There seems to be some discussion as to whether we can claim extra points for our team for doing the Monthly house challenge
I thought we could only claim 10 for a SLO & 20 for a DLO but others are saying we can claim 50 pts for our individual teams. please can you clarify this for me
There are no additional points for doing the House Challenge layouts.

hiya Kat - just for October you can claim 50 points for this project - there is a full list of CC points up in the CC forum :D

Is it safe to upload to our house the LOs for November. I see that although we were told that Sept would be cleared when we started posting Oct they were not and now there is both Sept & Oct still in the house galleries.
Yep, you can upload.
I do try and wait for everyone to move their layouts, and then have to delete the ones that are left when I get the chance after the 1st of the month :)

ok just a quickie I have made a book (like with the bind it all thingie) 6x6 with 32 full pages (as a gift for a friend) now i take it its larger than a mini book ye? so do i claim for 33 LOs in the team points
would hate to cheat so need to verify
I'd say 6x6 was a mini book and therefore worth 50 points but will need to speak to Scrapdolly :)
scrapdolly
28-11-2007, 02:47 PM
You can class 6 x 6 as layouts - just use your own discression that they stand up to being called layouts IYSWIM.
If in doubt class it as a mini book

i know the points for an exploding box, but will a pyramid exploding box count the same point????
scrapdolly
29-11-2007, 09:52 PM
yup just the same as long as it is fully decorated and finished - not a blank box as a gift for example

I've bought some calendars that are 12x12 and can add a photo to them... I have added 8x8 simple layouts instead and was wondering whether these would class as normal layouts as when the year is over I will be chopping them out and placing in albums for the recipients!
Also... does it matter if the 8x8 layouts are the same for each calendar?!
What points can be claimed please?
scrapdolly
02-12-2007, 10:22 AM
I guess it is a judgement call - you need to decide how simple they are and do they count as layouts. 8 x 8 size is fine.
I would say if they are the same you would only count them once. That was what we agreed whenthis issue came up before.
They cound like lovely gifts

Qucik question. A lot of UKSers are doing the Weight Loss Journal is the slimmers forum so i have been asked what they count making the journal as. They have made a journal and will be filling a page per week on their progress. So, does it count as 25 points per month for the 4 pages per month and then nothing for the journal as its not a complete one (ie not all the pages are decorated etc etc)
leigh11
04-01-2008, 06:30 PM
oooh A few of us are doing the A-Z journel and were wondering the same thing :D:D
scrapdolly
04-01-2008, 08:42 PM
Not sure how the slimming journal would work - would it count as either a scrapping or an art journal. Will it be embellished etc.
If it really will then it would count as 25 points for the month.
The A-Z journal would be the same - 4 pages 25 points
However, if you are doingt he A - Z journal as a traditional scrapping page and it is 6 x 6 or bigger they can count as layouts. I know I am doing my A - Z in an 8 x 8 album as traditional scrap pages for example.
leigh11
04-01-2008, 08:45 PM
cool, i think most of us will be doing either 8x8 or 8x11 so will count them as LO's!! so 10pts each-yes :D:D
can we get anything for making the actual journal??
leigh11
04-01-2008, 08:56 PM
also with the a-z journal
if we did a double page with the letter on one side and the page the other would that just be a DLO so 20pts :D
or if we did 2 letters as above would that then have to count as the 25pts described in your post above!!!
can you tell me and the team are confused
scrapdolly
04-01-2008, 09:02 PM
Just having a letter on a page would not count as a layout.
You need to use your discretion and personal judgement as with anything.
You all know how much work goes into a normal layout. If you can hand on heart say it is the same, count it as a layout. If you can't, don't.
And remember the points thing is meant to be a bit of fun :)

Usually they advertise in the team chat section or Scrapdolly sets new teams up once there are enough people interested. I'm not sure but I think we have a place as Elyse couldn't join (see above). You would need to check with Kelley though.

Can anyone clarify how points work where a week falls across two months - i.e. which month do you claim them in?

