Thanks a lot flower. Choccie bisca are very nice. Think I have over stretched myself this month, what with the ATC swaps and the Oscars stuff. Got really stressed over the oscars card swap last night and had to remind myself that this is meant to be fun.
A wee question maybe we could talk about. I received my April ATC swap. I appreciate that everyone has different abilities and tastes, but this ATC, no matter how hard I look, is a picture printed from a computer with NOTHING at all added. No glitter, sequins, rub ons, even handwriting or anything. Should I do anything about telling the swapee she hasn't maybe got the jist of ATCs or should I keep quiet????

Hmmm thats a difficult one Audrey.
I have to be honest I am not completely sure that I know what a ATC is!!!? Did you do the swap through UKS?

Oh and Re: Oscar stress! - I thought the same to myself this morning. I am entering a comp on another site. This morning I stabbed myself with my craft knife (by accident of course!) and then got so stressed because I had got blood on my LO! Once I had calmed myself abit I had to laugh - This is my hobby not my life!
I'm so pleased I have found the online crafting community and it is sooo motivating and inspiring seeing other peoples work and the comps. But I think it really is important to take a step back and remember that it is a hobby....but that is easier said than done when it's sooo addictive isn't it! I've got to admit I have signed up to the CC and then shyed away from it because I just don't think it is a good idea for me. It'll be all scrap and no revision!! (as if it isn't already!)
RachaelK
12-04-2008, 09:20 PM
Woohoo - our own Thread!!!
Audrey, I can appreciate your dilemma. If the person has really tried - you don't want to put them off - but maybe they need a bit of guidance? Could you send them a PM, with maybe some suggestions of how they could improve their ATC? Perhaps - something like " I like the picture on your ATC, have you considered adding some sequins or doodling" ... or whatever! (can you tell I don't really know what ATCs are as well!)
I am actually really looking forward to the Cyber Crop. I am going to have a go at at least a couple of the classes - but I will probably do them a bit too slowly to keep up with the Forum - so I am just going to have some fun and try some new things!
Daisy - which Cyber Crop kit did you get? Are you pleased with it? I am considering getting one of the Bubbly Funk ones, as I rarely use chipboard and so would quite like some tips on using it a bit more.
Speak to you all soon

I'm so pleased I have found the online crafting community and it is sooo motivating and inspiring seeing other peoples work and the comps. But I think it really is important to take a step back and remember that it is a hobby....
well said terrie!
i've taken a bit of time away from the cybercrop it was becoming too consuming i was thinking i haven't done that challenge yet or that one and like someone else said it's supposed to be fun.
i also used to compare my work to other peoples thinking mine wasn't as good,i don't any more there is no right way or wrong way to scrapping it's personal and individual to that person, i scrap for me. OOOOO I'M GETTING TOO DEEP.
AUDREY that is a difficult one isn't it because i personally don't think shes grasped the idea of what an ACT is, but would she be offended if you say anything? perhaps someone else who recieved one might say something.
RACHEL, of course you can use the cat snoring idea

How exciting, our own place!! It's like being a student again! Moving in with strangers and worrying about deadlines! Like you say, it is just a hobby.
Rachael - I got the pink and green kit. It was £7.50 and has 2 plain cardstock, 4 patterned card weight sheets (My Mind's Eye), a sheet of tags, labels and borders, sticker alphas, buttons and ribbon. They are lovely colours (I've got 2 girls so I use pinks a lot) and designs but I don't imagine there's a big saving re: price. I've not bought this type of thing before so I don't really know what to expect. Also, the ribbon included is red gingham which doesn't really match - I'm sure if I'm creative I'll be able to utilise it - watch this space!

p.s. still not started my challenge page yet!

Hello room mates a home at last. Let the fun commence !! I have decided not to have a biscuit after last weeks mishap. I was contemplating my LO wondering if it needed a little something else when the biscuit I had been dunking splat on the page, enter 1 flower.
I have just got back from watching 3 jungle puppet shows put on by a bunch of brownies, OOOh sooooo sweet.
Now I am going to finish a LO that I started last night. I may even be brave to put it in the gallery, if I am brave enough.
Hope you are all having a good weekend up till now.

Hi Scrappy Doodles!!
How exciting to have our own house now!!!!:)
The knit and stitch show was great today - got the bind it all machine for the crop to use, looking forward to having a play with it! Confessed to my dh that I have an addiction to papers - have enough to open a shop but still brought more home!! Fell in love with My Minds eye papers and Making Memories - Noteworthy.
Have been pretty busy lately but am determined to do some serious scrapbooking this week - and that's a promise!!

