Just spent £32 on school shoes for Adam-I have nevr in my life paid so much for a pair of shoes for myself! I just don't understand why they are so dear, same sort of shoes for Matt which are literaly twice the size/twice the materials are £34-sorry,rant over!

Sue how did he manage to delete you  bless him. We had to pay nearly that for James last pair of shoes i was the same as you. I wouldn't mind so much but he plays football in the play ground they are a mess in a week!

had a good day at Barley lands with the activities group, they all seemed to enjoy walking around the farm and painting pottery in the afternoon. Ofcourse before I went home I just had to pop in and see Marion she was very busy getting ready for Ally Pally packing everything up. I was a good girl and managed to walk out with out spending a penny though I did make sure this morning I only had enough for the bus and lunch so I can save the rest for Sunday. If I had had it with me I would of bought some lovely K&company paper stacks she has they are lush lots of pink and bling:D
It is James birthday tomorrow and I have to get up early to take him and some friends bowling then on to Maccy D's:wacko:
Hope you are all ok today. Just off to sort dinner will bbs xx

Looks like I can get to ally pally as long as I can borrow sil car and Les's sat nav-fingers crossed! Haven't a lot of money but would just be great to have a purely selfish day away from the kids. Adam is driving me mental again-screaming at Matt all the time, took him around sainsburys today and didn't realise until too late that he was biting a lot of the veg! What a strange child he can be!

Just read this on community-made me blub, especially as I have been tearing my hair out with Adam again.....................

A Moving Story

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was sent this in an email and I found it so moving and I thought you may like to read it too, sorry its so long.

You make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. "I believe that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child"

Then he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted in the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat and everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball. . the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay"

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third!"

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

"That day", said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world."

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.

May your day, be a Shay Day

Well the meatballs seemed to go down well-they all woofed it down so it must have been nice! I think he's quite proud of himself. They do such boring things in cookery in school most of the time, not 'proper' cooking as I see it. Rachel has quite a repertoire now and I'm hoping Matt will have evn better as he is starting younger!

Kayleigh took a while but didn't quite make the end of the film before she finnaly flacked out. Just ahd ex here to see James for his birthday, they actually want to take the kids away this yr to a place in Holland sounds really lovely sounds kind of like centre parks but bigger and cheaper and once you pay for your holiday all the activities are included. Only problem is he can only get the begining of September off and I am not sure when the kiddies go back and it may involve James being off for his first week at senior school:wacko:

4 pages thats double the amount peeps usually do and all the threads i have seen , they have said that they should be no bigger than 7x5 so es jeenny it is a bit on the large side

11-04-2008, 11:11 PM

Insomniac
11-04-2008, 11:38 PM
I have done 2 like that back to back! Apparently fairykaren (who owns that lovely disney CJ Jenny)is handing me the next at Ally Pally on sunday-perhaps this one's 12 x12 lol! I loved the ribbons on it and all the triple matting etc looks great but boy it's gonna be heavy by the end!

craftiemum
11-04-2008, 11:38 PM
I thought it seemed a bit big, Joan said it cost £6 to post, I think there had only been 2 entries so it will get heavier as it goes along so goodness knows how much it will cost to post for the last person.

TINK34
11-04-2008, 11:42 PM
think thats the reason that most cjs limit them to 7x5 the biggest its going to cost about twenty quid to post poor woman

I think we are all going to Ally Pally Sunday-hope there's stuff left to buy lol!

We have had a shock today. Our Vicar has resigned and we have been warned that we could be without a replacement for up to 18 months. ooh that sounds nice Lee-one of the classes is black and white so you could keep some back for that. I didn't bother with any kits this time. I had already set my heart on a gottacraft kit-they are only £9.50 but really good value and I decided I would rather get that than the Drama Queen kit which was apparently very pink this time. Lee I only just saw your pm from a few days ago-thanks for that:wub:
I have saved your number in my phone so if I don't bump into you two tomorrow I will text you for a meet-will probably see you splurging at Marion's though:lol:

couldn't get my head round that one Lee. Rachel likes to watch Love soup and it's quite funny (although it was also embarrasingly rude today!) so forgot it was on.I am a little reliant on my lift tomorrow but in the past have got there fairly early-half nine-ish. I would rather go early with the option of leaving early if I have had enough, than get there late and stay late with the stalls maybe getting a bit bare! Apparently the card machines are playing up so probably best to take cash-I only have cash anyway.Marions didn't work at ll last time and it really affected her takings.

How you doing Fayesy?

