I can't remember who's shop it was and can't seem to find it again! Maybe they'll be at the craft fair next year...I have been so looking forward to stocking up and will be really disappointed if I can't get any in a couple of weeks :(

I'm going with a bus load from Ellon. I've never been before so don't know what to expect. Are there bargains? Are there classes? Any tips on how to spend my time?

maggiemae
10-10-2008, 09:32 PM
No classes - ocasionally there are some makes & takes but these are few and far between. Quite a few stands have people doing demos. Some stands have offers on but in recent years these have been less and less. Basically it is just good to go and see a huge range of stash in real life rather than photos online.
Its normally very busy at the weekends - if you are having lunch there I recommend going earlier or later than normal to try and beat the rush. There is usually somewhere you can sit if you take your own packed lunch with you.

There will also be demonstrations in the craft theatre - see attached schedule

Annette25
10-10-2008, 09:53 PM
Great tip about the packed lunch. I hate being hungry! We're stopping on the way up the road for a high tea but I'll need something to keep me going, so I'll make sure I have some snacks with me.

I had a great day too but my feet are killing me It was nice to say hello at the sugar nellie stand. Strangely enough I hardly spent anything this time (not like me) but I got in one of those dithery moods and just couldn't make up my mind about anything. Too much choice I agree there were fewer scrapbooking stands and a lot more bead and jewellery making ones

This morning I was there just as it opened. Lots of nice stuff. As usual spent a lot at craftworks cards - MME laundry line & Coredinations. Also got the Tinkerbell cricut cart - couldn't resist.

I loved it, great banter with the girls, very sore feet, had lost the Sugar Nellie Fizz by late Sunday and I am realy sorry if you visited after we were all fizzed out. I can not tell you what hard work that was and I am full of respect for the folks who do shows all the time.

BTY for all of you who need to update your piccy ( Tracey thats you ) and maybe I could not put a name to the face, I am so sorry but it was lovely to meet you all and hear such nice things about your sugar addiction.

Loved Craftwork cards, my fav stand. Stopped wandering about so much on Sunday as my feet were sore even in my slippers and folks would ask me questions on other stands, I should have taken that lovely apron off:rolleyes:

We had never done a show before but other stands says that it has been quiet, Sat seen the most people in the show but not spending as much they said.

I enjoyed the show this time - went on Sunday morning expecting to be in and out in half an hour. However it was quite quiet and we didn't leave until after 1 o'clock!

Lack of crowds meant the chance to get a proper look at stuff.
