I read that too but I assume there will be buses or I see the hotel hires bikes - might be quite nice to cycle down to the town.

The Haarlem hotel was on the outskirts but it was quite easy to catch a bus into the centre.

I'm up to 14, and trying to keep Saturday night free :D. I had some idea of walking into town in the evening, but may just walk around the grounds/surrounding area.

Do you think that they are likely to put any more classes on on Friday, btw?

I think they might -Michelle asked on another thread (either on here or on the scrap countdown board) if there would be interest in a friday class.

Sadly I had to get a lightly later flight this time so won't get to the hotel until 4-4:30pm so I wouldn't be able to sneak another one in...could do the make and takes then though if they were on ;) :D

I have lost class 8 in my schedule rejig. But after seeing its two scoops i am not fussed now anyway. I have two scoops coming out of my ears at the moment. I will probably regret it later but i have a huge gap from 1 to 7 to chill and do make and takes. It also means i dont have a jam packe day on sunday

Mind you i have to put 1 class back in and DH has said he will stump up for another, so 11 classes in total.

Here are my choices for the two extra classes, any stand out as a must have to do.

17, 18, 19, 21, (35 & 36) ,39

23-04-2008, 07:41 PM
I'm keeping my fingers crossed they are going to offer the mail-home service (apparently they have done in previous years).

I'm flying through T5 and that's the weekend they've announced as the earliest they will move all the long haul flights from T4 to T5. Hope they see sense and delay by another week or so :)

Can see it now. Get to play with all the gorgeous stash at SAG ... and never get to see it again once it's checked in at the airport.

Another reason is that DH won't see EVERYTHING that I've bought as he'll hopefully be at work when it arrives. ;)

At the hotel we were at in November there were scales in the ladies toilets.
€1 seemed cheap for peace of mind on your way to the airport.

If you go overboard on the shopping (or even just with class kits) then you can usually ship a box home for a very reasonable fee.

Well if they are not having the shipping service in June I'm in deep pooh :P

I thought my schedule was long since settled. I've had my original 11 classes from day one albeit slightly rearranged after the meltdown. I did add another 2 after seeing some more class details but hey 13 is managable right. However after some discussions with a friend last night I had a long hard look at everything this morning and managed to include a class I really wanted but thought I was going to miss out on and added another for good measure so now I have 15

Last time one of my boxes sent home was purchases and the other was solely class kits, methinks I may need a bigger box

DawnS

Thought of that - booked both the Thursday (to pack and finish my swaps ) and the Monday (to recover) off.

I booked on the Friday afternoon doodling class before I came to work, and I think I'm done now. 14 classes, which is the most I've done, but I've got Saturday night free and my first class on Sunday is 10.00, so I think it's manageable.

I've seen a similar thing from 'Design Go' (those travel bits you often see with luggage sections in department stores) but theirs is around the £7 mark. I've got a trip to the states planned later in the year so was planning to get one in time for SAG for bag weighing!

Can someone please tell me how long transfer from airport to hotel takes, and if check at hotel is quick? I'm booked on the 1.30pm transfer on Friday and I'm just wondering if I should book the doodling class at 3pm. I'm probably being greedy as I'm doing classes at 4.30pm, 7pm and 8pm on Friday already. I have Nellie's class booked for Sat but if I can swap I can do the Colour Creative Album class which I also fancy. CarolynUK
24-04-2008, 03:38 PM
The transfer should be 30-40 minutes once it leaves the airport - its not that far away!

Registration and check in are 2 different things

Check in for your room etc can be done as soon as you arrive - Registration for SaGa is officially 3pm, but as classes start then - I would assume that there will be staff there to register those in the classes before they start as you need your class ticket!

Edd
24-04-2008, 03:40 PM
Hopefully Heidi will bring registration forward, since she's put a 3.00 class on. I wouldn't have thought we could go straight into class, as we'll need our tickets to give Nellie.