Well good evening all!
Just a quick note to say thanks for letting me join the team. I have been out most of the day. We took our 3 bowling and then on to Pizza Hut which wasn't quite in keeping with the Paul McKenna CD I have been listening to and trying to follow!
Also, just tried uploading the doodle logo and wanted to check it worked, so I will sign off and have a quick look.
No scrap pages this weekend I'm afraid, I have to make 50 short notice 21st Birthday invitations for someone in work by monday. Plus a leaving card for a Doctor posted abroad and a thankyou and a birthday card!

Have tried to save the scrappy doodles logo but it keeps coming up with page not available, so will ask dh if he can hover tomorrow to see if I am doing it right.
Quite pleased with the lo I have nearly finished want to put on a title but dont know what colour as I made the back ground to look like a patchwork quilt and think black may be to heavy.

Hi folk - thanks for your comments on my LOs, please don't be afraid to post your own, I love to see what everyone is up to. We all have different styles as I found at the crops I go to and it is great to share LOs to get inspiration easpecially when your brain is just completely blank on where to start with a LO as mine is most times I flick through the photos and just can't get going.
I went to a 50th birthday party this afternoon, it was great to catch up with some only friends, and I've got 4 friends coming over for a cricut swarm tomorrow - or is it today now!
Big waves to Josie - great to be on a team with you again!
I must get some more scrapping done as I came back from holiday last week with 2500 photos, although probably about 1000 are of penguins. I'm still scrapping photos from 2005 holidays so not sure when/if I'll every catch up!

Michelle the 'scrappy doodles' signiture is fab fab fab!! I love it! Did you make it yourself?

Chief- Your very very welcome to our team :) We're all new to this so jump right in! Your cards are lovely!
Right I have another LO to upload this morning :) Then I am going to be good and do some revision (she say's..!) You all will have noticed that I never stay away for too long ;) So I will catch you later! :D

Hi everyone,
Fran - I had trouble with the signature too. I am just trying it out now to see if it works - and if it does, I will let you know what I did!
RachaelK
13-04-2008, 10:54 AM
Woohoo!! It worked!
Fran - the problem I had was I selected "Save Picture As" and it saved it as a Bitmap. If you do "Save Target As" it saves it as a GIF and it seems to like that better. HTH.
I also have a tip (with thanks to my adoptive mummy!) that most of you probably already know - but just in case:
If you go into the "Search" option and select "Advanced Search", you can do a search on all threads that you have posted in. This might prove useful with this Team Thread as it looks like things move quite fast, and it might sometimes be difficult to find our thread amongst all of the others.
Off to West Quay in Southampton now to do some shopping - hope you all have a good day.

Morning all!
Well we seem to be getting the hang of the signature thingy. I have changed my avatar too. The old one was linked to the name of my old team and I wanted something new. This pic reminds me of a wonderful trip to Fountains Abbey and I had my new camera to play with. I must do a scrap page of it sometime.
Hi Wendy, it's nice to see you around again.:D
Well I have done most of the work for the invitations. I sat with a lap tray watching a film last night and stuck the tags together and threaded all the fibres. (just need to hoover the floor where I was sitting now:rolleyes:)
Just need to assemble them all.
The sun is shining at the moment so I won't stay on for long as I want to get the next load of washing out on the line.
Must scroll through the names and work out all of our first names. I will have to print a list and stick to my screen as I am terrible with names. I used to be so good but 3 kids later and my brain just does not quite work the same these days.

josie your cards are lovely have you got a sizzix or something for the tags and glasses?
messy where did you go on holls?
chief501
13-04-2008, 01:54 PM
Thanks for the comments on my card design, yes the tag and the glasses are sissix. I must admit I am not tempted by the new printer/cutters robo things. Me and my sissix are best pals. I love it as I can cut through funky foam, mount board, wood veneer and even make my own chipboard shapes. I must upload some new piccies of my latest coaster fridge magnets. The one in my album is so basic and I love them. I sell them at work.
I have a massive(obsessive) range of sissix dies so if anyone needs any I'll be happy to swap some stuff. I have a shadow box alphabet with numbers (see my mum card in my album). I have a whole range of tags, mini tags, ribbon slides, frame mounts, the bitty body and outfits, , cross, teddy bear, golf bags, plane, car, boat, trees, leaves, hearts, stars etc etc etc.....
I did say it was obsessive! If you want some die cuts please just pm me and I will sort some out.
Just got my washing before the rain set in! Now the sun is out again. typical..

13-04-2008, 02:16 PM
JOSIE-i must admit i did splurge out on a craftrobo:nono: mainly because of the fact i can cut basicly any font for titles and so on so i would save in the long run(trying to justify spending):P i do love it not as quick as a sizzix though. i do like the sizzix bitty body and outfits so cute.
i'd give up on drying the washing outside i think it's april showers all day:wacko:
WENDY - i hope you don't mind but i copied the way you lay your monthly points out under your sig , i like the way you did it, it's really clear.

