Kezza, just been looking at the CJ threads on here and, unless I'm not understanding it right, we are supposed to have a thread on the CJ section to say we are having a CJ. There is a thread about CJ rules and there are also threads that seem to belong to teams that are holding their own CJs like us. It says that the details have to be PMd to Scrappybunny and she posts them up.
I may have got this all wrong but it might be worth having a look. If I knew how to link the right page I would , but I don't! Sorry!

Here it is!

I know just what you mean about finding the thread Pauline. I gave up trying yesterday and just added it to my favourites list do I can get straight here now.

Liane's style is great isn't it? And Lelly's.
And Kezza's exploding box s just amazing - so intricate and detailed. If I keep going for years and years I might finally deveolp some kind of style of my own that I can be proud of... maybe - lol. Right now I'm a total copier of everyone else's ideas.

Ria - my daughters are definately on the Micheal Schofield side - so I get Linc all to myself in our house :)

I am so totally uninspired with the CJ at the moment. I think it's cos I'm terrible at doing covers. I've made minibooks for the Shimelle class but they have no covers. I'm so awful at lettering and I never know how much or little to put on them. Ah well - inspiration should come sometime - after all I have do have over three weeks :)

Liane
11-04-2008, 10:44 AM
Welcome back Di.

Krys, just go with it as far as the CJ is concerned, it doesn't matter what it's like. Your lettering on your layouts is fantastic - there's no problems there.

I'm a fine one - I haven't decorated mine yet either! Although i keep thinking of changing my theme again!

secret-scrapper
11-04-2008, 12:19 PM
good morning ladies :)
wellllllll..i have covered my cj ..havn't done the lettering yet but the outside and inside covers have been decorated.Am working on the introduction and sign in pages but i have come to a bit of a standstill on deas for the sign in page !Shall be givng it some thought today so i can continue as soon as possible.
Hope eveyone is well.
Have found this difficult too Krys...i just decided on the colour and kind of went wit the flow...i know i may well add some more stuff to it tho lol :)

Hiya - have sent you another PM Kezza, changed my mind about my theme and gone back to music.

I need to PM Clancie with my address, but has she been on here recently and is she involved with the CJ yet, if not i will leave it a while to contact her.

Liane
11-04-2008, 01:48 PM
Morning Ria, if I get a moment from nagging children I might try and do my CJ cover. If I get as far as sorting out what i need for it I'll be doing well i suspect.

morning Liane and Ria
I have changed your cj details on the first post LIane.Still havnt heard from Clancie so i dont know if shes joining in or not. If she dosnt come in before the posting date or dosnt want to take part we then the person above her can just send to you.I havnt given Vicky my address yet .
Ria im sure you will come up with an idea of how to do your book...once you start then it will probably just flow
The weather has been sunny then wet here to ..it looks warm outside but i know its very cold lol

Liane
11-04-2008, 02:39 PM
We have just had a thunderstorm and very heavy hailstones for about ten minutes. Sunny now but the sky still looks a bit threatening.
Thanks for changing my CJ theme Kezza.

secret-scrapper
11-04-2008, 04:51 PM
Ok first its cold...then its warm...then its cloudy...then its sunny...i wish the weather would make up its mind tutty !!!
Cant finish my mini book as my printer has run out of ink (i think, it dosnt work cos of the cartridge so am assuming its an ink problem ) and some family pics are on the comp lol

I'm back - hope you're all having holiday fun!

Took my mum back, left Charlie in Cornwall with Grandma, and stayed over in Exeter with my sis for a couple of days. All unscheduled, but that's me

So I take it there's a team cj going on - I'll take part. Would like to do favourite recipes as mine please Kezza.

secret-scrapper
11-04-2008, 06:05 PM
Ok have added your theme to the list in the first post Clancie. The details are in there too :) So glad that u came in here today i was worried that u was going to come in too late and miss out !

