Scrapaholics have been going since 2001 and when we began I saw this logo that faded and thought it would be a good idea to do it with scrapbook pages. Little did I know what a nightmare it would be for my web guy! So I have decided that we need a new logo which is more in style with the Scrapbooking market of 2007 (although I know we are soon to be in 2008 – gulp!) I looked at various companies that design logos and even tried a few out but they just don’t “get” what we do so then I got to thinking that there are lots of really talented designers within our Scrapbooking community so why not try them. So I am setting a competition to design the new Scrapaholic logo, the prize will be a place on the Bumper weekend at Newport Pagnell in August 2008. This is a 3 night & 3 full days scrapbooking retreat worth £340 or you could opt for £100 in cash if you can’t make the weekend. There will be a couple of runner up prizes too!

The closing date will be 29th October at 6pm – the winner will be announced by 31st October by email and a notice will be put on UKS with a sample of the winning logo.

For the web: ideally I want a small logo that can be displayed in the top left corner of my site (like UKS), with dimensions no larger than 200 wide by 100 deep. However a logo should be reusable for any purpose. To achieve this, this logo needs to have the following characteristics:
• A white or transparent background with well defined edges. This means that the logo should NOT have a fade to white like the existing logo.
• The logo should have a colour and a black and white version. You should be able to use the same logo on printed material, t-shirts etc
• The logo should scale well; it should look good as a small web logo, on a business card or on a wall-sized poster.
• A logo should not be over complex or over drawn. Simple logo's are easy to remember.
• The logo should be provided in a scalable format e.g. a vector Photoshop file, not as a JPG image.
Please submit your entry by email to begin with, if you win then you will need to supply a hard copy on disc so as to retain the size/format etc. Please email to sarah@scrapaholic.co.uk ensuring you have your full name and phone number in the email – please put Logo Comp in the subject heading.
Anything I've missed out please let me know.
Happy designing and good luck!
