Those Magnolias sure are naughty. They are just so gorgeous!!! I was very good last night though, I was having a nosey on Sir Stamp a lot and I was so tempted to get some more but, I resisted as I have only just got the spring club set and I have to be very careful for the next few weeks or the bank manager will be after me!!!

Caz, how did you do the 'masking technique' with the clouds and flowers on your card?
I stamped the girl onto my white card, and then stamped her again and cut her out. I then used repo herma to stick her over the original stamped image and stamped the clouds over the top.

Right another stupid question...
OK, so I'm new to this stamping lark...
I have got my new spring collection stamps and my Ez Mount, do I cut the stamps up and then mount them or mount them then cut round them???
floydypops
30-04-2008, 09:55 PM
Caz , that's so funny !! Even UKS thought that was a lot of Tilda's :P
Hollybank I think you can do it either way , I roughly trim mine first and then put them on the EZ mount, apparently it helps to put talcum powder on the sticky bits that are in between the stamps as it wilstick to your scissors less.
I have used a couple of the spring stamps here (http://floydypops.blogspot.com/2008/04/tilda-friends-atc-challenge.html) for the Tilda & Friends ATC challenge.

I think the tilda holding the lilacs is the best tilda they have done so far. She is so cute and the dress up dolly is a really cute idea but not everyone loves everything thats why there are so many stmaps on the market.

I am sure there will be Denise...not sure when though.
I am in shock, I ordered the Shabby Chic stamps direct from Magnolia last month and they arrived missing two stamps, so I phoned them and spoke to one of the ladies...who promised to send the missing items. I have heard so many bad things about them never answering emails or phones that I didn't think they would ever be sent....WELL...you can imagine my surprise this morning when the two missing stamps dropped through the letter box....Yayyyyy.

can you help re the Magnolia site please:) i want to order some single stamps but in the price section it has the stamps (in GBP) as £65.00 or £69.00 . So atm my basket reads about £134.00 just for 2 stamps!!!
I am sure that the dot is in the wrong place of course & should only be £13.40 but i need to know if when i finally checkout whether it will be the corrected amount??
My hubby is paying & won't let me have his card until i know if it will be OK & we only get charged the smaller amount:unsure:.

Amanda...I always leave in it dollars...it will always how the SKr amount as well...I am sure the amounts you mention are SKr...there are approx 12 SKR to the £....so SKr 65 = £5.45..

I don't use Ez Mount on my stamps and no foam mats underneath as I find I get a clearer image with just the stamp on the acrylic block, card and a table:wub:

I just use versafine and take the ink to the stamp not the other way around. I use EzMount on my desk surface and press quite firmly.

are you "rocking" the stamp? do you pull up when you've stamped rather than sideways IYKWIM?
also, have you trimmed any extra rubber? I find i have to trim as close as i can get to the image.
I used to get a lot of "over stamp" but less now altho certain stamps are still a little funny.

I don't use versafine for that very reason. I use Stazon. For me personally I like the fine line it gives. On larger stamps I use a pad to stamp on but in general use the stamp prit stuck on acrylic. Hold the stamp in one hand and the pad in the other and gently tap the pad on the stamp, this way you can feel how much pressure you are applying.
New ink pads are a nigtmare as they are loaded with ink. You need to apply no pressure at all really.

Thanks for the advice evryone, No, I don't 'rock' I take the ink to the stamp, put the stamp on the paper, press down and then lift it off. Also I have cut really close to the image too. Maybe my surface I am stmping on is not strong enough, I use a keyboard draw on my desk, maybe a harder surface is in order?

Lovely card Caz. Just wondering, now I have my Prismas, what colour do you use for the skin and cheeck colour?
I use PC927 Light Peach for the face and add a little PC928 Blush Pink to the hairline and chin...and a little to the cheek with PC924 Crimson Red...with the red, only a a little circle very lightly and blend...and then add more if needed depending on how rosey you want the cheeks.

Have made a card HERE (http://aloadofoldblogocks.blogspot.com/2008/05/shabby-chic-magnolia-card.html). I am trying to make more background/scenes with my Magnolia's...think I need more practice to be as good as Kim and some of you other talented ladies.

I haven't mounted my Spring stamps yet. Haven't had time to do it but hopefuully will this week as the ez mount makes the stamps so much easier to use than without . jmo though

I'm opposite to you Maddiejane... I prefer to use my stamps without EzMount and also find I can store more in the CD Cases I'm using storage!
I am now the proud owner of 3 Magnolia's:wub: Thanks to MaggieMae, don't worry they will be treated with the very best of care:)
Does anyone know the best place for buying the Magnolia's please as there are a few of the accessories I wouldn't mind buying like the wall which will be great for boys cards:wub:
Nearly forgot to say... fantastic cards everyone, so much inspiration:wub:

I'm the opposite. I find them easier to use without the ez mount. I can 'feel' what the stamp is doing. I just stick them to the block with pritt stick. I've unmounted the ones i got from the auction site as they're easier to store, too. they don't take up so much space.

I much prefer mine on EZ mount, I have mounted all my spring stamp club ones, I just feel I get a better image than when I use them unmounted, funny how we are all different :D

Another vote for using EZ Mount - they definitely stamp better with it!

a definate vote for no ezi mount why waste the money it doesn't do anything. If it is an extra large stamp then just use a stamping pad under the paper. Perfect stamp every time.
Sir stamp alot and silly monkey are sponsors on the site that sell magnolias and offer a brilliant service have bought from both before.

Unmounted are about £5.00 each I think Erika, Mounted is about £6... Plus postage, which isn't a lot.

Wonderful cards, Sarah.
I'm getting to grips with my new Prismas, too. I've got a tin of 132 but have only sharpened about a dozen of them so far! Is it possible to get a good point on them? As soon as I sharpen them just a little bit more than bluntish, they break.

I think a make-up sharpener was mentioned as a good one for Prisma's:wub:
