oooo, I wanna see that Louise! My boys wouldn't go to the cinema with me! lol.
Jo, I love the idea of pretend shopping!
It's been a heavy day at work today, all store managers in the country have been called to a big meeting tomorrow - according to the grapevine it's to do 2 of the store management roles (there are 4 in most stores, we all 'manage' our own area). Its supposed to be good news for one and bad for the other and I have been told my role is definately one of them. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
I am puzzled by the challenge. I don't travel really so am finding it hard to think how I could incorporate a map! might take all week! I'm determined to get some good points this month though so will do it somehow!
Which reminds me - when I was looking at points for box I noticed a message from an old UKS member who used to be involved in the admin of points, she was letting Scrapdolly know that she was getting points emails. She said it sometimes took a couple of weeks before she forwarded them so teams weren't getting their points listed. Apparently some of the spreadsheets sent out to teams had her details instead of the right ones - any chance that is what happened to our points? We know they were sent so maybe the wrong email was given? Just a thought.

sarah hope its good news on the job front for you...i am too puzzled with this weeks challenge, no travel or holidays for us so the map is a problem....it does say map or plan though (doesnt it?)...so whats everyones thoughts on a plan???
Laura - i have left comments, but as rachel says brilliant as always.

Just a thought for the challenge, Havn't looked at the discription of the challenge but it could be the underground or in our area we have castle trail maps and whisky trail maps. Historic site maps. even your own street map. or a map of the places you have lived. These migh not be any use but it might get you creative juices thinkin out of the travel box. Night night x
Sarah fingers crossed xxxxx

Joanne - all i've done with the pen is wrap ribbon around it, and then a load tied round the top. Looks a bit rubbish though so going to have another think tomorrow night, probably will attach a few beads or something! I haven't decorated my box yet either, was thinking of stamping swirls all over and sticking on a few embellieshments!
Sarah - have got my fingers crossed for you xx
Think I might leave this week's challenge, have got so many other things to complete this week!

Hi Claire
That sounds like all I will do, Ive spent more than the budget easily and its full of stash, I hope she likes it, found it really hard though as looking at all the layouts in her gallery she has a digital die cutter and thats pretty much all she uses on layouts, so Ive put loads of other types of bits in in the hope she ejoys using some other bits and bobs!
Are you sending your anonomously or are you putting something in so she knows who you are, I might do and envelope with 2 smaller ones inside so she can pick whether she wants to know or not!
Joanne
clairewill
14-04-2008, 11:43 PM
Thats a good idea about the 2 envelopes! I was going to stick a journaling tag on the box with my name on, because I think we will all find out eventually anyway via the feedback!
Really looking forward to getting mine! x

morning all,
Thank you for all your lovely comments, you are too kind!
It sounds like you have been busy preparing your cyber crop goodies, is that next weekend then?
Fiona - The workshop was actually part of my Girlguiding UK weekend I did in March, as a group we were looking at ways in which GUK can incoperate the issue of human trafficking into existing GUK resources, and the possibility of setting up an international community action project in Belarus.
Sarah - Good luck, let us know what happens...
I'm off to Uni today so won't be online at all, catch up with you all later on though! x

Morning everyone! Have just been catching up on all of the Cybercrop pages, haven't looked for a few days and missed loads, including a Shimelle kit that looks really good - scrap your day for 12 months. Going to try to make up my own version :) And OMG the timetable looks so full, never going to be able to keep up with that! Laura - it's the weekend after next, 24-27th April. Still need to complete my Mystery Kit challenge before then!
Joanne - have you read any of the Goody Bag thread? Some people are doing stash/papmper mixtures and some are adament that it is meant to be a pamper swap. Even more concerned that my swapee likes what i've bought!
Sarah - any news?
~Rachel~

Hi Claire
Just read your post no, havent been on there this morning, mine is mainly scrapping stuff as my swappee didnt have much likes and dislikes in the pamper stuff.
The person making up my bag pm'd the organiser and I got a pm last night asking me for more ideas, Ive got all my likes and dislikes in my profile and all the pamper stuff is stuff you can get in tescos so was a bit surprised!