Hi Everyone,
Michelle - your instuctions for the Signature were fine - it is my (lack of) techinical ability that was the problem! The silly thing is I did exactly the same thing when I put in the Cyber Crop avatar - so you would think I would have learnt!
Regarding die-cutters, I have just ordered a Tag-a-long from the Ellison sale to see how I get on with it. I am really tempted by the Big Shot - but I am just not sure how much I will use it. The Tag-a-long was only £8(ish) in the Ellison sale, so I thought I would give it a try.
Speak to you all soon.
Rachael

Thanks Michelle and Rach for sorting me out with the signature thing. I was having a dippy moment also think it must have been really busy last night.
I was forced to give up on the washing as my line snapped and dragged the washing across the newly cut grass. mutter mutter.
I love my sizzix machine 2. But I was lucky to have a cricut bought for me for my birthday/Christmas and think its nifty for doing titles. My friend has one as well so we share cartridges she has a lovely one that cuts animals.
I bought a lovely cartridge from ebay cos it was cheap but it's not working properly and the seller left false detail so no cumback.
Wendy 2500 photos thats going to be a huge number of LOs thats the joy of a digital camera.
Bye for now

Esther - CC, many people click by mistake thinking it will give info rather than register, I think last year only about 75% of people registered took part. There is no problem if you just don't take part, and you don't need to tell/ask anyone so don't worry about it.
You might want to have a look at some of the classes afterwards though (you don't have to register) as they are a good source of inspiration. I'm still doing some of last years classes!

Wendy - just been having a good laugh with my children at your hamster driving the animal hospital ambulance ... it's the kind of thing that appeals to us! The LO is lovely.
By the way gang, I thought it was about time I started using my actual name and not my cat's name!! I'm Julie but struggled finding a user name!
May have a go at uploading a few more LOs now that I've taken the plunge.
How do I go about showing points and what do all the bits mean in your blue line?
Julie x
messydesk
13-04-2008, 07:33 PM
To show points you just go into User CP and then signature, just type in any info you want in your sig line here. I'm sure someone can give better instructions about fonts, colours etc.
The info in my blue line - April points, are the points I have accumulated this month by completing LOs. DLO mean double LO (a double page spread), SLO - single page LO wk1() mean the points I got for the week 1 challenge, in this case I didn't do it so no points, etc. It is an easy way of our team leader seeing what points I have amassed this month if I'm not around to email the points to her at the end of the month.

My rabbit is on her cushion snoring - looks good to me. I am a bit worried about the CC being fast but I will just do what I enjoy. I will get the signature sorted soon - honest. Just not in a techy mood as visiting my mum today who has had a stroke. Knacked lifting her up and down !
I am also doing a lot of enveloping up tonight of Circle Journals and stuff for the Oscars. I love what I have done and hope the recipients love them too. I will upload some photos at some point this week.
A wee bit of info re ATC. ATC is an artist trading card. It is the same size as a playing card (2.5 inches by 3.5 inches) and think of it as a mini scrapbook page without the pics. I have some pics of mine which I will post at some point this week. Will let you know when I have uploaded them.
Back to the bunny and the envelopes and the rest of DH chocolate birthday cakes from yesterday - who said I chose the Marks one because I liked it !!!!!!

Michelle Think you are so luck to have a cat, we lost ours about 3 years ago and she is missed dreadfully, :( well by me and DD, DH not really a pet person to tolerated the cats and the guinea pigs when DD was younger we only have 3 fish now Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Looks like its just me now to try and put up my layout. May give it a go tomorrow when I have time to Faff.:P

More than happy for folks to copy my way of recording points if it helps.
I've had a great day scrapping with 3 friends - we planned to just take over the dining room, but quickly spread to the conservatory, living room and eventually the kitchen as we did different bits of scrapping. I love the big crops I go to, but a small get-together was even more fun.
I completed this weeks challenge - first challenge LO in ages.
All the fun of the fair (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157002&cat=500&ppuser=23061)- 30 points

Morning all :D
Have a great day Rachael - where is Birdworld? I've never heard of it. :)
Fran - I get page not found all the time on this site. I'm sure it's just because it's a busy site. Infact I don't think I have ever been on a site quite so busy! As Michelle said though you do need to resize before you can post. If you haven't got any software at home to resize, there are dozens on line. Photobucket is another one. Can't wait to see it!
Michelle - My friends don't seem to understand my paper obsession either! :( My mum thinks I'm bonkers spending the amount I do on buttons and beads and paper and ribbon and.....err we'll leave it there I think!
Wendy - Your LO's are gorgeous!!
Esther - I have registered for CC but don't intend on joining in I don't think (If I can resist!) I am going to keep an eye on things and see how it runs though. So I am more prepared for next time! :D
Audrey - Thanks for the info on ATC's. Now I know what you are talking about! I have seen them all over the place - Just didn't know what they were called
I'm sure there is a thread about all the challenges - To those that have already been in a team - How do the house challenges work? I know we are in the Gold eyelets so do we just complete the task the same as the team one?
It's a great idea how you guys have done your points. I think I am going to have to copy when I get a mo ;)
Right off to hop the gallerys and then do some work. Have a great day guys! :D

