It's just gorgeous outside. Something about the sun that makes everyone you see in the street stop and chat  Just been walking Eddie and got into a long conversation with a chap that retired 10 years ago ... heard all about his old job, his new gardening hobby and how his wife nags him about it  And all I said to start this was "morning" :lol

Sandra I love it when things like that happen, you just get carried away and start telling everyone your life story,it makes you feel better chatting away in the sunshine.

Well have to fill some forms in for dd,she is trying to get me another job, catch you later.

Hi all

Back from hols last night and just went to bed as I was exhausted. Long day travelling and too many late nights. Had a great time although the weather could have been better (wearing a fleece most days)!!!!

Anyway, need to unpack and tidy around. House is not too bad seeing as though a 19yr old has been home alone for 1 week plus had a few freinds staying over on odd night.

I'm still swaying nicely and feel like i'm still on the boat!!!

Will pop back later
Hugs to all

Lovely to have you back Gill :) Want to hear all about your hols once you've caught up.

No Jo, I haven't done anything with the MK ... but then to be honest I've just not had the time to do any scrappin. Still, I'm getting there, just some more paper work to sort out today, then hopefully actually get down to crafting   Still, haven't a clue what to do though - mind you I'm not that fussed about entering it into anything - just wanted something to make me think differently :) Jo, that made me laugh ... "plan L"

Lizzy - how is you mum though? must be the most difficult thing in the world for you. Still, good that you got yourself out and about and I know see coffee mornings in your future

Also, just to let you all know I got a pm from Suzanne .... just saying that she is officially saying goodbye to us :( She'll no longer be a tag-a-long.

Morning all,

Well it was lovely and sunny, but keeps going dark and cold, hope we are not getting any of that snow that some parts of the country have.:nono:

I am hoping to get my pay cheque today:rolleyes:,so will be going into town to put it straight in the bank, that's if it turns up,going to see mum later.

Will be starting my Rainbow Alphabet's,they don't have to be out till May,but sometimes I have trouble cutting small alphas on my Cricut,so will have to practise.

17-04-2008, 10:37 AM
What's Rainbow alphabets? CJ or something?

lizzyann
17-04-2008, 11:55 AM
Hi Jo,Not CJ,we make letters of the Alphabet, mine have to be in red, either card, papers, some letters we do more than one, then we swap.

lizzyann
17-04-2008, 11:58 AM
Well did not get the cheque,so will have to borrow from dd.

I will be phoning tomorrow to make sure they have the correct Bank details,as we get paid every two weeks, and next week is pay day,and I can't afford to have two lots go missing.

Proper got the hump again.

J0anne2403
17-04-2008, 12:24 PM
Aww lizzie that really isn't good enough, you know they can do an instant bank transfer, it will cost the company but if its their fault they pay right, disgusting really.

Oh I see, I am in the goodie bag swap for this cc, never done a swap before so a bit nervous and excited about getting mine delivered lol

Might look more into these swap thingies if all goes well

Well I well and truely did a stupid thing today  I locked myself out   What a stupid woman I am. I was all ready to go and walk Eddie so good think I had my coat on. And it went to put some papers in the recycling box .. anyway, I picked up the wrong keys  I had the keys for the post box instead of my car and house keys ... anyway, I just pulled the door shut   Lets just say its a good thing my mum and dad only live a short walk away

Other than that, I've been busy baking today - tomorrow, my mum & dads friends are visiting them. And I've known them forever ... you know the ones you still call Aunty and Uncle  Well, I'm really looking forward to seeing them, so I've baked some cakes to take over with me tomorrow.

Hi Folks

Been catching up. mY head is in the shed as far as scrappng and nothing sorted for cc - I may miss this one. i am still swaying like a good un with vertigo from ship - last time it last a few days so waiting for it to subside.

