Same here, although I use Zest-It rather than Sansodor.
Once I can get myself all sorted, I'll hopefully be using my new Copic markers too. Oh and the Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder crayons - have started collecting those, and they work beautifully.
Another favourite is the Colorbox Queue Fluid Chalk and Pigment ink pads, used with a waterbrush.

I've just got a limited number of copics and I'm quite impressed with them as a change from prismas. Massive range of colours! I've been looking at the stampin up markers but did wonder about the watercolour crayons. What are they like? Ever used the markers?

I use Caran D'Ache Supracolour watercolour pencils. I bought a set of 18 to try, just before Christmas in the sale at WHS. I was so impressed with the high pigment content, they are so smooth to use and the colours really pop when you use a damp paintbrush on them. Very easy to blend and shade with them too, I found an online art store that sells all 120 colours individually, so I've added quite a few more colours to my collection since then - skin and hair tones especially.

I got some Copics for Christmas and the airbrushing system which I have yet to play with. Love the way the Copics work though, definitely impressed!
I've not used the SU markers, no. The watercolour crayons I have one set of at the moment, and they are lovely and creamy to work with.

It's a Tombo ABT N00 one, I got it about 6 years ago and it still works!!!
Thanks for the super fast delivery, I ordered Monday and got them today, hence I had to stamp already!!!:D

i love the whisper pens too:) I also picked up a pack of 2 blending pens by whispers which i use when i dont want to get the sansador out or want a change. really nice altho it sometimes takes abit of the card off if i get lazy.
love the book, cards and calendar from the old thread:wub:
forgot to say that i love that the blending pen is just like the whisper pens and has a supa fine tip as well as the thick/brush tip

I have a "water blending pen" its green - dont know the make - but too much water comes out of it and messes up my paper.
Talking of which - what type of card do you stamp/paint onto?? I found most bog standard card stuck just breaks up the minute I start getting it damp! Is this just the pen - or should I be using a better cardstock?
And I'm such a twit - I have a set of water colour paints from many moons ago sitting in my cupboard - I could use these to "colour in" couldn't I !!! Durr!! Although I think I need some new brushes first!!
Lol you lot make me giggle, thanks for that, lol
I use Prismacolor pencils with sansador (which I just got) as already have zest it, am trying them both out to see which I prefer.
I am going to be investing in some Copic Ciao markers soon though as somebody mentioned a great shop that you can buy them online in the UK and they are a super price. I do have about 12 of the Stampin Up markers, and have to say I like those as well. I also use watercolour pencils but do prefer my Neocolour II watercolour crayons of which I have a about 10-12 different colours, but these are just gorgeous.

For watercolours I use the Koi aqua brushes - they are the best I've found so far.
For watercolouring I use either the card I get from Paper Mill, or actual watercolour paper - Partners the Stationer do some of their own brand watercolour pads that work really well and aren't overly expensive.

At the moment, WHS are doing pads of Daler Rowney watercolour card at £4.99 for 50 sheets. It's lovely stuff - 250gsm and nice and thick. And the good thing is that because it is 12x9 inches, rather than A4 size, you can make matching square 6x6 card blanks from it as well.
Shary your door hanger is gorgeous-love the whole layout of it

Is anyone else having problems with the ink smearing using stazon, prismas & sansodor?? It seems to be particularly noticeable on the faces. Is there another ink pad I could use??
Theresa
22-01-2008, 10:52 PM
I have just ordered up the versafine black onyx one to try out Peggie, my Stazon is worn out so have been using a Palette hybrid in black so far which has been ok.
Inky Angel
22-01-2008, 11:08 PM
Peggiey,
Staz-On is spirit based and Sansador is a spirit solvent so they can't be usd together without smudging. A dye based ink pad is better :)

Ooh, they're gorgeous Lori:wub:
I use Versafine onyx black when I'm using my prismas as it's quick drying but will have to try TH as I've got a few of them anyway.
For anyone looking for Versafine I have seen them in WH Smiths craft section (obviously not the cheapest but may be worth it if you're desperate!)

I did this card for the Tilda and Co challenge blog with TH Black Soot and the image I'm colouring in was done with TH Old Paper. Managed to get a nice stamp from both, despite the ink pads being quite "wet' and no smudging!
Lori these are stunning would love to know what you used to do the black and white one, I love this look.
My first Magnolia proper.

Was quite please with the colour of whispers pen for the skin. The little notebook came from Smiths for 49p.
Details,as always, on my bloggie (http://web.mac.com/fionadickinson/Fifi-Ts/Cardmaking_Blog/Entries/2008/1/22_Things_Best_Remembered_Book.html).

