Hi...My name is Andrea and I am a S.A.D !!
I am in deperate need of 'stash therapy' and i agree to stick to the following rules......

* i am allowed to purchase adhesives as required
* i am allowed to attend my monthly crop (£10)
* i can have £20 each month as a budget as long as i complete at least 1 LO per week. This money may roll over from month to month to add up to allow for spending at a retreat or craft fair.
* i can earn £2 per 12x12 LO completed AFTER the compulsary weekly one
* i can earn 25p per card made
* i can earn £2 per pound of weight lost ( i want to lose a stone )
* i am allowed to purchase kits for CC's

Welcome to all who wish to join in for using up our stash in 2008...... yes ladies that means actually CUTTING into those papers!!
So we have a couple of weeks left to stock up on essentials and get that last 'fix' before we get down to scrapping and chatting instead of surfing and shopping:D.
In readiness for the new year i am setting myself the tasks of completing any half finished LO's and also im going to scrap my 'rules' so there is no hiding from them lol!
So i encourage you to sign in let the scrapping begin.....

aww thanks Fae, I knew I had to have the seals as soon as I saw them at AP ;) and they were the last set too! Am fighting the urge to use one on everything I do at the moment! only reason I didnt put on on the second card is they are both for the same person!!

If I didn't already have 2 different sets of round sentiments I'd be searching for a set for me

need to be up on time tomorrow and Friday, else I'm not going to get my hours in this week (as I left for the earlier bus tonight despite having started 50 mins later than normal!)

Me too, Helen! Actually, I think the wrong team won - and I think the female project leader - whatever her name is - should have been the one to go. DEFINITELY! And I really liked Simon, too. He seemed like a gentleman - everyone else was too busy slagging everyone else off. Especially that Claire! I hope she is the next to go.

I honestly thought that the other team would lose being shut for so long and then yes Helene should have been the one to go. I just cannot believe that he has kept Clare in and let Simon go. He was honest and completely WYSSWIYG - I would hire him any day, his work ethics are just exemplary.

Night, Fae!
Totally agree, Helen! The way Helene picked on that blonde girl was obscene, imo! - but then it IS difficult to know the true picture, because of the way most of the stuff is edited.

I am gutted Simon went, as you say he seemed like the most genuine and nice. Too nice for the rest of them! I agree Helene should have gone, but you have to admit Lucinda is a bit hopeless  And that team's choice of theme was MUCH better.

I don't see the problem with that  If I do a LO for a wekly challenge I get 10 for an SLO or 20 for a DLO over and above the chalenge points.

Only problem I can see is you have to upload to get the challenge points, but I wouldn't dream of uploading a CJ entry until the owner got it back

You could claim your CJ entry for the weekly challenge and claim the SLO/DLO points as normal plus the 30 points for the weekly challenge. What I don't think you could do is also claim the 25 points for the CJ entry. For LO points it has to be 6x6 or larger.

Printed off a piccy - off to play with my GoGo kit.

You didn't miss anything - I posted over in our DQ thread!

That's me getting confused which thread I'm on

I'm skiving off work early - time for DH to make up for the absence of an anniversary card  Not to mention that I'd had enough at least 2 hours ago, it's been like trying to work in a zoo in here today, constant noise!

jennyap

So to summarise -

- if you're prepared to upload it you can claim the 30 challenge points

AND

- you claim EITHER 25 points for a CJ entry OR 20 points for a DLO if it's big enough (so 25 if you've got any sense )

Clear? :P

I didn't think the weekly challenges had to be a LO, though I haven't read this weeks

So I could claim 30 points for completing the challenge, plus 10 for a SLO
And Dawn could claim 30 points for completing the challenge, plus 25 for a CJ entry

I wasn't suggesting Dawn claimed 30 + 10 + 25

Sorry Cheryl meant to PM you. They called this morning and I had to call back - ordered via the site and spent £40.35 AFTER discount and got my free P&P too. Think they are only there until 5 so you need to be fast in case there is a query but to be honest Maria there went to look at my order and immediately offered to refund me so I cannot fault their service.

Number to call them is 01202 862392 if you need it.

Evening ladies - had my regular check-up at the dentist this afternoon, and I am really, really depressed now.......I've apparently been doing quite a bit of damage by grinding my teeth in my sleep, so have to have a bite guard. Then I have to see the periodontist coz my gums don't look good and I have to have 3 white fillings replaced. Overall, I'm looking at close to £600 of treatment over the next 3 months. Guess I won't be buying much stash........

Tillybud

Jo - that house is amazing! I would love that kitchen..... how come they're selling up?

