Claire their probably won't be a sneak peak of Lidas it is an acrylic travel album. She does not normally do sneak peaks, just her teaching style is a big pull for her classes. She does lovely projects.

Oooh that's lucky - I've booked Lida's On The Road Again class! Booked it as I liked the sound of the class and haven't been brave enough to tackle an acrylic album before!

Can't believe that in a months time it will all be over (although we'll all be making everyone jealous at the crops we go to :) )

one of my ladies at my crop today had the MM tote in green so I had to try it on for size!!;)

I did have my money saved up for stash shopping but we were burgled last night and my handbag was stolen and I lost £180 ( I know I shouldn't have that amount on me! hindsight is a wonderful thing) so I won't be doing too much shopping now - if any.

Worth checking.

Hi Lorraine,

That is just rotten!

We were broken in to 17 months ago now and they took everything - and what they didn't take... they destroyed!

Your insurance should cover monies in the home and things like that. I think that we had cover in ours up to £500. They pinched the kids money boxes... how bad hey!

The worst thing isn't what they took - its the fact that someone has beeen in you home.. through your things... you feel violated.

You are quite lucky our burgurlars took passports, car docs, driving licences (the paper bit), bills etc... the cheeky sods then claimed for credit and such like in our name!!!!

They have never been caught and the police had told us that we were very unlikly to ever get anything back - the night that it happened!

I hope that it gets sorted for you real soon!

Mi x

thanks for the messages ladies, the police have just come to take a statement, they seem to know the gangs of little s***s that do this.

We have notified the phone people, banks, house insurance etc.... Just all the paperwork to do and reciepts to find.

Apparently another house a few doors up from ours was done too.

I think a glass or two of wine is needed tonight!

Know that feeling Lorraine - you poor thing. We've been burgled twice - last time whilst we were sleeping and they took our video camera with all of our first son's baby videos still in the tape in the camera. I've never really been able to get over that.

Someone posted on the other thread that the tools list per class (and photos) is on the main SAG website (need to go into Registration area, View/Edit Classes then tools list).

Not all the classes tools lists are up yet, but quite a few are. Need to sort out photos for a couple of classes so hopefully get that done in the next week or so.

Yes Sharon, we are both excited now that we have time to sit and play and think about what we are doing.

I dont know if this has been mentioned anywhere but the Teresa Collins moment in time tool list does not mention photo's but if you go into class description it does mention what photo's you need. You need 1 5 x7 vertical (portrait) and 3 x wallet vertical (portrait). As the kit is black and pink i am going for B & W pics

But I did get an email from Patricia at SAG saying ...Claire - why have you not booked any classes ?.... and I nearly died !!!
Turned out I had registered ( although not booked) for the Stratford SAG as well as the Holland SAG and they thought I hadn't booked any classes for Stratford ( which I hadn't ) and were wondering why !! Hope that makes sense !! Anyway I had a minor panic but it's all sorted now and I've explained that I'm only going to the Holland one . Phew !

Hi all, got my letter yesterday too. Shocked that I had to come up with 25 memories as well as photos for CD's album track. At least it will give me lots to mull over for the next few days. I think I'd better order another ink online too ..... don't want it to run out before I've printed all that I need. I might have some printed elsewhere, but a lot of them are odd sizes and need printed off at home. I've gone from not planning on taking any photos to having to take loads (CD's DIY, Arch-i-tecture, Doodling for Dummies, On The Road Again and Spice Girls!) I was going to try to make a planner but will put that on hold now and just concentrate on getting the photos ready.

got my letter yesterday... and current trawling the 2007 photos for the donna downey class... getting there.

Just printed out my 4x10 photos for the architecture class with Karen Burniston... just working my way through the other photos needed for the classes.

OH is heading to Asda tomorrow to sort out printing out the photos he took at a close uni mate's wedding last weekend. So I might as well get 150 of them sorted (we need 20 a month!!) so its the cheapest rate for the 6x4 (the size I usually scrap anyway... no size has been given so I figured go with the size I usually scrap...). Getting there, at least the manic flat tidy isn't needed as I don't have a sister descent mid week ... but will still be tidying up and sorting out my kit (its getting put in fruit box as I come across it ready to pack in hold luggage...).

