This silhouette cutting machine is driving me mad!!! The carrier sheet is just not sticky anymore and even though I can put small bits of sellotape on sides of paper it won't stay still on cardstock!
Off to have a look at sponsors ......
I am only trying to make cards for mum and MIL.
Lady Legolas

£18.99 for two and about £2.50 p&p. Is that good?
what about a can of spray mount and spray the carrier sheet???

I used to use herma to stick card on my carrier sheet for the robo. For the cricut I have some K & Co liquid adhesive which is working really well at giving extra life to the mats.

I don't think you do - if you select specials and then click on purchase for something it just takes you to a checkout. For an idea of postage it is normally about $20 for a kit plus bazzill add on and embellishement kit and I had an extra last month as well and it was still $20.

ok liz i'll try that...
is the kit worth it??
JerseyScraps
22-04-2008, 08:39 PM
I like them - different to gogo I'd say more basic in terms of embellishments but the kit is split in 4 sections with each giving you enough to do at least a dlo so you can easily get 8 lo's from it. They are normally good value so on offer should be even better.

Morning,
Julie dont they use 'quilters plastic' on the CR forum??
That liquid adhesive sounds good Liz will have to look for that.
Any chance of us doing a round up of addies again (if someone has the full set can they email me them please). I have one or two and one or two addy cards (the rest are in a box somewhere in the garage ) I dont have Kath's Bday date neither. Just trying (not always succeeding ) to be organised.
Cheers right hi ho (should i say I owe :P) its off to work I go.
Later :D
juliebee
22-04-2008, 09:52 PM
Fluv, yes that price is for 2. I may try spray mount but would have to buy it and I think it is quite dear as well!! Never heard of quilters plastic. i do know a quilter though so could ask her.
Oh BTW, been to WI at SW and lost 3.5 lbs!! She never used to count halfs but apparently it is due to go all hi-tech with swipe cards and ev, so she has had to start counting them now. Better now as I have just started though!
DOH DOH DOH
Just realisede that the shopping I had ordered to be delivered tonight between 7 and 9pm hasn't actually been ordered for today but for tomorrow.
Now I have no food for tonght no lunch for kids tomorrow and no food for when Robert gets home tomorrow.
Triple DOH

Ooops!!!! Do you want a sandwich sending down Michelle?!?! Quick trip to one stop called for!!!
Julie - well done - thats a fab loss!!! For your mat - have you tried rubbing it over with a babywipe?? Weird I know, but it works on the cricut mat and makes it last a bit longer - have done that 3 times, but have had to throw the mat away now and use a new one as it just wouldnt stick - didnt think of that repositionable spray though -I have a bottle on my shelf so will try that next time thank you Liz!!
HW was done so its out of the way........... and then time to play tomorrow! Got to go to doctors at 9.20 to have BP taken again as apparently too high last week... so if it hasnt come down she said might need to increase tablets, and also to have blood tests.......... so fasting -eek!!! no brekky - gulp!!!! In fact, not supposed to have anythign to eat now onwards .. ho hum....

Thanks for back up post in teacher strike Michelle.... I know I wouldnt want to be a teacher, but they do get time off per week for lesson planning etc now as well 10% of time I think it is.... and if they work after school to normal finish time like everyone else ams ure a lot of work could be done. Spence often works 50 hour weeks and doesnt get paid for it - they are not the only profession that has to work "unpaid overtime"............

evening,
Well have been at work for 1 year now!! Cant believe it - it feels like forever :lol:
Julie I looked at that scrap room the other month and they are rather scrummy
Sounds like you had a nice day Katie - good.
Well I am up for a new set of addy cards especially as I am one who has changed addy.
Maybe we could put 5 random facts on there that we dont know about each other to make it fun or something like that or a really bad piccy (just a normal one of me then:P:lol:) or a baby piccy something to make us smile.
Sound any good??
Hay girls I was wondering as I am always misplacing my addy cards if we could do large tags then I can keep them altogether on a book ring. what do you think??

