Val those little ATC's are cute! I love the look of the Tilda's but I just *know* that when I have one in my hands I'd be at a complete loss as to what to actually do with it!
I am in seventh heaven now... have just been playing with my bug. Its fab!
dotty_dotty
10-04-2008, 10:02 PM
i agree anthea they are really cute but like you Iwouldn't know what to do with them , glad the buig's going well how's DD
jo.bee
10-04-2008, 10:15 PM
They do look gorgeous but what do you do with them afterwards?? I have problems working on such a small scale. Have a feeling Fae has already done some of those challenges or something very similar.
Have made 3 cards tonight - 2 are OK but one is complete pants!!
faeryscrapper
10-04-2008, 10:23 PM
Yep, I've done all those challenges
dotty_dotty

The ones I've done are on my blog - not very good but they're so cute

I only have Magnolias - so they would all end up looking the same - and I'm not buying anymore!!

I've got 34 Tildas/Edwins/accessories now - ooops!
jo.bee
10-04-2008, 10:41 PM
Big oops!!
scrappydiva
10-04-2008, 10:55 PM
LOL, you have a complete 'thing' about stamps don't you Fae??
DD is ok so far, we didn't give her any tea tho'. I'm hoping she'll be fit for the weekend as we are at this wedding on Saturday and she's spending the weekend with Grandma and Grandad. I don't really fancy dumping a sick child with them and then swanning off to the do.
faeryscrapper
10-04-2008, 11:05 PM
Definitely a 'thing' about stamps

10-04-2008, 11:11 PM
My SU stamps will be on their way tomorrow.

Which ones did you get??? I've been going through the catty tonight trying to decide what to order next
scrappydiva
10-04-2008, 11:26 PM
Ooh I'm having fun!! Between the Robo and the Cricut I'm just having a whale of a time!
Auntie Frankie
10-04-2008, 11:31 PM
I've done half a cj tonight again in record time but need to find the cable for the printer!!
Everything had to stop at 9pm as Bones is back and there was no way I was missing that.
Furniture didn't arrive today as they had it on the list but had put it with next weeks orders!!! they rang after I went to take DS swimming and said that they would re-deliver next Tuesday to which Mum said "No you won't it will be tomorrow!!!!!!" get her.......who knew she could be so authoritative (sp)? Anyway the woman rang back and low and behold it should be here tomorrow before 11am. heads will roll if it's not.
Off to bed for a read. Mum and I are having a girlie day in Inverness tomorrow so up early to shop, shop, shop.
Night, night.

Which ones did you get??? I've been going through the catty tonight trying to decide what to order next
I got the Circles of friendship ones - mainly for my card making. Will upload piccys of my cards tomorrow for you to laugh at!!
Have fun tomorrow Liz - haven't been to Inverness in ages.