They started off in a 2 bedroomed ex council house - but he is a builder and they have either built there own or done up old houses. That house has all that space and there is only the 2 of them!! Thay have decided it too big and its about 5 miles out of town - they are moving back into Elgin. You would be pushed to spend that amount of money in town even in the nicer area they want to move too - so should imagine that when they downsize they will have no mortgage - and she is only my age!!

The house we have got our eye on has dropped in price again - so fingers crossed.

I took out a health insurance plan which is well worth it as I have glasses as well, but silly me didn't for DH and he has just paid £1000 for all his work in the last 2 months :o

Is confuddled! Says 4 bedrooms in the text, then at the bottom says Bedrooms : 5

If I move I want more than 4 bedrooms. Need one for (D)H, one for me (so I don't have to put up with his snoring and drunken moods!), one for DS2, one for DS1 when home on leave (where he can leave stuff), one for GDs when they come and stay, one in case DD or my parents come at the same time, and a couple of rooms for my stash (one to store the bulk of it, and one to scrap in!) So that's 8 as a minimum

And speaking of craft rooms....

I'm just having a quick brew (and catch up) before bed, having survived my first ever visit to Ikea

Decided I'd better go check it out and see if there's anything big that's worth getting stuck in a scrum for on Saturday (21% off day!), and I've seen some kitchen units that I think would make my bedroom/craftroom much more organised. Need to play around with measurement in my lunch break tomorrow, and if I can get things to fit on paper I'll probably head back down tomorrow night to use their software and check out worktops and handles

Did mention to a member of staff I'd probably have to pay it over three invoices to I could use three cards (that time of the month already!), but she said they should be able to accept all of them on one -- which hasn't exactly gone anyway towards stopping me going back

So I'm told  And even worse as they've got the big sale on !!!

But it makes a huge difference to the cost of kitting out my room  But it would also make a serious dent into the spare money at the end of the month, which means very little to splurge at Bolton even if work now have my payroll right and include the 7 weeks backpay the owe me on the element they failed to reinstate !!!! Got an email last Friday morning - just as I was starting to type an email to our Union rep as 'people helpdesk' hadn't responded to a 'please let me know ASAP if someone is still investigating this' email I'd sent at 11:10am on the Wednesday.

Payroll cut off was today (I think) and they said they'd told payroll to make sure they included it this month..... so I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed. If it doesn't turn up (or the back dated bit is missing) I plan to kick up a stink to get an 'advance' on it which they sort it our for the May payroll. And I won't give up easily either :nono:

Have spent all day thinking about whether or not I can afford/justify "fitting out" my room -- and have decided I'm back off to Ikea tonight to be 100% sure of what I want, and then an early, early start tomorrow morning to try and get it all.

BUT..... I've got to try and get stash from three rooms (plus bits in the living room and kitchen!) into here, so the agreement I've made with myself is that what doesn't fit has to go!! I'm sure DD will take some of it off my hands, but if any of it is "sellable" that will recoup some of the cost ;)

Off to play with their planner for a while now -- it says you can save it onto their server, which I assume means you can then open it at the store to get hints and tips from the staff  Then I'll have to find something Q&E to make for tea, as I'm not going to want another late night if I'm having a really early start in the morning :nono:

Depends really! The delivery was from Trimcraft so new Dovecraft ranges - one in black white and pink, another called Fantasy which is all Fairies and Dragons, and finally a pet one. All have matching brads, ribbons and chipboards. Also some new glitter brads in flowers, shoes with handbags and finally butterflies with dragonflies. New range of little clear stamps for 99p which included some lovely swirls, and a complete weeney alphabet in different fonts blocks mounted - think it was ALL 30 stamps for just 99p (got to have some of these!!!)

Will see if there is a pic anywhere.

Cannot find a photo anywhere of the stamps sorry! The Dovecraft papers are very resonable TBH - 6x6 are £2.99, 8x8 are £3.99 and 12x12 are £4.99 for 36 sheets but with 12 designs you get three of each so easy to split with 2 others if you all wanted them making the 12x12 a bargain price of £1.66 for 12 sheets!!!

The alphabet stamps are really really lovely and I might just give in with those as I cannot see them lasting especially the nice script ones!

They are not the best quality in the world but at that price it does not matter! Deffo the sort of papers you would want to chop up and use bits of tho in the fantasy collection. In the pet one there are lots of different pets including hamsters and goldfish! That could be the problem tho in that most people have a cat or dog and will craft with one or other could be a case of too many pets spoil the pack ! Black white and pink is really striking tho!