Can't wait to be in the foreign flat land ... really looking forward to staying by the dunes in the YH on the thursday night and being back in Hema's stationary section (... which I get to visit on the way to the YH as that's where the bus stops!).

I went into panic mode when I realised all those photo's. I decided on Holidays, got all the old pics out spread them all over the lounge 3 days ago and they are still there, it's daunting, I wish I had not started. I have realised I take naff photo's. I think a scanning and cropping session is the order of the day. I am so exited now. Once this is done I am nearly ready. I plan on finishing by Sunday so I am not panicing at the end. I haven't even checked my passport yet.

My letter was here all the time - just buried under a heap of the boys stuff . Scary stuff all those photos but I think they may put the lists up in case you have any spare time to actually complete the project there ( as if !!) . Think you probably need the arch-i-tecture on eto make it work but other than that I'm going to be brave and not worry too much if I haven't got them all . May try to get at least half of CDs album track photos and stories together . I'm going to go for a 'random' theme  ha ha - favourite word in our house as our lives are pretty random !!
Don't want to have to panic about getting ready . Haven't even started yet . Going to Enfiled megacrop today then plan to sort at least my toolkit when I get back tonight.
Can't believe it's so close now.
Yuk day out there - perfect photo sorting weather !!

Angela - I doubt we will finish anything :D Take the bags/boxes and bring it home to do at MJ's crop on the 29th!! The instructions are usually really good, so you can finish later, and the teachers don't mind you taking photos of their example to help you when you leave class. You are absolutely right there is no point hurrying things or in getting stressed, the whole idea is to enjoy the weekend doing something you enjoy.

In fact - I still have classes to finish from Scrapaganza 2006 and 2007

I'm struggling on the 25 memories as well. If anyone has any bright ideas please post them here. So far I've come up with the obvious wedding, engagement etc. I did think about holidays but it would be too much work to get them all scanned and then printed. Really looking forward to the class though.

One idea .... open both files in whatever image editting software you're using.

On one photo, increase the size of the canvas (not the size of the photo) on one side by 4 inches (so the canvas is now 8x10"). Copy and paste the other image and align so the two photos are side by side. Save combined image using a different name to the first image.

8x10" is a standard size so just upload and select to print at this size. All you'll need to do when they come back from the printers is cut it down the middle.

The other alternative is to upload the images singlely and print as 8x10". There's be white space which you can trim off but will work out more expensive. Really depends on how much time you have to play about.

I'm wondering if rather than 25 memories , I can write about 25 people who've had a major part in my life or a positive influence ,then all I have to do is make sure I've got 25 photos of them all !? Hoping this plan would still fit the theme.

I've spent all day sorting photos having just read Stacy Julian's Photo Freedom book. Must say , I never want to see another photo again ! It was a nightmare - about 25 year's worth of photos !!!

Anyway , as a result and having sorted them into categories rather than chronologically , all sorts of interesting 'themes' started to emerge which wouldn't have done had I left them in their boxes .

Thanks girls :)
I have the list of photos for Words to live by, You are my sunshine & Arch-i-tecture.
So I'm looking for Pretty in Paint, Heartfelt Memories, Colour Trends, Judge this book by its covers, A moment in time, {note}worthy - the story continues, and Cds Appetizer(but think there was nothing listed for that).

I am doing Words to Live By but the letter I got out doesn't say to take photos. Edwina can you tell me what photos I need to bring (size and theme).

I am also doing Heartfelt Memories but the letter doesn't state any photos for that one.
Edwina now I am panicking!!

Can I just repeat myself?

Unless the class description says you really MUST have the photos to do it - don't bother!

For my first SaGa I went to the expense of printing over 100 photos - and I still have most of them sitting there unscrapped - they were totally WRONG for the papers and projects, and I just added the pics later when I got home.

TBH you are so busy in class doing other bits and pieces that you probably won't get round to doing much with them anyway, and if you are anything like me - you'll be rushing off to your next class staright after and won't have much (if any) time to sit cropping to finish off.

Edwina - I am doing Colour Trends and Judge This Book by Its Covers - there are no photos listed for either of these classes in the letter.