Been spending masses of time sorting/researching Weight loss surgery. Found the chap I want at Leeds, one of the best in the country and will phone later to see if my referral has gone through. I was origonally referred to a chap at Sunderand(nearer I know) but the more i read the more uneasy I felt - he isn't a people person but more cool and cautious, Simon Dexter seems to have the experience and people skills I want. I know people don't understand but this really is my last option. How many folks do you know who lose loads of weight keep it off? IT is proven that this rarely happens and I hardly lose weight anyway. Am suffering with so much discomfort in hips knee, mobillity affected, not to mention self esteem/clothes/health etc etc

Speaking of that, put 4lbs on before hols after having chicken korma from inidan and a a lovey lunch out - not fair I know. 1 week cruise - put nothing on althought ate and drank loads, fish and chips since I returned, KFC wrap and a snicker bar in 32 days ( I knwo shouldn't have) and this morning 4lbs down - now work that one out?????

Its my friends birthday today and going out for tea, am setting to make her card and was going to use the tearbear kits she bought me for my birthday but I can't find it - typical.

Soo off to find insipration, doesn't help she is a cardmaker!!!!

No need to justify to us what or why you've chosen a certain doc, we just hope that you are at peace with what you are doing and that all goes as smoothly as possible for you mate!

Morning all .... Gill, Jo's right, you don't need to explain anything to us ..we're just here for you :)

Sarah, glad the meeting went well ... have they agreed to having an open meeting for all staff? I think that's a great idea. And maybe they'll get to hear some home truths which will make some people actually sit up and listen to what's ACTUALLY  going on  Sorry, couldn't help that  I can just imagine him saying that to you as well.

I'm going to have to search this class of Shimelle's. I'm dreadfull, I forget to look anywhere else around UKS ... I stick to the few places I chat and that's it. I did one of her classes at Creative Pastimes... and she's lovely. May just have a look and see what you need for the class.

Off to mum and dads soon. Mum phoned earlier ... I think Dad's got the tummy bug that I had last week, he's been sick during the night. Not sure if they're going to put their friends off .... if they are ... cake anyone:lol:

Hi - I'm Jayne! Joanne PM'd me to say that you needed a new team member & I would love to join you all if you have room for me. I am a mature (some would say very mature) student at university studying to be a social worker (it seemed like a good idea at the time!). I have been crafting in one way or another since I was about 3, but discovered scrapping about a year ago, registered on UKS, and then everything went wrong that could go wrong and I just didnt have the time to do anything! I have reasonably understanding OH and a DD who has recently moved to Aylesbury.
Anyway, I have resolved to spend some part of every week scrapping - at the moment I am really enjoying the CC and this has given me the motivation to find a team to join. :D

Im Jo as you know, one of the newest team members but that's been over a year as well!

Been crafting for 18mths now, I am retired GP Surgery Manager (ill health) hence my new found crafting hobby, now I'm totally addicted and a true STASHAHOLIC :o

I am married with four kids, 3 girls (2 old enough to have left home, elder has two girls of her own that I adore) my youngest dd is at college doing Forensic Science and my baby boy (15) is Autistic.

I also have two adorable (totally spoilt) Boxer dogs

Thats about it for me, you don't want the boing stuff in details lol :lol:

Hi everyone,

Thank God it's Friday,I really do not like the new contractors.

Had to wait for DD to get me some money for me ,I phoned the office, and it seems that because my wages were paid by BACS they can't give me a cheque until it is returned to the office,I am soooo P----- Off.

Been to town to sort mum's money for the home out,as that is due,did not go to see her,why is it that when I am in a hurry I see everyone, but when I have time to stop and chat, don't see anyone?

Hi Jayne welcome to our team, my fellow comedy King,I am liz,I am divorced, have one daughter, who is on UKS,am retired, but have two cleaning jobs, and have been scrapping for 3 years.

Sarah im sorry how things have worked out workwise,if you do stay, things will never be the same,it is a shame all because of one person.

Jo how are you feeling now,I was going to do Shimelle's class, but as I live on my own,it is pointless.

Gill hope everything goes well for you,it is dishartening,I know from my experience,I have trouble with my knees, and I should really try to lose some weight, but because I have been depressed, have just kept eating,

I have just bought Paul McKenna's I can make you thin book and DVD:lol::lol::lol::lol:,yeh right, thought I would give it a try,(still in box).