Good morning,:)
Racheal - where is bird world then, it sounds a good place to visit. I miss not having any children to take to places like that I know I could go with a friend but not the same.
Audrey - A house rabbit how sweet just love the idea of that, boring fish arnt the same.
I put my name down last night to be adopted, so hopefully I will soon be brought up to speed.
I am going to have a quick look now at photo bucket to see if I can shrink my photo. Then have to get ready for my mentor coming to see me (yawn yawn) would rather be scrappin and just to think only this week left of the school hols role on half term yea !

Hi everyone,
Just got back from Birdworld (which is in Farnham which is on the Hampshire/Surrey border). It is a brilliant day out, particularly if you have small children. I went with a friend who has a DD the same age as mine - and the 2 girls had a fabulous time. Strangely they weren't really interested in the birds at all (apart from the flamingos - because they are pink ) My DD got so muddy running about and playing on all the park things and doing all the nature trails that we got through 3 changes of trousers and socks!
Remembered to take my camera - so I have taken loads of photos - although most of them were in the pouring rain!
Anyway, I hope all the rest of you had a good day.

Rachael - so glad you had a good day out shame about the rain but at least it sounds as if your DD had fun 3 chages of clothes I remember those days well !
Put my photo of LO into photoshop elements to resize it and saved as a Jpg but its still not small enough. Have emailed a friend for help.

Hedgie - I use PSE too, what I do for my gallery LOs is crop to 8" x8" at the standard resolution. Then when you save the file, slide the size along to 0 and save. This will give an image well below that allowed in the gallery and will allow you to have lots of images (I usually get over 50 in my gallery before I have to start deleting).
Hope this helps - let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

I'm pleased you had a good day Rachael :) It's been bizarre weather here. One minute beautiful sunshine and the next chucking it down.
Fran - It took me a while to get the hang of it! You'll get there, I can't wait to see your LO :)
I spent MORE money on stash today. Me thinks it's time for a stash ban! ;) I just can't resist the papers...they call to me! :D But hey, I got a map for the new team challenge (my justification!)...just got to think exactly how I am going to do the LO now!

Thanks for the advice for skinnying my photos. I saw a thread that said about downloading a pixresixer so I have but still to large can't think what I am doing wrong here. May have a go with PSE and see what happens its quite frustrating.
When I have done that I hope to get on to Ordenance Survey and download a bit of a map. (I know how to do that lol)

HI all :D
Just trying to catch up all I've missed! Will never do it lol - so thought I'd jump in here.
Got back a day early from my little trip away, think may have just grown apart from a previously close friend - sigh. Oh well, the children had a fab time and I now have SO MANY more photos to scrap!
During all the travelling time I planned out a few LOs with some of the photos I took and can't wait to start them. Am feeling really quite tired now so won't start now as I think I'd make too many mistakes! Will upload the photos though and order some prints as have run out of photo paper!
Been looking at all the recent pics- you're all fabulous!
Do we just do the house challenge? And then we can use the points for the team challenge?
Has anyone had a go at the new challenge this week? i might have a try (need to actually go see what it is first however, as when I logged in it brought me straight to the forums!!).
I'll have a browse now and see what's been happening! :) My scrapping order should arrive in the morning too - can't wait!

Hedgie
14-04-2008, 11:52 PM
Oh it took a while I drew them out first using the small shape in my late nans templates then had to cut them out with scissors. I use to help her when I was about 11. cutting out brown paper first then the material. We use to go to jumble sales and buy the old cotton bits and was um then turn them into quilts which my nan gave away for charitys to raffle, and she did it all whilst suffering with arthritis in her hands. Amazing.
Glad you like it. I was quite pleased.
Tomorrow I am going rouond a friends to scrap. Hoping to do the latest challenge.

Evening all,
Wow, you have all been busy since I last logged on. Just a quick note to say hello and keep up the hard work. I will be back and chatting again soon and I will have to look in the galleries to see what you've all been up to. Was up 'til 1am making the invitations and my Dad is visiting tonight so just catching up. Also I got a few more card orders today so a bit tied up. Looking forward to having a look at this weeks challenge though as I am determined to scrap a page (at least) this week.