According to the letter you do need:

Colour Trends: Corner rounder, adhesive, double sided tape, scissors, decorative edge scissors, paper piercer, crop a dile

Judge This Book: Corner rounder, adhesive, double sided tape, scissors, paper piercer, crop a dile

oh just noticed {Noteworthy} is on your list - no photos listed for that one either. :)

Just the usual (ie as above) plus stapler. Also tag maker punch if you have it (I don't but I am sure there will be enough to go around in the class)

And I agree with Carolyn - please don't stress about the photos.

So are you saying we shouldnt stress about getting the whole 25 pictures and stories ready for the cd album track. Realisticly are we likely to do no more than 4 or 5 lo's.

Still no joy getting into the site, anybody else still having trouble

No Sarah I can't get in either.

I think that's right. I mean how long is CD's class - 3 or 4 classes?
If you get all 25 done that's either 6 or 8 layouts an hour! That would be good going!
I suppose the advantage of having all 25 done is that a) you are more likely to finish it all off later at home and b) you will have a choice of photos/memories to use when you see the products being used.

I think I'm right in saying that when Dawn/Diane/Frances etc did the album track with melodee a few SAGs ago they had to take photos for all the letters of the alphabet and then only had time to do a few layouts at the event. Perhaps Dawn can confirm :D

Making a decision, splitting down to 12 then, so i can concentrate on what she says.

I questioned the lack of photos for most the classes, have been to SAGA a few times, I found that whilst I had masses of photos I never needed, there were classes, particularly the layouts and canvas class that you just could not do without the photos.

I was told on the SAGA forum that if the photos won't listed then they can be added later.

Most the classes have be designed to add photos later in response to feedback form previous years.

I did Melodee's class where we had to have photos of every letter of the alphabet and I finished about A B and C at SAGA!! On the plus side it did mean that I was ready to finish the album when I got home as they photos were all together and sorted.

hope this helps

Yes that is right we didn't get very far with the A_Z album even though it was 4 classes, you will never manage to do 25 pages. Unless we see sparks flying from your herma.
Don't stress. I would say 12 photos would probably be sufficient unless she has you doing homework for her next class.
Unlikely though.

I haven't bothered with photos since my first SaGa - I have a few pieces of 6x4 or 7x5 paper in my bag which I use for placement if i have to, but TBH I rarely use those either. I'm a pretty fast worker in class, and I hardly ever get to the point of putting photos in, particularly if its a 1 hr one

I did the 4 class A-Z album too, and whilst I admit to taking pics for that, I ended up with a B&W set and a colour set as until you see the actual class kit, you can't be sure that your pics will go - either on theme or colour. We did all the prep work in the classes, using the stamps and punches we needed to prepare the 26 pages (lots of stamping with Meldee), and I think I managed 2 of the 26 pages while I was there. Mind you - it solved the problem of what to take to local crops for several months as I just took that lot along with me

I couldn't figure out how to copy and paste.

Emma

It depends on your software package but first you you need to select the image (I think in PSE it's CTRL+A) ... you shd see your image surrounded by a line of marching ants.

Then copy (CTRL+C).

Go to where you want to paste the photo and CTRL+V to paste. Use the "hand" icon to move into position.

Hope this helps!

Please please please ... someone tell me that they haven't packed or sorted photos yet ??!!!
I keep thinking I have a whole week to go so what's the rush ... which translated means I'll be up until 2am the day before scrabbling around for elusive photos and fretting about how to pack sharp knives !
I've been sorting photos all week according to Stacy Julian's Photo Freedom method which means ( shriek) taking them all out of chronological order and categorizing them into themes ! In theory that means it should take a mere few minutes to delve into my category drawers and find the perfect shot HA HA HA !!
Deliberating whether to treat myslef to a new suitcase . Saw one in Primark that was pink and made of extra lightweight metalic looking stuff which I though might protect everything inside. It looked teensy though . What size is everyone taking ? I see lots of people talking about those wheeled bag things but I though the contents might get crushed inside ... oh and I'm flying from terminal 5 so assuming my bag doesn't get lost in transit at worst in might just get slung in the hold under a ton of other stuff !

MrsH

Don't panic Claire (and I'm flying via T5 on Friday too - BA 7.45am so may see you bright and early!!)

