Swindon Scrapaholic December chat

So here we are, the last month of 2007! Here's a summary of this month's activities:

Club dates are:

Saturday 1st December, 9.30am – 1.00pm
Monday 10th December, 7.00pm – 9.40pm

Everyone is welcome, please just let me know if you wish to book a place. Details re: venue, costs, future dates etc can be found here (http://www.scrapaholic.co.uk/main.php?page=Club-Swindon).

Crop on the 1st

Your chance to scrap and chat. We are at Holy Trinity Church in Shaw for this session (and this session only!) as our usual hall is booked.

Class on the 10th

At last the Christmas kits we pre-ordered way back in September are here! In it there is a 7Gypsies handbag album kit, 5 sheets of Basic Grey Perhaps patterned paper, flowers and brads. The themes for this kit are endless..... :D You can see my album in the first 2 thumbnails and then one of my favourites which is by the Stockton club.

For those that have joined us since the kits were pre-ordered, we'd still love you to come along and work on your own projects.

There will be mince pies and mulled wine on the 10th as this is our last session of 2007. Our dates for January are 12th and 28th.

We're going to do another CJ starting on January 12th 2008. Here are the themes:

Trudy - Follow that sketch
Mary E - I wish....
Wendy - My world - and welcome to it
Jan - tbc
Karen - Animals
Julie - Favourite holiday
Janet - Simple pleasures

If you would like to join please let me know. All you need to do is choose a theme, make your book and have your entry completed and ready for the first handover on Saturday 12th January. We will have a list of popular themes and examples of the CJ books at both the December sessions.

The handovers will be at each session, so approx 2 weeks apart. If you are unable to attend a session you must arrange to pass your CJ to the next person and collect your CJ from the previous person in a timely manner so the handovers are not delayed.

well Sandie we have had the TV replaced in the last couple of months as the tube went and DH can't do with out a TV:nono: and my hair dryer burnt out last week, have to use a travel one but have found DD old one :blink:

Yes, I am still alive - barely it feels at the moment but still alive. I crashed my new iMac (don't ask!!!) and have had no computer for almost 3 weeks and internet access has been sparodic to say the least.

uuurrrrghhhhhh feeling really rank again today and have to go bowling tonight with the preschool peeps. I organised it, I'm the chair, I feel I have to go........ will be straight to bed when I get home though I can tell you!

Not sure why there isn't a December kit gallery on the scrapaholic forum. Might be because some clubs are having a party and not actually doing their kit until January - whereas we are multi-tasking! Will double check and get back to you. In the meantime I found this one from Chepstow....

I have had the results of the blood test and that has come back negative so I am fit so it must be psychological perhaps now I will relax and stop worrying and be able to sleep better.

Great LO Mary, I bought a zip not long after I first started scrapping and I have still to use it on a LO. Another thing I must get round to!

We've been into town this morning - I know we are mad but promised Liam a ride on the bus plus I wanted to see if we could get a visit to Santa, which we did in Debenhams so both boys very happy and excited now :wub:

Not going out again today though - got to give my room a good tidy up as I have loads of archive boxes from work and the mess from my Christmas cards to sort out. Mary, I could give you a run for your money in the craft room stakes at the moment :lol: ;)

Miserable weather today and I do have to go to Borders, I bought a book for My DSIL and discover now that he already has it. Helen couldn't find it the first time I asked. good job I still have the receipt.

Snooker, never floated my boat but my family used to watch it on a b&w telly - now that is boring :lol: Trudy was over at Snazzys in the week as well. Think Val is planning on moving most of the stock over between xmas and new year, then having a new year sale in the old place while they get set up probably in the new one. Cold again today - Dave is out with his friend and their remote control cars (that's dedictaion for you) and when he gets back we are hoping to wrap the boys up and get Liam out on his bike again.

Well we offered someone the accounts admin job at preschool today and they accepted so I am very relived that that is all done now. I need to find someone to do the base of the new playhouse that we are getting done in the February half term - can anyone recommend a reliable builder/odd job man who would be able to do that? We are tied by the dates so I do need someone who will be there when they say they will be! Looking to get quotes this week if poss so we can order everything straight after the New Year.

