i was trying to listen to a tv show theme song from years ago, and clicked on something that downloaded to my pc. norton blocked a trojan.zlob and about 3 other trojans. now i have two programs on my programs list ( in add and remove programs)called "internet service" and "secure browsing" that i cannot get to delete. it insists i restart my pc before it will let me delete them  i recon that is a bad idea!
i have norton running a full system scan ATM but i wondered if anyone knew how to get this trash off my pc.
my toolbars list has this new one added and i cant get it to click off or delete. :(
anyone know what i need to do? ( other than use another pc to change all my passwords :o)

its called "security toolbar 7.1" and looks a bit like the norton toolbar but im not clicking on the two hyperlinks to see where they go. *gulp*

Tracey some good info here on this trojan - http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-zlob but since you are running Norton you should perhaps look at their instructions for removal. http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2005-042316-2917-99&tabid=3

Glad it worked out for you Tracey :) Another programme you might want to consider is UniBlue SpyEraser (under £20)...but it is MS certified. I run it every couple of days just to check I am free of all nasties.

One thing to remember about Norton is that cos it's the most popular of the virus protection software, most virii (?) will be aimed at it as a weak point. I'm not dissing Norton but it's just summat to be aware of...

well i would diss norton - i had tons of probs resulting in having to wipe my entire hard drive and start again - i wouldnt touch it with a bargepole now! use AVG which i free, and have never had a problem (touch wood!)

I agree with that 100%!! I had nothing but trouble with norton, but now AVG is fab:D:D
Also DH has Mcafee(sp) and that is pants too-slows the laptop down to almost dial-up speed:(, but can't remove it for some reason-so has to wait til his subscription is up (in Aug) so he can then cancel!

i used adware alert and spybot to clear the mess made by my careless clicking and now its working fine :)

leigh - there is a free forum www.techsupportforum.com its worth checking there, as i know they have instructions to full remove norton (uninstall doesnt get rid of all of it!)

(if this link isnt allowed please remove it.)

Totally agree with others re Norton:( It is IMHO total pants. I had to have my hard drive totally wiped to get rid of it and the numerous viruses it let through. Have now got AVG and since then have had no problems at all, even with an over enthusiastic DD on the pc, who doesn't seem to realise that the random clicking she does seems to attract viruses:)
