Afternoon all - so glad to be joining you on this!! Sounds like it will be brilliant - but might need to tell DH I need a new camera!! Maybe I'd better leave it a day or two til the shock of paying for two Retreats on the same day has worn off!!!!

I don't think that the general public is ready to see me in shorts!!
Me neither! But they may just HAVE to see me in a swimming costume because that pool is LUSH (having seen in IRL already of course). And as for the gym!!! You guys who are gym people are going to die when you see the gym...it's AMAZING (even I was impressed and I don't like running  )

Oh he'll be fiiiiiiine. You have to rave on about how very much cheaper the Swansea one was and what a total bargain it is and how it would be a crime NOT to go at those prices anyway...blah blah blah

ok! ok! I wanna book option 4!!
Chrissie - what will chucking out time at night be for full day delegates, and will they feed me some grub at tea time?!!
Will the class prices be similar to Brecons 2? (Just so I can get a rough figure in my head?) Need to do some number crunching with OH first (ooooh - and I've got a voucher to use!!)
I'm soooo excited at the prospect of a retreat on my doorstep that I just swallowed four jam donuts in rather quick sucession and almost whole!!
xxxx

So many questions!
Chucking out time will be as late as you like (midnight, one am...you just can't stay all night at your desk! )
Yes, the price of the full day delegate package includes lunches and dinners.
Class prices will be £8.50 each.
:D :D :D Come on Nat, you know you want to

Just joining in.... I am going on my own......so excited.
I have never been to a retreat, or even a crop before. I have just been winging it on my own, with guidance from this board - which has been excellent. I love the cybercrops and find they really get me on a roll.
I will not resist if you guys try to lead me astray! It is my first holiday in decades.. so I am open to pretty much anything!

Right thinking caps on to persuade Nat's OH :)
Tell you need to have something to look forward to incase you don't get into Uni and that you need to book it now because places are becoming limited.
Or to cover the other side, then say it will be a celebratory gift for you getting into Uni :)

I'm coming:wub:
Dh has coughed up for my birthday, but i have to pay for classes and stash myself;)
Looking forward to meeting everyone, I am a retreat virgin, but I do go to a crop every week. I am imagining a two day crop with ice cream interludes is that correct?
My other question is, is there going to be a retailer there or do we bring all our stash ourselves? What about equipment like cutting mats and trimmers? I'm asking because I have to get everything I need into my baggage allowance (20KG.....and i suppose I will need SOME other stuff for four weeks in the UK) and I don't want to have to worry about stuff I don't need because they will be there.
I am thinking of making myself up some page kits (for want of a better word) which I can add to or change if I see something better there to buy.
How many pages would you do in a retreat, I know it will depend on how many classes you do, I think I will book a class for each day, and then free scrapping time I'm quite a quick worker, can do 3 SLOs in a crop (9-1pm) if I'm not distracted by too much chatting, not that that is a bad thing:lol:
Oh and is it possible to have two countdown thingies in my sig so I can have one for the retreat too?
Chrissie
27-04-2007, 08:25 AM
So many questions :D  Anyone would think you were super excited. If someone doesn't get to you before me (as I have absolutely no time today and I need to leave for a seminar in Reading soon...back on Sunday) I shall answer you Monday.

Morning Dibby :)
OK Arianwen I will try to answer some of your questions in Chrissie's absence :)
Yes there will be a shop there (it's me :) ) - cutters and mats are normally bring your own but if you would like me to then I can lend you one of mine (you can choose from Fiskars or Zision) to save you using up your luggage allowance. Just remind me closer to the time as my memory is a complete sieve at times :)
Not really the right person to ask about how many LO's at a retreat as I'm usually working, but it all depends on how much you like to chat/eat/drink/eat/chat etc.... :)
Re the ticker, I'm not sure on that one - maybe a note to SMAX or a question in the technical forum might get the info - although to be honest even if they can they would probably prefer you not to until after the Cybercrop.
So...Pinny and Dibby have changed their user names. Tooooooo funny!!!!

Well today has been the worst day-Last night the fox paid my DH's hens a visit. This morning as per normal 5-30 off he goes to feed the hens approx 60. He got to the hen house to be greeted by 40 of his beloved hens strewn across the run dead!!!!. To say he was gutted it an understatment. And do you know the worst thing- it's his B/day!!!!!:(
Dibby
03-05-2007, 02:26 PM
Aw Pen, how awful, he must be so upset.
I am sorry.
Pennyk
03-05-2007, 02:29 PM
He is mad as heck-all he can think of is revenge on the fox. I didn't help by saying it was nature. He reckons he was singled out by the fox:lol: I shouldn't laugh. But, yes Debbie he is pretty much upset.
Jilly
03-05-2007, 02:30 PM
Oh Penny - that's awful.................give him some ((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) from us. xx
Chrissie
03-05-2007, 02:31 PM

And I was going to ask you to bring some eggs on Saturday as well :(

No Chrissie thats the point , the fox didn't eat any of them just killed them!!! We still have a dozen hens that have survived- dont know if they are in the mood to lay. But if they do I'll bring some:)
Chrissie
03-05-2007, 02:51 PM
Sounds more like the behaviour of a dog than a fox. I know foxes are blighters for this sort of thing, but they are wild animals after something to eat. Dogs tend to do this sort of killing (e.g. sheep worrying)
Pennyk
03-05-2007, 03:00 PM
It is also the way foxes behave as well. It wouldn't be so bad if they ate all they killed but they dont. The neighbour whom also had hens suffered the same fate as us just last week.
Dibby
03-05-2007, 03:54 PM
There was a chappy on the radio yesterday who said that foxes killed as many as they could, and then made "a mess" on what he didn't eat so that another fox couldn't eat them either.
Nice.
Chrissie
03-05-2007, 04:41 PM
Guess they are just wild dogs after all then. I feel so bad for your husband Pen.