Sandra hope dad's ok.

Hello, everyone:) Thanks for allowing me to join your team. My name is Dawn and I have been a member of UKS for 4 years, but rarely post on the main boards. I have been scrapping since the summer of 2003 , although in the last few months, my job has been crazy busy and I have not had time or energy for anything other than eating chocolate and watching tv!!! But this will all hopefully change-started the dreaded diet last week and so to keep busy in the evenings, I need to scrap.Already made more layouts this week than I have done in the last four months:)
A little about me....I am married to Rob and have two children-Phoebe who is 9 and William who is 5. I teach Reception children in an Under Fives setting in an Infant school-love my job, but not too keen on all the politics that are at play at the moment-too much paperwork, not enough money for support staff, etc!!! Shouldn't moan-it's Friday evening and the week has just whizzed by!!!
Well, I think that is enough for now-as you can tell once I start yacking...
Really looking forward to getting to know you all...off to read back a little:)

Hi Dawn :D
I'm Jayne and I joined the team today as well!! I am a mature student at uni doing a Masters in Social Work. It seemed like a good idea at the time but had a devastating effect on my life cos I had no time to scrap  Having got 5 assignments, 3 law exams and a dissertation plan out of the way since October, I decided that life cannot go on like that and signed up for the cybercrop! In the last 2 weeks I have done more crafting than I have in the last 6 months and loved every minute of it. I am currently on placement so wont be around much during the day unless I can sneak on there, but am really looking forward to being involved in the team (they all seem really nice so far!!! :))
I have 1 daughter who is 21 and moved to Aylesbury in December - we have the best relationship ever now - keep up to date with each others lives & unpick Dr Who, Lost and Heroes when they have been on tele!! I live with my OH and our cat Jaspa  I have been crafting forever in one form or another but discovered scrapbooking last year and havent done much of anything else since!
Oh dear - this is starting to look like one of my assignments!!:lol: Just wanted to say hi really

Sarah-I love your blog-it is always guaranteed to make me chuckle and your children are so gorgeous!! Both Phoebe and Will have been home from school this week with a nasty flu/sick bug, but are raring to go now it is the weekend.

Only if the deal is good-I'll iron all day, but you have to vacuum and mop my floors-I hate those jobs with a passion!!!! And I only dust before my MIL visits.
See on a Sunday afternoon, I escape upstairs with a DVD, chase the kids back downstairs to annoy their dad and iron merrily away...how sad is that?

oh noooooooo thats 6 lo's 60 points, if your unsure of the points I'll see if I can find my link to the points system and give you it, makes more sense then. The most I did one month was about 32ish I think and that was a big project, but points during cc are normally high for the team too. We won the CC before last, the Madhatters one (the team points league thingy), at least I think we did... elp me out memories fading lol.

Nah I must admit a little of my disabilities restricts my movement and mobility now so thats mainly the reason but I do sit n look at it sometimes and it makes me mad cos I did it when able and dh and the kids could do more now, unless I nag or struggle they ignore it even now, example...

dh brought the washing basket downstairs to the kitchen for me, I emptied it and had my loads ready to, managed to stumble back to the stairway with the empty basket but no way could I safely make it and the stairs with it. So I left it perched on the bottom step thinking the next up will take it, as you do... :nono:
Watch dd3 (17yr old) come out the loo, move the basket aside, go up two steps, reach down for the basket and place it back on the step :o:blink::(

I state my case :lol::lol::lol:

Came down to the sofa at 6am, feeling yuk still, was hoping to get to my craft warehouse today, because I missed Thursday evening and they don't open during the week its awkward.