23-04-2008, 12:50 PM
Gosh you chatty lot. Just realised I've not been on for a couple of days - no excuse either!LOL

Hello.........
Am back from meadowhall - have come back with 3 pairs of trousers, 2 tops, 6 creme eggs for a pound... and one of the pink stapleguns from poundland for 50p ... wonder if it will work?? LOL!!!! Also got some yummy food from M&S.... am off to pub again now for lunch - could get used to this not cooking lark!!!
Thank you for my card Kath - its lovely - have opened the CJ packet now !! LOL!!!
I think that addy tags sounds like a good idea Fluv - bookring sounds brilliant then can have them hanging on a hook and will know where they are....
well finally recovered enough for a proper post. Moonwalk is looming and you know me, lastminute.com. LOL.
Did a 7 miles walk this morning - bit disappointed with the time, was okay until about 3/4 mile from home then started flagging. It pi**ed of rain from start to finish, got back like a drowned rat. only slightly more attractive. **** I have to do this route twice by about the 10th May. thats without stopping. OH JOY!
did quite enjoy it though. going again on friday. Off to swimming with Toms school this afternoon, thankfully i dont have to get in. Elise will be disappointed as I wont be picking her up from school tonight.
off for a banana smoothie to replace something thats name escapes me, but i have cramp if that helps. LOL.
Well done on the walk Fluv
You can do it the weather is supposed to be better on Friday

Lol.
Actually, going back to the stupid driver who splashed us, I couldn't help but smile (to myself Fluv - not at you ) when the water washed over us, poor FLuv got the brunt as she was road side but it hit my face and i had puddle water running down my head and shoulders like something out of a cartoon.
I must admit that I do that when I'm driving (gives me aq giggle mean I know). Wouldn't do it to a lady with pushchair or elderly person though (everyone else is fair game especially those oiks at the local comprehensive that made Owens life at school last year a misery)

Just nipped online quickly to say Hi to everyone.
Sorry not been around...too much to do and no time at mo. Been trying to get studying and dissertation done. Not finished either yet. Got my external exam in less than a month which is THE biggie although it doesnt actually go towards my degree mark.
I got good news yesterday, the ICCA exam I did a couple of weeks ago (which does go to my degree) I got 85% for so I am projecting a first...although with the dissertation it is weighted heavily as it is a BSc and I never seem to get good marks for writing at uni!! So hoping I will get a 2.1 anyway and if the dissertation goes well...who knows!! (I dont really have the time to do an amazing job on it though)
Hope all iof you and yours are well.
Please send me a PM to keep me updated if anythign major is happeneign cos I wont get time to read back through.
Thinking about you all. WIll drop in when I get a chance

Everyone had a good day then? Apart from the soaking duo that is!
Got the barbie fired up tonight and did steak on it. Was having steak anyway but as it was fine evening got DH to do it on barbie. Was lovely, especially as I had a glass of red wine too! Then played daft games with kids outside. Bathtime now! For them - dirty beggars they are!LOL
kath, bbq steak sounds lush - could eat that now - actually i could eat a scabby donkey i am so hungry.....
waiting for dh to get in. all i have had all day is a packet of crisps and a smoothie. Hovered over the kids dinners but they eat it all greedy bl**ders. LOL

Help! My card making mojo has deserted me. I need to make one for mum and one for MIL for next week. Started them yesterday based on a card in the 'female cards' thread, but as my silhouette has given up for the moment I don't feel like finishing them Any ideas? Kath? katie? Anyone?
I may give in and get them from M&S then they will look at me as if I don't care enough to make one. :(
Plus the m&s ones are nice but v simple and are actually quite do-able!