Hi everyone,
I am not sure about the points thing either. For instance - if you do a weekly challenge, can you count it as a Single Layout as well and claim 40 points, or do you only count it once and get the 30 points?
I don't know if any of you have had a look at the Classes section on the Cyber Crop Forum - but there is a Shimelle class about scrapping you day - which will run every month! This sounds like a lot of fun to me.
Anyway,

Hi all :)
lovely to see everyone so happy :) I will have to have a look at Shimelle's class - sounds good.
If you would like, I could be the host for the circle journal? If you want to take part, perhaps you could PM me your name, address, email addy so that we don't post any personal details on here and a thought as to what you would like your CJ to be on. If all 10 of us take part, it'll take about 10 months for the CJs to do the full circle and end up back with the owner, but you will have at least a month to complete each LO for the CJ. I will also email full details and links about what you do etc if you need it too.

Points
For a weekly challenge you get 30 points (if you do everything in the challenge) plus the 10 or 20 points for a single/double LO.
The house challenge has only the 10/20 for the single/double LO.
The cyber crop gets complicated, but they always publish soon afterwards a list of what every challenge/class/swap etc is worth. It should be out in plenty of time to get our points sorted at the end of the month.
I'm up for the CJ if someone is able to host.

Evening, well the kids are in bed and I have a lovely cuppa. I am off to bed soon as I am shattered. I finished the 50 Birthday party invitations and they loved them so that was good. Also finished some of the ordered cards too! My Dad (Step-Dad) and I stayed up nattering until 0030am which was silly on top of Sundays late night, particularly as I get up at 0530hrs. What didn't help was I ended up getting up at 0300hrs to take a hayfever tablet!
I can identify with growing apart from friends, in the armed forces when you get posted, you promise to keep in touch but end up drifting apart with many people. Thats why we have put down roots and bought our own house, my husband was bought up travelling where his Dad went but has only one really close friend, I wanted our three to make friends for more than a couple of years at a time and I want to make friends locally.
Still, got lots of friends on UKS, which is great:D

Thanks for the reassurance with the growing apart with friends - some I know I won't and many more have gone by the wayside - guess we all change over time.
Still not started any scrapping, not ffeeling too good so think I'll get an early night and get everything out in the morning when the kids are just in their early morning, not quite awake state!!

Your cat and my daughter would make a great pair Rachael! I can hear her now - she sounds like an old man!! She snores at the best of times but she has a cold at the moment so it's extra loud tonight! - Hope your not coming down with it Shelley!

I love the snoring cat idea on a LO Racheal with the sound too! Have seen the mini recorders somewhere too I think Artbase sell them, not sure how much though.
Shelley, I too love that early morning at the weekend, it's when I get most done whilst the kids are coming to. The great thing about getting up so early all week is I am quite often up before anyone else and get to do what I want for an hour or so, even if it is just a cup of tea in peace. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I'm off to bed now as I need to catch up with my sleep, still have a busy week ahead. Will carry on working throught the galleries over the next few days looking at everyones work! Some great stuff so far, just have to remember where I left off.

Has anyone had a go at this week's challenge yet? I am going to try and do it over the next couple of evenings - but it looks more challenging than the last one.
Thanks for the clarification over the points Wendy, I don't know if I will actually do anything for the Cyber Crop, but if I do, I will probably come back to you for more clarification.
Michelle, I would like to put my name down as definite for the CJ - and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Are you going to do a LO of your kitchen? I would love to see your hard work! I keep looking at your LO of the cat snoring - it makes me laugh so much!

Rachael - I am going to have a go at the challenge this week - I will try to incorporate it into a LO I want to do anyway, but it is a little more challenging than last week. Will upload my efforts later!
Esther - don't worry about your LOs - I have only a couple of my LOs uploaded because I feel slightly less artistic etc than others, but then I remember that my kids and everyone who looks at my albums won't be thinking - hey, that's nice, but I know xxxxxx did a better version!! :) They will be so thrilled to read about your experiences and showing that you care that they will admire your fabulous work, whatever you think of it!

Hi Everyone,
Just back from our lovely day out at Asda! There was virtually no-one there so it was like having your own personal shopper. Shop assistants kept coming up and offering us free tasters of things - so we shan't need any tea tonight! (well, stuffing ourselves silly in the cafe may also help with that...)
Shelley - I have just had a look at your LO. I think it is lovely - and such a nice idea for a LO. I like the use of white space - I am completely rubbish at keeping things simple and I always feel the need to fill any "gaps", so it was good to see how well this can work. Oh - and well done on the points!

Hi all, what a beautiful day today.
Shelley - glad you are feeling better today. I sometimes think we all try and cram so much into our days that we get run down easily.
Rach- Youo are so lucky to have an Asda we are supposed to be getting one but the Town Council are making it difficult.
Michelle - I really think you ought to do a LO on your kitchen may be compare before and after.
Esther - Try not to be shy about putting up your LO I know thats easier said than done I was worried about mine. You family will love looking at it. I think that sometimes we are to critical about our own work, that why I think it is good to be a member of a team so you can try new things on your work.
Talking of teams I have just earnt us 30pts for this weeks challenge. I found the hand made embellishment a bit tricky but in the end I went for a flower made from ribbon with a button in the centre. Problem was I couldn't find a suitable button that was until I visited my mum and dad earlier. His polo shirt was idea and he is now missing a button.
I hope to upload it tonight.

