I've spent all evening searching for a set of photos that I can't find. i'm getting so frustrated! They are in a little album so can't get lost down the back of somewhere very easily.

I had a sneaky feeling we would roll as soon as I tried to post!!

Hi Joan, No I havent got anything ready yet! May not worry too much about photos tho - cos I usually end up wasting hours looking for the right one & never finding it - will save loads of time if I dont worry about having pics for the classes & just take a few that I want to do something with in the free time ;)

I'd like to ask a HUUUUGE favour of everyone, and pick your brains if I may?

I'm trying to work out the balance of drawers and cupboards I'm likely to find I need (looking at 5 drawers to a unit, which means they're not incredibly deep - not sure whether to get 40cm and gain cupboard space, or 60cm and drop cupboard space), and also just how much storage space I'm likely to realistically need -- I'm already more than aware I will have to start selling off/passing on stuff I've had for ages and have now realised I'm unlikely to ever use as I pack it all into the room after I (hopefully) fit it out.

I'm trying to mentally work my way through my stash and tools to figure out what 'goes where', but I'm sure I've missed off HEAPS of stuff I've got buried!!!

So could you lovely ladies please cast your eyes over the following list and let me know what you think I've missed off? Any (and all) input would be very gratefully received, before I discover I've made a stupid - and expensive to rectify - mistake in my judgement

In drawers
Ink pads (most used - Colorbox, clear embossing & black permanent)
Heat gun
Prismacolors (and paper stumps), water colour pencils (and water brushes)
H2Os
EK Shape Cutters
Coluzzle tools and templates
Tearing Rulers
CR spares (sticky sheets and blades)/Big Shot spares (cutting plates)
Adhesives
Doodling templates
Dymo machine and tapes

Chipboard shapes (don't have many, as I generally cut my own with my Sizzix dies)

Alphabets (stickers, rubons and stencils) ? see last category
Printer paper (possibly in top cupboard)
Photo paper (possibly in top cupboard)
Acrylic paints (could in boxes in top cupboard)
Embossing powders (could stay in current box in top cupboard)
A4 papers and cardstock (could go in boxes in top cupboards)

In bottom cupboards
Sizzix dies
QK dies
Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders
Sizzix and Fiskars texture plates
Albums - full, in progress and empty (smaller than 12x12 could go in top cupboard)
Sewing machine
Stamps (possibly with some in their current drawer units alongside paper storage?)
Craft Mates bags (currently 4 of) with brads/eyelets (possibly in 'leg area' under worksurface?)

On worksurface
Laptop
Printer (bulky all-in-1)
Craft Robo
TV
(VCR - may ditch if run out of space, but would prefer to keep for now)
Freeview
DVD player
Radio/CD
Big Shot
See-D stamps (in metal CD towers)
MM Trimmer
X-Cut A4 guillotine
X-Cut 12" guillotine

Pots on worktop
Journalling pens

Standard rulers
Paint brushes

On shelf between units (for 'pretty' look)
Prima flowers in bottles
Blossom kits in purses (may hang these on boards at bottom of list?)
Button jars
Stickles
Glitter

In top cupboards
Magazines
Books
Ink pads (in boxes - those not in drawers)
Peel Offs (in binders/peel-off boxes) - yep, I use them!
Decoupage sheets (in binders)
Brass stencils (in binders and/or boxes)
Lace templates (in binder or box)
Other embellishments (in boxes, sorted by colour as they are now - but with ribbons, fibres and buttons now elsewhere)
Card blanks, envelopes and inserts

In specialist units (against 3rd wall)
12x12 papers
12x12 cardstock
12x12 acetate overlays

I also have some B&Q boards (with hooks) to go up on 3rd wall
Anything hangable, including....
Ribbons (on storage from Rebecca)
Fibres
Alphabets (stickers, rubons and stencils) ? if not in drawers, dependant on packaging
Blossom kits (if not on shelf between units)

I can't really think of anything you've missed out, Cheryl - wet glues, perhaps? (ie Glossy Accents etc) ....

cw18
22-04-2008, 11:35 PM
I was including them in with adhesives -- foam pads, foam tape, masking tape, PVA, GA, DG, DSST, Herma, Glue Dots....... any more? (will probably have normal sellotape and parcel tape in their too, for packing up goodies for other people ;) )

forgotten my light box

Cheryl - my mind is reeling! But I honestly can't think of anything you might have missed. I'll have another think while scanning my room tomorrow and shout if anything jumps out at me.....