DH has just rung from Tesco's, doing the shop on his tod cos I'm ILL (YUK) and low n behold, he has got to the checkout n LOST his card againnnnnnnnn, this is a regular thing, puts his pin in and LEAVES it behind. This is his 5th new card in less then a year, they are used to him now. The local shop gives it back, they keep it safe but the others have to send it off (well they all should but the locals now how daft he is)

A big fat zero!!!! It was the crop that I run monthly with my friend Jo (JoJo1 on here) so we do not even try to scrap ourselves in between all the running around we do:) We taught a layout each and chatted the day away.We had some new girls today and a full hall for the first time for a few months-we always go quiet over the Winter months and then pick up numbers through the Spring.
I am not a very productive social cropper-I never have the right bits with me-guaranteed-but I really love following a class taught by someone else. Cannot wait to take your class next week-white space defeats me every time:) I will be your biggest challenge!!!
Dawnx

Gertie
19-04-2008, 11:10 PM
Same as me Dawn, I like going to crops but never manage to get anything done, spend far to much faffing and chatting and then theres 'you've never got the right thing' problem

Yer long nap, if I still feel like this Monday I will see the doc, but I worked with em long enough to know they will say "VIRUS" as they do

I think it is too, just a weakling like me suffers longer

M Gertie Sarah fellow teamie mate, I think it high time you acknowledge your artistic talents and realise that Shimelle grabbed your piccie cos its tastful, now you know so neener and when I say you could start you own arty stuff I eally think you could, you'd earn a living doing what you love... cor its like lecturing my kids:D:D

WHITE SPACE, I freak, have to fill it, so I bought double of of your list to fill the gaps :lol::lol:

I am she who cannot decide what I need to take to my crops, I take EVERYTHING :)

So Sandra what did you take in the end?

Throat and ears seem better hoorayyyyyyyyy  nose is still snuffly but thats bearable

You can claim points for the lo in the cc but when the other classes appear a points list is also posted for the pre-crop classes and the normal classes, then you click on what you've done and the points get added to you cc team account, I think we can then add them to our own teams account too but I'll have to check that.

Hi guys .. hope everyone is ok ... not long to go Sarah, and you'll soon be shot of them :)

Bet you've had a lovely day Jayne, so come on how much crafting did you get done

I'm most impressed with me, I got a whole layout done  I know I talk to much to get enough done  But I'm the same, I never remember to take just the thing I need, so I'm happier sitting at home scrapping ... not that I do that enough either

Lizzy, (((big hug))) must have been a difficult day for you today.

Jo, that's a lovely layout ... and plus now you've been given instructions by the FAMOUS Sarah

I've had a lovely day today - spent most of it in the garden - it's be gorgeous out there :) We put all the new shelving in the greenhouse, and its starting to fill out nicely. Still lots to do, but no huge rush. Also got the vegtable beds ready today, and I planted out the potatoes, so that's good.

Right - I'm going to make myself a nice cup of hot chocolate ... anyone want one ?

Hi Trish - I'm Jayne - one of your new teamies :lol:
I am fairly new to UKS - although I did register a couple of years ago but then things happened & I didnt have time to do any crafting
Anyway I am a mature student at uni doing a masters in social work and was getting so bogged down with that I decided to give this a go to give me a bit of respite
I have been doing the CC stuff and having a whale of a time so I looked for a team to join and was invited to join the Tag-a-longs :D
I have been crafting in 1 way or another forever, but discovered scrapbooking last year after doing some cardmaking. I like trying out different techniques etc and I dont have any posh tools like a chizzly-wizzly thing :lol:
Oh - I get up very early and I dont do ironing :lol:

Hi everyone

Will someone please take my son off my hands, hes on about eating his birthday cake now :lol::wacko:
Why oh why is it when you want to get something urgently, its out of stock everywhere :( Try explaining that to a 3 year old!!
Was winding him up this morning saying that his birthday was last week but we couldn't be bothered celebrating it, should of seen his face, not a happy bunny

At this very moment, Isla is going round the kitchen wearing pink sunglasses her crocs on her hands pretending to be a dog

Flippin' heck Jayne, you get up early, only one 4 o'clock in my world and thats in the afternoon, well except when I'm working but won't have to worry about that for too much longer. I emailed CSCI this morning and told them my thoughts and concerns regarding this nurse, just waiting for a reply now, going to print that out and wave it under the boss's nose at the meeting ;)

