Anne C
16-04-2008, 06:25 PM
Well that is me for another 6 months...the dentist does not bother me..it is the professional torturer they refer to as the "Hygienist" that finishes it for me....3 injections to get treated by the hygienist....and I could still feel it:ph34r:

Thanks for your comments on my LO, been ages since I scrapped anything and probably would not have done this if it was not a sketch:blink:

17-04-2008, 02:06 AM
Night everyone! I had a nice dinner tonight as it is a really nice warm day and DH cooked steaks on the grill and I did the salad and baked potato inside. And the mailman brought me my Finished in a Flash Kitchen collection in the mail so I'll be able to take it to the retreat and do the pages from the Pierogi Day event. Also, I ordered a framed poster to put above my coffee station and it came today and lastly, DH ordered me the new John Grisham book unbeknownst to me and it came today as well!! So feeling pretty good.

I am tired, but wanted to do the weekly challenge. I wasn't going to because I thought it was too restrictive again, but then I remembered a picture my sister wants me to scrap for her that just might work. If I at least get it all organized, then I could assemble it tomorrow night.

Sweet dreams of scrapping together.

evening girlies

I am unfortunately poorly this evening. I seem to have gotten hit with the flu bug and feel dreadful. Just wanted to pop on and check that you lot didnt organise anything without me knowing lol!

i checked the price of the hotel via www.hilton.co.uk/blackpool and it was £86.50 earlier today on the advance purchase deal... hopefully once we get final confirmation we can get it booked.

I'm off to bed - chat tomorrow girlies x

Anne C

Anne C

Yes Tracie, Stacey enquired and it should be around £5 a person for the function room so we can have a scrapping Saturday:lol:

love the layout sharon

i have been on the blackpool hilton site today and it is showing the £86.50being available - it looks like you need to search a few times before getting it.

Do we book it though if they are not going to accomodate those who are just coming for the 1 night?

I know it works out a really good deal for the 2 nights stay but it won't be good if some of us have to stay in a different hotel - what do you all think we should do?????

why dont we check out the cost of the family rooms and they could pay the difference;)

PaulaG
18-04-2008, 02:43 PM
2 of us in a room is £175 total
3 of us in a room is £303 total
£128 of a difference for the person who only wants to stay 1 night.

I think your right though - that if the people who only want to stay 1 night book for 2 nights but dont stay the friday night it would work out £86.50 for them each for Saturday night.

Hi everyone, I'm your new teamie, thanks for having me :)

A bit about me....
I'm Monica, 41, married with 2 children, a daughter Esme who is 2 & a son Ellis who is 5 months...so I've now got loads of things to scrap about...but not enough time to do it... We live in St Annes in Lancs (just down the coast from Blackpool)

I'm on maternity leave at the moment, due back in September, but I'm seriously thinking of taking a career break for a year (or two!) while the kids are little. When I'm at work I'm a programme manager for a huge US IT company (if you know your IT companies, not the biggest one, but no 2 ) & work is pretty manic/stressful at the best of times. (I was only back for 2 months between maternity leaves and that was bad enough!) The job I have & two small children doesn't mix, especially when DH works away M-F & I've no family close to help out...

I started card making years ago & discovered scrapbooking thanks to Rosemary Merry on QVC about 3 years ago & I've been hooked ever since. To be fair, I've always been a scrapbooker at heart, I used to do a scrapbook (the old sugar paper ones) of every holiday we had when I was a kid, so it was in my blood!

As I said at the start I don't have as much time to scrapbook as I'd like, but it's what keeps me sane & provides a bit of "me" time away from the kids.

My dream is when they are older I'll be able to set up a table for them in my craft room & they'll sit drawing/painting/scrapping while I'm scrapping...I know I'm dreaming!

I'm looking forward to "meeting" you all & finding out about you & yours. I'm usually on UKS most days, although I'm not the world's most prolific poster

Before I forget, can some one tell me or point me at a post that explains the points stuff etc, as this is my first team & I'm officially clueless!

