View Full Version : January Week 3 - Scrappy Cats Challenge
Kat the Cobbler
21-01-2008, 09:43 AM
Welcome to the Scrappy Cats weekly challenge
In 1924 the first Winter Olympic games opened in Chamonix, France.
So as a theme for your layout choose one of these aspects of Olympic games:
Courage or Strength,
Love or dedication (all athlete have a love and dedication to their particular sport),
Home or country = 10 pts
Use glitter on your photograph (can be any colour) to represent snow/ice = 5pts
To represent the downhill skiing or toboggan use a full length strip of paper or spiral (doesn't have to be white) = 10 pts
And because all the athletes are stars put at least one star on your LO = 5pts.
Good luck and have fun!!!
Here's our layouts

Hi folks my link above will not work I have had to remove it as I modified the LO slightly to incorporate a glitter star on the photograph, but for some reason it kept going back to the original LO. So here is the link to my interpretation
OK it is working now

Thanks for the challenge - I really needed it today. I'm home from work with bronchitis so feeling lousy - meanwhile my little bengal cat is dying from a horrible cat virus called FIP. She has been a real little fighter all through the illness so this LO is about her courage. She is also the most loving cat we have ever had - so it's also about love.

Now you've told us I can see it is checked paper. When you look at it it looks as if you've painstakingly put tiny drops of glitter glue or something similar on it.

24-01-2008, 09:12 PM
Well this dictionary thinks so!
Definitions of brave on the Web:
* possessing or displaying courage; able to face and deal with danger or fear without flinching; "Familiarity with danger makes a brave man braver ...
* a North American Indian warrior
* audacious: invulnerable to fear or intimidation; "audacious explorers"; "fearless reporters and photographers"; "intrepid pioneers"
* brightly colored and showy; "girls decked out in brave new dresses"; "brave banners flying"; "`braw' is a Scottish word"; "a dress a bit too gay for her years"; "birds with gay plumage"
* people who are brave; "the home of the free and the brave"
* weather: face or endure with courage; "She braved the elements"

Great LO 's working my way through looking at everyones
Cassia can see the twinkling of the pen so def points fine with me
Does the glitter have to be on the actual photo? Tried doing that on mine, but it looked naff (the theme doesn't fit with that) so have had to carefully pull the photos off the LO and reprint them. I have a self-glittered embellishment elsewhere on the LO but don't know if I can count the points?

when we set the challenge we wanted to see how you could use glitter on your photos, we never wanted it to be to easy:ph34r:, all the examples do have glitter on photo, why not try glittering an embellie and putting it on your photo

Just wanted to check, as some of those already posted weren't glitter on photo. Embellishment on photo won't work for mine either, so I'm just going to claim 25 points.
(I did intially try putting glitter on the photos, but it really didn't look right so I had to pull the photos off -- not easy with DSST -- and reprint them)