11-04-2008, 12:05 AM
I got the Circles of friendship ones
I'm getting that set - but from the US!
Why would I laugh at your cards? I don't think I've seen a dud one yet!
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 12:14 AM
Fae, I agree... I havent seen any dud ones either. I wish my cards all came out looking like Jo's!! Unfortunately card making is not my strong suit.
faeryscrapper
11-04-2008, 12:24 AM
Exactly! Unfortunately, nothing is my strong point but I don't care
Off to bed now - absolutely shattered! Night :)
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 12:42 AM
LOL, Fae I bet you do have strong points... even if you don't recognise them as such. One of my strong points is..... making lots of noise! LOL. Unfortunately my card making leaves much to be desired.
Right, I'm shattered now. I have just used my Robo to cut out 40 8x8 pages for this guestbook I'm doing for the wedding. I've decided that rather than rushing it all, I'm just going to do the pages for the guests to write on and I'll take plenty of photo's on the day. Then I'll bring it all back home to collate it all, scrap some photo's, bind it and prettify it in my own time. We see this couple fairly regularly so I'm hoping that I can give them the finished article the next time we see them. At least that way I know I'm not going to be making mistakes AND I can explore my cricut at my leisure and make full use of it in this album. I've bought the 'opposites attract' cartridge specifically for this album.
Anyway, I'm off to bed now. I'm really hoping that DD is going to be well enough to go to nursery in the morning!!
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 09:29 AM
Was going to say why are you using your obo when you have an Cricut??? Think you are probably doing the right thing by doing it in your own time - if I rush things I usually make a mess of them.
Sun is shining but the sky is very black.
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 09:40 AM
Here (http://mrsbeee.blogspot.com/2008/04/card-challenge.html) are my cards from last night - but 2 of them are straight out of the booklet.
faeryscrapper
11-04-2008, 09:53 AM
It's lovely and sunny here - still a bit cold though!
My strong point - I can read quickly??? Not much use when it comes to scrapping or cardmaking
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 10:11 AM
But a skill none the less.
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 10:50 AM
Jo, I'm using the robo to cut plain 8x8 squares, which is something I don't have a cartridge for. I haven't yet connected the cricut to my pc or downloaded any of the software. So I figured that I know how to get Cyril to cut squares so would just use him for that this time. Its quicker and easier than trying to download and learn how to use new software... although I must admit I was tempted.
DD seems fine this morning so has been shipped off to nursery. I've still got some more pages to cut with Cyril so had better get cracking with that now.
faeryscrapper
11-04-2008, 10:50 AM
Not a very handy one for scrapping though ;)
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 12:11 PM
Yay! I've finished cutting all 80 pages for the guestbook... and I've printed off the first 20 pages. Need to go pick up DD from nursery and then make a mad dash into town... I nearly forgot that I'm supposed to be buying some disposable cameras for the wedding!! Luckily DH reminded me this morning. Might also have to get some pens for the guests to fill in the guestbook pages too... and some baskets to hold the cameras and pages. I think that's about everything tho'. I hope so, otherwise its going to get forgotten.
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 12:32 PM
I'm off to the tip to get rid of some of the rubbish I found in the attic yesterday - then a trip to the charity shop with some of the boys old toys and clothes - and then the library.
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 05:52 PM
Well, picked up DD, went to the tip and got rid of all the rubbish, went to the city centre and visited the camera shop, bought 35 disposable cameras, went to Wilkinsons, bought 2 baskets for cameras and guestbook pages, had lunch, went to a friends house, babysat her two kids while she went to get a spray tan, come home and now am printing 80 pages for the guest book. Also need to just try my outfit for tomorrow on again to check it still fits.... my bump has grown so much!!
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 05:56 PM
Hope you can still fit in your frock Anthea!!
Just back from the beach - managed to beat the rain.
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 05:59 PM
I hope so too Jo... I don't think I should have a problem fitting in it. Its a maternity one and is fairly stretchy. The question tho' is whether it still looks good or whether it just makes me look like a fat whale.
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 06:04 PM
But at least you have an excuse!!
scrappydiva
11-04-2008, 06:07 PM
Well yeah there is that I suppose. Still, I don't really want to look like a whale... I do that well enough without being pregnant!
jo.bee
11-04-2008, 10:13 PM
Been eating ice cream on the beach this afternoon - not really warm enough. Had to laugh as DH dropped his mobile phone into a rock pool - what was funnier was DS1 telling him off about being more careful with his things!! Talk about pot calling the kettle black!!

Mum and I had a great day yesterday mooching round the shops. What a change to have no one saying "Can we go home now?" every 5 minutes.
Spent today tidying up and de-dusting after all the recent sanding. Dh took DS out for his first proper pigeon shoot and they had a great time. DS said he 'Skiffed' a few birds but didn't kill any!!!!! Mum and I watched north & South while I did the ironing. (exciting or what?)
Going to takeMum to the Cathedral tomorrow as it's a free weekend!! hope the weather stays dry.
faeryscrapper
12-04-2008, 11:54 PM