HI Sarah mine was in Dutch too, think it is more aimed at the dutch who make come for a shopping day & a make & take.
No definitely don't take stash, we normally finish off the class kits in the crop room.
I don't take food or drink either.
I have taken food in the past but it has never been eaten.
We get a wee snack bag with water, crisps, stroopwaffles & sweets in our goody bag.
The bar is free for soft drinks, I would take a bottle of water or juice to drink in the classes as I always feel dehydrated & thirsty.

I meant how much to take to spend on stash Dawn in the mall etc. If they sell the surplus kits, how much do they go for

Sorry Sarah, I skimmed read as usual.
I normally take £200- £250 worth of euros, but may take a bit more due to the euro rate being lousy.
I normally come back with a fair bit of cash.
Take presents for my husband & children also some stash.
The kits are normally the same price as the class.

Just found this thread again . I've FINALLY fixed my schedule !! All because class 25 suddenly came free when it had been full so that's me now sorted !! Hurrah . I've even paid.
I'm doing a ludicrous number of classes - don't think I have a spare slot at all which is probably daft but what the hell - who needs sleep !

Has anyone else managed to memorize every single class and number ?!!

Can't believe how much my schedule has changed since I first started booking the classes.
Is anyone else flying back late on the Sunday . My flight's not until 21.05 !! Think I'll be cropping at the airport before coming home.. or sleeping !

From Wikipedia
"Beef tripe is usually made from only the first three of a cow's four stomach chambers."
It's looks like rubber and smells disgusting when it's cooking. It's one of the few food stuffs I have never even been able to contemplate putting in my mouth:wacko:

Still fiddling although I've now paid - thought that might stop me from tinkering around at the last minute ! I've dropped the Donna Downey one ( sure I'm going to regret it ) but it did enable me to fit more classes in - there are 2 I couldn't get onto - the Bazzill album and I had to drop the RP treasure box thingy to squeeze in Melodee's class. No that is not always the case, Dyan Reavely class on Sunday was not saying full for me but it was on Frances screen,I logged in as her & sure enough it was saying full for her.
But she did get a space eventually.

We were at a hotel in Tenerife that had tripe on the menu when it was Canary night, I had to get my husband to get my vegetables for me, I would have started cowking.
We made sure we ate out next canary night.
I can't even imagine the texture of cutting that up with your fork & knife.
One good thing on canary night my sons got huge prawns that kept them happy.

I dropped Donna too - too much time and too much money - but it was a wrench, as I do like the sound of it.

Love the sound of the treasure box, but last year I gave up Melodee to do Mr RP, do this year I'll do Melodee.

I keep going back and looking, but if I'm honest I can't see what I'd change - I'm happy with what I've got.

I've taken out Technique Crazy and put in the Bazzil Judge This Book class instead - I'm trying to rack my brains to remember if someone on this thread wanted the Technique class and was disappointed because they couldn't get it ? If you go take a look now there should be a place free.

If you look at Lily My Lovelys posts she has set up a poll for each class time.
If yoiu can, when you set up the poll you put Scrap-a-ganza holland, time day & have the option for viewing poll.
Must admit not set up a poll before but you can always edit your post if it does not work first time.

Ok Nina got my poll working just done the one so far.
What you do is go to scrap-a-ganza holland section, click new thread
put in your dates & times, then click on the section at the bottom of the post add poll, when it asked how many option, you need to have the same amount of options as classes in the time slot.
The click make poll public & post.
It was quite easy, if I can do it anyone can.

First poll up is here for the earlybirds.

Do you mean other than the kits?

However much I can convince DH was in the kits - honest!

Or will put in in a box in the boot and say that it is yours and then add it to my stash mountain when he's not looking

Having just been and looked to find out he dimensions of the diva bag (its still got about 10cm of length & 10cm of width within the hand luggage cage, so the MEC shopper (http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444254 3349&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302699955&bmUID=1209733624089)will be out as my cabin 'bag' (even if there are multiple bags in it!).

But on the description I saw it said it had a paper storage box inside ... good for maybe bringing SAG goodies back in my travel rucksack (preferred luggage and also lighter than my hard sided case I think...besides its far easier on the Amsterdam trams with the rucksack!). Then had a thought! we seem to amass loads of bubble wrap in our household and its doesn't get used as much in these days of post being done on thickness! So I think I'll take a bundle of it out with me and I can then use it to potect the goodies as my bag goes through the schiphol baggage handlers! Thought it might help others with their luggage concerns as an idea!