Jo, you know alot about things, would you say that infringing someones human rights is an instant dismissal? I would of thought so. The manager had a quiet word with her
We have some proper numptys working there, take this morning for instance, one young girl was found having a fit by the trained nurse, instead of ringing the emergency buzzer he just put a call out for a little help, thinking that he properly needed help changing her bedsheet I replied I would be there in a mo and it wasn't until the laundry lady shouted me telling me that this girl was having a fit that I ran like the clappers. She was in quite a bad way and he left her  in the end after me and my friend shouted at him he phoned an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital But it took him half and hour to phone 999. Surely common sense kicks in,in my case it does but these night nurses seem to have non  But then we get it in the neck for telling the trained nurses how to do their job!!

Sorry for the rant, had to get it off me chest,2 weekends and counting, just gonna leave quietly or so the boss thinks ;) I may not be able to contain myself at this meeting next week and tell her to poke her job plus some other stuff and that I'm going to the CAB regarding her implying I'm a bully.

Weather here is blumin gorgeous :D

Oh Sandra :P

J0anne2403
22-04-2008, 05:45 PM
Oh Hun this sounds like an awful situation for you, it pains me too as I think this is more widespread then people actually think. I have been involved with many tribunals and also the setting up of good practice protocols for nursing staff but have always had a senior nurse to advise on the clinical side of matters.
Yet even a layman would have called for urgent help and dialled 999 long before half an hour had elapsed if they came across a fitting person, again even general first aid guides say that you should stay with a fitting person to help avoid them inflicting injury upon themselves whilst in that state.
Sarah is it a state home or private, when were they last inspected?
Are the staff as "trained" as they say they are, do staff go on regular refresher courses?
The long and the short of it is these people are their to receive a good service of personal care for which by all accounts they are not, the home is in breach of any contracts it has regarding the level of care/service it giving, my sticky point is, having not dealt with nursing home situations, to whom you next port of call and who that should be, perhaps you may be able to get some confidential advice as to what's being breached and what to do from either the Community Health Council details available from your Health Authority or your actual Health Authority because even if it is a private home they must be supervised in some way by the HA?

Sorry I can't be a better source of info but my base is mainly general practice and local health auth, but like I have been saying there's more than one way to skin a cat hun, the local press would be ever so interested, love stuff like this, that way the patients families would get wind too, opening a can of worms!

Now give that little guy a hug, bake him a nibble and don't tease him anymore you wicked mother!:lol:

Hi everyone,

Well went to the Hospital, they put these electro things on me to test my nerve reaction, the doctor could not get the machine to do what he wanted.

I thought it was funny, the outcome was that my left arm is slightly out of sinc with the right one.

Did not really understand, and the Doctor did not help much,so have an appointment in July,to find out more.

Cheers for the advice Jo
CSCI came in for an inspection last Thursday, apart from a few concerns regarding storing of the hoists etc,the place passed,I'm sure someone is giving them a back hander somewhere along the line :(
The home has already been in the news, the previous manager/matron stole £200.000+ from the residents :(

Alfies prezzies are all wrapped up,balloons blew up just got to get a few things for his little tea party tomorrow, had to get him a couple of little things instead of his main present but he was happy with that, will take him to toysrus on Saturday :D

Jayne, hope you are reconnected quickly :)
Jo hope you are feeling better soon
Lizzy sounds interesting :)

Morning everyone :D
Well I survived the chaos of being woke at silly o'clock by Alfie wanting to open his presents, which he loved.
He only seemed interested in wearing his big badge to nursery which he proudly showed off to all his little friends and the teachers :lol:

Taking a couple of his friends to McDonalds for dinner and then having a party tea here later.
I best get my butt into gear and clear the clutter off the breakfast bar/scrapping area :D:D

Happy Birthday Alfie .... Go mad kiddo ... run riot, have a blast   Mummy won't mind

Sarah, seriously something has to be done about the home .... Good for you making sure the right people know what's actually going on. I mean, they're blinking lucky that they've got you and some of the others ... ooohhh makes me so mad.

Jo, sweet ... maybe it's your diet that's making you feel bad - maybe an food intolerance?