Clancie
11-04-2008, 06:18 PM
I have a Bare Elements Recipe box I got ages ago and haven't done anything to yet. Would anyone object to me just sending the cards around, as I think the box might be a bit cumbersome, and totally unnecessary . I will take a pic when I decorate it though, so you can see what they will be going into.

10 months - that's next year!!!!!!! A month for each entry makes sense though, allows for holidays, house moves, illness, children etc.

secret-scrapper
11-04-2008, 06:21 PM
well i dont have any problems with that :)and yes your right I have a holiday coming up and shall be away for 2 weeks so i wouldnt have time to do it that month if i only had the 2 weeks

Clancie
11-04-2008, 06:24 PM

11-04-2008, 06:41 PM
Oooo - I'm so glad you chose that one cos I was really close to choosing it myself :) I can do pages on that one really easily. You should see my recipe book as it is - it's already all full of scrappy bits and pieces. I've always been terrible for doing stuff like that so I guess that's why I finally got as far as starting to scrap properly

Clancie
11-04-2008, 06:41 PM

Hello everyone did we decide on a size for the cj as i am going to try and cut 2 pieces of mount board tomorrow, whilst at my local crop.

Liane
12-04-2008, 12:09 AM
Doesn't really matter exactly Vicky. Mine is 7x5 and that last one I did is 6x6 - anything that will fit in a medium sized jiffy bag really. Just not too big because of postage costs.
it's quite a good idea if you choose a size that allows you to cut out both sides of the double layout from one piece of 12x12 paper so that each person only has to use one piece for their layout. For instance, 8x6 would allow you to use one piece, but 7x7 wouldn't, IYKWIM.

Liane
12-04-2008, 10:48 AM
Morning everyone.

Enjoy your crop Vicky.

What's everybody else got planned for the weekend?

I've done my CJ covers (can't change my mind again now, Kezza) and the welcome page. Just trying to sort out the sign in at the back, then I'll have a think about my fav. music and do that later in the week.

Ladkyis
12-04-2008, 04:30 PM
I have done the covers for my CJ. I now have to do the rules thingy for the inside front and decide if I will use tags or just the pages for the sign in at the back. I am wary of tags because they can get lost so easily

I couldn't find a good paper for the covers so I took some pictures of my bookshelves (my theme is favourite books) and did the covers with that. I am quite pleased with it too.

I have that peculiar 24 hour 'thing' it started on Thursday night and I felt so sick but wasn't. I ached like the flu but had no temperature so I curled up in bed and felt sorry for myself all day and finally felt able to come down stairs exactly 24 hours from when it started - most odd. Today I feel fine.

Liane
12-04-2008, 04:47 PM
Glad you feel better now Ann.

I'm looking forward to doning your CJ as i an a keen reader too. Although choosing my favourite books might be a bit tricky.

What are you reading at present.

I am reading a Catrin Collier book - I really like her books and fall back on them between other things. Have just finished The Whaleboat House by Mark Mills - that was excellent.

Evening all, just put dinner on a bit later than usual due to me getting sorted with my CJ, really looking forward to this now with all the themes that have been chosen :)

Kezza did we get a reply from Scrapbunny about our team CJ ??

Lesley how is your mini book coming along, you sound just like me leaving things to the last minute

Liane what do you put on the welcome page ?? Do we do the first entry ??
Just a bit worried I will get things wrong

Ann glad to hear you're feeling better :)

Sounds like you're busy as usual Ria, did you ever find your elusive tape gun :D

Liane
12-04-2008, 07:45 PM
Di - on the welcome page you introduce your journal and tell everyone what you would like them to do. It's up to you how many rules you impose, such as a particular colour scheme to make it all tie in or anything else you may think of. Or you can just say anything goes.

And yes, you do the first double layout as your entry in the CJ, leaving enough blank pages for nine more afterwards.