I didn't get so much pp this time-have far too much and to be honest I just didn't see much new stuff-although I spotted Jane with some very nice
pp  I did get some KI memories lace cardstock and 1 piece of crate paper.
I also got 3 paint dabbers,my basic grey precision tool kit, some penny black Christmas stamps, some other bargain 2 for £1 stamps and stamps away-lovely juornalling block. I also got some yummmy scrummy pearlescent 6 x6 papers from craftwork cards for some birthday cards I need to make.I also got some stickers for my Disney Album, some spotty flowers (again for my disney album) essentials like easy lift tape, and a sparkling pastelle watercolour palette-these have really come down in price now and I prefer them to twinkling H2O's. With regard to my arthritis which is really bothering me at the moment in my hands,I also bought an easy grip handle for when using acrylic blocks with stamps. I also bought some 7 gypsies cardholder tags (couldn't get the stand, but I am going to use them on an old roladex thingy).
I actually came home with some money!

A backporch memories kit for making a decorated chalk board-will look gorgeous in my kitchen which is very cream and neutral,a lovely stationary set, compact mirror and trinket box in very girly pink and some lovely japaenese sweeties-which are too pretty to eat!

It was good Trisha-not as good as in previous years but still the best of the shows available to us down here. It's also so nice to meet up with people-I met 3 of the people on my newbie CJ and it was nice to put a face-to the name-to the journal! When you hear how much the stallholders paid for their stands,I don't see how they can make a profit though. The credit/debit machines weren't working on a lot of stalls (I only use cash anyway) but I think they must do it mainly for the advertising as I'm sure Marion said it cost her £1,600!

April 08 Week 3 Team Challenge by the Scrap & Tickle Team
This weeks challenge has been set by the Scrap & Tickle team.

In April 1581, the first circumnavigation of the globe was completed – although sadly, Ferdinand Magellan, the man who planned and led the expedition, never saw his goal.

So … use a map or plan of some kind on your LO = 10pts
The sailors must have sailed a lot of seas, so for using the colour blue = 5pts.
Use a hand-made embellishment = 5pts
Use ink on your LO (eg stamped image, inked edges etc) = 5pts
Use eyelets and/or brads - 5pts

Insomniac
14-04-2008, 11:35 AM
Didn't think I wanted to do this one,but having thought about it,I am going to do one for my disney album, using a map of the park somewhere on it. Apart from the map/plan it is pretty straight forward.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am shattered after yesterday. Sounds daft, but I was too tired to sleep last night-still awake at 12.40 this morning then up early for school. Could just nod off now but have so much hw to do!

Well I didn't notice any different prices on any of the other (many!) stalls I bought from Dee-in fact a lot of the stalls were cheaper than their shops. I discussed this with Joanna Sheen at a show last year, she doesn't charge p&p at all and feels the majority of shops totally rip us off with p&p charges. As she said, she gets a lot of small orders as well as large,as many people who only want a couple of quickie glue pens, herma refill etc are totally put off if they have a postal charge almost as much as the item.
Anyway I have emailed her to ask her if it was a mistake or deliberate policy.I will see what she says-possibly she discounted some items as loss-leaders and put up others to compensate.

Dee that nurse is obviously behind the times-they don't go by body mass anymore but by waist size :) I have to say I have seen some mahoosive nurses and health visitors giving weight and health advice-I woman I worked with was morbidly obese-5ft,22 stone and also had malignant hypertension due to her weight and unhealthy diet. She couldn't understand why people wouldn't listen to her health advice-if she had even said 'don't end up like me,please' she may have had more success but she used to say it was her glands (rolllucks!) and she 'wasnt really that big'. I used to see her parked up in various places, when she was supposed to be doing home visits, eating cream cakes and reading womens magazines! I also think it's bad when they don't read your notes. I was on my own for almost 5 years when I split with my ex-my GP had (sensetively) written 'single parent-sexually inactive!' on my records yet the nurses still tried to get me onto contraception every time I attended for smear or whatever:rolleyes:

Anyhow at least you didn't let it get you down!