Hi
Following on from Jenny's post, there has been a bit of confusion in our team about claiming points for the weekly challenges when a challenge week falls in between different months.
I have always collected challenge points on the basis that any weekly challenge LO's done during the week of the challenge are counted as that weeks challenge, regardless of whether there is a slight overlap from month to month. However, its been asked whether challenge points should be counted in the month you actually earnt them, i.e if w/k 4 challenge was done in January, points should be entered in Jan w/k 4, if done once we enter Feb, points should be entered in Feb wk 1.
Can anyone advise?
leigh11
03-02-2008, 06:38 PM
i also do the points for the week they were set!!!!!
so if it was set Jan wk4 but you finished it in feb it goes onto Jan wk 4 points!!!
As long as it is completed in that week. If it is done after the next challenge is set then you can only claim for a LO, not the challenge itself
does that make sense?? :D:D:D

Monthly house challenge is just normal single or double points for the individual but it earns house points for the house
You don't need to count those - I do. But they must be uploaded tot he house gallery to count

one of my team mates has made herself one of those "word" books - each page is one letter... (like the ones you can buy from sponsors and decorate...)
so she has cut out the LOVE pages from chipboard and fully decorated it... it is 5 x 11 in size...
what would it count as for points...?

If it is all decorated you could count the pages as single page layouts if they are scrapbook pages as they are big enough

Hi I made this album for my friend and team leader. Its a bo bunny album and I had to cover all the pages with paper as well as decorate and then put the photos in and embellish. Whilst I didn't make it for the points I was just wondering if i could claim anything for my team for completing this.

Hi There
My team are making swap cards for each other all about us ie: contact details, likes dislikes etc.
We're making 9 each, one to be sent out to each team member So eventually we will have 9 different cards in return which we then bind into our own team booklets.
The cards are to be 6x4 inches and decorated both sides.
Just wondering if we can claim points for these??

Hi Dolly,
I've just finished an 8x8 minibook which has the equivalent of 6 DLOs inside, plus the front and back covers. It's a mix of digi and traditional paper/cardstock/embellishments layouts. It's a bit more than a mini-book, and as it's bigger than 6x6 I'm not sure that I should claim it as a mini-book anyway:wacko: Can you let me know your thoughts on what points I should claim please?
Thanks!
scrapdolly
19-02-2008, 11:28 PM
If you think they count as scrapbook pages (and it sounds like it) then you claim 6 DLO (more than a mini book anyway )
Hope that helps

Hi Just wondering if I can claim points for weekly challenge & a tag book both in the same week, or I only claim one set of points.
you can only claim the weekly challenge in the week it was set-other wise its just a LO(so either 10 or 20 pts-SLO or DLO) but you can claim for anything else when you do it :D
weekly challenge is 30pts if you do all of it, plus 10pts for doing a LO :D

are there rules about how often you have to be on your teams chat thread?
kelley coulson
26-03-2008, 09:46 PM
As far as i'm aware there isnt. I think its up to individual teams. I'm a team leader and we have some members that are on numerous times a day and others havent been on in the March thread yet (although i know why they havent been on)
I know some teams have a 2 week rule that they like to be contacted if your not online after 2 weeks. HTH

27-03-2008, 08:41 AM
There are most certainly NOT rules about this. As soon as you get rules like this you degenerate the whole team spirit.
All teams - and especially all team leaders - need to appreciate that some people are on line more than others and some people chat more than others.
It is NOT appropriate in any shape or form for a team leader to expect team mebers to chat any more or less than they are comfortable with.
Team leaders don't OWN their team, they are simply there to collate the points - the team belongs to everyone in it.
I make it very clear with every single team I set up (which are more than half of the points teams on the board currently) that everyone chats differnetly and those differences are to be respected by everyone in the team.

I hope my post wasnt taken out of context. I didnt mean that team leaders had the right to remove people from teams if they hadnt been online for a certain amount of time etc. I meant that i know of some teams that like to be made aware if people are not going to be about for a certain amount of time - ie 2 weeks. In our team there is a lady who has a really poorly son. She wasnt online for weeks and hadnt posted in the team thread for 2 months. We as a team got worried about her so i contacted her to make sure everything was ok. I certainly wouldnt be suggesting that she left because of it. We also have members that only come on at weekends, thats also fine. We also have a member at the moment who is moving house, she isnt sure how long she will be offline for, but thats ok because we now wont worry about her as we know she wont be online for a bit. All we as a team ask, is that we would like to be informed if someone is going to be off line for ages, only so that we dont worry that they are ok. As a team, we all care about each other and get concerned.
I persoanlly feel there should be no pressure in a team over things like points and how much you chat etc. If you collect 100 points in a month, then brill, if you collect 10 then that is also brill - its 10 more points for the team.
I really hope that this has cleared things up - i really didnt mean anything to be taken the wrong way.