I only have the pastel set of 12. I used the very pale beige in the set, annoyingly there are no names on them but when I get home I will see if there is a number.

If you're buying them from the sponsors they come ready mounted. You can just stick them on your acrylic block then peel them back off like clear stamps. HTH

Lisa, I just used different shades of grey prismas for the black and white card. Just took a bit of patience to build up all the different shades!

Hi Everyone - my first post on this thread and I just wanted to say all your cards are just stunning!
Shary - that cards is AMAZING!
I received my first 2 tildas yesterday (thanks to Bryony for getting them to me so quickly!) and I'm addicted already - been stamping and colouring all day! they're all HERE (http://scraphappylou.blogspot.com/search/label/magnolia%20stamps) on my blog if you want to take a look.
Not too sure on my colouring technique yet - so any tips are very welcome!

Your cards looks great Lou- really bright and eye catching. Stampincaz has a wee tutorial for colouring with watercolours on her blog and theres a tutorial from Inge using prismacolours but both have the sort style and would probably work with most colouring mediums. I'll see if I can hunt down links for them!

Edwin is stamped on the card and tilda is cut out. When mounting, her legs and hand without the snowball are direct stuck to the card. Her body head and hand with snowball are mounted on pads it gives it real depth which is not picked up on that picture.

tried Magnolia site, thought I pay using Paypal because it would be quicker as I don't need to re-enter my details........ I got the order confirmation but the payment via paypal cannot be taken because of an error on THEIR receiving address.... I don't want to re order in case they want to charge me again, so I emailed them requesting a payment request, still waiting.

Unfortunately paypal and Magnolia don't go well together! You get your order much quicker if you pay by credit card apparently! I did use paypal with them- the paypal payment bit doesn't work so they'll send you out an invoice at some point (2 weeks later for me) and thenabout another month after that I got my stamps! So it does work, it just takes a while!
Customer service isn't great with them but if you did re-order they can't charge you twice with paypal as its all done by invoice so you'd just have to decline one of the invoices.

ally, magnolia release the stamp club kits 2-3 monthly- you get lots of new magnolia stamps, at a better price than buying them seperately. Some of the kit stamps will be available seperately later on.
nestabilities are dies made buy spellbinders (the people who do the wizzard) they "nest" in each other to give graduated shapes.... the scallops are yummy!! you get different shapes eg circle, rectangle etc plain and scalloped.

Hi everyone!!
fabby card marlene, lovely soft colours, yummy paper weaving. thanks for the sketch.
donna, you can only get the stamp club from magnolia..... still waiting for paypal invoice for christmas one:rolleyes:  i got most of the ones i wanted from the kit seperately from karen(funky kits) and bryony(silly monkey crafts) wish magnolia would let retailers sell the club kits, at least they're reachable.
remembered to take photo's of cards at last!! they're in their packets soo please excuse the glare.

Good news... i ordered some stamps direct from magnolia site on 24th jan and they were delivered (to my neighbor getting really fed up with new postie!) a couple of days ago. thats pretty fast by my standards so have bitten the bullet and ordered some of the new range from them direct. lovin edwin with roses and tilda with cross (kids go to catholic school).
i am interested in the stamp club but can't get their web link to work. anyone else been successful?
loved the card with the flower border its really gorgeous and dimensional
thanks, donna

They are so hit and miss it is annoying! 3 weeks and still waiting - grrrr!
I always say each order will be the last one but then they release more gorgeous stamps!
Good luck Donna - I hope they are as fast with this order

Nic, Adorable card!!! How many different magnolia stamps do you lot have!!???????
Can anyone give me a link to the magnolia main site please. I know it will be a mistake - cos if I see ALL the stamps available I will be even MORE likely to make us bankrupt!!

ok I'll come clean. Since Dec '07 first time discovering them I have 28. If that isn't bad enough I have 20 on order and waiting since the first day updated the site a week ago and am waiting for them to update it again as an order will go in for Feb.
I have fallen for these stamps hook line and sinker. I love the ones from 2006ish on, the earlier ones don't do it for me.

to be honest, if i had seen the stamps on sale in craft shop i would deffo have walked straight past them. but after seeing everyones fab creations i ordered a few...was completely bowled over by how good the stamped image was and have since ordered loads.
they are most definitely addictive. would also like to say that it has refired my more artistic side ( if i have one) and love of card making, so THANKS!
by the way - how do you store them all?
angeljakki
01-02-2008, 02:43 PM
I have a A5 polyfile and have them in that. grouped in themed bags.
I had drifted away from stamping but then I saw the magnolias and that was it like I say its only the ones from a certain period so its the artists work that I does it for me.
Even though I kind of like the troll ones great for hillbilly cards and bikers look like right rascals.