Hope this helps,

Maybe it is the smell of them. Mind u my dog would pretty much go for anything that aint tied down...and even then she would have a good go. Her favourite thing when it comes to gardens is pulling the washing off the line...now i have put washing out and get it in again while i let the dog out ...dog in..washing out ect ect lol

Morning:)

I'm just deciding if I should go to Ally Pally or not. DH is going up to watch the marathon from a boat on the Thames somewhere, so I will have to drive myself as no doubt alcohol will be involved (him not me)!

I haven't got any pets, will have to put my thinking cap on for the pet cj! Looks and sounds like they're all starting to come together nicely.

Kezza I've been around for a few cyber-crops. You can claim points for anything you do. The first one I did, I tried to do everything, but now just pick things that appeal to me.

Not done anything crafty at all today and it looks bleak for the next few days too.
I have an appointment at the dentist tomorrow morning and then I have promised to make some Morsbags (www.morsbags.com) for a company that makes wooden toys. They want to stop using plastic carriers and would like to used cloth bags when they go to craft fairs. I have loads of fabric that I want to get rid of so that I can have the space for my scrapbooking so it is a match made in heaven.

I need to make about 100 before 3rd May. Each one takes about 11 minutes to make - you can tell I have done this a few times can't you? So that's 5 per hour say 30 per day (allowing for food and three year old granddaughter and loo runs) so four days should do it.
Actually I am so keen to get people to stop using plastic carriers I intend sewing until I run out of fabric - that might take a while LOL

Good morning everyone :)
My weekends ben ok Liane thank you :)
Ann you are going to be a busy lady for the next few days..but its soo much better for the environment not to use plastic bags :)
The weekly challenge is up am posting it here for you.Am off to get dressed now as I'm working at the school this morning :)
:stop:
This weeks challenge has been set by the Scrap & Tickle team.

In April 1581, the first circumnavigation of the globe was completed – although sadly, Ferdinand Magellan, the man who planned and led the expedition, never saw his goal.

So … use a map or plan of some kind on your LO = 10pts
The sailors must have sailed a lot of seas, so for using the colour blue = 5pts.
Use a hand-made embellishment = 5pts
Use ink on your LO (eg stamped image, inked edges etc) = 5pts
Use eyelets and/or brads - 5pts

Liane

Actually I am so keen to get people to stop using plastic carriers I intend sewing until I run out of fabric - that might take a while LOL

I don't get plastic bags anywhere I go now (unless i forget to take my own bags, which I'm afraid I do sometimes). For my food shopping I have stocked up on the big strong hessian bags which hold so much more and are more comfortable to carry anyway. otherwise i always have a folding bag in my handbag and if I am going out for a spree I take extras. Only thing is I used to use my Tesco carriers as bin bags, so every so often I do stock up on them as they are biodegradable and lots of proper binbags still aren't.

I'm not a big green campaigner in other ways because i think a lot of what the 'scientists' tell us is a load of rubbish, but anyone can see that we're going to run out of landfill space soon, so recycling is important.

Only thing is I used to use my Tesco carriers as bin bags, so every so often I do stock up on them as they are biodegradable and lots of proper binbags still aren't.

To be biodegradable they have to be left in the sunlight and they can take over three years to degrade. If they are buried in landfill they do not degrade. A lot of plastic bags do not totally degrade anyway and they just break up into bite sized pieces, perfect for turtles and fish to seee and swallow instead of a jellyfish.

Since reading about plastic bags and how non degradable it really is I am determined to reduce the number of them on the earth. the best place for them is in the recycling bin at the supermarket where they are sent off and made into polar fleece.
Now all we need is a way to dispose of old polar fleece LOL

Liane
14-04-2008, 10:07 PM
They degrade quite quickly in my compost heap, where more than one has ended up by mistake! So they must still degrade in the dark and they are still better that black sacks.
Can't wear polar fleece, get static shocks off everything - sorry!