What you knitting then? The only knitting I have done since leaving school was a hooded top for my niece when I was stuck in hospital for 3 weeks waiting for Joe. Took me about 4 days non stop - she wore it for a month then had a growth spurt and it didn't fit anymore..... still, passed the time :rolleyes:

If you're fingers are hurting too much you probably have your tension too tights, try to loop the wool round the needle a bit looser and the stitches will move a lot easier...... ark at me, sounding all knowledgeable :lol: :lol:

I have had to wake him up every day this week..... as we don't have to get up for pre-school or playgroup I have been letting him catch up on some zzzzzzz's. He obviously needs it but if I let him sleep past 9 it really messes up breakfast etc :rolleyes: And I still want him to go to bed at 7.30pm :lol:

I am here at my DDs puter managed to remember my password so was able to log on.
Had a diabolical journey because of the theft of signalling cables we were turfed off the train at Derby told there would be coaches to take us on to Sheffield but not enough arrived eventually back on train to a very crowded and elongated continuation of the journey as each train had to be radio signalled on in turn so was waiting in a stack for prob half hour. Some kind man let me have his seat for which I was extremely grateful as by this time my back was beginning to give out on me. Arrived here 3 hours late but at least I am here now and it was so good to see them all. Took Daniel in my arms and got a little smile from him almost right away. He is such a bonny lad now though he does have some nasty exma (sp) on his face and arms.

I saw Selena today and her MIL had a nightmare journey up to Darlington - also having to get off in Derby! Glad you got there safely in the end.

Try not to worry too much about the eczema on Daniel - Liam flares up regularly and was worse as a baby. The winter is always worse as it is cold and windy outside, hot and dry inside.... has Helen talked to her Health Visitor or Doctor? We got some good bath oil and cream from ours (all on prescription), once it is under control a bit it is easier to keep at bay. {{hugs}} to you all - have a fab time together! :wub:

Morning All

Having a great time. Yesterday we managed to get up to the Rec from there we can overlook the whole of Skipton parts of which were hidden in the mist which made for good photos (or at least I hope they will be good not downloaded them yet) should have a brilliant one of Danny asleep in the sling in which Helen was carrying him. It only takes about 5 mins to get to the Rec so he fell asleep very quickly. From there we descended to the canal and walked along there for a while until completing the circuit back home.
In the evening we managed to get to the Candlelight service at the Lovely Anglican Church at the bottom of the town.

here is todays card not so impressive but took for ever to do. :lol:

Dave always seems to blur them but I am really hacked off as it is perfect shot of Liam's first time sitting on it giving us the thumbs up...... I've had a fiddle in photoshop but to no avail, I'm not that up to speed with it. Any ideas how I can crispen it up?

I could probably fiddle with it but it is all according to how blurred it is as to whether I can make it better. If you email the full size photo to me I will have a go for you.

That would be great Mary. TBH I do love the photo anyway, and so if it can't get any better I will scrap the blurred on - still shows his excitement which is the main thing. I'll email it over now.

I did indeed have a great time and I have so many photos they will keep me going for quite a while I also had lots of stash so will be doing some IRL ones for a while. Still have a Christmas present to come Neil & Gemma are taking me to see Lion King. in London next saturday. so probably be scrapping photos from then on the 12th.

I'll have a look and see if I can do anything but it is quite badly blurred so may not be able to.

Hello everyone :D

All very poorly here with colds. Just about managed to hold for Christmas day and my mums visit the day after Boxing day but now we are all coughing, spluttering and all sorts of horrible dreaded lurgy spreading all over the house!!!

However, my DH, bless him, bought me a fab wacom tablet for Christmas and I have been busy beavering away at the computer and have done a total of 3 - YES, you read correctly! - 3 digital LOs in the last 2 days here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=145094&cat=500&ppuser=261) and here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=145103&cat=500&ppuser=261) (will upload the 3rd one later).

I've been sitting on the fence re the whole digi vs trad debate for a while now but the other night I had a sort of revelation and have decided that the majority of my LOs will be done the digi route - it's so much quicker, easier, not to say tidier option and I can finally start to feel that I am getting somewhere. But I will still trad scrap my favourite photos/digi LOs so that I still keep up with the whole 'social' aspect of scrapping - so I will be coming to crops! :lol:

Oh, and I've also decided to actually start to USE the stash I have - and it is mountainous - by making cards (which I can also do at crops!).

Off now to take some more day/night nurse... Happy 2008 to one and all!