Dawn .. what's a "hump" day  Oh happy St. George's Days everyone :) Simon's got a St. Georges Day Lunch today at the Grosvenor Hotel ... he loves it. I say lunch ... he'll be home late that's for sure

Jayne, what's Meniere's disease ... off to look it up  Glad to see you weren't off line for too long.

Lizzy, how's the arm this morning?

lizzyann
23-04-2008, 02:17 PM
Sandra my arm is fine, still getting tingles in the little finger, but not as bad now,it does not throb anymore, will just have to wait to see what the doctors are going to do about it.

Don't leave it too long Lizzy ... if you still don't feel it's right, go back to the doctors. Talking of which ... how the ear infection?

jayne b
23-04-2008, 03:47 PM
Meniere's disease is a malfunction in the inner ear - can cause chronic vertigo, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) & deafness. I was diagnosed 2 years ago after going to the docs for about 5 years to be told I had a virus/ear infection!! There isnt a cure and different things work (or dont work) for different people. I am on medication now & have hearing aids & have been fine for the last 18 months :D (I was going to say stable rather than fine but that is soooooo not true!!!) Just got all my other malfunctions to sort out now
Its easy on here - everybody else has to shout!!

Hope your feeling better Jo ?

Happy Birthday Alfie x

Hi Trish .... I'm still confused by the oscars, I may need to read up on them.

That's frustrating Jayne ... you knew something was wrong, and it took quite some time to sort it. Still, at least you know now.

I'm trying to catch up on all my paper work today ... but I keep getting sidetracked on here

My best friend all through school had that too, fortunately just in the one ear, she had loads of ops, they tryed to sort it so she would stop falling over so much but I was always picking her up even at sixth form. Thats when I was a healthier person myself of course :lol:

I feel yuk Sandra but can't quite say exactly what it is, yer I have this virus but thats almost gone, my blood sugars are ok, my bp is ok, everything I can check myself is ok. Mind you I have just commenced the torrent again and have doubled my iron and taken the meds to stem it a bit, maybe thats why. It is getting me down, like I don't have enough to cope with with my ever so falling apart body aye, oh well I'm breathing  {checks chests rises n falls} yep

I know this sound strange, but you know the troubles my mum had ... feeling dizzy, feeling sick, pain in tummy ... all those things. Well when it got particulary bad, that day. When I honestly thought she'd go into hospital - the doctor I called to the house, gave a whole list of aliments ... and he said it was depression. Well, she tried 3 different tablets, and now honestly, you wouldn't think it was the same person. Yes, she still has a problem with food ... but it's so much better now. Do you think, it could be the same for you?

Will try to do some ! Isnt it funny when you kinda have plans and then... What im trying to say is that I was thinking about trying to get myself motivated and do as much as I could for the CC and then DH has said he is going to take us out on Sunday for lunch  Cant remember the last time we all went out together, it was ages ago :( why this weekend ? Im not knocking it as we very rarely go out for Sunday lunch... but... well you know what I mean dont you ?

Nah, I do get down that I know but I have much moe that I enjoy and look forward to as well, I laugh alot, have more of social life than I have had in years recently, so I wouldn't say that I am depressed, miffed with life's stumbling blocks at times but nothing drastic

Trish that is what I am going to do,as I have an all day crop on Saturday, 9.30am - 10pm,but I won't stay all day, will see how I feel.

Sandra my ear is ok now, sometimes,it pops, but at least I can hear properly now.

Have spent this afternoon, pigging out watching a DVD,the new St Trinians,I love those films.

I love not having to go to work in the afternoon,so will try and manage on my morning job.

Sandra every team have challenges every day,and you get 1 oscar for every challenge you do,I won't be doing them all, because some are family orientated, and as I live on my own,it is a bit hard.

Wow a 9:30 - 10pm crop, thats terrific, ours are usually 10 -4pm, mind you I am normally pooped by 2ish and ready to sleep but that sounds awesome. I have been toying with the idea of one of these weekends away, they sound terrific and such a laugh, I'd have to save though, maybe quit stash buying a while (oh the pain )hehe