Hi everyone - sorry I've been so quiet lately. Having the kids home from school really does get in the way of life doesn't it :)

I'm off up to my MILs for the rest of the week to get some sewing done for my mum's wedding as my machine has decided to break down. Guess it's allowed to as it was my Nan's and apparently was made in 1953. Still it's the best machine I've ever used and I'd rather have that one than a new one anyday. So - probably no chalenge from me this week. Sorry :(

And Kezza - I so know what you mean about printer ink. I'm out too!! It's driving me crazy!

Good on you Ria! Have you had a date for your move yet?

I'm naughty with my plastic bags. Have a bootful of the bags for life, always forget to take them into the shop, and end up buying more ;)

Hope you have a fun day at the coast today Liane, weather should be good for it.

Malary, your nans' machine sure gave you a good run, built to last in those days, not like now. You'll have to post a pic of what you make.

I've hurt my back, can't sit for long, or walk far - am ok lying down though - so lots of tv and reading and not much housework :lol::lol:

but apparently the solicitor is just drawing up contracts now and is only waiting on one more thing ...something to do with the extension at the house...I guess it needs a guarantee or something of the work?

im a bit like that with bags, we have some of the BIG ikeas ones for shopping but I forget them more often than I remember lol
however if I do a little shop I have started not bothering with any bags, just pop it in the boot as is :)

That's the problem with a hobby like this we all have to start somewhere and use what we can get with the knowledge we have at the time.

Kezza happy to know you have food in the house now
Worked on my CJ most of yesterday but don't seem to have got very far still need to do the sign in page and my spread then I will be ready for posting :)

Liane got my Gogo kit yesterday too really pleased with it think I could do with the extra bits though do you know how to upgrade ???

Clancie it was suggested we all try to do 5 LOs each this month so we could get the bonus team points for 50 LOs but if we don't manage it then it really doesn't matter we can only do what we can do :)

Morning all. Well I have uploaded my LO to the house gallery but cannot add a link as i don't know how to:angry:I have been trying for the past 30 minutes or so but must give up for now as my hands are so shaky from using them too much on here, thats why i didnt do the journalling on the LO until my hands get steadier........................once in a blue moon!

Oh kezza I will send you a pm while i am thinking about it, i want to change my CJ title......................finally remembered what it was i wanted to do last week!

Hope to be back later

Pauline xxx

Clancie
17-04-2008, 01:13 PM
Well done you 2 - a couple more LO's to add to the pot. Pauline I will leave it to someone else to explain how to do a link - I tend to make things that are really quite simple sound mind-blowingly complicated  Will pm you my address in a mo too as I am underneath you on the cj list.
I have somehow gone off at a tangent and have been making snowflakes most of the morning. They were supposed to be my handmade part of the challenge - trouble is I had forgotten that I decided to do a pic in the end that has nothing whatsoever to do with snow!!! If I had a brain I would be dangerous.

Hi everyone :) Great los !
Have not been well today so i havnt done anything lol Thanks for the pm Pauline ive chaged the info on the first post. Is everyone ok to post thier first cj on the 1st of May ?
Pauline to link your picture you have to copy and paste the adress of the picture u want to show from the adress bar at the top. Then in the message box u type your message ,highlight the word u want to use to link to your gallery, then u click on the world with a paper click along the top of the box and paste yur picture adress into the box that comes up (delete the http first) then post the message...hope that helps :)

Hello everyone
Computer has been down for what seems like an eternity. I felt as though I has lost my right arm and have missed chatting to you all on here so much. I've got loads to catch up on.
I managed to finish my Dad's book for his 80th birthday with hours to spare. Will have to be more organised
I ended up doing an 8x8 album with 24 LO's in Whilst I have now given it to him I can't upload to the gallery - what will be the points for it?