TTFN

tinker

Hellooooooooooooo Monica :D

Welcome to the NORTY CREW :D

If you look at the very first post in this thread Anne has the points always on that first one, saves trawling through everything ;)

Cant beleive that your "down the road" from me :lol:

Evening girlies :) Tinks ((((hugs)))) the word poo comes to mind :( But I am sure we can sort it all out and still have a fabby time  I haven't booked any flights yet, so thats not a problem, and I can get Mark to change his leave to whichever weekend we go for :)

Hi Monica, welcome to the madhouse

I'm Sarah, 35, married to Mark, with 2 kids - Jemma is 9 and Tom is 6 :) We live on an RAF base in North Scotland;) Been scrapping for nearly 2 years now, but started off in cards too :) I am primarily a SAHM, but I do work 2 mornings a week as a cleaner - keeps me in stash (or so I tell my DH  )

Been sooo busy today - done the food shop, and then I have been sorting stuff for Jemma's party tomorrow... So may not be around much this weekend, as we hope to be going to a BBQ in the woods on Sunday - an organised thing, so fingers crossed the weather holds out

evening Monica, nice to have you on board!

I'm Paula, from Northern ireland. I am 31 yrs old & married to John and have 2 boys, Josh aged 5 and Dylan aged 1. I work part time for Halifax and i bloody hate my job!!!! lol!

Good that you are so close to Blackpool so hopefully you can meet us in real life in September - date TBC lol!

Well girls, doesnt look like i'll be around tonight, looks like i am going to be playin nurse! John has been off work since yesterday with bad cold - big time man flu! His temperature is soaring at the moment and has had to go to bed (very unlike him) so i gotta play the dutiful wife and watch him.

If that isnt enough - Josh's breathing is already playing up tonight! (Monica, Josh, my 5 yr old has recently started to stop breathing for approx 10 secs and then take one huge gasp of breath when he sleeps - he is being referred to hospital to get his ananoids out to hopefully fix the problem) very stressful to watch and listen to - going in and moving his position every 5 mins!

Anyway - i'm off - chat tomorrow - hopefully we will get the dates all sorted.

**Blackpool girls - we are going to try to get the hotel booking changed to the 26th but need to check if 26th suits everyone else and that no-one else has booked anything**

PaulaG
18-04-2008, 09:53 PM
Just seen Sarah's post - so at the moment - if the hotel allows us to change the booking the following are ok for the 26th

Paula (hotel permitting)
Stacey (hotel permitting)
Anne
Tink
Sarah

Tracie - TBC
Carol - TBC
Kate - TBC
Amanda - TBC

Oh Paula, you weren't feeling that well yourself, were you? Take care of yourself and everyone.

Monica, sorry I didn't go into detail before. I am at work right now as I live in the US, in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. I am married to Tom and have one son (Jim) still at home in high school aged 17. I have 3 other sons, Chuck (42), Chris (37), and David or DJ (23). I have 2 granddaughters, Alyssa (16) and Phoenix (almost 5 months) and 2 grandsons, Jacob (9 1/2) and Michael (7).
I work full time as a technical writer for the largest health care insurer in the US and sometime I hate my job and sometimes I love it. I love scrapbooking and do cardmaking sometimes also and I dabble in genealogy (which is how I turned up here as Paula is my DH's 3rd cousin's daughter!). Guess that's enough for now.

good morning all

had a very disturbed sleep. took josh into my bed and sent john into his bed - mainly as i wanted to keep an eye on josh's sleeping (which was completely fine the remainder of the night) and also to give john some peace and quiet. John is feeling slightly better this morning. My head cold is getting worse.

i am itching to scrap something. this week i got my scraproom kit, package from ktcrafts and also my simple scrapbook and CK latest mags - want to sit and scrap but dont have time nor energy - it just as well the cybercrop wasnt until next week!

Anne, hope the little doggie recovers quick to put your DS mind at ease.

I am just doing a little spring cleaning (not much) like putting in the screen door, putting the patio umbrella out, sweeping the porch and the deck and washing the blankets and comforters. I just went out for ground chuck and hot dogs so we can bbq again. Am loving the weather.

Sarah, I have been looking all over for the colored lunch bags, but I can't find them now except in plastic. So I guess I'll just send the blue ones. As for what you can do for me, I can't get my hands on those Prima birdies here. So if I send you some money, will you get them and send them to me? Unless you have some in the stuff you are trying to get rid of Anne? If so, pm me and let me know what and how much.

Can't wait for the cc next week so I can put together some more kits for my retreat! ttyl

Anyway, getting ready for church and finishing up laundry. Later on we have our last bowling game of this season. Hopefully someone will volunteer for President and Vice President so we can have a league in the fall. Good thing I don't know enough about the rules and regs or I would probably volunteer and then I would be kicking myself LOL!

Everyone have a good one and hopefully our Kate will pop in and let you know if she can come to the retreat.

Got the monthly done at the last minute! Was waiting for a better pic as my DB was supposed to bring pics over for me to print and hasn't done it. So I used this one of me, Phoenix, and DJ, which isn't the greatest pic, but WTH. Here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157843&nocache=1) it is if you want to see it.

