I've been looking around the 'altered' forums, and they're great, really inspiring.
But, when you alter a book, do you start with an actual books [with existing content] and do you cover the pages or just the cover??
Please help, thanks

I have altered notebooks for my kids teachers as gifts. I could buy a notebook from a stationery store or even a supermarket. I altered the covers only using my scrapbooking supplies. You can have a look in my gallery. Hope this helps.

you can do what you want - some people just alter a notebook cover, others alter a childs board book, and others alter a complete existing book inside and out, and some people make their oen books then decorate. look at the links at the top of this thread and you will see loads of examples..
also some here

If you really want to get creative, learn how to do it and get loads of ideas buy "Altered Books Workshop" by Bev brazelton - its the bible lol and an brilliant book

Hi,
I take altered to mean just that..altered in some way ( not just decorated) but everyone will have their own take on this subject, so I guess anything goes! There's one in my gallery called Diva...I was going through a Frida Khalo phase.....there are pages ripped out..stuck together...little niches cut into them and drawers added. The book mentioned in the previous post is a must if you want to get into the subject.
Hope this helps!