Why don't you pinch Katie's idea of the big flower like the one one that web that she did?
Katiecoughdrop
23-04-2008, 08:31 PM
Alternatively, something like the one I showed you that I did for Mark wit the strips of paper around the outside and their initial in the middle?

need something flowery and 'mum' style. I did cut out some flower shapes yesterday but then couldn't do the swirls that it needs.

This (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=214211&page=4)was what I wanted, see post 54..
Julie, what kind of theme you looking for. Could you find a nice picture on internet, print onto photopaper then stickle it up and use it as a centerpiece/topper. deb did some really pretty ones they look very effective.
we used them for christmas cards, so were tinkerbelle, eeyore betty boop etc. which isnt appropriate for birthdays. birthday cakes, chocolates, wine
flowers,
Katiecoughdrop
23-04-2008, 08:37 PM
What about punched flowers around a circle with initial in middle like you did for rhianna?
Katiecoughdrop
23-04-2008, 08:39 PM
Oohh lovely. When's MIL's birthday? If you can get over I have swirls on my cricut I could cut for you
just seen the one you like could you use chipboard swirls and layer up fabric flowers.
juliebee
23-04-2008, 08:41 PM
Kath, might take you up on that offer. I think I need some different paper to what I used. It was a bit too strong coloured strpey.
whats happened to your Siilhouette Julie??
is it just the carrier sheet??
Katiecoughdrop
23-04-2008, 08:42 PM

Chatterboxes!! LOL!
My friend called over with my birthday pressie - a cala lily plant from M&S - gorgeous pink colour - wonder how long it will last - I tend to kill plants!! LOL! Also a book so might have a read of that in a mo...........
Spence not v happy as his flight is delayed 2.5 hours... so he is not leaving italy until 11.30 - which means he wont land in birmingham until about 12.30 so wont be home until about 2am........ triffic! Not much sleep for me then being woken then as well - if I sleep well before he comes in ... and then work tomorrow!!
Julie - have you not got any flower stamps you could stamp onto PP and cut out tomake the flowers? What about looking on a few blogs for ideas... there is scrapagogo - the clubhouse has a gallery with card ideas in it.... I also like this blog (http://stampingmoments.blogspot.com/)too... I know its stamping up products that she uses but there are some lovely cards on there for some ideas....

Katie, thanks for those links. I don't do much stamping as it seems to me you must need about 800 stamps to cover every kind of scenario! That blog looks nice though. Can you post the site that your stuff is on again pleaes, save me trawling back...
Off to work now for 3 hours then quick nip in for lunch at mum's
Had to laugh, she has just phoned me and asked what I would like re:SW plan and I said, 'think I'll have an omelette...'

Off to dentist at 11 - eek.... then might pay visit to craft central then have a rummage in my craft room later on and attempt some of the CC stuff over the weekend perhaps............... still got a huge mountain of ironing to be done and washer is gong round again and more waiting to add to the pile!! Jan, lovely pics - very tearful, i bet!
Got men here fitting new windows - glad its not raining!! When I get back from work I won't recognise my own house! Hope they do a good job. Mark will have to wait up for me as the front door is being done too so I won't have a key!!

Katie, I will check out your gallery again. Couldn't remember the website.
thanks for your kind words about my LO. I think it was for our challenge in Jan. I sent it in on the last minute for the circles theme. they have put a proviso in the email now that says it may not be in as promised because gallery is the first thing to get cut if they have to edit. I reckon it is so they can change their minds when they get the LO!!

Well done to Kieran at the ANZAC day service.
The Scouts are really laidback re uniform in NZ, that female leader in the photo wasn't even in full uniform.

Liz - sounds like you have had a fun morning then all that crafting......
Been to dentist, had filling.. which was ok - am sure she didnt need to put 3 injections in first though -thats the worst part... and dont think she put enough stuff in there either as it was starting to hurt, but she had almost finished so wasnt too bad....... Been to craft central and bought myself a new bag - is it tutto the make - trolley on wheels........ the in-laws gave us some money for CHristmas and have not spent it so decided I would get one of these while they were almost half price.... as the collapsible crate thing I have is rather wibbly wobbly and the wheels are not as good as they should be!! LOL!!
Have done washing - now got a mountain of ironing........ and still not done anything for CC... ooops! Maybe get something done later on or tomorrow.
Been unpicking badges off scout shirt that were cubs badges (doh!) and sewn back on in right places - yawn!