Hi all, thanks for all your crossed fingers - I think they worked! My job is changing- well its actually going to stay pretty much the same as I do much more than my job description but it means I will get paid more and have the whole staff and the jewellery dept as my responsibility instead of just the sales advisors. My friend who is also one of our 4 managers isn't getting it so good though so is going to look for another job :(
i also lose my day off this week as I have to go to a meeting to find out exactly what the changes are and how its all going to happen. Its a pain but at least I don't have to do another dreaded CV!
I have finally thought of an idea for the weekly challenge - I do alot of charity walks, mainly at night and over Exmoor so i might have a go at doing one of the routes as I always get a couple of pics of my team. might actually make a good LO! I'm too tired to start tonight though so will have a go tomorrow!
I have started gathering for our swap, but I can't remember how much things cost! I really don't want my parcel to look mean!
i hope you all have a good evening

15-04-2008, 09:40 PM

Definatly a big sigh of relief on the job front!
I have a question about the swop - are we supposed to provide everything to make a LO? The problem is that I don't have any complete alphabets for a title. I'm happy to buy some if we agree that we should provide everything needed.
Scrappydo
15-04-2008, 10:06 PM
Hi Sarah
Congrats on the job!
You don't have to provide everything for a layout, just send bits you don't want or need anymore. I've put yours in the post today.
I've done the weekly challenge, although I didn't use a handmade embellishments, so I will only claim 25 points. I will up-load tomorrow. I did a layout of my kids at Manchester Airport last year, on the way to Disney. I am really pleased with it, considering it was based on our time at the Airport!
Laura, well done on the weight lose, I've got weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Hi all. Laura that sounds really interesting. I'm glad that guiding is moving forward and keeping up with what is going on in the world. I felt frustrated when i was a leader as Guiding was stagnating. Human trafficking is a huge problem believe it or not we got many calls to Childline about trafficking of girls for marrige abroad and other more sinister reasons.
Sarah so pleased for you on the job front.
Going up to the cottage on thurs with the whole family as it is a local monday holiday so it gives us a few nights there.
I have ordered the thickers from QVC a friend sent me the link they look fab.
Have a good night F x

15-04-2008, 10:39 PM
that's interesting Fiona, I didn't know you work(ed)/volunteer for Childline. How did you get into that? A lot of Guiding resources now feature activities about human rights and international issues, and WAGGGS (World Ass. for Girl Guides & Girl Scouts) have just launched a new initiative to support the crack down on people trafficking, so myh workshop was looking into ways GUK coudl support WAGGGS.
Cool buy on the thickers front! They are a good bargain from QVC!
Sarah - well done on the job

Hi Laura yes I was a volunteer supervisor with the Aberdeen base from its opening about 4 years ago. Recently gave up as was unhappy about the way things were going since NSPCC took over. They have decided to dispense with volunteer supervisors and are now not taking on supervisors unless they have a SS qualification or willing to be taken on as staff.Which I didn't want to do. I felt appalled that they were spending doners money unnecessarly when it should be spent on answering more calls. CL was set up to be virtually run by vols where any job preferably would be done by vols.I am sad as I loved it.
If you are interested just contact your local base and you will be invited to a Vols info meeting and if still keen you will be invited for an interview then its a 10 week intensive basic training then ongoing training. I did some fantastic trainings one Called ASSIST a two day training on suicide intervention. worth every moment. You dont have to be involved in CL to do it and I would recomend it to anyone who is involved with young or vulnerable people. Its a canadian initiative and it really works. I believe it is a free training and you should be able to find it on the internet. will have a look if you are interested.
Sorry bit of an epic. F x

Hi Claire
Im sure that yours will be fine I took a look after your posting and decided that mine too was inadequate but then again when I looked carefully at what I had got for them its not at all, its actually quite good in its own right, Ive only decorated a gift bag to put all my bits in and its all wrapped up with little tags with poems on them about whats inside, Im hopig that my swappee likes them all but if not, theres not a lot that I can do now, Ive done my best!
So leave yours as it is it will be fine, and whoever recieves it will be grateful!
Rachel, I really love the journalling book that came in the gogo kit, its lush!
Claire still sorting your stash doesnt look much when its in its pile but definatly does come to more than £5.00, I hope that you like it all, if not throw it back and Ill send something else, will post out first class tomorrow when I go to post my goody bag!

Hi loopies,
I've not had much of a chance to chat over the last few days as I've been busy counting the stock. I'm about half way through now so it doesn't see as bad.
I still haven't take a photo of the weekly challenge but will def. do so soon.
I've signed up for Shimelles CC class, which is to scrap one photo per month for a year I think I can manage that.
Weight Watchers tonight - I hope I've lost so fingers crossed. I let you know later.