I've been helping DH with a job application all evening (more moral support and spell checking than anything else!) so am toddling off to bed now - would be great if he got it as he's been with his current company since Jan 99 and it's really time he moved on!

It's my weekly day off tomorrow, so I can have lots of fun playing, and finishing my CC planner and my 'colour book'!

I last (voluntarily) changed companies in September 1998, and didn't envisage changing again.

But having said that I was with my previous company from October 1984, and had gone to work there as it was a company most people spent their entire working life with as much as for any other reason...... Only left after the department was TUPEd to a company with a totally different structure and work structure. As I've just had that happen again I don't know where I'll be in 2 years :(

Everyone's currently going through Performance Reviews (I don't get one this time, as I won't been back at work for 3 months by 25th this month), and one chap I work with got marked down on a couple of areas I thought were most unfair -- especially as this company is totally new to us, and it appears those who've been at work haven't had expectations explained any better than I have.

Apparently we all have to come up with one good suggestion for improving the company's performance and balance sheets every 6 months -- and this should include ways of sending more of our work to the staff in India. So that effectively means in order to get a pay rise we have to farm our own work offshore to the point they lay us off for lack of on-shore work

They're smashing Kirsti

I'll be busy making baby cards on Thursday/Friday. Our neighbour is being induced on Thursday, and they're hoping she can deliver the twins without needing a section. When she was telling me last night she sounded very, very nervous about the idea of a section, and I think she deserves this part to go well for her as she's had pre-eclampsia in the early stages of pregancy and then gone on to develop gestational diabetes. I can't help but think she deserves for something to be straightforward for her

And I'm still nowhere near done with the baby albums :o May have to see if I can turn some of the CC classes into pages for them

Wow what a long list Cheryl! Only other thing I can think of is regular punches? But as you have so much die cutting stuff you may not have any of those

Morning, all!

I definitely find the punches I use the most are the basic shapes - circles, squares, stars, and flowers ..... but I had to have another look at your list, Cheryl - and said "yep, yep yep" to nearly all of it, with the exception of some of the card making stuff!

Best go - Pilates calls. See you later this evening!

Same here really, although I have put a load of washing on, and washed up from last night (workshop left no time), I am going to print out 'Men in Black' title for my LO next on my craft-robo.
I must admit it has it advantages having the workshop at home, last night one of the ladies wanted some blood dripping letters for the 'Tower of Terror' page she was doing and I just downloaded a free font and cut them out with the Craft Robo, they did look great set on black

Ouch! DD was 7lb at 2 weeks early. DS1 was 9lb at 5 days late. DS2 was 8lb 6 at a week late. Dread to think how much bigger that 'little one' could have been, and my heart goes out to her with a baby that size

If it's what he really wants (which I assume it is if he's applying for it), then I'll keep my fingers firmly crossed

It's with a massive global pharmaceutical company in their IT department, so it would mean a massive pay rise and 'big company experience' - he wasn't actively looking to work for that company, but his brother works for them in the US and let him know about the vacancy. His brother has also helped him write the application in the 'right' language so fingers crossed!

I spent ages last night (with DHs help) updating my CV for a job I was applying for. Sent it away today and have had an email saying the vacancy has been withdrawn - not a happy bunny.

Oh Jo! I remember the feeling only too well - hopefully, it'll be a case of 'a door closing and a window opening elsewhere'

My DS2 was 2 weeks early and weighed 9lbs!! Quite a shock after 2 skinny 7 pounders!!