Hey girls
Just posting a message on here today. You may not hear from me for a while (or I may drop in for a chat if I need cheering up). I do however, want to continue this team but may not be around for a while. My mum went into hospital with a suspected virus on Monday. She is 63. They have since diagnosed lung cancer which has spread to her brain. She does not have much longer to go, maybe days, maybe a few weeks. The scrapping I hope may take my mind off things. I only hope none of you have to go through anything like this.

Audrey, I am so sorry to hear your news, it is so hard to keep your head when there so many thoughts and feelings reeling around. Just come back on line and share what you are going through whenever you think it will help, just saying things out loud or writing them down can help enormously, if not right now then certainly in the future. heres a story for you !
me and my friend took the kids to the new forest today for a picnic and walk , one of my fav places in the forest is cadman's pool, as the name suggests it has a pool with ducks and geese so we took bread to feed them.
we were only there ten minutes feeding the ducks when we heard a big splash we turned around to find my 13 yr old ds sat waste deep in the pond.
after fishing him out his excuse was he forgot to let go of the bread........what am i going to do with him.

Question time.....How big does a mini book have to be and how many pages does it have to have and how many points? I just finishing one of some professional photos I had taken of my DD1 when she was 7 (9 now!) It is quite small as it is made on covered beer mats hole punched and kept together with book rings. Do you think that would count?
Sorry I have been a bit quiet lateley, I've been finishing off the cards for work. Got a busy weekend up ahead with family visiting on Saturday but maybe Sunday I can get cracking on a bigger project like a real LO would be good!
I wish I had taken my camera to work today. Every year we have to do refresher training in weapon handling tests and respirator drills in a chamber filled with CS gas. What a picture that would have made. I was so tired when I got home (normally am by the end of the week) that I flaked out on the sofa and slept for 2 hours hence the fact I am still awake now! Got to stop staying up so late making cards! But I have to it's my therapy. I am going to bed now though as I get up in 5 hours.
See you all tommorrow. (Well later today)

Hi everyone,
Just got back from a Craft Club I run for little children locally. I am now covered in paint and icing sugar- always a good mix I think!
I am glad to see that I am not the only bad parent around here :D I have done another LO - but I was reluctant to post it as the photo was taken when my DD was really grumpy - and I thought that only having LOs in my Gallery with pictures of when my DD has hurt herself or is unhappy was not a good idea! Clearly this is normal scrapbooker behaviour though - so I am going to post it anyway!

Hope you have a good time Michelle on the ship it will be really good material to scrap.
I can remember taking a photo of my DD when she was about 3 she was pouting and looked well stroppy. I recently put that in a Lo for a 8x8 book I made for her 21st . I did hide it though under a picture of her looking angelic, with the journaling about a girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead.. inside I put also applies to girls with straight hair, if I feel evil enough I may post it.

I have been laughing so much at everyone's stories about scrapbooking - our families must love us!!
Everytime I get my camera out my niece and nephew groan and say 'not another scrapbook moment'!! :D
Also admit that I have a thing for stroking paper and actually talk to myself when I'm looking at goodies on websites!!

Talking of goodies.... I managed to get one of the Shimelle "Scrap Your Day" kits - and it arrived today!!! (Luckily before my DH got home, so I could hide it amongst existing stash and pretend that I have had it for ages!) It is absolutely gorgeous and I have been doing so major stroking!
If anyone wants any details of how to put the book together - let me know. I don't think it would be too hard to put together something similar using existing stash.
Anyway, I have done a LO for the weekly challenge. I am not that pleased with it, but I will post it anyway (tomorrow now, as I am too tired to sort it out tonight).
I have a question relating to the Challenge: Do you think a ribbon photo edge thing counts as a hand made embellishment, or do you think that is pushing it too far??

Thanks for all your feedback on the beer mat thingy's, they are fun to make and at least I get to look at then regularly when I make a cuppa and go to the fridge.