can i just confirm yet again that the complaints i had about you WERE NOT about how many times you posted but due to the fact that you disappeared for weeks after only just joining and by then i had recruited more members and now have 11 members and as i then had 4 complaints about you from other team members about your abrupt and rude posts saying that for all you know we could not be who we say we are and so you dont want to tell anyone anything then as i had to let one go anyway it seemed only fair for it to be yourself.
I am sorry for this angry post but i have told you this now a couple of times and i have also told scrapdolly.
We have people who post very rarely too and i have not KICCKED THEM OFF THE TEAM as you put it so this proves that the amount of posts our team members post is not an issue.

This isn't about you or your team. :) I too have been removed from a team for not posting, or, at least, for being on the UKS boards, but not stopping by to say hello.
I pointed out that sometimes I just stop by to upload, check galleries, look at other threads, etc and my ex-leader told me that wasn't being a team player and threw me off her team.
Honestly, I'm happier now I don't feel I have to be posting a few times every day.

Personally Ive been put off the whole team thing in fact I dont really feel like being a member of UKS any longer either. I get enough grief from people in real life because I dont know what to say to them let alone getting it from people online too.
Also, I have never posted anything saying I dont want to tell the team members anything or posted anything rude. I tried so hard to be a member of the team but have been ostracised due to my lack of social skills.

Castle book (which is wonderful) is 50 points for a mini book
You can only count mini books which are finished. So maybe the 10 x 6 which is decorated but not finished should get half points. rather than 50 points for a mini book I suggest you claim for 25 points like a tag book etc.
For week 5 challenges just combine or put in extra LO points to make the difference. It just happens there are 5 weeks sometimes.

from the Rules & Guidance thread:
2. Art & Circle Journals – You can earn 25 points for each Art journal / circle journal entry that you complete. An entry is whatever you enter into one persons journal be it 1,2 or even 4 pages not points per page completed. So you could do 1 page in one journal & earn the 25 points but in the next journal your entry could be 4 pages but this would still only be worth 25 points. The reason that Journals are worth more points than most other things is because they are more time consuming. An exception for Journals is when you start your own Journal then you would earn 25 points for making/covering/decorating the Journal & another 25 for completing your entry
scrappybunny
11-05-2008, 11:36 PM
I am not sure the paperbag book would be 30 points:
6. Minibooks, Sarabooks, etc and fully decorated exploding boxes – These are now worth a set amount of points rather than being treated as layouts. Each minibook, sarabook, accordion fold full album etc will be worth 50 points regardless of how many pages they have in them etc. You may not count pages in these books towards your monthly layout target. A 'mini book' is defined as a sarabook or similar, or any mini-album of smaller than 6x6. People do, however, need to use their discretion when submitting. A mini book represents a considerable amount of work. Consider what you have made and if, in terms of time, detail, embellishments, journalling etc it really does count for 50 points. For example, a tiny keyring mini book would not count for 50 points nor would a mini book left blank of pictures and journalling for people to fill in.
7. Handmade Albums – If you make an album totally from scratch then you can earn yourself 30 points. These must be albums that hold page protectors & not minibooks, sarabooks etc

Do digital layouts count as point earning layouts? And would a maze book be considered a mini book?
A digi layout does count, but the team challenges can sometimes specify certain techniques which arent possible, so you may not always be able to claim the extra points iykwim
from the Guidance & Advice thread:
Do Digital pages count?
The answer is OF COURSE
Digital layouts, both single and double, get the same points as paper single and double pages; 10 and 20 points respectively.
There is, however, a big difference in challenges. The teams that set the challenges have the right to set whatever they want - we are all just grateful that they set them at all. Often the things they specify cannot be done digitally. For example a challenge may have points for embossing, for using rubber stamps, for adding a keepsake like a lock of hair, for including a handmade envelope or a mini book. Clearly those are things that you cannot do digitally. You could put a digital envelope on, but it is not the same as making a handmade envelope. You could mimic stamping but it is not rubber stamping.
Digital scrappers need to accept that they can, of course, do the challenges, but often cannot earn all 30 bonus points and should not, on trust, claim them.