Jo - Didn't manage to get a Shimelle kit but I managed to buy one of the MM Calendar books before they went out of stock everywhere! That's what I thought - I can manage a LO a month, and haven't tried any of Shimelle's other classes yet so should be good.
Joanne - looking forward to getting my stash, am sure it will be lovely, you have great taste in stash! You already know what some of the contents of yours will be so hopefully you won't be dissapointed!! And your box sounds lovely, all the little thoughtful poems! x

Had a brill morning today, we have been having issues with Charlottes behaviour with other children since she was about 16 months (she is now 3 1/4) the last two weeks of term her pre school teachers said she was being better, but today was the test of time! We went off to one of those kids ball pond places near where we live and usually Steve and I chase round like blue arsed flies (sorry dont mean to offend anyone!) and today, we sat the whole time on the sofas like normal parents do, never having to follow her round and watch like a hawk! I can believe it, it was sooooo nice sitting drinking cups of tea and chatting like parents do in those places (those of you that have kids know what those places are like, giant mothers meetings!)
I feel human again! please please please let this carry on, I might even gain some sanity if it does!!!!
Sorry Im just sooooo pleased as this has been a real uphill slog for me, I even stopped going to toddler groups and library story times because she was soooo vicious with other children and I got soooo embarrassed, maybe in a few months we can start going again, get her really well settled and I can meet people again!

Joanne, I'm so glad your DD behaviour is improving, what a relief - I totally agree play centre's are mothers meeting areas - they're great if you want a bit of a break sometimes.

Hi,
Joanne-thats good news about your DD, most toddlers go through some awful phase at some point, so lets hope she has now grown out of it, :)
also i'm a bit annoyed as i was meant to get the go2pieces this month and they didn't come :( so have emailed them so we'll see if they have any left now,( but the kit is gorgeous though)
Louise- glad you found your coat :)
Margaret-will send your goodies out tomorrow also, (hope you like!)
i hope everyone does a LO with the goodies they receive, then we can all have a look!
hello to everyone else,

my DD is on work experience this week at 'Ragdale Hall' a health spa near us, so she's really enjoying that, she wants to be a beauty therapist when she leaves school next year.

Jo, I have sent your stash swap today and received yours when I got home. I feel terrible now because mine looks terrible compared to what you have put in! Thanks loads. The only trouble is I really like the papers - which is bad news because that means I will find it really hard to use! Louise - Yours is all packed and ready to go, I will take it to the post office on my lunch break!
Re: Gogo: I didn't get my kit yesterday! It normally comes 2 days after posting...fingers crossed for today. I can't wait to get the little MM notebook, I bought one at Ally Pally, but the coloured one instead of the B&W version, and they are scrummy!
Jo - Well done for WW! We can all keep inspiring each other to keep going! Check out multipack quavers - only 1.5 points! mmmm. so much nicer than special 'low fat' crisps
Joanne - Sounds like you had a relazing time with your DD! Lets hope it continues.
Rach - I hope you get your go2pieces, I think they normally keep a couple spare for problems like this...any news from gogo HQ?
Re: Shimelle: I missed out on the kit too! :( but probably a good thing as I have stash coming out of my ears at the moment! :nono:

But after 21 again and again and again  you tend to forget - oh that sounds as if I am nearly 90 (forgetting)
I have two cards at the moment and a pressie from my sister - O/H and D/S are at work so won't see them until later D/D is just up, she is on school break just now - I have my crop tonight so will be going there (as I have to open the hall) so will probably get taken for dinner over the weekend if I'm lucky

Well... I did the 'Ready Steady Scrap Challenge' !
You know the one where you get a kit in the post and have to make a LO out of it! Well I did that!
Obviously I have no idea if I 'won' or not, they normally have 2 Los and one wins. You don't get an extra prize or anything though. I did get to keep the rest of the kit, they will send my LO back.....oh and I got paid for it!
I can't tell you what the kit was or what the LO is though....you will just have to keep your eyes peeled for my smiling mug in there!
~Rachel~