I've uploaded some photos to Snapfish for my DD album track but that's it. I did try PhotoBox first but after spending an hour choosing photos to upload, PB decided it didn't like my photos and refused to accept the upload - grrr).

Will be sorting some more photos out tonight and tomorrow as I want to send these off printing on Sunday evening so I will hopefully get these back on Tuesday, Wed at the latest.

I'm taking a suitcase (Samsonite hard case, and a RU box plus bubblewrap) but will be sending a box of stash home via courier as I do not want to run the risk of this going astray. SAG said they would be offering this service for Euro 15.

For my outbound flight, I'm packing my clothes into my carry-on suitcase but will have to pack tools etc in my suitcase - no choice but to run the risk.

Oh, and BA are moving a quarter of it's long haul flights into T5 from Thursday so guess there is a greater risk that bags will go astray!!

Make sure you've address labels on the inside of your case too (visible when someone opens the case) just in case the worst happens and the tags on the outside of your suitcase go stray.

I also bought a long pencil case from Staples which I have used to hold all my "smaller" bits like scalpel, paper piercer (which has the pointed end jabbed in to an eraser),
pens etc. It also fits my 30cm ruler.
The tool bag is big enough to fit in my fiskars 12" paper trimmer at the bottom plus my A4 cutting mat down the side.

ARggh, I'll join you with the panicing Claire and not being able to rest until we get there. I've started to pack but still need to finialise photos. Worked out that the old APS are 4x8 so I've managed to find a couple of those to use and have scanned them just in case I ruin the originals (thanks for the instructions though, I'm going to have a go for future ref anyway).

I invested in a lightweight trimmer as well - green Critter (?) one as my MM is far too heavy to take. My suitcase is quite large as the one I took last year was way too small. I'm not taking any hand luggage other than a handbag as I was thinking of using the Diva free tote for the hand luggage on the way back.

Am I right in thinking BA's luggage allowance is still as follows ...

one standard-sized bag - maximum size of the bag must not exceed 56x45x25cm*(22x17.5x9.85in) (including wheels, pockets and handles)
• In addition, one laptop sized bag, handbag or briefcase
A 23kg(51lbs) maximum bag weight applies and you must be able to lift the bag into the overhead lockers in the aircraft cabin unaided.

But it's not clear whether the total weight allowance is 23kg or just the suitcase going in the hold or both !

Oh No - just spotted that we need a 1.5" circle punch for Pieces of Me Class - do you think I'll definitely need one or they likely to provide a couple for disorganised people like me ?? Just posted on Shop til You Drop to see if any sponsors can post to me pronto ! Or shoud I live dangerously and hope they have them for sale there ??

I bought one last week off an auction site and it arrived the next day (PM me if you want to know the details). From what I remember about the sneaky peek, the album had circular tabs on the edge so my guess is that it's to decorate these. I'm sure there'll be a few circular punches floating about though.

Oh, the T5 baggage drop closes 45 mins before the flight departure time (DH was flying out of T5 this morning and spotted it on his boarding card). This wasn't mentioned on my e-ticket receipt so just wanted to forewarn anyone in advance.

Oh Pants...

If it starts in less than 4 days... I have to get a move on!

I am flying in on Thursday am (with my scrummy baby.... he is available for cuddles as I have had requests!)

I am also in London all day on Wednesday with Teresa and Ty Collins - showing them the sights... we are doing a three hour whistle stop tour of London... and then I am taking them to Chepstow where they will be teaching!

So... that leaves today and tomorrow to get ready!!! I had better get a move on, things to pack and games to finish!!!!! Who's going to play with me this time?

Mi x

ME & MUSH will come and play again - you know we are up for fun:D I totally agree, I will look forward to giving your georgous boy another cuddle - no not your DH:nono:, your DS  I didn't want to part with him in February and I am sure he would have happily have come home with me.

The Fri evening meal sounds like a Rijstafel (literally rice table) which is a choice of lots of lovely dishes to try, a bit like one of those all you can eat buffets some Chinese restaurants do over here sometimes.

DH, DD and I went for one in Egmond last year and it was fabulous, although ours wasn't a buffet - just sectioned trays with all the different dishes in. You should be all right Dawn as there is usually lots of fried rice and noodles as well as vagetable dishes.