We had ours today but the drop is not expected until next week so might be worth a call to see if they have them all as I know this is an extra delivery and not all stores are likely to get it!

I NEVER go near our Ikea on a weekend. Its absolute chaos

Helen, we've given up on the Croydon IKEA, even mid-week it is crazy. We go to the Lakeside one now - twice the distance but only takes a few minutes longer to get there! We do actually go on a Saturday, if we get there at about 5pm it's usually pretty quiet. No way I'd brave it tomorrow unless I wanted something big though.

I got some good post today - over 500 photos from Photobox, hopefully I'll get a bit more scrapping done now :)

500 Jenny!!! Wow - we'll be expecting lots of LOs from you now then! ;)

Um yeah, ok  They're not all for scrapping with, plenty will go in albums. At the rate I scrap they would probably keep me going for about 10 years :lol:

Jenny we always use Lakeside too - I used to live in Croydon and the Purley Way is always mad. Ok you have to pay to use the crossing at Dartford but tis worth it and you have the other shops there too which is a bonus! We tend to do the other end of the day and get there nice and early to have breakfast but I work on a Saturday now so cannot do that any more :(

What time does the sale start Cheryl ??

doors open at 6am for Family Card holders.... and I picked mine up last night

been back tonight, changed the plan a bit (forfeited some storage for extra worksurface) having taken advice, changed my mind on the units I wanted (same price as I really didn't like the texture on the cheapest ones, but prefer the cupboard doors and they don't need handles -- grooves on the edges -- so that makes it fractionally cheaper than the ones I was looking at and the units are more "flush"), and a member of staff keyed my 'order' into the system. Means that when/if I get there early tomorrow it's a lot quicker to process.

Got more good news on it too -- they don't stock some of the bits I want, so it has to be a "distribution order" which means a 3-4 week delivery. That means I've got time to try and re-home the stash in my room round the rest of the house (after the CC) and paint the walls first -- may even have time to change the floor covering if I can find something I can afford. And best of all, hubby needn't know I've paid for it before pay day

DH - oh you must be so desperat to go there tomorrow - I said well if you were spending a couple of hundred quid or even if you are on a limited budge tis worth it. Saying that I would not take DD there tomorrow, especially the Croydon one which is always mad!

Mine's about £1150 before the discount :nono: :o :stop:   -- unless I change my mind on anything else overnight  So that's a saving of £241.50, which I consider well worth getting/staying up and fighting the hordes for. Shall be seriously miffed if I get to the front of the queue to be told they've "sold out" of some of my components though :(

And the under cupboard lighting I've seen that I like would be an extra £197 before discount (so another £40+ saving there if I can stretch the plastic that far!!!)

Have a feeling the lighting will have to wait and be bought at full price at a later date though -- especially if I want to try and change the carpet for something else before the units arrive !!!

Hi all - off to bed in a sec, but I am contemplating going to Ikea tomorrow - I only want a couple of shelves for my Expedit unit, but I am trying to get tidied and sorted at the moment - even DH said that he would come, which is amazing! I don't think he has a notion of how busy it will be tomorrow - I wanted to get there first thing, but he wants to sleep in!

Anyway, congrats Joan and well done. :)

Morning - kind of! DD woke us at 4.30, then our garden furniture was delivered at 7.15 - I feel like I've been hit over the head with something hard! Have a humungous laundry mountain to get through as well as a Photobox order to organise. Thankfully, DH is taking DD off to the swings and shops with her godfather for company so I'll get some peace and quiet later......! I'm going to see if I can get a bit more kip first tho

Congratulations Joan - I'm not surprised your LO won, I've loved it since I first saw it!!!

morning all

Been to Ikea. Done the grocery shopping. Put the groceries away. AND I've had time to make and drink a brew

Bet you didn't expect to see ME around this early

Couldn't sleep - think I was scared of oversleeping! So, after all the comments about queues building up long before opening I decided to go early.

Got there at 4:30 ( ), and a chap opened the gates for me 10 mins later (weren't supposed to be opened until 5). Store opened at 5:30, but we weren't allowed on the shop floor until 6 -- so I went and grabbed a free breakfast along with the other dozen or so people who were there.

By the time I got back to the entrance there were loads more people there, and when they let us in/up at 6am it was a real mad dash. I went and grabbed the lighting I wanted then went back to kitchens -- to be faced with a huge queue. Shortly after staff came round asking how much people wanted, and those who were only after 1 or 2 units or worksurfaces were being queue jumped!