My eyes are watering! DD was only 5lbs.........and delievered under the effects of full strength epidural as they had just finished prepping me for a section when she popped out!

It's absolutely chucking it down and freezing here today - to think that I came home in just shirt sleeves yesterday..... right off to play in the scrap room to cheer myself up!

Believe me -- I've been trying to work out how come even I have so much stuff if I've not missed anything else off that list  Think the main culprits here are my dies (the Sizzix ones do take quite a bit of space), and my 12x12 cardstock and patterned paper.

But I may change my mind as to what I have excessive amounts of if I ever manage to get everything into one room (or enough into one room I can get the rest neatly packed into boxes by type of stash!)

Cheryl, I need to completly redo my craft room, but the thought of moving everything out first to do so, put me off. It needs the sash windows refurbishing and the radiator moving as well as a purpose built work top that will take into account the awkward wall angels.

Have to admit that the thought of having to find somewhere for what's actually made it into my room is my biggest nightmare over the whole operation !! If I had the money to spare (and my back would cope with it) I think I'd be seriously considering renting a storage unit for a couple of months

Just popping in to sayhello.
Ive managed to clean my bathrooms, do the ironing and vacuum downstairs. Please be careful you dont knock of my halo :lol::lol:

Poor DH has just gone to sign on for the first time. He was dreading it

I'm signing on again at the mo - but what the hell - I have paid my National Insurance contributions. I was used to being sworn at as a member of staff in there but I was actually sworn at by another "customer" on Friday - because I wouldn't let him have my appointment as he needed to be seen earlier as he had somewhere to go. Wasn't as though I really wanted to be there either!!

Hi all,

Cheryl, the little box came today. The bits are sooooo cute. I haven't the faintest idea what I am going to do with them yet, but they looked so interesting, and different, I couldn't resist them. A very big thank-you for running the competition and supplying the prizes.

basing my answer of how the Craft Robo works, you probably can't unless you have the Design Master type software (or possibly the Sure Cuts A Lot if that will load in cartridge shapes). I would imagine you need it hooked up to a computer to delete those cutting lines

*** BABY UPDATE ***

Car was on the drive next door when I got home, but I decided to see if hubby had any news before risking knocking. Hubby saw him come home (was washing pots, and our kitchen is at front), so had been out to ask -- just as well I didn't knock as sounds not long back, and was planning an hours kip then back out to visit.

Don't have all the details yet, but hubby thinks he said 2lb 4 and 2lb 8 (which I think sounds light for twins at 37 weeks, so waiting confirmation) -- but they have ONE OF EACH

I'm sooooooo pleased for them, as they knew they were expecting one boy but were both secretly hoping the other would be a girl. Talking to them seperately, all the girls on his side in the last few generations are by marriage (only had baby boys), so she wanted a girl for his family. He wanted a girl so she has a girl to pamper and dress in pretty clothes.

Hubby's comment was "I suppose you'll be sorting a card out now. That'll get your creative juices flowing I guess" -- to which he got, "and I've already started on pressies, but now I know what they've got I'll have to get a move on finishing them" which left him looking very stunned

hi girlies
had a busy day today with mum and dad here (dad decorating for me and me having to take mum out wherever she wants to go!)
After school we were supposed to go to the senior school to get DS1 fitted out for his school uniform but as we got there we found DD in tears complaining that her hand/wrist hurt. It appears that a boy she has had previous issues with (him playing pranks etc on her) frog marched and pushed her into a set of lockers and as she had her hand outstretched she has fractured her scaphoid bone and is now in plaster after being at A&E for 3 hours.
What with this and our insurance company still dragging their feet with our bathroom my blood is near boiling point:angry::angry::angry:
I am going back to the school first thing in the morning to find out what they are going to do about it

Awwww! I bet you do! Brilliant news about their having one of each! I have some gorgeous 'petit newborn' babygros and vests from Mamas & Papas which I can send up if you're interested (they're all washed and ironed).