Bubble wrap is a VERY good idea B)

Fab idea - Thanks for sharing. Was also planning to pack an Art Bin (or similar) in my suitcase.

It's going to look very odd though - a virtually empty suitcase with a couple of toiletries, bubble wrap, an art bin and scrapbooking tools (clothes I'm taking as hand luggage!). Hope my bag doesn't get pulled by security!

If any of the SAG regulars have any other tips, they would be gratefully received!

Fiona the architecture one was sent as a preview from scrap-a-ganza email titled stratford.

Juki-Best to have a 28cm suitcase with wheels you can get lightweight ones.
The MM runway tote can be used as handluggage you can always pack full of class kits too.

HI, This is the first time I've seen the sneak preview of KB's architechture. I find it hard to see how you could do this particular style of LO without having the photos first! Based on all the postings from previous SAG attendees, I wasn't going to take any with me. (I know we don't have to use the same topic but I like the idea of scrapping an Amsterdam page and won't get the photos until after the event). ^_^

It depends who & where you fly from whether you can have 1 or 2 bags ... Flybe (which I'm going with) only let you take 1 bag still. So my shopper will be my 'bag' but in that I'll have my diva bag and if needed other bits that won't fit in!

So you could put you handbag & diva bag in a shopper to make it 1 bag ... or put it in your diva bag ...then take it out fter security... basically it has to 1 bag at security (which at Schiphol is after the duty free etc.)

As Caz says it depends on your airline. KLM will let you have a carry-on bag plus your handbag plus a "laptop" bag (and they kindly classifed my MIMI tote as a laptop bag)

If you are worried about it, then it might be a good idea to check with your airline :)

You won't get through with any drinks mind Sarah, if you are taking alcohol put it in your case.
Don't worry just take the essentials for the tools which are listed.

The euro rate being very low won't be spending much either.

I always take a large canvas holdall with wheels. It weighs next to nowt, but is big enough to take 12x12 albums lying flat and vertically up the sides.

I got all 15 class kits, the contents of the goodie bag, a pizza box and all my stash shopping in it (as well as my clothes and bits!) for the trip home and it weighed 22 Kg!

Mind you - I travel out VERY light - 2 prs knicks. 2 T shirts, spare jumper, 2 prs socks (in winter), nightie, toothbrush, hairbrush and deodorant...... I don't cart hairdryers, straighteners and huge amounts of toiletries (they are supplied in the bathroom) and slap with me .....

But they are doing the ship a box home this time so I may do that and save my arms!

Heres a pic of my bag - they have them in Kaleidocope for £18 - bargain!

I spoke to a friend who works for BA from T5 - she has said its ok now and she hasn't lost her bags yet! BUT - she wouldn't advise packing anything too valuable in your case as its fate that you will lose your case. If there are other options then she would advise touse them. ( she is a scrapper so know how precious our kits etc are!)

Hope this is helpful to those using T5.

I am flying to SAG by KLM on the Thursday, orginally at 10.20. On Wednesday I got a call from KLM to say my flight had been cancelled:(, but they could transfer me to a earlier flight - I am now on the 8.10 flight (need to be at airport for 6 in the morning:wacko:). And they would send me a knew e-ticket. As I hadn't recieved it, I went on their web-site to find out my flight no. The flight that I booked and paid for on 11 February cost me £106, the new flight if I was to book it today would cost £368:ph34r:

Sarah I fly KLM from Glasgow - if you booked online then you just need to print out your e-ticket.
You can also check-in online 36 hours before you go.
For the return flight make sure you leave your details with your OH and get him to check you in for the return flight.

Hi Sarah have you managed to find your e ticket in your emails?
Check in the morning before to choose your seat, then you & your mum can get sitting next to each other.
So you need your e ticket & print your boarding pass when you choose your seats.
Then you only need to be there an hour before hand. A lot less stress.