Cheers! I was actually asked to do it by Shimelle, she sent me an email! I think it was cos I was doing her journal your christmas class, and she saw my LOs on my blog (as you post what you make to her forum, and my photos linked back to my blog) and she got my email address from the blog!
I replied saying "yes please" and the next day my kit arrived!
I think Shimelle and a couple of the SI team do this quite often....they often look through people's gallerys on UKS and PM them asking them to get involved. My friend Leanne (tinkypen) got asked to take part in the sketch challenge this way, she was in the mag a couple of months ago!
clairewill
17-04-2008, 04:04 PM
Yes I think so too, I often have a read of UK Scrapsmack (very amusing if you haven't already seen it!) and that's how people have said that they get selected for SI, and then once your in it's quite easy to get in again. Well you definately deserve it, your LOs deserve to be seen and appreciated by the whole world! xx
Looking forward to seeing what your kit was and what you've done with it. And fingers crossed that you win!
~Rachel~
17-04-2008, 04:13 PM
aah well done Laura, your LO's are certainly worthy of being published, i really love your style! will probably be seeing more of you in there then in the future, & we'll have a famous team member!!! :)
Margaret- stop worrying you silly sausage!! i'm sure i'll love it, i hope you like mine too!!

awww fanks guys! My LO is a little different to what they normally has in as the challenge, but the kit was very difficult to work with! That's all I am saying ...(for now!)
I read the smack blog too, very interesting read most of the time! The girls on there certainly seem to stay on top of what is happening 'in the land of scrap', though they can get very personal. I don't post, but lurking is fun! It seems there are loads of lurkers, 2000 hits a day apparently!

I'm a lurker too, wouldn't dare post for fear of getting shot down! There was a useful thread this week about kit subscriptions. I've been eyeing up the Studio Calico kits ever since!!
I remember the kit in last month's issue of SI was all papermania stuff, was a bit yukky! But I'm know yours will be fab!
Blog header will have to wait until I get home!

Here is the Smack blog (http://www.ukscrapsmack.blogspot.com/)
WARNING: I am posting the link as a favour to all you fruities who have not heard of this blog, I take no responsibility for the content, and must warn you that the subjects on this blog are often offensive and unsmypathic!
I just lurk here.....lurking means that you just read a website, but never contribute to the forums or discussions.
Essentially this blog exsists for people to bitch about scrapping (and very often UKS and the people on here) It is claimed that UKS is too soft and that you can not voice your true opinions....hence the blog. I think that they are quite popular in America.
Keep an open mind, and if you don't like it, then don't go back.
Please don't kick me
L x

Hi girls,
You've been chatty today. Happy Birthday Margaret!
Laura - that's great news about SI. I sometimes provide a kit for it - wouldn't that be fun for you to scrap one of my kits!
I've now up-loaded this Week's Challenge here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157392&nocache=1). Not a great one, I don't really like the aeroplane at the bottom, but I thought it would be fun on a layout about the kids.
I'm still stock-taking :wacko:so I'll let you know when I am ready for you to 'fantasy shop'.

Hi girls,
Happy Birthday Margaret! Hope you've had a lovely day.
I've had heavy meetings all day about this new job role and a new store that is opening near me in November. Its given me a headache so I prob won't be on much this evening. Mind you, my PC is playing up so much I prob couldn't be on all evening even if I wanted to! It just suddenly turns itself off when it feels like it. Very annoying.
I can't get this challenge LO together - i can't find a route of any of my walks - they are all a big secret and you only get a few co-ordinates and clues at a time. I'm useless at free-hand so even if I knew the route I couldn't draw it. (These walks are done at night and over the moors so no hope of remembering!)
Hope you all have a good evening - will try and post a pic of the lovely stash Jo sent me later.
~Rachel~

Happy Birthday Margaret!! Hope you have an lovely evening!
Love the new header Laura - digital scrapping?
I've had a wonderful day at work today - feeling very fulfilled and productive! And then I got home to discover our wedding album had been delivered (do you remember the stress we've had getting them to put everything in in the right order?) except it's exactly the same album as we sent back because it was still not in the right order! They've enclosed a complimentary copy of the photos on cd but no explanation of what's going on!! I'm so annoyed! Andy's taking care of it and I think we may end up taking legal action in the end. I've just had enough - it's ruining my memories of our wedding!
Ok, rant over. Off to check out scrapsmack. Hope it's an inflammatory as you've made it out to be! :D

Sorry to hear about the wedding photos Louise. I've heard so many horror stories about wedding photographers, and I can imagine it does ruin the memories a bit :(
Sorry to hear about the stressful day Sarah - but the new stash must help a bit?! Please show us a photo!
Laura - love the new blog header!
Jo - great LO
Margaret - have you had any birthday treats this evening at your crop?
I've just made a Mediterranean Shepard's pie from scratch (very unlike me), took ages but it was lovely! Quite proud of myself anyway!

