I have just found this blog - Indigo Inklings (http://indigoinklings.blogspot.com/2008/04/diagonal-cuttling-for-cuttlebug-users.html) and it is fantabulous. Jay has done some experimenting with cuttlebug folder has has some fab tutorials.

Look down along the right hand side and there is a drop down menu for Cuttlebug tutorials plus loads more.

Have a play and see what you can come up with

Hello I am very new to cuttlebug folders and have a sizzix and wondered how members have made cards using two different cuttlebug folders on the same card is there a way you need to put your paper or card in - do you do each pattern separately or at the same time. You see I am a total novice. is there a tutorial I can view to help me. Your advice would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Hello Autumn
I'm a Newbie too and use Cuttlebug folders in my Sizzix. Embossing them separately is the way I've been doing it, but if that's not the best way I'd love to know another way.

Autumn

If you look at the very first post, there is a link to a site that has loads of tutorials about using the folders. Also have a look here (http://www.heartprints.net/gallery/CBUG/). This lady had loads of examples of cards made using the folders too.

I read a similar technique , using this silcon rubber - think they said it was available in the plumbing dept used as a gasket material. Spent an hour skulking round B&Q last week with no luck !! I bought a cheap mouse mat but it's too deep. If anyone can help I'd be greatful too.
Rosie:thanks:

I've been asking this question for months and still no wiser, it's probably something very available that we could use but it's just finding out how and what. good luck if you find out let me know please.

If it's one of the indogo inklings lady's tutorials, she mentions both a Sizzix silcone pad and the Wishblade (sorry I'm a bit befudssled this should be the Wizard) tan pad. I'm sure you can buy the tan pads separately as replacement parts. Also Oyster Stamps sell an embossing sheet for the Cuttlebug.

If you can't find any of these, look for parchment craft (aka Pergamano) embossing pads as recommended by Christine Coleman, they are large sheets of (a bit smelly!) thin black squidgy rubbery stuff that should probably work just as well.

The embossing mat for the Wizard will work as well. Forgot that this thread existed or you would have had an answer earlier. Have now book-marked it. We have a Cuttlebug Social Group on here for those interested.

thanks guys , I was wondering about the oyster stamps one, now can any one point me in the direction of how to use it, I've seen cards where there are multiple embossed images used where the rubber has been placed round I presume the edge to stop indentations but not sure how to go about it, ta

Can I suggest you have a good read of

http://indigoinklings.blogspot.com/

She does loads of tutorials with photos on avoiding marks round the edges etc. All in the archives. She uses both the 'bug and the Big Shot.

I use one of these black mats sold for parchment craft embossing, I think they are made of rubber (smells like it!) the smell goes after a while especially if you keep washing it (Christine also suggests using a silicone furniture polish!)
They are about 2 or 3 mm thick. I don't think they are made by Pergamano. (the P word is a brand name but dear old Dawn Bibby chooses to ignore the fact that there are many other suppliers of items for parchment craft.)
You can get them A4 size from several suppliers, they are quite cheap.
I ruined one using it for perforating so I cut it into 2 & it works a treat with my BigShot.

You might need to experiment with different thicknesses of card shims to get perfect results.

thanks cattlady, I'll check this out, but I'm also still wondering about the cuttlebug one, who would have thought that something so easy for some people would turn out a nightmare for others lol, all I want to do is get the most from my cb.
thanks again

I've never seen the cuttlebug mat for sale before this week so I assume it must be a fairly recent offering, which will be why people have come up with the other options. If you want to use it, just go ahead - the only way to discover if things work is try them out. :P

Maybe I'm too late to help you but I cut out a rectangle out of a silicone cake tray. It has to be flat and not bumpy. It's the correct thickness. I got two sheets out of my silicone cake tray. If this could help you. :comp: Good Luck.

You can buy silicone baking sheets, some have markings on but some are plain. I chopped one up to make mats for the Cuttlebug, they happened to have them at a discount store so it wasn't expensive.

I also work with one on my desktop because everything comes off them really easily, just rinse with soap and water. It also stops cards and stuff from slipping around.

finally got a mat, it's a proper one for the wizard which apparently works great in the bug, also bought some nesties.

Just thought I'd say do be careful when embossing with nesties, if you force or use the wrong mat you can easily break your Bug! I have a blog which features tutorials and tips on using Nesties and the Cuttlebug. You are very welcome to pop in and if any questions please contact me. Tomorrow I will be showing you how to stencil with your Nesties and also have a hot tip for embossing Nesties without any mat at all!

thanks Ikki, do you know where i could get a list of 'sandwich' instructions ideally for the bug, ie. which to use for cutting/embossing etc.
Ideally some that I could print off so I could have them to hand.
