Welcome to January Week 1 Challenge (07/01)

Set by the RikRak Ravers.

We decided to go for something simple for our challenge. As a team we love sketches and it wouldn't be a RikRak Ravers Challenge without a bit of RikRak.

Use the sketch provided 10pts
Use something new 5pts (this can be stash or toy)
Use 3 patterned papers 5pts
Use ribbon, rikrak or stitching (real or fake) 5pts
A doodle 5pts

Haven't done one for a while - love working from a sketch. I think a couple of challenges lately have been quite "challenging" in the number/type of elements to include. Not all of them have been my cup of tea but its a good job we are all different.

Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the challenges, it's just not a particular persons thing.

Contrived - unrealistic, unconvincing, not genuine, not natural.????I dont get it.

Boring - as in uninspiring, I get.we dont all have the same tastes.:nono:

although that doesnt apply here, I am speaking in general.


Perhaps those that agree with the above description of the weekly challenges would like to put forward some suggestions.:) Me, although i dont always get around to doing them, appreciate that people have taken the time to set up the challenges.:D

So we come to Challenge - Yes its a challenge SO, if you find it not quite your cup of tea, isnt the challenge then to see what you can do to interpret the guidelines to suit your style.

I painted the letters and then applied Glamour Dust to the wet paint. Wonderfully messy. I loved the stitching bit as well. I love doing stitching on my LOs as I think it adds a bit of extra dimension to an otherwise flat layout. Many thanks for the great challenge.

First time doing a weekly challenge for ages but absolutely adored this sketch!

Used the sketch
Used something new (well photos of DD with Christmas pressie so very recent photo, I don't collect points so give me a little leeway on this okay :D)
Used ribbon - a little bit at the joins of the pp's
Use 3 patterned papers (actually used 4 and they were double sided so huge cheat on this one!)
Used doodling - very basic dots around the small circle plus Stickles dots around the scalloped edge die cut and Stickles/penwork around the left edge of the photo.

Really enjoyed doing this and used these papers which I know my DD will absolutely adore!

Just managed to upload my LO (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=146861&nocache=1)- think it must have been problems here with internet but would not load - just managed to get it to upload to gallery.... think need DH to check it out when he gets home. My email keeps receiving up to 6 out of 15 emails, then starts again!! So far I think I have had the same emails about 10 times!! LOL!! Still not got numbers 7 to 15!!!