Has anyone get any tips of how best to photograph LOs?
Rachael, I have taken pictures of my LO's in various ways but I found the easiest as follows:
Standing the LO on a picture stand (those little ikea wooden cheapies are fine). Natural light is best and I had my camera on a stand so that I could tilt it forward slightly to balance the camera angle against that of the stand to avoid it being bigger at the bottom and narrower at the top.
You can just lay it on the floor and stand over it but it is difficult to avoid standing in you own light and casting shadows.
Hope this helps a bit and not too basic for you.
RachaelK
19-04-2008, 08:33 PM
Thanks for the advice Josie - it definitely wasn't too basic for me. I will give that a try with my next attempt.
Here is (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157653&limit=recent)my other LO from earlier (again - no awards for mother of the year for me!:D)

What a busy day I have had. I went to the scrapaholic crop I managed to complete a DLO of fireworks and a SLO of DH and DD. May post them in a bit. I find it amazing that the 7 hours I am at a crop goes quicker than the 6 hours I am at work:(
Josie - I loved the beer mats they are just so good. Hope you had fun swimming.
Terrie - DD and I went to see Horton Hears a Who a couple of weeks back we thought it was really good, we are looking forward to the Panda film as well.
Whilst I was at the crop a fellow scrapper who is also into stroking :) showed us a paperbag book she had made, how cool was that, I just loved the little pockets for putting tickets and stuff. She had bought a load from America, she visits quite often cos her DD lives there.
I am quite looking forward to this CJ.

Well everyone seems to have been very busy today, Fran I envy you going to a crop. Unfortunately DH works most weekends and I never get to go to one, I may have found a midweek evening one, but I would need to be pretty organised with a good mental sketch before I went to achieve anything as I spend the first 45 minutes cooing over people albums and mentally scratching my brain.
Swimming was good, I have been trying to lose weight and decided it wasn't fair on the kids to not take them just because I was feeling self concious and so I bought a decent cosi and dragged my Mum and Sister along so we had one adult per child.
Can someone please remind how to copy the link to a gallery item and put it in the text of the post like you are doing when you type here, I used to be able to do it but my memory has faded in old age and I can't seem to get it right.

Josie,
Here is a copy of the post my very helpful adoptive Mummy sent me about this very topic!
To put a link:
1) go to your gallery and click on the LO you want to link.
2) copy the web address at the top of the window, including the http://
3) go you the post where you want to post.
4) Do one of two things
4a) paste in the whole address straight into your LO. (which looks abit messy, but it works)
4b) type a word or sentance i.e "my LO here", highlight the word or sentance then click the "world and chain link" icon just above where you are typing. A new window will pop up, paste in your address. (make sure you don't end up with two http:// bits). Finish the rest of your post and post it.
5) go to your post and check that the link worked (once you are comfortable with it you don't need to check.
6) if it doesn't work, its probably because you've got an extra http:// so edit your post and delete them.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
Sorry not very short but William Wordsworth certainly had a way with words.
perhaps just one verse would suffice.

I like the poem idea :) I love a poem that starts 'Oh come away oh human child' - can't remember who it's by off the top of my head. It was used in Torchwood when a little girl died though so I don't want to use it in a LO now!
Isn't A.A Milne the one who wrote winnie the pooh? I do have a little poem type thing from that which I used...
"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together,
there is something you must always remember,
you are braver than you believe, stronger than you think.
but the most important thing is, even if we're apart,
I'll always be with you"
It made me cry when I first read it! I warn you I get very emotional over this type of stuff! I cry at the telly all the time - and films  put it this way my kids always turn round and stare at me at the end of every film...including Horton hears a Who. It's madness!
My fingers are killing me! I have been sewing for 5 hours flat! I'm not used to it anymore, my patchwork has been sitting in the cuboard for about a year.
Anyway, just thought I'd check in before bed. Night all :)

Morning all, Well sounds like everyone did have fun yesterday.
Well I have a not so fun day today, it's raining here and I have threee kids to entertain and loads of ironing. I hate ironing (until I get started and usually find it's not so bad) I usually tumble everything and it softens most things up and the girls trousers and jumpers don't then need ironing, but the tumble dryer latch broke on the door. Allready had a new dishwasher last week so it will be a while before I have a new dryer, boo hoo.
Also got an Order of Service to type up and make 11 more cards.
I am going to have to say no to cards soon and have a dedicated scrap week!
I will try and do a page today with the kids though hopefully the weekly challenge to earn us some points.
I am loving the poem idea, perhaps we could all try a LO with a poem/song in as our own mini challenge and we can all have a good cry.

The poems are all beautiful - I think if we did too many LOs with them on, we would have to find away to incorporate all the tearstains as part of them -perhaps with some doodling?

I've got 3 rabbit/guinea pig hutches to clean this morning, DD usually helps as the GPs are hers and the rabbits mine.
They are all double decker hutches with huge runs attached (too many foxes to let them run unsupervised when we are out) so it is always a big job to do - at least the rabbits are trained to used litter trays so not as horrid as it could be. My pet sitter manages it in 30 minutes each time she comes so I've got to find out her secret! It always takes me an hour to do the three of them.