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 10:00 PM
Hi Lesley glad to see your back :)I can only imagne what it would be like to not have the comp as this site is addictive lol

Here is the points guide for mini books :)
Minibooks, Sarabooks, etc and fully decorated exploding boxes – These are now worth a set amount of points rather than being treated as layouts. Each minibook, sarabook, accordion fold full album etc will be worth 50 points regardless of how many pages they have in them etc. You may not count pages in these books towards your monthly layout target. A 'mini book' is defined as a sarabook or similar, or any mini-album of smaller than 6x6.People do, however, need to use their discretion when submitting. A mini book represents a considerable amount of work. Consider what you have made and if, in terms of time, detail, embellishments, journalling etc it really does count for 50 points. For example, a tiny keyring mini book would not count for 50 points nor would a mini book left blank of pictures and journalling for people to fill in.

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 10:02 PM
It says they have to be smaller then 6 x 6 but i would just claim 50 points anyways as the work that went into will be worth those points :)

lelly
17-04-2008, 10:07 PM
Thanks Kezza - It was a huge amount of work so I am happy to claim that will add it to my points. Off to look at the weekly challenge - so much to do but so glad to be back

Liane
17-04-2008, 10:19 PM
Lesley - you get 10 points for every layout over 6x6, so if you did 24 8x8 layouts in an album, rather than it being a mini book, then you get the ten for each, don't you?

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 10:23 PM
Would it work out like that ? maybe i should ask scrapdolly !

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 10:27 PM
Have sent a message to scrapdolly asking her! That was a really good point LIane :)

lelly
17-04-2008, 10:29 PM
I've looked on the points list and it does state any LO over 6x6 is worth 10 points. I would feel guilty claiming all that as I know I did not put as much work into a 8x8 page as I do with the 12 by 12 . Saying that I have worked the best part of 5 full days and evenings on it and have stamped, journalled, matted phots made embellishments and decorated all the front of the album

lelly
17-04-2008, 10:32 PM
Loved the scrapagogo kit this month - I was a bit disapointed with the go 2 pieces as there did not seem much in it this month

lelly
17-04-2008, 10:33 PM
Let me know what scrapdolly says Kezza - any extra points for team would be great

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 10:34 PM
It would be brilliant Lesley if it was 10 points each one as that wuld complete our 50 los and give u 240 points :) Weve all got 50 points to go on for our cjs too :)

lelly
17-04-2008, 10:43 PM
You'll have to cal me last minute Lelly - Have only managed to cut the chipboard for my CJ - nothing else - well roll on the weekend cos I'll need to get it done as its CC the next weekend

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 10:48 PM

lelly
17-04-2008, 10:59 PM
Me neither. Have looked at the classed and the timetable tonight and got even more worried. I'll see what happens when it starts and if I don't think I can take part I won't. I need to keep enjoying my hobby not put myself under pressure to complete things - saying that there are a couple of the classes that look quite good. As long as you have a reasonable amount of tine to complete them - I wouldn't say I was the fastest scrapper in the world. Have you seen anything that interests you

secret-scrapper
17-04-2008, 11:13 PM
I keep looking but none of it is any clearer lol I havnt stocked up on stash for that weekend...but like u I won't take part if I don't think I can after all I wouldnt even be signed up if I hadnt of clicked that silly registration link lol
I couldnt see the time table and the non kit list still says its incomplete !

lelly
17-04-2008, 11:20 PM
the time table is underneath those main threads and again says not complete.
We might be pleasantly suprised
Any way off to bed now had a late night last night with the 80th birthday party for my dad - not that he will remember much of it. He has dementia and spent most of the night asking whose birthday it was. He could however relate to all the old photos I had found of him and was happily telling stories about the 'good old days'

That sounds good - I don't normally bother going to Greenford, so only visit Hobbycraft if I happen to be going near one, but they are worth a visit so I will make an effort to go there. We do shop in Woking every so often, so I'll have to make it every so more often!

18-04-2008, 07:13 PM
Everybody has different ways of doing things, all the CJs that have come to me so far have been very different - some have tags, some have stamped spaces for writing your name, etc. and others have paper shapes fixed down - I suppose that way they don't go missing, but I still quite like the idea of a removable tag.

Sorry to hear you';re feeling under the weather Kezza - have a nice easy weekend and get yourself feeling good again!