Hi Hun, it is so good to hear from you....had me worried:wub: If you have caught up you will know we are trying for a get together on the 26th September in Blackpool

KateT

Hi Anne :) I am so sorry I had you worried Babes. I hadn't even seen your e-mail as I only check that personal address every few nights when I am sitting in front of the telly chillin' and I ain't been doin' any of that! I really have been meeting myself on the way back this week (am severely sleep-deprived!) but now that the quiz is behind me I can get back to my usual levels of merely moderate madness!

Now here's the bad news... I'm afraid I almost certainly can't make the weekend of 26th September :( I am provisionally booked to run a four-day training (Monday to Friday) down in Birmingham that weekend and it's very rarely that these things get cancelled. Still, you never know. So if it does get cancelled or re-arranged I will be with you like a shot!

To be honest, September is always my busiest month of the year. No one wants trainings in July and August but everyone wants to catch up in September! I never thought to mention this when we first started talking about looking for a date to get together, as I didn't realise we'd wait so long! I imagined we'd look for a July / August date and that would have been great. So I'm really sorry girls if I end up being the only one who can't make it...

They were, and it was :) Over a hundred people turned up and we took £412! :D Costs were minimal so we should still clear about £400 :D

Actually running it was funny though - Emily just kept running up to the front and wanting to have a go on the microphone  Like mother, like daughter, eh?!

Sarah - Your latest layouts are gorgeous Hun

Carol - Those little collars are sooo sweet and the website design is lovely  I think it is a lovely thing that you are doing... ;)

And then there was 11 pages of Get-Together talk! Not that you're all excited or anything...:lol::lol:

And finally - a big Norty welcome to Monica :D Welcome to the mad house! I'm Kate (as you will have gathered by now!). I'm also married with 2 kids - Jessica aged 8 (nearly 9) and Emily aged 6. I live in Warrington, North Cheshire. I am a personal development coach and trainer and I absolutely LOVE my job :D I am a rubbish teamie as I do far more chatting than point-scoring, and recently not even enough of that! It's great to have you on board Hunny ;)

Hi Kate - You have my sympathy - I once "volunteered" to organise a quiz night for work, never again, I don't think anyone appreciates the amount of work involved until you've actually done it. Sounds like it was a great success though & that's the important thing :)

Well I've been busy tonight doing a bit more on my MK entry for the CC, hopefully I should be able to get it finished before the deadline (it's not a LO, that's all I'm saying!) I've not got too much more to do, but will only get chance to work on it once kids are in bed & jobs done...

And great news about recommiting to your healthy eating plan. I haven't lost any weight the last couple of weeks but I have lost inches and my body fat percentage has dropped a little so I guess I am gaining lean tissue from all my trips to the gym as fast as I am losing fat! Oh well, as long as my new slim self is still emerging, what matters if it's happening slow?!! ;)

now where was I, oh yes the cc mystery kit...

Kate glad to hear you are still going to the gym, I start back at my walking tomorrow night, my friend and me are hoping to do The great scottish walk (12 miles) on the 25th May, we missed the date for the moon walk this year.

I would hope so, considering how close Monica is:lol:

I'm trying to catch up on this without going back on pages & pages (you gals chat a lot ) so bear with me!

A get together in Blackpool on the w-e 26-28 Sept?

I should be okay for the day time assuming I can get DS to take milk from a bottle by then (I'm breastfeeding - he's 5 months & is stubbornly refusing to
take expressed milk from a bottle, just like his sister did, but I converted her eventually, so hopefully I can do the same with him ) I'd need to be back for the bedtime hour though...

Caught up....

Oh Kate, its a pity you can't make the get-together but good news that it is due to your courses being so popular.

I will text Stacey now and let her know to go ahead with the flights.

The £86.50 for 2 per night (1 dinner) is still on for that weekend. Will be nice for us all to get-together on first night for a slap up meal.

Remember to book it via www.hilton.co.uk/blackpool to make sure you get the deal.

I am still feeling crappy but think i am on the mend, DH is still off work today.
My gran was rushed upto hospital yesterday and admitted with what they think is a chest infection and liver infection. My brother is sick too - so my poor mum is rushed off her feet with my brother and gran. I can't even visit as i don't want to give her the flu on top of everything else.

Anyway, glad i got the hotel sorted - bbl x

if you spray it onto the radiator it works better cos the heat makes smell go round the room more (not that I'd ever do that you understand!!!)