Wendy have left feedback on your lovely LO's they are great.
Shelley a bingo board is a great little narrow board to lean on whilst playing bingo. It is wide enough for bingo tickets. But I bought them to make shopping list holders, they make great stocking fillers. I have attached the original picture here as I took this pic to sell them on a well know auction site but haven't got around to it. I have about 50 of them (blank).
The kids love them for girly scriblings.
Has anyone got any pics of a circle journal or point me in the right direction, they sound fun but I'm not entirely sure of what they entail.
The girls are watching a film and Joe is making a mechano truck so I think I will sneak into the garage and have alook at some photos.
See you all in a bit.....

Just had a look at that Blog - I like the idea of colour challenges so I think I may have a go at this.
Just a quick question - does anyone know why men are so infuriating?? My DH is driving me absolutely mad - and he is not even here! He has gone for a nice day out with a friend and he still feels the need to phone me and ask the most stupid, annoying questions until I feel like screaming at him!!
Anyway, I feel better for that rant - thanks for listening

Hope the roast is going well Michelle - ooh roast....might have to have some kind of roast too :)
I've just done another LO - here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157743&cat=500)
It's more glittery and shiny than in the photo though!
Will have to stop scrapping now and do some marking - arghhh!!

Busy sorting out kits for the CC, didn't buy any this time as my faves were sold out by the time I got back from Holiday. DD (10) wants to do some of the challenges so I'm sorting kits for her too.

Yes, me too! - I'm going to start sorting out stuff for the CC later on today.
Having never done one, I don't know how close we need to be with some of the supplies - is it just a case of whatever you have got to hand, or does it really need to be similar in pattern, colour etc?

I'm going with whatever I have at hand. Some of the kits I have papers from eg some of the Basic grey stuff, but others I don't have and I'm pulling together all sorts. Usually very different colour combinations to that in the kit.

Hi everyone!
I must tell you a funny story!! I went to bed early last night but then woke at 1 am not able to sleep so I came downstairs and was on the internet and UKS and went back to bed about 2 pm. Didn't tell DH as he thinks I'm spending more time on UKS than with him (ha ha!). All was fine until a friend at church who's also a member of UKS said she'd sent me a pm telling how sad I was to be online at 2 am - unfortunately my dh was right beside me when she shared this!!
But all ok as I made him a lovely roast dinner and he's gone for a sleep now!!

Just uploaded 3 more LOs today - I tend to do this after I've been on holiday - loads of scrapping (I once did 45 LOs in a month) then nothing for weeks. So be assured this is not my usual production rate.

At last first LO in about a year, not one of my favourites and I couldn't apply my own advice on taking a photo of a LO as the kids seem to have lost my frame.... Oh well here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=157788&limit=recent) is my effort.
Wendy Great LO's.
Off to cook dinner now otherwise there will be a divorce looming as DH is at work.
I agree about men being infuriating, my DH doesn't quite my need to be creative. I have to have a fix to escape from waht I do all day.
The military ethos can be a tad restrictive on creative thinking I find. But I have my crafting to counterbalance that.

Your guys put me to shame! They are all fab LO's and all very inspiring!
I have completed a LO today - Infact I have done nothing else today! I will upload later.
I don't know what I would do if I couldn't be creative at some point everyday. I'd be very grumpy, I know that!
Shelley - are you a teacher?

Don't know how much scrapping I'll get done this week as we're organising a fundraiser crop on Saturday and there's a lot of prep to be done. :(
I've also mountain of ironing to do so must tackle that tonight - wish I could afford a housekeeper!!!!
Bye for now x

Terrie - yes, I am -high school- which is why i've been able to get so much done as I've been off on easter holidays!! Back to school again tomorrow though, and I usually have marking in the evening and quite a bit of prep as I leave work asap to collect my dd from school (luckily I'm able to work nearish home and near her school - so the extra evening work I don't mind!).
Will try to schedule a couple of scrapping hours in this week though :) Also got reports to do so might make a deal with myself that each class of reports = an hour of scrapping! Will want to do the wk 4 challenge though :D

Hi there,
Shelley - I am not looking forward to going back to school either. we go back on Tuesday as tomorrow is a non-pupil day, think schools are nice without the children:lol:
Michelle - I just love that mini book she will be soooo pleased to recieve that.
When is this CC that you are doing, how does it work ?
I am making the most of my last day home tomorrow, I am sitting with a friend who is practising for her driving test at the end of May then after lunch we are scrappin. So it should be fun.
Look in again later. Think you are all really tallented have been leaving feedback.

I don't like INSET days - so very very boring!! Much prefer it when the kids are in!
Have been thinking of doing a little scrapbook of my form - a mini one of course or it would end up being vv expensive - could put a few of the qualities of each child in there and then get it photocopied at school for each of the class - what does everyone think? Would they think I was mad?!!
Have started on the marking - essays, and they aren't bad actually - shows a lot of improvement, but am in the scrapping not marking zone lol!