Margaret hope you have had a good day/night.

Hope your day has been ok, sorry about the heavy meeting, go have a bath, glass of wine and chill out Sarah!
Laura love the new blog header, wish I knew how to do stuff like that! Congrats on being published, look forward to see what you have done with the kit!
Claire, shepherds pie sounds great, making me feel quite hungry!
Jo, let me know when that virtual shopping si set up, but I also want to go shopping before the cyber crop, need some cardstock for real so dont leave it too long!
Louise, sorry about your photo's, I know what its like, my hubbys mate did the pics for our wedding and he didnt get half the shots I wanted, didnt even get one of me and my dad which I was really annoyed with and to be honest they werent that great either!!! Im sure that it will get sorted eventually, dont let it destroy all your happy memeries they are too precious!

morning all,
Thanks for the blog header compliments, though I must admit that I didn't make it myself! i paid someone in stash to create it for me!!! he he!
I got two kits this morning, so am going to be busy busy busy at my crop tomorrow! I got my gogo kit and my first US kit! Both very different!
Jo - Can't wait to fantasy shop, I quite often window shop at sponsors, add loads of stuff to my cart and then get too guilty and leave without buying anything! I think the kit I had from SI was from Jillybeans this time, how often do you provide a kit for them then?
Lou - I am sorry to hear about photogate, I hope you get it sorted! Maybe your fruitloop stash swap will cheer you up today!
Margaret - Did you have a good crop? scrap much?
I am off in meetings all morning, so back online later!
See you later alligator! x x

Morning everyone, i got a bit of the weekly challenge done last night, but was late back from brownies with a grumpy ds and then put him to bed, watched army wives and a bit of new builds from hell...and then went to bed, hope to get it finished tonight or tomorrow. Need to get my camera back from my mum so i will be able to upload pics. I find its easier for me to upload every LO to the gallery then i can keep up with the points easier...i am easy to confuse.
Laura which is your US kit...is it the one you showed us a link to a while ago?
as for the window shopping - i am always adding things to a cart and then deciding 'no, i dont NEED it right now'

Hurrah it's Friday!! Anyone up to anything exciting at the weekend. I think the only plan so far with me is a haircut tomorrow (only a trim!!).
My MM Calendar turned up yesterday, although they said it was 15" by 7" it looks huge!! Can't wait to see what Shimelle has planned for it!
Had a bit of money to burn from selling a Cricut Cartridge so have bought myself a US kit from Story of My Own. Looked at loads of US kits (was tempted by something really funky but my scrapbooking skills aren't quite ready yet!) before deciding on their March one, it's full of the new Sassafrass and a gorgeous set of stamps to match! Hope it doesn't take too long to arrive!
Started on my CC mystery kit LO last night too. Once I got going it seems to be going ok, although I haven't decided on the photo or title yet, just been cutting the papers and ribbons up!

18-04-2008, 01:09 PM
Yep will show you all a picture when it arrives, but there's a detailed list on their website I think. And it was about £27 with postage, which is not too bad. You don't seem to get masses of stuff in the kit because of the stamps, but enought to make a few good LOs I should think! Deers are very fashionable at the moment, are owls on their way out?!! Laura - looking forward to seeing what you do with your sweet spuds kit, was it the one with apples in, or am I thinking of something else? I don't think i'd have enough cool photos to go with funky kits like that!
Rachel - no idea about the cutting and pasting sorry, don't know why that wouldn't work! And yes I agree about the Fruitloops logo - will speak to OH tonight to see if he knows how to do new flashing logos and i'll have a play.
Margaret - hope you are enjoying the new camera! What a lovely present!!
Joanne - did your new stash turn up? x
~Rachel~
18-04-2008, 01:21 PM
Laura- if it doesn't cost any extra then recorded is fine, if it does don't bother :)
Claire- look forward to seeing what you OH can come up with re the logo,
Margaret-enjoy your camera, hopefully i'll have mine next week!?
Louise- hope you get your wedding pics sorted soon :)

