View Full Version : Old fashioned images
I've just started my art journal today, although its been something thats appealed to me for ages its something which is massively out of my comfort zone (if you look at my gallery you'll notice most of my layouts are very simple).
But I've been playing with paint and glue today on my front cover - just waiting for it to dry.
Where can I get old fashioned images to use?? I know people use lots of them in their altered works and ATCs but I have no idea where to get any from.
ALso what do you use your Art Journal for?? Do you just draw, doodle, paint, stick things in it or do you use it for a purpose??
If anyone has any pics of their Art Journal I'd love to see them for inspiration

I've seen books of them in craft shops. but another useful resource is Dover Pictorial Archive which are books full of images which are out of copyright. Just search 'Dover Pictorial Archive' on Amazon.
My 'art journal' is a story that i am writing, illustrated and annotated in a scrap book/nature journal kind of way.

Another vote for Dover. Many of the books come with a CDRom so you can print them out, and you've paid for them and are allowed to use them freely. (There are a couple of restrictions listed inside the front cover, but nothing major - not having the worry about copyright is a great bonus)

Joanna Sheen does some lovely cd's with lots and lots of vintage images - the Victorian birthdays and Victorian Romance are particularly good. Also, there are lots of royalty free images online - try googling them.