Sorry I've been AWOL for a few days! Life...it's so damn busy!
Right...there are currently 30 people going to the Swansea retreat (but I've had 3 bookings this week, and so that may very well change again). I'm only taking another 10 absolute tops though.
And the classes will be available to book by the end of June :D :D :D Fiona's going to be doing a FAB and UNIQUE class...you'll all be booking that one. :)
Will everyone get an opportunity to do all the different classes or if they fill up is it tough luck?

Sometimes if the classes fill up the class will run again!

I will need some hints and tips on what to bring.
I guess I will need some paper, and of course, all the basic tools I usually use.
Will we be told what size photos are needed for the classes, kinda like on a cyber crop here?
I really have no clue about this but I dont want to waste the opportunity by not having things I need.
I would be grateful for any help.
(PS - I am driving down, so space is not really an issue, except I am going away on holiday immediately after the retreat, so do need room for my holiday stuff in the car too!)

Well, bring all the really essential tools trimmer ,scissors, craft mat, herma, etc, etc, embellies, some paper and cardstock if you have projects to do but really you don't need to do that as the shops always have what you really want!!! You will get a list with each class telling you what to bring and what's provided, plus what photos, tools etc. Anyway you only have to shout and everyone will give or lend you things you haven't got, we are a very friendly bunch! Don't worry we all bring far too much, well I do anyway and half of it never sees the light of day. I'm a bring coz I'll need it if I haven't got it kinda person. You'll have a lovely time all Scrapper's Unlimited retreats are very relaxed affairs and everyone is friendly!! And if you are too clever we burn you and your LO and make embossing powder from your ashes!!!
Pennyk
13-05-2007, 07:30 PM
Ain't that the truth- the burning bit I mean:D
xxpaddler
14-05-2007, 07:25 PM
:) somehow I dont think I am in danger of being burned and turned into embossing powder!
I guess if I sort out some good photos.... and bring a little stash, I should be fine with the class kits....
I am excited... definitely want to do the photo class.... because I need help there, plus, I am off to Newfoundland on 30 July to see my best friend whom I have not seen in 3 years. I am tagging it all into one trip..... what fun!

Hi all :D
Linz and her family came to see the hotel we're staying in this weekend. What did you think Linz? :P
It was fantastic, if you make allowance for the foyer carpet :)
The rooms we are having are spacious and light, the hotel staff were very pleasant and all the amenities I saw looked great.
Definately take your swimming cossie as the pool is superb and Tina my love, you don't know what your missing by not coming - the gym was out of this world :)

I didn't 'meet' Lisa but took two of her classes which were fab! Have to say tho my favourite was Jen Starr - she was wonderful and I loved what she did. Also did a great class with Karen Burniston and another good one with Lida de Witte. It was all excellent value for money - class kits were fab. UUGHHHHHHHh I really have to control this urge!
I am trying so hard not to buy anything crafting related between now and after the retreat and my holiday (which follows right after the retreat), but it is so difficult when I keep buying the magazines and seeing fun things in them....

Just laugh at ME why don't you Nat!!!! Still in the splint, it's really getting on my nerves now. Bruising looks I've been tatooed with BG Fusion paper!!! Off to see consultant on Friday, hope he doesn't still want to put me in plaster, now that really would P me off!

So I guess you are not feeling the love Fi:rolleyes: I hope he has good news for you. If you get plastered how the heck are you gonna paddle in the great waters of Caswell Bay?
Sorry Fi, but got to admit I had a little bit of a chuckle at your predicament too - only you could do something like that :)

 Indeed!!!!
We're waiting for the latest paper on some lines, and we are going to be SNATCHING it out of their hands the second it arrives in the country, so we can get those particular classes sorted.
It's all in hand *and breathe...*

who's providing the shop at the retreat?

Awww Fi, hope you get good news from the consultant.... mainly cos I don't fancy pushing you all the way to the sea at Caswell if the tide's out :)

Hi Ladies thought I would pop on and let you know that I have packed my challenge kit.
Fi hope all goes well, but just in case thought I should let you know that I am a dab hand at wheelchair pushing.
Chrissie I am on holiday from Monday for a week and am worried that I will miss out on classes. Jilly has offered to text me the info when it is live. Can I then phone you with my class options?

Anyone else made their name badges yet? Have had great fun making mine today . . .just like a little kid cutting and sticking and making a BIG MESS . . . (difference is I now have to clear it up myself!)
Do you think it would be possible to stick the badge to the chair with velcro??? think it might be a bit tricky to tie mine . . .love it though!!!

I thought of using velcro... but having tried some, I dont think it will work. (My TV remote is attached to a cushion with velcro and it would not stick to the various fabrics I tried.)
I have just been shopping to buy the page kit, hopefully the recipient will enjoy it. It was quite hard tho, buying something when it is for someone else and you have no idea what they might like.
Gotta buy the goodies yet, but that should be easier!
Hopefully I can get started on the name plate soon.
