I have a missing relative who is doing a great job at thwarting my every move to locate him! Here is what I've found so far:

His name is Edgar Sharpe and I have his marriage certificate to an Agnes Ellen Parr, that marriage took place in Keighley, West Yorkshire on April 13th 1918.

On there he is listed as being 20, a bachelor and in the Army Ordnance Corps.

His residence is given as Shoreham Camp, Sussex.

His father's name is John Sharpe and he is down as a warehouseman.

only other potential piece of evidence is a Mary Ann Cryer (not entirely sure on handwriting here) who I've not found in other records. Could potentially be a relative on his side but could easily be a friend as well!

Any help would be highly appreciated!

You haven't made it clear what you are asking us for.

Are you trying to trace his movements after he was married? Or before? Or something else?

Where did you find the name Mary Ann Cryer - on his marriage cert? Or somewhere else?

Sorry, I'm trying to find him before his marriage to trace his line back further. Mary Ann was a witness on his marriage certificate.

I wonder what you've already tried that is "thwarting my every move to locate him!"
Have you tried looking him up on the 1901 census to see if you can trace him on that?
A very quick search for an Edgar Sharpe of approximately the right age brings up 2 or 3 possibles - one is in Keighley so I'd be starting right there to check the details!
If you are interested in the Mary Ann - consider if she could be his wife's sister or his own married sister?

I suppose you have to try to find a birth certificate for an Edgar Sharpe born about 1898 (plus or minus a few years!) whose father was called John. With such common names I imagine this could be tricky unless you can narrow it down to a particular geographical area.

The 1901 census might help you too: he would be aged only about 3 and so his parents would probably still be alive.

Knowing the names of any siblings or Edgar's mother's name can be helpful in identifying possible people, especially if they have an unusual name.

Have done a search and can find no Edgar Sharpe in the 1901 census with a father called John. I have found an Edgar Sharpe born in 1898 in Wangford Suffolk, his father is William J. Sharpe and Mother Bertha, the father originated from Grimsby. If think this could be of help let me know and I can send you paperwork.

Does the marriage cert - give any other christian names for Edgar - if not ths is possibly his birth:

Births Dec 1897
Sharpe Edgar Skipton 9a 37

if there is a second name that would help track him down on the censuses. of course he might have lied about his age!

Just had a look on the family trees section of ancestory and there is a family tree for Agnes Ellen Parr married to Ernest Sharpe. Is it yours? If it isn't then there's a picture of Agnes and also one of where she lived.