I confessed though - actually, I think all I bought today was some EZ Mount! Oh, and one stamp
faeryscrapper
12-04-2008, 11:55 PM
Great photos Liz :) Did you buy anything nice yesterday?
jo.bee
12-04-2008, 11:59 PM
We went to Urqhart Castle today - after nearly 8 years of living up here I thought it was about time! Saved ourselves nearly £20 on the admission price which isn't bad. The visitor centre is really good and we spent a couple of hours looking round. Think we are off to Huntly Castle and Kildrummy Castle tomorrow if the weather is OK.
Popped into Inverness on the way home - had a rummage round Primark and found some bargains. Also managed to persuade DH to stop at the garden centre so I could check out the new Craft Central - was quite restrained though.
Watch out for the McNairns tomorrow at the cathedral - we met them at Urquhart Castle!! The boys like the cathedral - especially the gravestones!!
jo.bee
12-04-2008, 11:59 PM
I meant to get EZ mount when I was at the crop - but forgot!
faeryscrapper
13-04-2008, 12:10 AM
Oh gosh, can you do me a favour if you're going to Kildrummy???
jo.bee
13-04-2008, 12:25 AM
Go on.....
faeryscrapper
13-04-2008, 12:29 AM
Can you take a photo of the bridge that goes across the garden if you go near it please? Don't worry if you can't!
jo.bee
13-04-2008, 12:40 AM
Will do - not 100% sure if we are going - depends on the weather - have just had a hailstorm here. The weather today was lovely until we got to the other side of Inverness - then the cloud base came down and the heavens opened. Luckily by the time we had looked round the visitor centre the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. Even managed to have our picnic sitting outside - while we were watched by a couple of Highland Cows - they boys reckoned they were after their wagon wheels!!
jo.bee
13-04-2008, 12:45 AM
Off to bed to read - see you tomorrow.
jo.bee
13-04-2008, 10:32 AM
Morning - sun is shining so its off round some more castles!!
faeryscrapper
13-04-2008, 10:57 AM
Think you've got all the sunshine again! Have a fab day :)
Auntie Frankie
13-04-2008, 11:03 AM
Think Jo must have all the sun as it's a bit grey here at the moment.
I didn't get much in Inverness on Saturday but did manage to get some nice brads in Karen's in Elgin on my way home.
Off to sort my lot out. See you later.
jo.bee
13-04-2008, 11:16 AM
Honestly - its lovely - about to hang the washing out. Off to Huntly first so hoping the sun comes with us.
Liz - did you know there is a Craft Central in Howdens garden centre in Inverness - by the retail park. It was OK - the ladies in there were really nice - they sell all the usual stuff (PM peel offs etc) but to Cuttlebug & Sizzex dies, BIA and wires and Cricut bits. Might go back through on the 3rd of May as Jodi Picoult is doing a book signing in Waterstones.

We are back - did a hat trick of castles - with a distillery thrown in for good measure!!
Auntie Frankie
13-04-2008, 11:17 PM
Glad you had a good day. Mum and I went to the catherdral in the rain (and sun) and then follwed that by lunch in Johnston's woolie mill. DS went for a walk down to the spey with his Dad followed by a very muddy trip to the pond with his pals. His trainers are now in the wash!!!!!
Back to work tomorrow :(
jo.bee
13-04-2008, 11:31 PM
We had four seasons in one day - lovely and sunny while we were at Huntly castle - then popped into the new Asda for provisions and when we came out it was chucking it down! DS2s jeans are in the wash as he managed to get covered in sheep s**t while we were at Kildrummy!! Hail and snow while we were at Balvenie castle so we ended up doing the Glenfiddich tour which was actually quite interesting. Lots of piccys on my blog.
So glad the boys are back at school tomorrow - peace and quiet returns!!

jo.bee

Nice and sunny here too - off to the jobcentre to make my claim to JSA and then to as my cupboards look bare.
Just looked at this week challenge - maps and handmade embellishments - mmmm............
faeryscrapper
14-04-2008, 10:58 AM
Interesting challenge then!

Not interesting enough to make me want to do it - although have found some Love Elsie paper with house plans on.
jo.bee
14-04-2008, 11:12 AM
Fae - got you a couple of photos from Kildrummy gardens - not sure if they are what you wanted. Didn't actually go into the gardens as they wanted £4.50 each - so sneaked up the road to the hotel. Will show you them when DH gets off the big computer.
faeryscrapper
14-04-2008, 11:33 AM
They charge to go in the garden? Wow! Thanks for getting them :)
jo.bee
14-04-2008, 01:00 PM
Think it was more to look round the gardens than it would have been to look around the castle - think its because the gardens are now managed by a trust whereas the castle is Scottish Heritage.
scrappydiva
14-04-2008, 01:21 PM
Good moaning...
I'm back, and shattered! The wedding went well, DH's speech was good, the couple look very happy and we only left the party when it ended at 1am!! I think we were both in bed and fast asleep by 1.30am. The hotel was gorgeous and I had the most enormous breakfast the next morning which included fruit salad, cooked breakfast and waffles with maple syrup!! Needless to say I couldn't actually eat much when MIL put lunch on the table. I am still tired tho' and feel like I need a 3 week holiday to get over this weekend. I'm very jealous too as the happy couple are off to Mexico for their honeymoon today.
Not much planned for today, just pottering around. The study needs a good tidy up as its a tip from me doing the guestbook pages on Friday. Was also thinking that I might pop into Costco for a few things but have forgotten what I wanted to get! I really ought to write a list when I think of these things.
Anyway, that's about it from me. I'll chat a bit more later!

