I already have the Fuji 6500 camera but would like to have a compact camera with an optical zoom of 10x.
Does anyone have any of the Lumix TZ range & would you recomend it.

Thanks

Hi Jackie, I have the Panasonic Lumix TZ3 and have to say its a great camera, I'm no expert but its miles better than my Sony Cybershot, would thoroughly recommend it :D

I have a TZ1 which also replaced a Sony Cybershot, again I'm not an expert and almost always use it in simple mode but love it and the 10x zoom is great

My Mum has just got the TZ5 and she loves it. I've had a play with it as well, and I'm very jealous!

It's very easy to use, has an easy menu system, fab zoom, good face recognition and of course the super dooper Leica lens.

I'm about to upgrade to a bridge camera, and the guy in Jessops was really enthusiastic about the Panasonic Lumix FZ-18, so I thought I'd check here (UKS being the font of all wisdom, of course) and found this (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=226032) thread. Nuff said, that is (hopefully) what DH has got me for my birthday and I'm really excited.

Got the TZ 2 and the FX30, both fantastic cameras and would thoroughly recommend either. The TZ range is nice and small enough to fit in your handbag, has a great LCD screen (certainly dont have to squint to see) and the Leica lens is superb. 10x zoom plus digital gives a great range, good enough to get anything I need at fantastic quality. Used both on Big Cat safari earlier this month, really pleased with results.
Oh and my sister has FX 18! One hooked family!

If you put the models in this (http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/camera/specification/compare.html) site you can compare the features.

I'm a bit of a dumbo with cameras, but I THINK the FZ-18 is a 'bridge' and the TZs are smaller digitals, but with lots of features and lots of pixels. But I could be wrong!

Cal - I have the FZ-10 and FZ-30 which are as close as you get to SLRs without getting a mortgage. The TZ range are very small, and have an excellent zoom but you don't get all the manual features that you'd get on the big boys. The FZ-18 is somewhere between the two for features but has a stonking zoom.

Leica is a brand of lens, and this is what you get on the Lumix range. It's a fabulous lens and you get superb quality photos.

I'm hankering after a TZ-4 after seeing a couple of friends with the TZ-3, and handling the TZ-4 in a shop recently. I do have an FZ-01 though, which means I can't quite justify another small camera.

Cal, Leica are pretty much *the* coolest cameras *ever* - take a look here (http://en.leica-camera.com/home/). I have a savings account specifically set up to save for my dream Leica.....in the meantime, I am very happy with the quality of the piccies from my FZ18 with Leica lens, but one day, one day!

Yipee my FZ18 just arrived, can anyone recommend a good camera case. I went into Jessops today and the girl in there was not really that helpful.

I took my camera with me to Tesco (It is a very large Tesco) and found a case for £9.00

The Lumix case specially made for it came free with my camera. I've seen them on the auction site very cheaply (they come up if you type in 'Lumix FZ18'). I'd recommend it, it seems to fit everything in fine, with room to spare, and has pockets for spare memory cards etc. I haven't actually used it outside, however so have not tested how field-friendly it is.

I've got the TZ3 - OH got it for my Christmas pressie. I have only used a Kodak Easyshare previously to this so it's like a whole new world opened up - am still figuring out the features but I love it to pieces, have got some beautiful pictures out of it - definitely recommended :)

Hi I just did a search on the auction site and put in the nameof the camera, and loads of cases came up and I got one for a fraction of the cost they were in Jessops. I only ordered it yesterday after Dancing Queen advised about it and couldnt believe it when it came today.

I just had a play around with the TZ5 and loved it. After looking at this thread, I think that I will definitely be getting one! The guy in the shop yesterday was so helpful and managed not to laugh when I said that my current camera has a whopping 2 megapixels! It is 5 years old and one of the reasons that I want a new one!