I am sitting here fuming. I went through 2 hours of crying and now I'm fuming!
I had a letter today summoning me to court for Road tax evasion. I am looking at a conviction and £1,000 fine.
Guess why?
I don't use that car anymore-can't afford to as it's too juicy. Les was using it occasionally for the business, and paid for the tax with a company cheque-which bounced.
A letter came through last July, giving the chance to pay-he took and said he had dealt with it. I know you are all going to think I am a total idiot-and yes I am under the circumstances-but he said he had dealt with it,and as far as I was concerned that was that. They wrote again in October threatening legal action and demanding the disc back-I didn't see that,he does tend to sneak in early and take his post when he can because I open stuff for the business to try and keep tabs and it ends in rows.
He swears he thought he had dealt with it and is angry with me for being so upset. He says I will just have to try and convince the court that he is responsible not me. I have some advice from a solicitor on the phone and he doesn't think the court will accept that as I am responsible as the registered keeper of the car.
I immediately ran my Governing body,as I am concerned that this could affectmy attempts to go back to nursing or midwifery-and yes,it does as this sort of conviction is classed as deception!!!
Girls if I had a knife I would use it.
I have been praying for a sign as to wether I should deffinitely divorce Les-I have wrsteled with this because I married as a Christian and our Vicar had to go to the Bishop to convince him of our total commitment to one another,so that we could be married in Church.
I think I have my sign.
This man has damn near ruined my life and I am so fed up and fel so betrayed and in some ways I feel tainted as this has been a non-stop barrage of deceipt and nastiness.
Sorry for the rant, but I have no one else to get it off my chest to!

It gets even better!
I have telephoned the dvla today to find out if I have any defence at all. I may have had-except it turns out that Les taxed one of the company vehicles on the same cheque,as a director of that company I am liable for that as well! I hadn't seen that paperwork,he obviously swiped it when it arrived. As the woman says at dvla, they don't class ignorance and misplaced trust as a defence!I expect loads of people try to get off these sorts of charges by claiming they didn't know about it.
He has come in with a face like thunder this morning-you would think this is all my fault. He also called me a 'lazy, lazy cow' in front of the kids last night.
As I said to the woman at dvla, if she hears of a murder in this area she will know who it is,and why it happened.

Good morning!

Wow Sue.... You poor dear! I agree with Jane, you really need to start separating your self from his financial "mishaps". He is sinking and going to take you with him.....

Have you all seen the "CuttleBug" storage tote? I ordered one last week with extra inserts and it arrived yesterday! It is the coolest thing... It's for storing all of your CuttleBug embossing plates and die cuts. I got all of my stuff in it last night and now I feel the need to go buy some more dies to fill it up! lol So I am headed to HobbyLobby in a little while :)

Re Company house, that is what I am trying to do but they are unbelievably slow sending out the paperwork-the only way of doing it. You can't download the forms online apparently.
It feels like I have a black malevelence in the house-he is sitting at the pc at the moment. Adam apparently went up to him earlier and told him 'I heard what you said to mummy last night' ie lazy lazy cow! You just can't say anthing in front of him without him repeating it.
I have been to the Job centre today to make an appointment-when I was there today the only jobs suitable were cleaning jobs-the hours wouldn't allow me to take Adam to school though, and the wages would barely cover the school breakfast club-even then I would find it tight to get there early enough. I so regret letting my professional practice get out of date,I need to be earning a reasonable amount as he is clearly not able/willing to help pay towards Adam, let alone anything else.
At least the sun is shining this evening! I love the light evenings.

I think I need some valium! I have just been reading all the info re income supprt etc-do they deliberately make it so complicated? I have no idea what I can claim etc. I am getting a call-back between 8am and 1pm monday to complete the claim but I guarantee there will be some reason why I can't claim-I have worked all these years but when my first husband was ill 12 years ago and couldn't work we couldn't claim ANYTHING. They wouldn't even allow child care as they said he wasn't working and should be able to keep the kids at home himself. He couldn't walk, was too weak to bend down,Matt was only 3 months old at the time-I had to work a full time and part time job to keep us going,on top of back and forth to the hospital as he spent more time in than out. Their attitude was 'even if had 2 broken arms and 2 broken legs the rules state one parent is not working, therefore child care costs cannot be granted'! At the time I had no debt except a smallish mortgage so managed-different matter now though!

Any news on your mortgage faye?

they reckon we still owe them 3 grand lee-we had a letter saying we were entitled to it,but because we hadn't produced certain paperwork on time (we sent it-they say they never recieved it) we had to pay it back! How stupid is that when they made a pronouncement that they wouldn't claw back money if it was decided that the claimant WAS due the money.Any way blood and stone comes to mind! We were supposed to get the final decision by 26th dec just gone-what's the betting this claim will wake them up,and we will suddenly be asked to repay it immediately! Oh my gosh! Now I am confused..... Poor Sue, how in the world do you all keep up with everything. Sounds like they try and charge you/tax you for everything under the sun.
So I take it CSA must be a government assistance program like either our social security, welfare or unemployment?

