August Week 2 Challenge [Archive]

Hi there! Welcome to the Doodlbugs' first challenge.

The Doodlebugs Team believe in the KISS principle (Keep It Short and Sweet), so our challenge is interesting but short and sweet!

Due to the fact that this our first challenge, we challenge you to 'scrap a first'.
Due to the fact that we have a very cute purple logo, we challenge you to include the colour purple on your LO.
As we are the Doodlebugs, you are please to show off with some doodling on your LO.
And finally, as we are terribly environmentally conscious, you have to use up at least 5 scraps on your LO.

So:
Scrap a 'first' - 10 points
Purple - 10 points
Doodling - 5 points
Minimum of 5 scraps - 5 points

My LO "1st Haircut" is in my gallery now.
Really enjoyed the doodling, although not had very much practise. Will make more of an effort in the future to include some more on my LO's!!

Managed the challenge while baby napped. Took 3 naps though :lol:

Was difficult for me to do this page as I am not too fond of the colour purple (despite it being my fav colour years ago). I found some paper in my stash which worked though so went for it!

Oh wow - this challenge couldn't have been more perfect for me, my sister gave birth to a boy yesterday and he is her first, the first grandchild and my first nephew ! I thought the purple would be difficult but I found this great green and purple paper and it came together ! Thanks for the challenge.

Am going to try and give it a go, not sure I have got any purple paper though, any excuse to go shopping!! Is there a deadline to get the LO done by, I have never done any of these before.

I have a question, you say use a minimum of 5 scraps, can they be 5 scraps of just 2 or 3 different pps, because I am having difficulty in finding 5 different scraps that go together. I want to do 1" squares of them down the side of my LO

I used 6 pieces of scraps but they were out of one pp and one c/s.

I've found some more scraps that will colour blend with the rest so am happy on that score now, just trying to get the balance before I stick anything down and then I can do the doodling. But I think It will only be a little bit on this one, not sure yet.

Hi Mary, as long as it's 5 scraps of paper. Can't quite remember how many I used on my LO but I don't think it was 5 different papers :) HTH

Again, WOW, ladies I'm really impressed with everyones layouts, you all do such lovely work. Keep it up:) Thanks for taking part in our challenge. You've all inspired me, just a shame I need to go to work :(, much rather be home scrapping :lol:!!!

was working on this last night and also found getting 5 different scraps papers difficult to go together, what i did in the end was doodled on the scraps and cut out flowers from them. so i got to use them i also did tiny circles from different scraps but i still didn't get up to 5 so i have 5 scraps bits but not 5 different papers hope that is ok.

dealt with purple, scraps doodling pushed myself on the doodling and love the results, might just stop working this morning and go finish it so i can upload if dh lets me.and a first

I don't normally 'do' purple, but seem to have gone a bit overboard with it! The title shows up much better irl as well!

I would have used just small parts of a bkgd pp as scraps, I love the challenge of doing digi and making it fit all the criteria of a IRL one. But saying that I think you have done a brilliant job of this LO

saying all that I did an IRL one this time though :lol:

I'd love to join in this challenge - but I wondered, is it acceptable for me to do a first - I'm altering a notebook (for the very first time) - and it is going to have all of the other criteria in it to qualify for your challenge - it's just not going to be a lo?!?!

Is that acceptable?

Ok, what you do is this:
Open your gallery where the pic is
click onto the address bar of your browser and then press control + C on your keyboard
now open a reply in the thread and type your message ie here it is. Highlight the word here.
you will see an icon of a world with links, click on this, and when a dialog box opens click into it and clear the http:// stuff away, and then press control + V to paste your URL into the box.
Click submit reply and Voila! A link!

I've used Wednesdays Sprinkles class for my LO its here (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=132282&cat=6133) I've doodled on the hearts and flowers but it doesn't show up too well.

Is lilac ok for purple?? just about managed to sneak some lilac into my LO and wondered if i could be cheeky and get the points??