Just getting ready for St Georges parade.
Parade starts at 2pm and Owen has just presented me with his Scout uniform that needs washing. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
Or something to that effect. Raining here so wonder how many Beavers will actually turn up (they melt in the rain don't you know)
juliebee
27-04-2008, 12:20 PM
St Georges Day was caneclled in Wigan due to lack of policing. Last year was afiasco, with the head of the parade walking up a supposedly pedestrian area and 3 cars driving towards them. One solitary female support officer legging up to stop them. Shambles.
we have loads of police officers as actual leaders (3 in our group alone) so they always manage to arrange adequate support

Ashley isnt going on the parade this afternoon - the letter apparently came out the week he didnt go as wasnt feeling well - and only have sketchy information - 1.30 start back 4ish and its somewhere in Chesterfield so not prepared to let him go on that vague information - perhaps he will listen better next time - or at the least they could have given him a letter or written the information down.
Have fun scrapping Julie - did you try rubbing the sticky mat over with a baby wipe? Leave it to dry then it restores the sticky - works on the cricut mats.......
Good Luck to Amy for tomorrow - hope she does well.

Good to hear you have had fun with the CC Jan - you have made some lovely things.............. sleep well!

Usually we have had quite a bit of notice on parades - did last year and for the camps etc - but this year we havent had anything - nothing about any camps - and nothing about parades........... apparently it was the week they went back after Easter but they didnt think to tell him last week - and it was just mentioned on friday when he was there....... I do like a bit more notice than a day and more details................ perhaps you could come and run ours up here??

LOL at Debs forgetting about the CC!!! You will have to have a play with the classes later on....... Fluv has done some fab work!
Oh that nice a school eh? Obviously not the one where Paulines daughters go then!! LOL!! Just the skirt pattern looked familiar...........
Ashley has gone round my mum and dads - spence just took himround there as I have hosp in morning, so rather than being a rush and having to drop him off round there he may as well sleep there.
Have done very feebly this CC - have managed 2 LO's...... but have enjoyed doing them - and have printed off other classes and hope to have a play later in the week.
Where does all the food go to in this house??? We've run out again

Run out again?!! I thought you only had it delivered Thurs evening! Is that what happens when you have energetic lads in the house!? LOL
My fridge is full of healthy yogs and fruit at the moment. L could eat a box of cereal in one go though. And about 2 pints of milk. Must stop buying big deep bowls.
Glad to hear its not one of your schools, must be awful cos now they will have paps hovering waiting for her to arrive again. Don't you just feel like telling her to pull herself together and eat some chips?

Slow............. isn't it?
I got the grand total of one cc class done. I was just not prepared in advance with photos.
Can we count them as points for team as well?
Beat me then for the cc. Yes we can count them for our points.
AW mum must be doing her nut, get a grip girl (what does she look like that makeup and those tattoos)

Yes... you count the CC creations in the monthly points, so add to LO or books etc.............
AW looks such a state doesnt she - cant help wondering what she might have living in that hairdo!!!!!
How did parade go Michelle?

Bet it was a soggy parade. Think it has rained all over UK today. Managed to get out for a 40 minute walk after tea with my mum. K only got back about 5.30. Not a happy bunny. They are so disorganised that he spent half an hour looking for a spare bolt to use.
Yes soggy but 18 boys turned up and I managed to convince them that they didn't need their coats on (much to their mums dismay).
Had a hunt the dragon/CD competion after the parade and my boys won a trophy for collecting the most.
Just as well I washed Owens uniform as he ended up in the colour party escorting the flags