Yes, I've been - that was the last time I got on a plane
We stayed in Cancun for a week and did the Inca Trail for a week - it was fabulous and I'm glad I did it then, we were going to wait but just as well we didn't!
scrappydiva
14-04-2008, 03:56 PM
I'm not sure what part of Mexico they're going to. Knowing the bride and groom probably the Inca trail. They're not really 'sit on the beach' type of people that I imagine would be attracted to Cancun.
faeryscrapper
14-04-2008, 04:07 PM
We didn't 'sit on the beach' in Cancun, although I loved the day we did - mainly 'cause it was the day I went swimming with the dolphins :)
scrappydiva
14-04-2008, 04:10 PM
Wow, swimming with Dolphins! Now I can really see that Mary-Anne (the bride) would be totally into that. Not really Andy's sort of thing tho'.

Congratulations to DS - not so good about your friend though.
scrappydiva
14-04-2008, 11:19 PM
Oh dear... that's not good to hear Liz! I always wonder why a person would leave after so long. I can understand marriages that disintegrate in the first 2 or 3 years because obviously they were just badly matched... but after so long? They were obviously compatible, so what's changed?? I don't mean your friend specifically, Liz... just a general thought. I think after that long if I left DH I would miss him so much that I would end up going back a couple of hours later!!
faeryscrapper
14-04-2008, 11:21 PM

She's been really unhappy for a few years now but stayed as her youngest daughter was still at home but she has now moved in with her boyfriend and has a nursing job locally. She coming over on Friday for a glass of wine and a chin wag. I'm just worried she's not eating. She lost half a stone since last Wednesday!!!!!

Instead of using Internet Explorer as your browser we use Mozilla Firefox - far better & safer than IE!
scrappydiva
15-04-2008, 07:32 PM
Firefox is an internet programme... you use it to surf the net much like you would normally do on Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, IE doesn't really do it for me... firefox is much better.
Fae, which mail prog do you use? I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird for a few months now. I think its much better than Outlook, but the only problem is that it doesn't divert junk mail into a seperate folder. It just flags it up... which is good in some ways cause you never miss an important email because it ended up in the wrong folder... but its also not so good cause EVERYTHING comes into the same place and you just end up with loads of emails to delete.

Liz, I'd have referred your DS to someone else too! LOL.
Jo, don't you love having to do that? I always end up with letters left over that I'm never going to use. I have one set of letters that I'm wondering how I can make a title with a 'z' two 'w's, a 'q' and a random assortment of other consonants. Unfortunately i've no vowels left tho'. Not sure I'm going to get a decent title out of that tho'

Sounds nasty - what made him do that??
faeryscrapper
17-04-2008, 03:51 PM
He gets spooked easily - I was just taking the old one off and some stupid idiot selling fascia boards and guttering knocked on the door  Ignoring the fact that we have new guttering and a sign saying no thank you to door to door callers! So of course, he objected to taking it off and tried to grab hold of the collar, & got me
scrappydiva
17-04-2008, 06:33 PM
Oops. I don't understand the point of putting up signs like that when people don't seem to be able to read them. I think our country has started breeding a generation of idiots who can't read signs or follow road markings. I had an idiot drive towards me today flashing his lights and giving me all sorts of finger signals. I stopped and asked him what the matter was, to which his (highly edited) reply was that I was being a stupid twit for driving down the middle of the road. I then kindly and patiently pointed out to him that he was in fact going the wrong way down a one-way street. Stupid idiot.
jo.bee
17-04-2008, 06:56 PM
There are so many people who seem to drive around with their heads up their a***s!! I'm fed up of people pulling out in front of me on roundabouts. In Moray the majority of folk have no idea what indicators are actually for!
Well done for being calm and patient Anthea - I have road rage tendancies when I am driving!!
Auntie Frankie
17-04-2008, 07:21 PM
Well done Anthea. I think my answer might have needed editing too if had been me!!
Fae how's the hand? And are you talking to the cat yet?
Yellow box arrived today and at the minute I'm not sure about any of it except the little B & W journalling block.
jo.bee
17-04-2008, 07:48 PM
Have started using my kit - half a LO done.
Have just watched our local news and seen a report on a lovely man I had the pleasure of meeting several times. He was suffering from bowel cancer and our local health authority wouldn't give him the drugs he needed as they cost over £7K a month. He has been campaigning to stop this happening to other people across Scotland. He was eventually given the drugs after paying for them himself - but sadly he passed away at the beginning of the week. his wife is carrying on his work for him.
scrappydiva
17-04-2008, 08:11 PM
That's sad to hear Jo.
I don't know how I managed to stay calm, believe me! I can have roadrage tendencies when I'm driving too. I think it was a minor miracle that I didn't take his head off, especially after all the finger signals I'd been getting only moments before.