Evening girls :)

Been relegated to the steam driven lappy tonight  Just about caught up with myself from the weekend too..... Jemma had a great party, lots of glue and sequins everywhere, and fun was had by all :) Spent yesterday in the woods near the beach just down the road, having a BBQ and lots of activities for the kids, I ended up unofficial photographer

Anne, thanks for the call this afternoon, nice to put a voice to the name, and soon to put a face to the voice

Paula, hope you and the family are feeling better soon

Sharon, what a fantastic name for a cat  I'll see if I can get you some birdies, the place I got them from are out of stock right now, but I'll keep an eye out for them ;)

Kate, you sound as busy as ever, sorry you can't make it to the get together though :( Although if we all think really hard, maybe the venue will change the date for your seminar, and you'll make it after all ;)

Tinks, I am guessing you are a teeny bit excited then?

Carol, those collars are fabby - can't wait to see a cat one, may just have to have one for our moggy too ;)

Stacey, planning the shopping already

Monica, oh to have a hubby that ignores dust - I have a clean freak for a DH, which on paper sounds great, but in practice is a nightmare

Tracie, don't bring Clive, he may start using our stash

Weetie, glad there is someone to chaperone Miss Doodle, someone who will make sure she takes all her meds etc :P

Well that's me caught up for today anyway.........

Just been doing some more work on my MK project, it's taking way longer than I thought it would, but I'm determined to get it finished, almost there...

Off to bed now, night all...x

Monica, getting anxious to see your MK. And Anne, aren't you doing one too? Need to see that as well.

Paula, hope you and your family are getting better and that work is OK if you had to go in.

Sarah, glad Jessica had a good day. I hope to get the lunch bags in the mail tonight or tomorrow, this has been a busy week with church stuff and STC stuff taking up my time. Anne, you wanted some too? And I think Paula wanted some. Should I send 3 packages or should I send to one of you and have you send to the others (might be cheaper for me, but an imposition for one of you)?

Did we ever find out when Amanda's birthday is? Wonder if it's soon.

Gotta get ready for work. ttyl

Oh and Monica, when is your birthday dear?

One more thing before I go, here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=219794) is the link to the Red Ribbon House challenge poll. Be sure to vote for your fave!

Afternoon girls :)

Sharon, I can't remember who else it was for the bags either

Oh, and I don't think she'll mind me saying, but Amanda's birthday is on the 28th May

Paula, hope you feel better soon

Anne, I put the cheque in the post today , let me know when you get it ;)

I can't wait to see all these MK too ;)

Tom's at a friends for his tea, Jemma has Brownies tonight, so early tea for 3 tonight :)
And I got happy post today - Mum finally got round to sending me a baby pic of her, so I can make a start on her album for her 60th :) It's one of those tinted photos, which makes it look like a watercolour painting, it's truly beautiful and my Mum looks like a little doll  She sent another couple of photos up too, when she next visits, must get her to tell me who they are and she has lots of stories too :) She knew alot about her family, especially as my Nan and Grandpa were actually second cousins so everyone knew everyone else  which explains alot about my Mum's family :lol:

Right off to get tea sorted, may be back later...

Kate, you sound as busy as ever, sorry you can't make it to the get together though :( Although if we all think really hard, maybe the venue will change the date for your seminar, and you'll make it after all ;)

Weeellll..... It's funny you should say that! Since catching up on the thread and swapping posts with Anne on Sunday night, I have been doing a lot of visualisation to let The Law of Attraction / Universe / God-Force / Quantum Field know that I would really, really like to come along to the Retreat! I have been visualising us scrapping, chatting, eating loads of scrummy food, etc etc whilst almost simultaneously visualising the lovely lady in Brimingham saying "Oooh it would be so much better if we just swapped these dates around a bit"!!!

And guess what... I was working with Tif this morning and she turns to me and says "Oh by the way, there's this weekend course I've really wanted to go on for ages and ages which normally only runs in the north of Scotland but which is coming to the Lakes - but the only problem is it's the weekend of the 27th/28th September when we are due down in Brimingham and so I was just wondering how you'd feel about us going back to them and asking if we can re-arrange?"!!!! :o:D:D:D

Soooo nothing sorted yet girls (we have a commitment and we'll honour it if we can't amicably sort something else out) but it does seem that The Power That Creates Worlds is on the case...!!! :D:D:D A message has now been left and I'll let you know how it goes... In the meantime, please "see" me sitting around the scrapping table with you and then getting sloshed on half a glass of wine (a very realistic visualisation!) as it just might tip the balance ;):D
