I've been asked about this situation and for some way to allow templates sellers to advertise on UKS.
What we did in the past, with TLC consultants (which we stopped cause it was a bt of a nightmare to administer) is we allowed people to pay a nominal fee, much lower than full UKS sponsorship, which would be pointless for sellers selling 10, 20 designs a month for just a few £ each, and which limited the ways in which they could "sell" on UKS. Obviously we have to consider the interets of our primary sponsors, who pay for the running of the site, so what I have come up with is this:
We could perhaps offer a limited sponsorship, within the CR forum, like what Sandy has for her tutorial video site. The people who came on board would pay a nominal fee (lss than £2 a month - I was thinking something like £20 a year) for which they would be entitled to advertise within the CR forum only. We would add a post that included a link to their template site. UKS would take no (ZERO) % of the sales, and would not administer the sales - each person would have to set up a blog or a shop. These sponsors would be limited to selling cards and CR templates ONLY - ie not general scrapbooking suppplies as that would not be fair to sponsor shops which pay a much higher fee per year to be able to advertise on UKS. I think we could expand this to include the card sellers (and card sellers only - same rules, no general scrapping supplies can be sold for the reasons already stated) in the Cradmaking forum as well.
I need to check with Smax to be sure that creating a seperate user group for mini-sponsors is do-able.
The rules as they stand now are that you may not have a link to your blog on UKS if that blog sells. So if you are doing that now, that is a no-no.
I'm not going to expend a lot of energy on this if there is no interest :) And the other requirement would be that sellers still contribute free templates for this site regularly - not one a day, but a few a month, on the honor system. What I don't want is to attract people here for cheap advertising without them being willing to contribute to UKS and the members! Like with regular sponsors, a link back to UKS from the shop or blog would be part of it.
So have a think about that idea and LMK what you think. It was the best idea I had - if you have another one, so long as it does not include UKS collecting money from sales or being involved in the selling process in any way, I am open to your suggestions!