DH has just got back from his interview in Aberdeen (via a mates house) and has found out one of friends was killed in a road traffic accident at the weekend - there was a delay in releasing his details as they had to identify him from his dental records. Not a day for good news.:(
scrappydiva
17-04-2008, 09:04 PM
Oh dear, definitely not a good day. He must have been rather badly maimed then for them to have to use dental records!!
jo.bee
17-04-2008, 09:09 PM
He was - a trailer came off the back of a truck and hit his car on the A66 - he was on his way back to Kinloss after his leave. Think the funeral is on Monday.
DH said his interview went well - but he doesn't want to do the job! He knows he would be bored witless within a couple of months - and there is no way he wants to drive to Aberdeen and back every day. So he is going back to do his old job for a few months - but without all the hassle of being in the RAF!! And this way he gets some time to look for a job he really wants to do instead of taking the first thing he gets offered.
scrappydiva
17-04-2008, 09:20 PM
That sounds like a smart move Jo. That drive to Aberdeen and back everyday would soon become a real bind, and if the job is boring too there would be no real incentive to get up every morning. Which both you and him would soon start to hate.

Just read this - and it made me laugh.
Just for a minute, forget everything stressful and read
this...............
Close your eyes and go back in time...
Before the Internet...
Before semi-automatics, joyriders and crack....
Before Playstations, x-box or Super Nintendo...
Way back......
I'm talking about Hide and Seek in the park.
The corner shop.
Hopscotch.
Butterscotch.
Skipping.
Handstands.
Football with an old can.
Fingerbobs.
Beano, Dandy, Buster, Twinkle and Dennis the menace.
Roly Poly.
Hula Hoops, jumping the stream, building dams.
The smell of the sun and fresh cut grass.
Bazooka Joe bubble gum.
An ice cream cone on a warm summer night from the van that plays a tune
Chocolate or vanilla or strawberry or maybe Neapolitan or perhaps a screwball.
Wait......
Watching Saturday morning cartoons, short commercials or the flicks.
Children's Film Foundation, The Double Deckers, Red Hand Gang, The Tomorrow People, Tiswas or Swapshop?, and 'Why Don't You'? - or staying up for Doctor Who.
When around the corner seemed far away and going into town seemed like going somewhere.
Earwigs, wasps, stinging nettles and bee stings.
White dog sh*t.
Sticky fingers.
Playing Marbles. Ball bearings. Big 'uns and Little 'uns.
Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, and Zorro.
Climbing trees.
Building igloos out of snow banks.
Walking to school, no matter what the weather.
Running till you were out of breath, laughing so hard that your stomach hurt.
Jumping on the bed. Pillow fights.
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.
Being tired from playing....remember that?
The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
Football cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle.
Choppers and Grifters.
Twist grip 3 speed gears
Everyone had Police sirens on their bikes.
Small narrow skateboards and adjustable rollerskates
Eating raw jelly. Orange squash ice pops.
Remember when...
There were two types of trainers - girls and boys, and Dunlop Green Flash and the only time you wore them at school was for P.E.
You knew everyone in your street - and so did your parents.
It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.
You didn't sleep a wink on Christmas eve.
When nobody owned a pure-bred dog.
When 25p was decent pocket money
Curly Wurlys. Space Dust. Toffo's.
Top Trumps.
When you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny.
When nearly everyone's mum was at home when the kids got there..
When any parent could discipline any kid, or feed him or use him to carry groceries and nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it.
When being sent to the head's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home.
Basically, we were in fear for our lives but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs etc.
Parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! (and some of us are still afraid of them.) Didn't that feel good?
Just to go back and say, Yeah, I remember that!
Remember when....
Decisions were made by going " eanie meanie minie mo "
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly".
The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was germs.
And the worst thing in your day was having to sit next to one.
t was unbelievable that 'British Bulldog 123' wasn't an Olympic event.
Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a catapult.
Nobody was prettier than Mum.
Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better.
Taking drugs meant orange-flavoured chewable aspirin.
Ice cream was considered a basic food group.
Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.
Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors.
If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED.
Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from their "grown up" life...
I DOUBLE-DARE YOU