ooh, i like that, helen! the colour's great.
laura - love that kit. the colours are so bright - i think something in the stash swap will go quite nicely with them!! hubby's popping it in the post at lunchtime today.
no plans for the weekend yet - gonna play with my gogo kit i think. talked hubby into going to asda last night (9pm) to buy glue when i realised i had nothing to stick with!! printed some photos too so plenty to get on with! might have to start with a scraplift or a gallery trawl though - severely lacking in inspiration. all the kit is so lovely, i really want to use it but i also really want to do it justice!
doing baby checks at work today - good excuse to cuddle perfectly normal babies (you have to comfort them after you make them cry!!) :D

Hmm not sure i'd like that Louise, i would be scared the babies would be sick on me! And I don't have the slightest bit of maternal instinct!
I always have a look at the LO sketch sites when I need some inspiration if that helps you?
Helen - like the colour of that signature, is that a Disney font?
helen_a78

Hi girls,
I've been busy again today but the stock take is nearly finished - I have counted every single piece of cardstock and paper and all the embellishments - I think I need a holiday!
Laura, I do the SI kit a few times a year and I've got some stash coming up in the May and June issues.
I finally got around to ordering my American Crafts Albums and they arrived today, so I've had a play, although I haven't put any layouts in yet. I've also received my MM Calendar for the Shimelle class.
Sarah - Wow! Thanks for the stash, I love it all! Especially that cute butterfly - it's too gorgeous to use, so I'll save it for a special layout. I'll try and take a photo of it all over the weekend.
Back later.
Jo

Lou - has my swap parcel reached you yet? Can't wait to see piccies of everyone elses!
Rach - I sent your G2P first class today. p.s. thanks for the blog comment!
Re this weekend: I have a dinner date tonight. OH and a few friends, we are going for noodles and wine! yay! Then scrapping tomorrow. (after I have taken OH to the airport for 7.15am! yikes!) So will have the house to myself until sunday night so I can revise in peace!
He is not going away just so I can revise! He is off on a stupid boy trip to watch football!

Laura, I bought 2 12 x 12 Albums, one black and one blue and some 8.5 x 11 page protectors to use in them as well. I'm going to try and sort out some layouts tonight as I have all my scrapping from 2008 (that's 57 layouts) to file away.
My mum is visiting for a few days so tomorrow night OH and I will go out for a meal, I can't remember the last time we went out together on a date! :D Then Sunday morning I have to take DD2 to a kids party at a play centre then will chill out on Sunday afternoon and evening. I don't know if scrapping will be involved but I hope so. I am determined to get my Disney photos from last year scrapped. In between times, I'll be on the web-site and UKS.
Do you think we should set a deadline for scrapping something with our swapped stash? Its the CC next weekend, so I was thinking of say by the end of April - what do you think?
Jo

hi guys
jo-end of april sounds good to me, hope you enjoy your 'date' :)
i had a little red card waiting for me so it could be Margarets stash, or something i bought from marketplace:ph34r: or something else that i may have forgotten about! will have to remember to get to the sorting office early as it shuts early on a saturday.
i have nothing special planned this weekend, just chill & lots of sleep, hopefully as i'm so tired,
Laura-enjoy your peace & quiet this weekend!
i did a LO last night from the gogo kit, not that happy with it, especially as it started out as a 12x12, but i cocked it up & had to trim it down!
its here anyway if you want to look!

Great LO Rachel! I have 2 sheets of that weird 'graph paper' acrylic, one in black and one in pink and I've never known what to do with it but you've shown me it can be used with great success! Thanks.
I'm glad your stash arrived safely Jo.
All this talk of kits arriving is making me wanna order some! However fate is intervening - my pc is still shutting down whenever it feels like it and usually as I click onto a sponsors link! Hopefully in about 6 weeks my promotion will have gone through and I'll be able to stop stash dieting!
I'm desperate for some decent sized alphabets - ideally i would love either a cricut or craft robo but that'll have to wait a while! Do any of you have either of these? I'm saving my pennies and will have to start thinking about which I want so i know how much to save. Robo sounds great as you don't have to buy additional carts, but seems a bit tempramental! Might have to look at some sizzix alphabet sets in the mean time! The ellison site has some discontinued sets cheap.
I'm off work this weekend, woohoo! Its very unexpected but I'm not complaining! Hope to get some scrapping done as I haven't done anything this week!
*Laura*