I've put the info above in my post Leigh :)
hth
this is the only other bit that might be relevant
4. Tag books & Accordian Albums & Maze books . A tag book (do a gallery search for examples) or an accordian-fold book, usually with about 4 pages; each page is a decorated pocket and holds a decorated tag. Hand made, decorated and filled tag & accordian books are worth 25pts. Please note they should be finished. If you are making blanks as gifts these would not count.

okay - update on paperbag books - they would count as a minibook so long as they are stuffed (ie with pages) and decorated
however, as with all minibooks, the individual pages do NOT count for points, its a set number of points for the whole item

i dont know where to ask this so i am taking a plunge and opting here but if its wrong maybe you can steer me in the correct place
when collecting points you can get 4 points for using the font of the week, can you tell me is this 5 points for using it no matter how many layouts you use it on or if you use it on say 3 layouts do you get 5 points for each lo ie 15 points
thank you

Ive recently made 2 BIA books..both larger than 6 x 6 ...Ive then added a LO to each page..I can gain points for each LO cant I?

Any page 6 x 6 or bigger counts as a single LO for points
You cant claim for the album if you are claiming for each of the layouts in it.

If they are bigger than 6 x 6 then you could count the cover and the inside as LO's I guess so 2 x 10 points. Other than that I am afraid no points (and very sad as I have made similar things though not with the pre-made mailers)

scrappybunny
30-06-2008, 12:59 AM
from the 'All You Need To Know (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=196938)' thread
6. Minibooks, Sarabooks, etc and fully decorated exploding boxes
These are now worth a set amount of points rather than being treated as layouts. Each minibook, sarabook, paperbag books, accordion fold full album etc will be worth 50 points regardless of how many pages they have in them etc. You may not count pages in these books towards your monthly layout target. A 'mini book' is defined as a sarabook or similar, or any mini-album of smaller than 6x6. These books MUST be decorated to count for points.
Petra

One of my teamies has done 10 6x6 pages (each fully decorated on both sides, so 20 sides in total) for a swap she is in, however they do not have photos - these are to be added by the recipients when swapped out.
Do these count for the team points, please?

Hi. I was wondering about the recipe cards done for swaps. Do they get points? They are 6 x 6 with a photo and decoration but I'm not sure I would call them LOs in the traditional sense. Also if they are all the same design would you get points for the design LO rather than each one? Thanks
scrapdolly
17-07-2008, 10:41 AM
They need to be what you would call LO's to count - though the 6 x 6 size is right. And if they were all the same even if they were LO's you could only claim for one

In the Guidance thread it says that a : 'mini book' is defined as a sarabook or similar, or any mini-album of smaller than 6x6.
I'm making a book that's a bit larger than that at 6.5 x 7.5. Is this still defined as a minibook as I will be making covers, binding etc as I would for a smaller than 6x6 minibook. Or is each page going to be classed as a LO as each page will consist of conventional scrapping?
Thanks!

24-07-2008, 10:25 PM

Try re-downloading the spreadsheet which is in the House membership thread. Might be better to use a fresh one.
Filing that send a written breakdown just not on the spreadsheet to the House leader so for example
Scrapdolly 6 SLO =10
5 DLO = 100
1 mini book = 50
Total 160
etc

Sneaks in to help out - sorry - they are removed from the house lists as the houses are solely for points collectors. If the pages are 6 x 6 or bigger and you can justifiably call them scrapbook pages (That comes down to individual discretion and you need to determine if there is as much work as a scrapbook page) then they count as single layouts
If they are smaller then I guess you could go for 50 as a mini book.

Hi Snowgoose I think you will find that it is only 1 team that collects points that you can belong to and claim the points though you can chat on others as much as you like, if you have been invited to come over to their SG, we have several people on our SG who are not part of our team, but, as we call them Litter Mates (we are the ScrappyCats)

Hi Scrapdolly!
Just wondering if there is a difference in the House points in the House Results and Team Results? I'm assuming the House Results points are only the sum of those LOs that are submitted for the House Challenge set by the sponsors and the House results in the Team Results thread are the results of all the combined teams, is that right?