If I'd stuck to the scheme entered onto the system last night I'd have mentioned it, but having checked all my plastic last night I didn't think I could scrape together enough and still feed the family for the next 11 days (and have the money for the grill being fixed, which I'm hoping will be this week), so had changed to cheaper units I wasn't quite so keen on (but would save me around £250 after discount).

So about 10 mins after I joined the queue more staff came along -- offering vouchers that mean you can go back no later than 4th May and still have the 21% discount. But these only work on things from the units section of the kitchen brochure, which is fair enough. So anything else (like my lighting, or pots and pans, crockery, cutlery etc) had to be bought and paid for today.

I grabbed one quickly, as it means I don't have to pay until after I get paid (30th), plus it means I should be able to afford the one I like. As an added bonus it also gives me another 2 weeks to clear out my room, and I may even manage to scrape together the money to paint and change the floor covering before it's delivered.

It was just as well I grabbed my lighting when I did though, as when I went back through that section straight after getting my voucer there was only one white unit left !!!

So I was out of Ikea (having still managed to spend almost £200 on lighting, storage jars and a new dressing gown!) by 7:15am :)

Well, he was going to - his company were going to pay for driving lessons and whatnot but he decided to get his train travel free instead  The man just does not get the need to go to these places!

The nearest IKEA is Leeds - but it's the other side of Leeds and would involve 2 bus rides & a train, not very practical for carrying all the stuff I want  Plus, they've rolled out their mail order but everything I want says 'sorry this item is not eligible for delivery'!

Have just found out we're getting an ILVA - IKEA's big rival ;)

19-04-2008, 10:52 AM
Right.. I'm about to head out again! Did my grocery shop at Asda, and totally forgot to come home via Tesco for the Daily Mail and the free DVD!!!

Well done, Cheryl, a definite reward for being there soooo early :) What is the name of the unit range you are going for now? DH & I want their wardrobe fittings but can't find someone locally to build the actual wardrobe Too small a job, apparently :(
OK, off to deliver broken wheelchair from Sainsburys to DH to be fixed, do a bit of shopping and then maybe a detour to local craft shop, just window shopping, honest!

Tash tht last bit made me
Cheryl i stand in awe!! you are the SADs version of Anthea Turner!! I can only aspire to be as organised as you are!
I did contemplate the Ikea sale as the kitchen units i want are from there so would have saved about £250 but with our bathroom mess no where near finished (hopping mad with ins company as they are dragging their feet giving the go ahead to eveything...and it happened 10 WEEKS AGO :angry::angry:)
Also we only use credit cards in emergencies i didnt want to put it in one (im a cash up front girl now) as we got burnt for paying of the business cc debt when our business went (DH partner got to walk away)
so as i dont have a spare £1000 and have nowhere to store the units for the next few months (new dishwasher is already in the playroom) we decided the discount wasnt worth the hastle
off out with kids now see you all later x

19-04-2008, 12:33 PM
I didn't really want to put it on plastic, but it would have only been until pay day (30th) when I get the money I'm owed from the first 7 weeks back at work ;)

The units I want are the Solar white, with Pragel white worktops.

went to bed around 1pm, with alarm set for 4pm -- but I didn't hear it. DD phoned at 4:15 or thereabouts -- and as I answered the phone I was expecting it to be the newsagent chasing DS2 for his Sunday round

when I got off the phone a few mins later, I rest my alarm for 5pm -- and fell straight back to sleep. I heard the alarm that time, but very nearly went straight back to sleep :nono:

I'd read that if you were "unable to complete" your kitchen purchase they'd offer you one of these vouchers -- but I expected that to be late on tonight, for those still in the queue who they wouldn't be able to serve before midnight.

I bought 6 of the 99p clear stamps (duplicated the alpha for easier double letters) and one of the wooden alphas. Almost missed them, it was only chatting to the girl who served me that reminded me I was looking for them :D
Also bought some 8x8 PM papers for DDs engagement album so thats this months budget spent!

cw18
19-04-2008, 07:51 PM
Having taken a quick look at the alphas, I'm tempted by a couple when I can pick them up in person from somewhere

And like Suky, I'm seriously considering doubling up on the ones I want. At that price it's an afforable option :)

I just bought 5 of the clear 99p sets - I love my MM magnetic alphas rather thsn the wooden ones. I had a reply from Sam at Gorilla Crafts - the offer had expired but they hadn't removed the note about the 5 for 4. She has honoured it for me though and is refunding me the 99p. My local craft shop might get them in but she is usually £1.49 each for them - so with my discount I was cheaper to get them online. And I bought some BF stamps from the Marketplace yesterday!!