louise - you are more than welcome! I am glad you like the sharpie! They write on anything!!! re. the baby thing, I totally know what you mean...I get mega broody at times, think it's as i'm at premium baby making age!!! But it's not a good time right now, I have to agree with your DH about saving some money!
Sarah - you should defo try some kits, I love them! get a couple of different ones to see what you like. I would recommend scrapagogo as a good place to start! Also have you seen the post on general scrappintg about 'sir cuts a lot' its a software programme for the cricut so it can cut any font like the robo!!! that would be my choice!!! or...have you thought about getting some alpha stamps???
Jo - you should get some six x 12 PP too, they look fab in the AC albums
Right friends are about to turn up, so I'm off out for noodles and wine, I'll be back tomorrow night with some LOs to share!!!

Sarah - i've got a Cricut so can (try to) answer any questions if you have them. Haven't tried the software yet, waiting for OH to put together our old PC for my craft room then can have it on permanently! You could always pick up a sizzix or a cuttlebug fairly cheaply to cut some alphas for the time being though? Or buy some stamp sets?
Completely stuck on a musical themed photo to use on my mystery kit LO. Have done it completely in the wrong order - LO first, photo second!! Need to scour some song lyric websites to see if anything fits!

Great LO Louise. I haven't looked at any of the classes on here. I like the challenges but thats as far as I've been. The photography forum has some great links to tutorials for my new camera but apart from here thats all I generally read. This place is so huge it's still a bit overwhelming - and hard to jump into threads when everyone knows each other already! I feel blessed to have found you gals who have all made me feel welcome.

i still haven't found everything on here - the girls were talking about the marketplace earlier this week and i didn't even know it existed!
shimelle (http://www.shimelle.com) is well worth checking out though - she does a christmas journal project/class every year which is how i found her. she runs other things through the year as well - at the moment there's a project/class about homes and in february she did a free journalling class with a different prompt each day.
one thing i do like about uks is the font of the week - been downloading nice fonts all morning!

Morning everyone! Sarah - would be great if you could make it! I know it's a bit far for most people, but ideal because of your sister. They are a new organisation, this will be their first event which is probably why there aren't many details on the website yet.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my gallery (i nearly didn't upload it as i wasn't very happy with it!)

It was a mystery kit and i'm don't think we're allowed to say the contents on here (but they were posted on Scrapsmack!). It's a purple/green theme (hmmmm), and the LO has to be a musical theme for our CC team. I'm using a song title from a musical film.

ok....that's fine....I have no idea what a mystery kit is though....does everyone buy one and then make a LO for the cybercrop? Is that the general idea?
clairewill
19-04-2008, 09:50 PM
One sponsor for each team was selling a mystery kit so, apart from the colour and theme, we didn't know what would be in it. There a section in the gallery to upload to, but the entries are invisible until they are revealed at the start of the CC and I think you can then vote for a winner ( pick me!!). The kits are sold out but there's a non-kit version of the challenge too.
Probably wouldn't bother buying one next time though, not really worth £10!
Phew, need a cup of tea now!

The bind-it-all is on special at the mo for £45, does that sound special? Not that I need one of course but i love a bargain, esp if a scrappy bargain!
I think I've just about given up on the mystery kit - I look at it in dispair! The only photo's that might be slightly musical is some of my sister and I line dancing - do you think that would count?
I have uploaded another LO tonight - made from some of the bits Jo sent me. You can see it here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157665&cat=500). Just starting another with the great mini gift bags too! (I'm a busy bee tonight!)

Sarah - Who did you order your prints from? I normally use photobox. But if you get good service from somewhere else I could be tempted! I am glad you had fun sorting your albums! I sooo need to do that too! I had a big sort out a little while away and put all my LOs into about 4 AC D ring albums, they were all (roughly) chronological, but then as I started making more I have just been adding them to an album in the order I have scrapped them, so need to slot them into the correct album.
I have run out of album room, so really need another couple of AC albums, I quite fancy the new corduroy (sp) ones!
Louise - I do love the animal stickers, and wil try to use them soon to show you!
Right I need to do some revising today...but no doubt I will be popping on and off!