Andrea - so sorry to hear about your DD. What a horrible little boy - deserves a good smack on the bum. Hopefully the school will discipline him

I skived off a bit at work today and used the office binding machine to make up an album for Shimelle's class. Will hopefully be able to decorate a few pages before the upload deadline tomorrow night........

Just seen the new "Daddy" as he and the grandparents got home from visiting. He was glad I caught them, as "Mummy" has been pestering to know if he's told the neighbours -- and me especially  But he thought 9pm was too late to knock on the door :o

They were delivered by emergency section -- I think this morning. The little girl was born at 7:51 and weighed 2.8kg (just under 6lb 3oz) and the boy at 7:52 weighing 2.4kg (about 5lb 5oz?). So hubby remembered the number parts of the weights, but took them to be pounds (as that's what he works in) rather than kg  "Daddy" is hoping they'll all be home Tuesday or Wednesday, as long as the twins start feeding better.

Saw some piccies of them on his camera, and they're sooooo cute :)

He seemed surprised that I picked up really quickly on the fact the girl has a much rounder face than the boy, but that was how we told a set of girl twins my parents once fostered apart

i haven't a thing packed, washing still in machine, not a photo ready yet either. i have managed to find my wedding photos and have just scanned them into computer, so will make a CD of them and print them out tomorrow at the shop. i thought they would do for the album as they are all b&W.

I'm not working in the morning until 12 so hope to do everything then. i've still got to download a map too.

Oh bless poor grandad Fae
Loving those Shimelle calendar books.....wish i had grabbed a kit now, but have always felt that Shimelles style was a bit too 'out of the box' for me. I mean it looks great when she does it but i have tried it before and just ends up looking like i just threw the stuff at the page!

I have been to DD school this morning and we have both written statements as to our side of events and i am now waiting for them to interview the rest of the group and look a cctv. The boy in question is removed from lessons this morning to until it is decided the outcome and to whether the school feel the police should be involved.
DH is all for getting him excluded. He is a special needs child with adhd who is constantly disruptive to classes but i feel guilty. Im all for having specials needs children in mainstream school as DS1 is special needs for his learning and development and was statemented for for 5 years but he is quiet and insular, not aggressive and distupted, like this boy is
I feel sad at being in this sort of position again where an injury is involved as we have not long finished a 3 year lawsuit for same daughter after she was at an indoor play area and the tyre swing she was on collapsed with her still on it and it landed on her ankle breaking it.
I think some people are just jinksed with these things!!! I dont know yet if im in the mood for ccing

Jenny and Jo love your books, still making mine so I had better hurry up.

Andrea, maybe it would be a good idea if the teacher got the children in (minus parents) to talk them them both together, dont remember your DD's age but you may find it was this boys inapropiate way of trying to get her attention. ;) Hope you can sort it out.

DS1 was being bullied at school by an older boy (and physically much larger) who the school said was "emotionally immature" and in such likes to play with the younger children. I think one day DS1 had had enough and as this child had been trying to lift him off his feet by his hair and at one point was trying to lift him by having his hands around his throat. DS1 hit back - 5 times - in the face - and of course he was the one that was in the wrong. Cue mother going into school!! The fact that this child has problems isn't my problem - its the parents and the school! But had to admit to the headteacher that as DS1 does karate 5 times a week then he knows how to punch - properly. We have also told him that he never starts fights but he can finish them. It seems to have worked in this case as DS1 is no longer being bullied - to my knowledge.

Hope you get a satisfactory ending to this.

Its an Aberdeen based company but the Ricky (who was a girl!!) who was interviewing him had to go to the states at short notice. Apart from the user account control, which is a Vista thing (and genuinely deliberately done by MS to annoy people) that would be where you go in XP too.

You can stop people bypassing the log on screen with XP but I can't remember how off the top of my head. I also can't recall if it's only in XP Pro or if it's in XP Home, too.

To properly properly secure it, you'd need to also turnoff fast user switching, and then remember to press ctrl+alt+del and choose "lock computer" every time you walk away from it - normally something you'd only set up in an office environment, but if the chap's worried about other people in the club using the computer...
