Last year I took one of the big Ikea blue bags - which I filled with kits and sent back with a driving friend. I also used up the luggage allowance for DH and me with kits and a few bits I bought - and I travelled lightly, well DH did, he was not impressed to find I had only packed him a pants, socks and a toothbrush
The first time I went took a medium sized lightweight suitcase out, plus hand luggage and then on the way back filled my flight bag full off all the heavy stuff as they rarely weigh that as long as it doesn't look like it is bulging at the seems.
I didn't bother with lots of clothes, what I was travelling in, a pair of jeans, 2 t-shirts, underwear, travel toiletries which I left, and that was about it, not even a spare pair of shoes!
This year, apart from driving, I am taking 2 12x12 RUB and several of the 12x12 polythene bags.
I do take around 16 classes and sometimes buy the kit for other classes, so may have a bit more to bring back that usual!

That reminds me I must buy/find in my pile of stash enough 12x12 ziplock bags for each class, and any make and takes I manage to fit in.
I've managed within the weight limit both years, but last year my hand luggage was bulging (especially as I had a canvas to get back) and I've taken 12-13 classes.
Just make sure your bag is pretty empty going - and that it's a light one too start off with.

Just how much stuff do you get in each kit then??? those ikea bags are HUGE!!! and i would be in dreamworld if you got enough stash in the kits to fill one!!
do you get cardstock, pps and full packs of embellies???
Im booked for the Stratford one but have already been blown away by what the diva goodbag actually is ie the runway bag. What goodies do you get inside the bag too??

Thanks for the info so far ladies:) If SAG offer the shipping option, then I can't use it because DH has assured me it would get stopped by customs here. So, just wanted an idea if I can realistically get it all back home without paying excess baggage. I plan on bringing the bare minimum of clothing, toiletries, tools.

England is part of the EU which means goods are free to travel across borders. They do a passport check, but that is something different that goods traveling across the borders.
As in the past, we offer a shipping service for 15 euro per box at the event itself.
Lots of options!

Can recommend shipping all your stuff back in a box saves a lot of hassle at the airport, and the box arrives quite quickly, (just gives you time to recover from SAG Lag - don't get time for much sleep as too busy having fun, then arrive home exhausted.

Hi Lynn,
I would suggest that you fill the packing box with your clothes and toiletries etc instead and post them back to you - there shouldn't be customs on your own clothes! You can then fill your bags with stash and kits :)

hmmmmmm we will be there next week. We are going to my sister's in Arendal and she has a baby in her stomach which is meant to be born, but we'll just see what that baby wants to do!
And you're right, customs in Norway, not part of the EU. I've gone with the Ferry a couple times, and if you're in a car, that don't seem to bother you.

Which ferry do you take? Do you drive through Germany/Denmark first?
I live 50 minutes from Arendal...I was there yesterday doing some shopping.
Best wishes to your sister.....DS was born at the hospital in Arendal.

yes we go through Denmark, Hirsthals to Kristiansand.
My sister lives almost right in town, on the Lake. Lovely setting. I imagine I will be cleaning, cooking and chasing after Maile (2yrs old) but I will take my girls, so they will be a big help.
Just hope baby comes sooner rather than later!

My son was born reluctantly, 11 days late by emergency CS, after 36 hours of various induction drugs, which didn't work at all! I guess your new niece or nephew will arrive when it is ready but hope it takes into account that its auntie and cousins are around.

Well it's not just that, but I have to get back to make sure everything is sorted for Scrap-a-Ganza!
Everyone start talking to the baby - - can't spend too much time up there elst Scrap-a-Ganza may go slightly awry!

Deffo bring a HUGE empty holdall with you.
I have an enormous bright pink canvas one with wheels which flies out with a toolkit, 2 pairs of knickers, 2 T shirts, nightie hairbrush and small washbag in it and goes home bulging at the seams and weighing a tom. It weighs next to nothing empty, so i can fill it up with all the goodies, althouh I may blow 15 euro on shipping some stuff back this time to be on the safe side.....

We can't have that, can we!:D This baby has to arrive on time, so that it is old enough to enjoy 17th May celebrations! So anytime from now is good? That way Auntie Heidi can make sure hundreds of scrappers are happy in June:lol:
Centre of Arendal is lovely. Sounds nice where your sister lives, close to shops....I'd love to be that close to civilisation! I get to look at trees and horses!

I've got a huge holdall, so should be able to fit everything in and hope that total weight doesn't exceed 30kg! I plan on travelling light on the way over. Luckily, my hair is definately "wash & go", so wont bother with a hairbrush:lol: That will save a few grammes!
every gram is important eh?