Ours wasn't as expensive as this one though - I think it was around 50 euro for the 3 of us including drinks.......

Yes - she was flying to Geneva last weekend from T5 - got to the airport more than 2 hours in advance of her flight . They told her they only had another flight the following day !! In the end she managed to get on a flight later that day but I'd have been doing my pieces thinking about the classes I'd be missing at SAG if they did that to me ! I've booked my flight using airmiles which means I only need to be there 1 hour ahead of departure apparently but I'm actually going to allow 3 hours - mad isn't it ??? I'm another one hoping that the Friday evening buffet food will be suitable for veggies... a friend of mine has been dragged to quite a few Indonesian restaurants by her husband and she recalls that there was lots of meat, particularly lamb! Aside from checking in and printing my boarding pass this morning, I've done close to nowt! I'll need to pack tonight. I haven't looked out my tools, but I know where everything is. I had to order cats eye Creamy Brown chalk pads by mail order a couple of days ago (which came yesterday, thankfully) as I need them for a couple of classes. I thought I had that shade, but couldn't find the pads anywhere. (Note to self: too much stuff means you can't find anything quickly). I've ordered paper trimmer blades and I thought they would be delivered today... no sign of them. I may need to do some emergency shopping when I get there!

I haven't had time to make a badge. Do I need one???

I had photos printed on Tuesday for the On the Road Again class and I've cropped them over the last couple of nights (lots of tiny photos - but I'm not sure whether they are supposed to be vertical or horizontal, so no doubt they'll be no use!). Aside from that, all I've done is crop four matching photos to 3.5" square for the make and take... only to read elsewhere that the size has changed! I don't have time to re-print, so I'll be using what I've got regardless! I didn't have time to print "passport sized photos" for the other make and take - not too bothered.

I need to buy Doritos as emergency suitcase rations should it turn out to be a meat-fest on Friday night! I'll pick up a sandwich at the airport too.

I'm not too bothered about anything, really - so long as I make it to the hotel, I'll enjoy it regardless.

Just found this info online so it looks as if there is an alternative to the Indonesian buffet

Restaurant
The hotel has a Patio Restaurant with a retractable glass roof. Close to the lobby the restaurant serves drinks and lights snacks and a proper dinner in the evening, which is usually Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant has garden style furniture. There is also an American cafe style bar in the lower ground floor with various bar games which also serves food and numerous rooms that can be used for buffet-style meals and private dining rooms.

The food alternatives sound fine... <<phew>> I'll be the one with no badge eating on my own, then!!! :P I'll have a look at the buffet, mind you... if there's something there for me to eat I might have a bash.

The Zision is the pink and green one, I think? If so, I forgot I have an old one of those too and used to use it a lot. I was thinking of taking my Fiskars one, but glad you mentioned the Zision... I think I (equally!) have no blades for that one, but it's much lighter than the Fiskars one i.e. more room for stash on the way back! Great idea! I'll raid my craft room tonight to see whether I can find any spare blades for the Zision... although thanks for the kind offer! I may need to take you up on it and owe you a blade if things get desperate and there are none in the mall!

I almost can't believe that I'll get to craft for most of the weekend... I'm lucky to manage a few hours without interruption!

Good luck!

I gave up and got 180 photos printed in 1 hr at lunchtime on Tuesday, as I ran out of time to upload them to Jessops or Photobox! I excel in running out of time (hence no badge!). I printed 6x4 photos that I knew I'd only want a portion of for the tiny On the Road Again photos (3x2), for example... it saved me a bit of time. I'm past caring about not having the right photos now. I didn't manage any "passport sized" ones for the M&Ts either - I wasn't quite sure what size they should be and I didn't want to ruin my newly printed photos without good reason. If possible, I might be able to crop part of a larger photo at the time, failing which I'm intent on finding a way of doing the project without photos! I'll use a bit of creative licence...

I loved Lida de Wite's travel album - we didn't so as much in the class as I'd have liked (3 hours wasn't long enough) but I will enjoy making the book and finishing the suitcase on my own.

Karen Burniston's Arch-i-tecture class was - as all her classes - brilliantly taught and a wonderful clever project.

I enjoyed CD's album class although I only did two pages and left early because there wasn't enough space to spread out and work comfortably. I'm looking forward to getting on with this project - and hopefully we won't have to wait to long for the hand-out to be made available.

The two Scenic Route classes were great - Lyale Koncur is an engaging, enthusiastic teacher - and if you like the product then these classes were perfect.

And I loved Dyan Reavley's class - she is fabby and although the contents of the kit were absolute rubbish - the front cover of the album was great fun to make.

Another vote for the best class being Lida's Travel album and the wee suitcase (that woman is so creative its unbelievable), and as for Karen B - well she was fantastic as usual!

I liked the Scenic Route classes too, but I also like Jen Starr's Faded Jeans canvas - she's another creative lady.

I'm sitting here enjoying my second pot of real English tea this morning - you don't realise just what a treat that is until you don't get it for a couple of days.........

Hi Claire (and everyone else),

Nice to meet you!! Just a shame it wasn't until the departure lounge at Schipol on the way back!! Glad you got back safely ... we made it home at 10.30 in the end - not bad at all!

Favourite classes - all of them!!

Lida's on the road again - managed to get the album bound in the crop room on the Sat night and am going to enjoy finishing this one off.

Lance's classes. Loved the pop star paper before SAG but struggled for inspiration on how to use them effectively. The Lucky Treasure Box was HUGE but has arrived home safely!! It's going to look stunning once it's made up.

Melodees two classes were great and packed full of ideas that I know I can incorporate in projects I want to do.

Bling and things. Loved the mess in this class and loved the foil effect! So easy to do.

DD's album track. Simple in format and structure but some great ideas to achieve a year album. I would never do this off my own back so thanks Donna!

Scenic Route album was great (this was the one I was unsure of beforehand as it's one of the few SR paper ranges I wasn't particularly keen on). Loved the album. Wanted to do the LO class but couldn't squeeze it into my schedule.

Doodling - papers weren't me, but still enjoyed the class and loved the idea of the window. Still can't doodle freehand though.

Would certainly do another retreat if these core of teachers were teaching there. Just need to save some pennies.

Oh and T5 really rocks. Got off the plane, walked to the baggage reclaim and all three of our bags were already going round the conveyor belt!!

I'll second that !

I was WOWED by CD's album track . It's wonderful to go into a series of classes like that and come out feeling that you've absorbed SO much and that it makes you look at scrapbooking in a whole new light . It really stretched my imagination and she and her husband are such sweeties too . Pure joy.

Another Vote for Lidas Travel Album, think this was my favourite class.
The chipboard suitcase was stunning, a real surprise since we thought it was a mini album only. The Album wow, this should have been 4 hour class but with missing instructions & chipboard sides not ready really slowed the class down.
Definitely not the teachers fault or her lovely assistant Hetty, I did feel for them.
The admin at Scrapa need to get their act together getting instructions the day after the class is NOT on!!!

Karen Burnistons classes (architecture & wallt toy)fabulous as always, really impressive teacher how she can keep a class of 50+ all at the same pace, gets up on her chair & stands so that the back of the class can see & has a nice loud voice to carry to the back of the room.
All instructions fully detailed with templates to use in class & templates to use when you get home.Class not to be missed if anyone from stratford are reading.

Melodees classes lovely too, loved the mini book family favourites.
Really needed a smaller class of this & the class being chopped to 1 hour was a really stupid idea of Heidis. This should have been left to a 2 part class!!
Did not get half completed sharing a stamp tool kit with a huge table was impossible.

Lance(Mr Pickles class) Lucky Treasure box wow stunning, if you do not have this booked in Stratford then go & change your classes you will be miffed if you miss out on this.
A stunning 8x8 wooden interactive cube box using the Lucky range of papers.

Theresa Collins bound to impress class nice, but not much teaching going on, more sitting on desks posing for photos. Full photo instructions provided.

Making Memories Noteworthy class lovely,a nice easy class at 8.30am with full colour instructions to help finish at home,I finished in class.

Technique Crazy nice class not sure I learnt anything though, probably best to book a Dyan Reavely class instead.