Twitching was good - but must have walked about 5 miles! It was a proper RSPB run one so they knew what they were talking about. Quite a hike to the hide but saw lots of birds. The most amazing thing was the herons - have never seen herons nests before - there we 11 way up high in the trees and the herons were flying around. Made me think what it would have been like in prehistoric times cos they looked just like pterodactyls!! We also came across a little pond that was heaving with tadpoles - looked like the water was bibbling cos there were so many of them!DS1 had a whale of a time as he was with some of his school friends - and they were allowed to open up the bird boxes to see if they were occupied.

Glad they all had a good time. Hope it wasn't too cold? It was blooming freezing walking round the Gordon castle this morning.
DH and possibly DS are off to watch the footie in the pub this afternoon so it will be nice and quiet. Even the dog has been booted out in the garden.
Made 30 mini fairy cakes and they seem to have been a sucess with DS. Now need to crack on with some crafting.

Val did ask if her sister could join us a little while ago. I'm up for boosting our numbers - see what everyone else says.
Grass mowed - not sure how much longer your old mower will last Liz - more speed tape than anything else now!!

Off to bed - been watching the British Superbikes but my eyes hurt watching them go round and round. One rider was knocked clean off his bike by a riderless bike cartwheeling down the track - how he walked away from it I will never know. DH is promising himself a new bike as in his eyes two whelels are always better than four!!

i love motorbikes - just something aboout them!
Its good that your mum is being positive Val - better to be that way I am sure. DHs old workmate rang yesterday for a chat - mainly because today he has his op (he is suffereing from bowel cancer too). He says one of the lumps is benign and the other has shrunk considerably as a result of his treatment so far. Thinking of him and your mum today.
Will PM Heather and Yvonne later to get their opinions.
Spent 10 minutes looking for my watch this morning - then remembered it was in my jeans pocket from yesterday - which were in the washing machine!! Stopped the machine and retrieved the watch - and its still ticking!!
Just read the CC timetable - every class sounds fab - want to try them all.

My Mum was nearly killed in a motorbike crash in 1960 - she was in Rome for the Olympics with her Dutch boyfriend. He was killed outright and my Mum nearly lost her leg - she has half her thigh missing & extensive nerve damage :(
That's why I don't like motorbikes!

Val, thinking of your mum. I hope the prognosis is good!
I used to like motorbikes and was very jealous of a girl in my class who road off-roaders. Her and a few others in our school had formed a club and used to ride on a local farmers land. We came back to school one Monday to find most of the teachers in tears... turns out the club had gone riding and then on their way home one of them had tried to impress my girl friend. There were some telephone poles along the side of the road and he decided to go under one of the cables that holds it upright. Unfortunately he misjudged and the cable ended up decapitating him. My friend got such a shock that she lost control of her bike and was in hospital being treated for serious grazes... turns out the silly girl was only wearing shorts! Needless to say, that put me right off bikes.

You do have to be so careful on bikes - they are dangerous without a doubt - with car drivers being the biggest threat. But DH has been riding motorbikes since he was 13 and its only the past few years that he has been bikeless (either sport or motoX) and he has never had an accident or fallen off. Think he was hoping that the boys would like to motoX but they haven't shown an interest - thought DS2 would as he has no fear!!

I would still like a bike, but given the chance I'd probably chicken out. The images of Kat's lovely de-skinned legs comes to mind too often. I do wonder if DH and I could oneday get a bike and sidecar and do a tour around Europe... that would be nice, and hopefully not as dangerous.
Just had a horrible email from my friends mum. Ashley went into hospital on Friday to be induced, had a c-section in the end, but the baby didn't survive. :( I feel so gutted for her. She's been trying to get pg for years! Her and her Dh will be absolutely shattered about this.