Morning all, finally got it cutting at about midnight last night, but so pleased! It's not just fonts, I think it will do pretty much anything if I can find the dingbat font, like swirls and disney characters and leaves! Hurrah!!!
Would spend all day playing but OH has invited some friends round for a roast dinner (which I'll probably have to cook most of!)
Forgot to tell you all about this (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157546&cat=500&ppuser=34979) LO which I uploaded yesterday. It was for the Scrummy Stash Cafe blog challenge!

I had my Cricut (it's only the baby one) as a hand me down christmas present from my Auntie who bought the Expression - I was very lucky! I think second hand baby ones are around £130, my mum wants to upgrade to an Expression soon too so I was checking out the second hand prices for her!
The cartridges can be quite expensive though, and I think I will still need the ones i've got, becuase the software doesn't cut anything complicated from what I can tell, and wouldn't be any good if I was in a hurry!
Still in my pajamas at the moment, have sent OH to the supermarket so that's not too bad!

so do you find the cricut small one ok for cutting titles, can you get them big enough...and one more question if you dont mind, do you waste a lot of paper??
thank you
clairewill
20-04-2008, 12:25 PM
Yep it's great for titles - look in my gallery, most of them are done like that!
You waste paper sometimes, especially when you first start, but it's not too bad. I've got quite clever at cuttting from the tiniest scraps! And with this software, you can see where things are on the cutting mat so you can arrange it where you need to.
Right, should go and have a shower and get dressed!

Ouch Rachel, poor you :( I know it hurts, I fall down the stairs on my behind quite often (I have really awful balance and spacial awareness!!!). Never with a cup of coffee though :(
I hadn't planned on that being our new logo, I just couldn't think of anything else to test it out with!

awww! Rachel - hope you're feeling better! Use your recovery time to have a good 'browse' of some sponsor sites or do a LO or two!
I have just got back from walking/shopping with the angels - they cost me a fortune! I can't believe the craft shop was closed - they've always opened sundays before! Couldn't buy anything interesting for me (I did get a bread bin and new bathroom scales but i don't call that interesting!) But, the good news is I'm going hunting on the sponsor sites. A cheque i had completely forgotten about is sat in my bank account just dying to be spent!
Trouble is there are so many I don't know where to start - its a real shame yours is down at the mo Jo. But the drought is coming to end now and I have a promotional pay rise coming soon! woohoo!!!

thanks girls, it would have been quite funny if it wasn't for the almighty mess i made! & the painful bum! i was all alone in the house when it happened so at least no-one could laugh at me!! but my DD did when she came home! (charming!)

I have also been shopping - got a mini kit and a doodlebug kit on the way from Cleo's, and some BG chipboard flourishes and a Grayson hall (college press I think) stack kit from scrummy stash cafe. Could have kept going and going....

Can I ask do you all shop on line for your stash or go to craft shops - is there loads of craft shops near to you.
I have only bought off line once for the bloom swap I was in, but when I see all the lovely papers everyone has curiosity has go the better of me
My nearest craft shop is 17 miles away and they tend to stock mostly docraft products

Hi Margaret
I online shop most of the time! Ive 2 shops near me, one that only stocks docrafts products which I am not into any more! and the other which carries the same/similar lines since i started crafting 5 years ago!
I have a few sites that I use quite a lot and some run loyalty programmes where you claim points for amounts you spend, so its a way of getting free stash eventually! Jo has some yummy lines and her service is fab! Speaking from experience of course!
I also post on here if I want something in particular so I can get the best deals from sponsers!
*Laura*
20-04-2008, 08:42 PM
I agree with Jo, I tend to stick to the same few UKs sponsors who have a wide range of stock, good P&P and good customer service. I have my favs!
I have also used a site in the US that was good, I have occassionally bought off ebay too!
I don't tend to randomly buy stash that often though, as you may have used I rely on my kits for general stash and then shop online if I am after something specific. Then I can 'top up' IRL at craft shows (like Ally Pally) or occassionally me and my friends will do a day out to a sponsors shop and make a day of it!
So basically I hardly ever just shop online for generic stash, I have to know what I want! Otherwise I would be there all day and its too hard to tell what stuff looks like online and I have had some accidents where somehting looks great online but is not what I expected when I got it home!
I love my kits though, more often than not the surprise element works for me! Though having said that I have offically left scrapagogo, I am getting the may kit but that will be my last. Going to try out some other kits for a bit of variety!
