Woohoo!! This month it's the return of...

The Sketch Month

Courtesy of the awesome Becky Fleck at Page Maps we have some of her recent Card Maps to play with. :)

You can do all three, or choose your favourite, but let's see those scraps getting used up with these fab sketches.

If at the end of the month there have been 10 or more cards posted here in this thread, then one lucky person will be chosen as a 'winner' and will receive a little goodie through the post courtesy of Julie at Scrapbooking Castle (http://scrapbookingcastle.co.uk/store/).

Happy creating! :D

OK, be gentle with me...first post and first card submission.

This is my take on the second template. Bit of a story....basically we are emigrating to oz in a couple of weeks and I'm making goodbye cards to send to our friends & family. Got another one to submit, but couldn't get something I needed for it at the shops today  Will get it tomorrow and get it finished.

Anyway...here's my card.....

Thank you for the comments ladies

They're nice....wonder if I'll get that clever
I am sure you will :-)

Love the kings and the rotation of the sketch but cant quite face thinking about Christmas yet

Jean Day - Not silly at all - I thought they were like cards with road maps on when I first read about them :-/ Now I dont know if this is a proper definition of a card map but they are effectively pictures which suggest where you can place things on your cards - the three little pictures attached to the first post are examples of them - some people call them 'maps' some people call them 'sketches'. I think they are a great way to get ideas on how to put differnt bits on a card - especially helpful when you are a relative novice like me or when you are in a hurry and inspiration is just not there!

Hope this helps and I have not confused!

Fantastic cards Eileen!! Love the embossing.

.......errrm, I have to own up, the frames come already embossed! It would be easy to do, it's just that I'm a sucker for anything with paisley on it, so I HAD to buy these! Actually they're quite versatile, especially for quick cards. They do other patterns too. But it is cheating, I know!

My attempt at map 2, lots of silver embossing going on here! Sorry about the poor quality scan I think my scanner bed needs cleaning!

Eileen C

That's cute!

At least your scanner works! More than mine does - it's convinced there is something stuck in the photo feed that I don't even use!

Here's two cards both based on the first sketch, the acetate one was taking longer to photograph than it did to make, so i gave up in the end.

Hi have I missed something? What is a sketch map never heard of it before?? Sorry to be thick been a long day....

It's like a pattern for making your card / page. It shows you where to put photos, papers etc. It's just a line drawing to show what goes where.
I'll show you tomorrow! Glad to see you have more posts. You are catching up with me!

Debbie

Annette, its KI lace cardstock. If you look on kats blog (http://koolkittymusings.typepad.com/) near the bottom of the page all her supplies are listed. Amazing stuff though eh.

Oh just seen this, yes KI lace cardstock all the way. It is ace! I know it can be done on the robo/Cricut to great effect, but I really love the quality of the paper and the colours they've used for some of the designs. I have a few more sheets of the stuff and I am using it very frugally, but the offcuts from a LO will be great for cards, even tiny snips are perfect! :)

I am hoping to use my apple lace cardstock in some way next. We shall see!

Nat has your new computer arrived yet? I have been following your blog ^_^

Mystik Nat
22-04-2008, 02:28 PM
Funny you should say that... there was a delivery this morning just before I had to leave for the dentist's! Estimated delivery between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. - delivered at 8:01. Not bad eh?

I shall be unpacking the boxes tonight and hoping that I can get online, then I need to see what the data damage is, and what's been salvaged from the old PC...

After that it's installation of a gazillion things! ^_^

And then, maybe then, I can update my blog with the meagre stuff I've created since the "blackout".

Ok, a bit late, but having done several for two of the sketches, I was determined to do the second one too! So, some lovely little brackets arrived in a stash box today, and barely pausing to stroke them, here they are incorporated into a card!

Sorry about the slightly blurry photo, but it's dark, and this is better than the glare from the slightly reflective red paper if I use the flash!
