Hello everyone.
As its soon the new year I was thinking of doing one of the challenges from Elsie's book each week. Or just discussing the challenge.

Has this been done before? (I did search but couldn't see any threads)

Would anyone else be interested in it?

I think something similar has been done, however I'm always up for it as I missed most of it last time. So go ahead!

Oooh, it seems like something similar is running here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=172141). I missed this one completely! Wouldn't mind if it ran again so I could join in this time!

Oh yes, I've seen Emily Falconbridge's thread. I was thinking of doing the Elsie Flannigan ones from her book, so yes, similar.

I would love to have a go but don't have the book - would I need it??

Gemma UK

Would I get in trouble for copyright if I re-told what the challenge was?

It really is a lovely book if you have room on your christmas list.

Oops, sorry. Somehow I saw "Emily Falconbridge" and read Elsie Flannigan on that thread. LOL. I woiuld love to do an *Elsie* one as I have the book, I have done one or two of her challenges but not quite found the time to do anymore of them!

Jo, her book is definitely a good one to have. I don't find it 'readable' as such, but it has some great challenges and loads of inspiration... and it's not all her work either; she has LO's made by quite a number of other people in there too!

I started the Emily Falconbridge one but gave up - ATCs are not really me I don't think.

i would also like to do this in the new year:)

Gemma UK
10-12-2007, 05:11 PM
Elsie Flannigans are all LO's and like Anthea wrote she includes other peoples work too.
I used her #1 challenge for the week 1 team challenge. Although that challenge is something loads of people do anyway.

my ears have just pricked up when I saw ATC's - I'd really like to do more - where can I see the site/blog??? which you are all referring to?

THANKS

If you click on Antheas link you will find the thread - not sure where the original thread is but there will be a link to her blog somewhere.

Here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=148596) is the original thread to the Emily Falconbridge challenge, on that are the blog links.

Elsie Flannigans blog is A beautiful mess (http://www.abeautifulmess.typepad.com/)
The book is called 52 Scrapbooking Challenges, I'm pretty sure some UKS sponsors have it.

do we have to get Elise book to do this challenge or is there another way??

Gemma UK
16-12-2007, 09:20 PM
I have no problems quickly listing the challenges, but I dont want to get in copyright trouble. The book is very nice, lots of LO's and tips. Not a chatty book ( like Ali Edwards) but very colourful and great to get he inspiration ticking,if you dont like all of her style there are definitely bits to take from it.

I hope Santa delivers!!

When is best for everyone who is intrested? One thread updated each week? Monday? Then it could work in with the weekly team challenge?

What does everyone else perfer?

jo.bee
23-12-2007, 10:34 AM
I'm easy - although I don't have the book and I don't think Santa will be leaving it under my tree either!

To start at week one, on a monday, its new years eve. I dont mind posting then afterall it runs every week so playing catch up isnt a problem.
How does that sound?

This sounds like a good idea. I've had the book for a year but havent really done anything from it yet.

Rain
23-12-2007, 07:34 PM
ooh can I join in? I've had the book for ages but not really looked at it for a long time. I could use some inspiration at times. Sometimes I feel all my LO's get a bit samey ( if that's the right word?)

jo.bee
23-12-2007, 08:47 PM
Jo, have you been a naughty girl then:nono:

No - I didn't ask for it as I knew DH wouldn't get it for me! Will have to track down a copy in the new year.

Emmak
23-12-2007, 09:00 PM
I'd be up for this. I've had the book for over a year now and I've still not done any of her challenges so this might actually prompt me to get started.

Re the copyright: I know that the 2 peas website had an Elsie 52 challenges thread (or it may have been an Ali Edwards challenge, but either way it was based on someone's book). as long as you are not copying her los on to here - which you won't be, I think it's ok.

Gemma UK
24-12-2007, 09:41 AM
Ok then, I shall kind of copy it out then, I'm sure if I give reference to Elsie as the author I'll be alright.

Righty then, I best get my book ready.
Shall we stay on this thread or start a new one?

alison1544

Of course you can join in! The more the merrier.
I sent an email just outlining what we wanted to do and if it was ok. I hope we get a reply.
I love her blog, I love the colourful pages she produces. She has a new man in her life too, so its going to be fun to see the difference in her LO's.

I found a U.S site that has them for $9.99 but the postage is like $25.00 still that works out much cheaper then £67.00...will see what I can find this side of the pond first though.

I thought that after reading Ali Edwards book, the fact that life is life and not everything should be perfect and poised. So having pictures of family members with tongues out or hiding behind their hands still make for good pages, and once they see them they may start being a bit more co-operative! I have loads of pictures on my computer that I really should use, after all they tell a story too.

I'm terrible - if its new then I think that I NEED it!!

:lol::lol:... I think I have a thing for Totes at the moment... I have 2 Big Blue Art-2-Go totes... a new Papermania Wheelable tote & Accessory tote and also the original Papermania Hand tote all in purple:ph34r:

One of the Art-2-Go totes has a slight tear where it has popped away from the zip at top of a side pocket so may advertise it in the MarketPlace at a reduced price as i've only used it a few times but really don't need 3 totes:P:lol:

Just noticed this thread. Am I too late to join in? I got this book for my birthday in October and had decided to give it a go for the new year. Doing it alongside others on here would make it so much more fun!

Oh this is getting exciting! I will start on Wednesday too as I am having a party tomorrow. Hopefully we will get a gallery just for us and I think a new thread will come automatically as soon as we hit 250 posts, right?

You mean a buttery - a heart attack on a plate.

One saying that still confuses me is the "back of 9" when telling the time. I think it means just gone 9 o'clock - but after 7 years up here I'm still not sure!
