Here's the thread for you Prismacolor users to share your experiences, discuss any issues and ask the Prismacolor experts for advice and help.

This is intended to be an informative thread to share practical info so either post here with information and answers or PM users directly. Please don't post "PM me"/"I've PMed you" posts. :)

For an introduction and comprehensive information to get you started, check out the Definitive Guide to Prismacolor (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=223253).

Smooth cardstock - the smoother the better - and don't give up - practice makes perfect - they are not as easy as watercolours - but the colours are amazing!:D

Need a bit of advice please :) I got my Prismas a few weeks ago and did quite well with them, I use Versafine ink and everything was fine. But then I needed more card and got ******** Up Whispers White as quite a few people recommended this. I stamped more Magnolia images about a week ago and only last night got round to colouring them in - so the ink should certainly have been dry. But when I started to colour with the Prismas - before I even started to blend with Sansador - certain parts of the stamped images started to smudge very slightly. As this didn't happen before, I can only think it's the smoothness of the card combined with the Versafine ink. I think I've read that some people use Stazon ink - would this be the answer? I don't mind buying some but don't want to waste money if this wouldn't help. Would very much appreciate advice - thanks a lot!! :)

I use stayzon for my images as I found that my versafine smudged too. I'm in Oldbury, if your anywhere near I could either send you some or we could meet and give you some stamped with stayzon for you to try before you buy.
Let me know

Gosh - that was quick!! Thanks so much Tracie that'd be really helpful. Either would be great, but if you could send me a couple of images it'd probably be better as I'm on public transport and although I'm not far away I don't know Oldbury that well - except for the Savacentre - I can find my way there!! :) I'll be in touch - and thanks again for your kind offer.

has anyone ever had any success with the stumps and sansodor method that are NOT Prismas? Would be interested in knowing.

Thanks

Hi,

I've used Faber Castell PolyChromos and got pretty good results.... I also heard the Derwent Coloursoft do the same job. HTH

I got my Primas last week and just before I got them I found 72 Rexel Cumberland Derwent Studio pencils, hardly used that I got for doing my Art A Level (about 400 years ago)........................I have just done a Derwent vs Prisma test and I can't tell the difference!!! They seem to do the same job - yay!!!

Ha ha!!! My friend took delivery of her new Prismas, so I went over for a play and they are soooooo much better than the Coloursoft so I have succumbed and bought 132 prismas and I have managed to sell my Coloursoft:lol:

Went in search of Prisma today and I've not been able to track any down yet. The art shop suggested Derwent Artists but they don't seem to smudge - unless I'm doing it wrong. I'd be grateful if anyone could recommend a supplier for a reasonably priced starter set.

Stumbled upon the Prisma Phenomena this weekend, by complete accident....and have ordered some pencils from across the pond. Can't wait for them to arrive. hope they don't take too long.

Have ordered some Zest it and managed to secure a 'winning bid' for a whole load of paper stumps for less than £2 so can't wait to have a go. The results I've seen look absolutely amazing!!!

I can't believe I am soooo excited over....pencils.........

Well I tried to play with my prismas today and it seemed to take me an our just to colour two pictures. I also noticed that when using pale colours like yellow and peach, grey comes from the smudger (forgotten it's name) and makes a nasty grey smudge. What am I doing wrong? Getting rather tempted to ditch them and try the promarkers but I want to give them a decent shot before I give in so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm a new Prisma owner since my DH bought me the 132 set for my birthday. I'm experimenting away but not getting anywhere like the results that you guys have in the gallery..fantastic work there. I've one question though, I can't get sansador and was wondering if Daler-Rowney low odour thinners was the same thing?

Don't know but I managed to find some Sansador by Windsor and Newton in my local art/stationery shop and what a difference it makes, worth the extra time/efffort.