I know it's hard Sue but your taking the steps you need to for you and your family.

It has been a really nice day... low 70's and sunny
I went to Hobby lobby yesterday and bought a 6'-0" 12X12 paper tower!
It has a total of 40 slots for paper and I have managed to fill them all. So I spent today sorting paper and putting it away. Now maybe I can find what I am looking for and stop double buying. They also had 40% off of Cuttlebug
stuff so I bought some much "NOT needed" embossing plates! lol
I also picked up a roll of the new Cricut vinyl.... It's so you can cut out words and stick them on the wall.

Vickie
19-04-2008, 12:32 AM
The CSA is the child Support Agency - government run and notorious for c0ck ups!
I thought you meant a 6' stack of paper there for a minute :o lol

Insomniac
19-04-2008, 12:37 AM
Trisha the CSA is the child support agency. According to Judge Judy (yes I watch daytime tv!) a similar situation in US,ie if you are recieving goverment assistance-in my case I have applied for Income support for me and the kids until I can find employment-the government makes the father of the child pay something back to them. Les is only the father of 1 of my children but he has 2 older children with his ex-they will probably get priority over Adam as they are older and he owes his ex money-never sent the paperwork back so they are already 'after him'
Life is going to be very hard. I haven't been able to stop being sick tonight-sheer anxiety. I am off to bed now-whether I sleep is another matter, but I feel shattered.
Vickie it's nice to have your cheery self back! Missed you.

Awwww you're so nice!

Life is going to be very hard. I haven't been able to stop being sick tonight-sheer anxiety.
It will be hard but since when was anything worth doing ever going to be easy? You'll get there in the end and you'll be a stronger person for it.

Hope everyone has a good day, I'm still shattered from having virtually no sleep while we were away (staying up til about 4AM most mornings drinking the profits then the kids waking us up at 7:(:blink:) so my plan for today is to catch up with all the telly I've recorded over the past month and not got round to watching then if I'm feeling a bit more energetic (LMAO) to do some scrapping:)

Well tossed and turned until past 4am,then slept in until 11am:blink:-kids just left me there, bless 'em! Can you believe that after everything he's done-I still feel heartless and guilty? I know his family are going to hate me as they don't know anything of what's gone on. So I lost my family-partly cos they didn't like him,but I have to take esponsibility for the row I had with my mum-and I won't have his family either, means I have even less support than when I split with my ex 11 years ago.
Still what's done is done, and I have to look forward now.
I am giving myself this weekend to be maudlin, then I promise you girls I won't be on here whingeing every day-I don't want to drag the thread down with my problems all the time so I am aiming to be far more positive.

Vickie sounds like a great time was had by all-hope you're not overdoing it though, with your newly healed liver! :nono: Sorry-don't want to sound like your mum even if I am old enough!

Vickie sounds like a great time was had by all-hope you're not overdoing it though, with your newly healed liver! :nono: Sorry-don't want to sound like your mum even if I am old enough!

:unsure:Erm thats what I'm worrying about now -my liver isn't better! I'm back at the consultant next monday for a 3 month check Oops! We'll find out then if the tablets he put me on are any good, they're used for hep C and I haven't got that so was really reluctant to try them but hopefully my LFT results will be OK.
My telly-fest was interrupted by Ians mam who came over blubbing so I came into my craft room and left them to it. God I'm heartless!:( I can hear every word and I feel so bad about this whole situation. More than once I've contemplated boogering off to stay with my family.

Sue the next few months will be difficult, no doubt about it but you'll pull yourself up by your boot straps because you have to. It'll all come out in the wash and his family WILL find out what a mess he's got you all in. I can sorta understand the guilt, when I left my ex he made me feel so guilty I went back to him 3 times but when I made the final break the anger took over and thats what you need to do - don't feel sorry for him coz you can bet your bottom dollar he's not feeling bad about what he's put you and the kids through. You say he's a Christian but he doesn't sound like he behaves like one!

He's just been back here crying...................what can I say? My colitis has started playing up again now-severe stress always does this,so I'm going to be on predsol enemas twice a day now until it settles :(
In a way it would have been easier for everyone if I had stuck to my guns 2 years ago, then 12 months ago-being too easy going has blured the edges and allowed him to think we were still a couple. Terrie (used to be on our team and is now a yummymummy) said it to me January 2007 and I didn't listen to her good sense then either!
Anyway I have to as you say stay strong now and attempt to carve out a new life for the kids. They have had a really rough time and I feel terrible guilt about it all-but as Rachel has said to me,I'm doing my best for them now and concentrate on the present and future.