Plenty make & takes on at various times so could not complain there.
Felt sorry for Nat o Shea & Mandy Anderson a huge make & take class on Friday for them. They coped extremely well with people coming in at various stages. Both lovely bubbly ladies, even though there was probably a lot going on in the background re bad admin orginisation.

Must have been lucky the classes I picked were good always go for Lida,
Melodee,Lance, & Karen Burniston.

Going to reply to the feedback thread now.

Good question – what were my fave clases? I really like layout classes and have ‘issues’ with home décor and stuff like that so my favourite ones were both Scenic Route and Making Memories. I have actually completed both projects (before I left Holland!) so very pleased with those and have plenty of stuff left over to make some more lovely layouts.

I always like the Bazzill classes because although they are simple, they remind me of the great ways you can use cardstock and a bit of pattern to create pages and that is very much my style. I also finished both of those (photos and everything) so very pleased.

Doodling for Dummies was also a lot of fun and has given me the confidence to just go for it and doodle – and I also ended up with a nice (and unusual) double layout which I also finished.

I was a bit scared of the Color my world class with Lance Anderson, mainly because I just don’t like Rusty Pickle and really don’t like mess but the class was surprisingly nice and I love the completed album. I just need to add some photos, a few buttons and things and that one is also done. Poor Lance was a bit late in our class, having landed only a few hours before, but he was a great instructor and I can see why his class was so popular.

Karen’s Architecture class was one I dreaded as soon as I saw the exacting requirements and stuff. In fact, I will blame myself and say that I don’t know why I booked her class because although she is an excellent teacher, the last workshop I did with her I enjoyed the techniques but actually never did them again AND hated the layout. So I dreaded it so much that I simply took the kit and left. I noticed there were people waiting to get in class that didn’t have a seat and it was already Sunday and things were going so wrong that I just got all stressed and left before the class even started. I just thought it wasn’t fair to sit there while someone else who really wanted to be there could take my seat. No reflection on Karen on her class, more on my state of mind at the moment and my scrapping style.

Heartfelt memories with Vicky was also really good because I really liked Vicky. I’ve also nearly completed that project so again it’s good for me (have you noticed that I prefer classes where I can complete or nearly complete the project?)

I’ve already gone on the other forum and noted what I didn’t like but a quick recap is this: I think standards are slipping and things aren’t going as well as they used to. I also think that feedback from previous years hasn’t been acted upon completely and that information was not disseminated as effectively as it should have – and participants found out about things through rumor, hearsay and having to ask someone. It shouldn’t be this way and I hope that SAG really do take feedback and do something about it rather than feeling it as a personal attack and doing nothing. Otherwise the huge pool of satisfied customers that was built in the past three years will slowly shink and it will cease to be a viable business.

I think the space issue was luck of the draw as to which session you went to. I had CD's album track on the Sunday and there was loads of room - I think Claire and I shared a table for 6 between us. I loved her class. Totally not my normal style or anything that I would try on my own but it has persuaded me to experiment more and I will use some of tips again.

My fave class was probably Melodee's Pieces of Me. I've not done any of her classes before and I really enjoyed the project. It was frantic but there were lots of stamps to go round. I also loved Karen's class. She is the genius of all things interactive and her projects are ones that always get a wow when I show them to anyone.

I thought Vicky was great fun as well. Although she had no handouts she made up for it by passing on lots of tips - which I really should have written down as I won't remember any of them. It would be great if she could be given free reign next time (if she's asked back) as I think her personal style is great.

I agree re. last year's feedback not been acted on. OK, lots of things went wrong but we would have gone away with a better impression if it looked like someone was actually doing something or knew what was going on. It just seemed like there was no one really in charge or knew what was going on -which I'm sure there was. Also, although Heidi has complained about some teachers not handing in their notes in time (which is a fair point), I've yet to see any kind of apology from her. The apologies have all been from Eveline and other people.

I agree , good communication doesn't cost a penny !
All I've heard from SAG so far is how everything is everyone else's fault !
The final straw for me was the panic for the bus at the end. I left feeling so stressed . At least Michelle stepped on the bus to say sorry , it hadn't been handled well. A little more of that would have been welcome. We scrappers are a pretty forgiving lot . It wasn't so much that errors were made , it was more that there were so many of them which could have been avoided with better planning. If I ran my business like that, it wouldn't last !