I've made the tags for my CJ - just out of the left over bits of page insert that I made my pages out of. I found some gorgeous paper to cover my CJ before I went away but forgot to order it so I'm just off now to see if it's still available. Sounds like everyone is getting on really well with theirs - I've done pretty much nothing else all week while I've been away.

Other that sew and sew and sew :) The outfits are coming along though - DD3 is finished all except the hemming and DD2 & 4 are done except for the lining so only me and DD1 to go now.

Love the layouts everyone - have left comments.

everyone seems very busy with other projects, painting, sewing, etc. Obviously Ann is still inundated with bags to sew as we haven't heard from her and I quite envy Krys being able to create lovely outfits, it's something I'd love to be able to do.

Lovely LOs everyone. Lesley your house is beautiful!

I'm still scrapping slacking . Have been shopping in Guildford today with the children - didn't come back with anything for me :( They managed to get lots though!

I liked the round pre-crop sketch too, have also got a mystery kit which is still in it's box (Comedy Kings one). It is quite nice actually - B&W, just need to get some funny pics to do something with it.

I seem to have been running like mad all week. I managed to sew a bit for one day but then all sorts of stuff happened and it is impossible to sew safely whith a three year old around. We went to the Monmouth Country fair yesterday and watched the Mounted Games Association and some Falconry and ferret racing and all sorts of good stuff, but it doesn't help to get through the pile of sewing.
Now (Friday actually) I have an order for a pirate shirt, britches, frock-coat, and a medieval lady's costume and a peasant tunic. This is for the local council for the guides to wear while they are showing people the Newport Ship. so they have to be finished as fast as possible.

All this while I am trying to move the sewing stuff out of the way to make my scrapping room in the little "fornow" room upstairs.

I managed to make an exploding box last night and I have now done the DLO to start my CJ. Covers done too and sign in so that is just waiting for Pauline to give me her address so I can send it on

OH OH if anyone wants a Ziplock bag to put their CJ in to keep it safer when you put it in the padded envelope then just send me your address. I bought a boxful at Costco the other week and they are the perfect size for up to about 8x8.

I am manageing to pop in and read the messages, just don't have much time to talk at the moment LOL

It was built around 1890 and have to say it was very run down when we we bought it - but I fell in love with it as soon as I walked in. Its been a long hard slog to do it up but worth it.
You should see the mess I make lol

I love old houses they have much more charachter than new ones. I bet it was worth it ! My parents house it quite old, but its in a terrace, they had an extension built on the back when they bought it about 40 years ago as there was an outside toilet lolIts great when u do a house up though as u can have it exactly how u want and u get to buy lots of new things lol

We have a dining room, except that it is now the scraproom, computer (x3) room, games consoles (loads of them) room, piano and saxophone and clarinet room, hamster home and probably more! It also has two old comfy chairs and a dining table and four chairs in it as well as a bureau and an old hall coat cupboard in it. It is actually quite difficult to move in there

Our house will be 100 this year, we are planning a party as we have no other occasions in the summer to celebrate and it seemed like a good excuse, plus we are nearly at the end of doing it up after ten years

That must be one big room you have there Liane lolAlthough games consoles dont take up too much space do they. I think it's great to have a party to celebrate the houses age ...any excuse for a party I say !!
Ria i'm sorry to hear the weather was so bad for u..I did keep my fingers and toes crossed tho so I don't know why.Am sure u had a great time though despite the great british weather !

Just had a pm from scrappybunny it said :
hiya, this is just the way a normal CJ works, so one person needs to 'host' it and they send me a PM like a normal CJ submissions (info in CJ forum)
hth
SB
Would anyone like to host it ? Or would u like me to ?!
The thread automatically starts again so u should be able to click on old thread and then go from there :)That will be our third thread this month lol

I'd rather not host it, but I'm sure you'd be able to even though you haven't done one before, because you know about the threads and everything Kezza
